Hi Lindsey, I am a single 65 years young female, who decided to redo the entire little kitchen. I am on a very small budget. You have given me a lot of very cool ideas and have inspired me to go for it. So far by myself, I am in the process of demolishing both upper and bottom cabinets, removing microwave and sink.I will have that all done within 2 weeks. Cost so far $5.79 (drill bits). Thank goodness I do not have wall paper. Thank you again for sharing.💕
Hi Valerie! Your kitchen project sounds fantastic and I love that you’re tackling it yourself. 💪🏼 Best of luck on your project and I’d love to see pictures if you’re on Instagram!
@@Klutzy68 Habitat for Humanity is a rip off, every time I have visited their shop in my area all their supplies have been overpriced and beat up. Wow! The kitchen turned out beautifully! I'm so glad you left the old fashioned charm in it! That's the part I love the best!!! I hope you never ever rip out everything just to put in a boring modern kitchen...those are everywhere. Instead you now have a charming classic kitchen that will be beautiful and useful for many years, yet quaint and lovely!!! Great job!!!
Just WOW what a difference. Lindsey I love that you and Mike used what you had as a kitchen and did this makeover over time. Your work hours probably out number what you spent on it . Most people just rip out everything, but you saved so much of the character and only replaced what you had to. I think that is my favorite part of this makeover. Love everything you added that only enhanced the character you already had . Great job and again WOW 🤗💓💕💞
I absolutely love that for the most part you kept it very original. From the new old sink, to the old windows. Also the fact they really don't make cabinets like your's anymore, to the old woodwork! Great Job, I wouldn't change a thing again 👏
I love what you did!! Honestly, I love old kitchen cabinets and the style more than the new kitchens. The newer materials are so pristine looking that they sometimes lose the cozy, quaint look that older kitchens have. I'm nostalgic and I just love the older 40's-50's (and even earlier) styles. White is still the best look, in my opinion. The older windows and transom style window over the door are perfect. I love your choice of green accent paint. To repurpose what you have is brilliant. I doubt that a newer kitchen would be any more charming than that. Great job.
To each his own but I don’t think I’d have the heart to re-remodel the kitchen. Something is lost in older homes when people do so. This is really beautiful
Beautifully done! I especially love your color palette, neutral green and off-whites, the flooring, love the vibe, beadboard, chandelier. Very well-thought out and executed. Great budgeting choices. Kudos to all who worked hard to make this happen. Love it.
I love the makeover. It made me cry. My Mom and Dad bought an 1800 Victorian Home with wrap around porch and widow's walk when I was young girl. Mom and Dad did everything except the wiring. Dad worked a full-time job. The weeks and nights were for the house. It took years. I love that house. My Mom and Dad have passed away. Infact my Dad's birthday is August. He would have been 100 years old. I miss Mom and Dad. Be Blessed.
That house sounds beautiful and I love that they put so much effort into making it a lovely home for you. Thanks for sharing and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! 💖
I’m so sorry for the loss of your parents. I miss both of mine too. My mother would be 100 right now, and my dad 102. Was the house passed down to someone in the family? It sounds like my dream home.
I wish they had kept the ceiling trim, it was really cute, but that's the only thing I would have done different as far as style, it looks so nice at the end :)
I appreciate how badly this kitchen needed help and that you all just did the work - hour by hour and layer by layer. This is very inspiring! I am redoing one from the 1980s right now. It doesn’t have as many problems but it is hours and hours of work. Watching this is helpful, and your results are beautiful!
Lindsey you always make your projects look amazing and for a great price!! I also know that you and hubby work very hard to accomplish it! Beautiful once again.
I'm so impressed with what you did here. Your video just gave me a bunch of ideas for when I help my son remodel his dated kitchen of the older home he just bought. I love your color choices , that green looks so good with the white walls and cabinets. the bead board is a stroke of genius. The floating floor on top of the old floor would be so much easier then the demo I thought we would have to do. You have a true farmhouse sink , perfect for the time period of your house. Thank you so much for sharing your clever ideas. Glad your video popped up!!
I like the after photos with the green built-in and the transom window. The wood casement windows even from the 80's can wear out and the bugs can get at them.
This is magnificent! It’s difficult to choose a favorite part but I really like the pantry and door color, the bead board paneling and the overall bright white. The basket on the stove for potholders, etc. is ingenious.
WOW!! Kitchen looks beautiful! Y’all did an awesome job on reusing a lot of what y’all had. Everything doesn’t have to be new as long as you make it look nice. Thanks for sharing, Lindsey ❤
W O W - what a huge transformation - unbelievable the difference. It looks brand new, so clean & bright. You guys did an amazing job, it looks wonderful. I really like that color of green and the prints you found at a thrift store. I've always been a fan of bead board and plan on using it in my kitchen. Your wallpaper removal (at least the first couple of layers) was so satisfying!!! I removed wallpaper from every room in my home 24 years ago, and it was very hard work.

