    Might be my fave speedrun in awhile. Favorite game ever and he mentions Aesop Rock as his fave artist on the soundtrackk. Lets go Nase.

    Speaking of playing with the keyboard, it allows you to get perfect directional inputs every single time, so you wouldn't ever worry about those pesky diagonal tricks ;) Also having a separate finger for each trick type helps a ton with specials.
    When I was playing THPS4 back in the day, I used to wish I had a gamepad - analog inputs should make manual/grind balance a breeze, right? But now that I got THPS1+2 for the PS5, playing on a controller feels like skating with both of my legs broken: doing combos and mixing tricks with just a thumb is way harder, both the stick and the dpad lack the keyboard's perfect precision and having analog sticks doesn't help with the manuals or grinds either - turns out quick taps >>> analog input for balancing.

      analog doesnt have much over dpad/keyboard for anything except maybe the offboard in later games, both dpad and keyboard are pretty equal in terms of directional inputs

    I played the crap out of this game when I was a teenager, and I could barely recognize most of the levels now. It's still one of my favourite THPS games, though.

    I loved this game though it definitely took me a looooong time to finish - what a great challenge though. I was a pretty good player by then and man I was really tested. I remember a lot of it. I can't believe these games came out every year. What a leap from THPS to THPS 4.

    anyone out there that could explain why the player character's stats are minmaxed to the degree that they are? like max Air but zero Hangtime? what are the mechanics at play there?

    • @Beanboolin
      @Beanboolin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it is similar to the reasoning in the tony hawk underground speedrun where they don't level up grinding or manual as it is faster for the runner to go to the ground faster from a jump or be able to end grinds or liptricks faster but have maximum movement speed or similar things

      my guess is you can reach max height but you don't stay up there long enough to waste time

    This game came out 4 months after I turned 21, and now 3 days ago I turned 42! Where TF did the time go?

    My youth. It was a great time playing THPS-games on consoles. I just have THPS 2 and American Wasteland and i don't get American Wasteland correctly to work.

      @@okwardmexican3800bro I only recently cleared the Zoo like last year lmao. I decided that since I didn’t have internet access as a kid to figure out all the shit in the game, then I still wouldn’t use it as an adult and just figure it all out. The validation I felt was seriously next to none.

      thepackle did a really good THP8 showcase for gdq last year (not an actual marathon gdq but maybe better because it's dedicated just to that run)

    Playing any Tony hawk game would take us weeks to a month to beat! You've surprised us to be inspirational for future fans or players for the game. We should have asked ourselves what could be a challenge or difficult for us in the next Tony hawk game? however after watching you we may remember there are standards when it's done fast, impressive, and profession6ally! Definitely someone we'll ask for more, Thanks you for playing and sharing with a #GDQ community!!