My husband’s and my first house was over 100 years old. Wallpaper EVERYWHERE including the ceilings. Seeing all of the wallpaper trash on your floors brings back memories. It was a challenge, but soooo worth it in the end.
I jsut found your channel and subscribed. Love the kitchen. A few years back when we were getting ready to retire, we bought the worse house in a beautiful friendly neighborhood right next to the beach in Michigan. Lovely hometown atmosphere,,great neighbors. We fixed up the house using ideas like you and finding sinks, furniture etc off facebook marketplace. It has taken a few years, but the house is very cosy, we have everything we need and want,, and we are not in debt. We have the freedom to walk the beach and enjoy our family. I look forward to seeing what else you have done.
Your kitchen is really beautiful! LOVE the beadboard!! I remember buying my first house, and money was so tight. We had to do all the work ourselves a little at a time. At the time, we thought it was a burden. We later realized that it was a blessing. Bless you in your new home!
Love it! What a labour of love that was, and what a lovely fresh look it has! I was a tad worried about the faux tiles you removed, it looked like asbestos but I presume you know about that and made sure it wasn´t. I would have touched up the plumming pipes too, above counter, but that really is the only thing I could think of to do, the rest was astonishing!!
You both worked very hard together, and it shows. What a beautiful makeover at a great price. I’m going to subscribe to your channel to see what you do next. The little girl and teenage boy seemed like such nice children, you could only hear the young girl, and she sounded very sophisticated, just like always seem to be.
Thank you so much! So glad you subscribed. We're working on the little girl's room next. It's taking longer than expected (as always!) but we hope to share an update soon.
What beautiful results with your whole family participating and making memories along the way! It truly takes the results and the appreciation of the beautiful renovation to another level❤️ Congratulations!
A LOT OF TIMES a new COAT OF PAINT and MINOR CHANGES with THE LIGHTING & FLOORING makes things look BRAND NEW & MORE EXPENSIVE 🎉🎉🎉 IT LOOKS PHENOMENAL!!!
It takes a lot to impress me, but the money that you spent and the transformation you did for what you spent is very noticeable very well done very tasteful good job
I love the brightness of your kitchen. The weight makes it seem so much Bigger and I'm sure the light is just bright in there. Beautiful transformation.
Hello, stumbled upon your kitchen redo video, I recently purchased an older, very small home that has seen much neglect and previous owner (failed) DIY's in every aspect imaginable. I am a DIY addict and always looking for ideas or just like watching other cost effective renovations. I have to redo every room, just finished updating the laundry/bathroom, the kitchen is another project next on the list. I am trying to redo as inexpensive as possible keeping much of the original, your kitchen update was inspiring and gave me a few ideas. Although I don't have extra helping hands, your ideas can easily be done by one; I am 66 and have been doing projects myself for quite some time, amidst grunts and groans it all gets done!
Yes! 👏🏼 Things take a lot of time and lots of groaning over here too. This kitchen video was filmed over 3 years, haha! Congratulations on your home purchase and I love that you’re tackling the spaces on your own. 💪🏼 Best of luck and hope you stick around for more ideas!

You did a REALLY nice job..for an older kitchen..looks great..lots of hard work..paid off...
Thanks! We’re enjoying the new kitchen!
The tiles were just metal with several layers of paint on them. Probably lead paint though. 🫣 Thanks for looking out for us!
Well done!!!!😍
Thank you!
Thank you! We created some fun memories on this project. Looking forward to the next one!
Wow! What a beautiful transformation. I absolutely love the dirty martini paint color. I am drawn to green as well. Great job!.
Thank you! It’s my favorite green. 😊
Much brighter. I like the odd slash of the green
Thanks!
A LOT OF TIMES a new COAT OF PAINT and MINOR CHANGES with THE LIGHTING & FLOORING makes things look BRAND NEW & MORE EXPENSIVE 🎉🎉🎉
IT LOOKS PHENOMENAL!!!
Thanks so much, Audrey! Paint can do wonders!
It takes a lot to impress me, but the money that you spent and the transformation you did for what you spent is very noticeable very well done very tasteful good job

I love the brightness of your kitchen. The weight makes it seem so much Bigger and I'm sure the light is just bright in there. Beautiful transformation.
So much brighter! I love being in there now!
Great job! It looks awesome! I love the color green too! It’s my favorite.
Thank you so much!
huge difference looks just lovely! Hard working people getting great results!
Thank you!
Love how bright it turned out! And your husbands comment ‘I like the girl who had the idea’ 🥰
