- In this video, gain inspiration for your kitchen remodel on an extreme budget! We renovate our small kitchen "on the cheap" for only $1,000... with a lot of hard work and favors from friends. We start by doing demo, removing wallpaper and metal tiles. We install an affordable floating laminate floor and beadboard backsplash. We use a lot of leftover paint and high-quality cabinet paint for an inexpensive way to powerfully transform the kitchen! Plus, watch to the end to see some fun thrifted and vintage DIYs that pull everything together.

Just WOW what a difference. Lindsey I love that you and Mike used what you had as a kitchen and did this makeover over time. Your work hours probably out number what you spent on it . Most people just rip out everything, but you saved so much of the character and only replaced what you had to. I think that is my favorite part of this makeover. Love everything you added that only enhanced the character you already had . Great job and again WOW 🤗💓💕💞

I love the makeover. It made me cry. My Mom and Dad bought an 1800 Victorian Home with wrap around porch and widow's walk when I was young girl. Mom and Dad did everything except the wiring. Dad worked a full-time job. The weeks and nights were for the house. It took years. I love that house. My Mom and Dad have passed away. Infact my Dad's birthday is August. He would have been 100 years old. I miss Mom and Dad. Be Blessed.

I love what you did!! Honestly, I love old kitchen cabinets and the style more than the new kitchens. The newer materials are so pristine looking that they sometimes lose the cozy, quaint look that older kitchens have. I'm nostalgic and I just love the older 40's-50's (and even earlier) styles. White is still the best look, in my opinion. The older windows and transom style window over the door are perfect. I love your choice of green accent paint. To repurpose what you have is brilliant. I doubt that a newer kitchen would be any more charming than that. Great job.

Wow! The kitchen turned out beautifully! I'm so glad you left the old fashioned charm in it! That's the part I love the best!!! I hope you never ever rip out everything just to put in a boring modern kitchen...those are everywhere. Instead you now have a charming classic kitchen that will be beautiful and useful for many years, yet quaint and lovely!!! Great job!!!

We did something similar in our home. I told hubby if we had to live in the house for another 5+ years then I needed to “put some lipstick on the pig”. (Referring to my ugly kitchen)
I painted all the cabinets white, updated hardware, new plank flooring and we installed an island. The kitchen is unrecognizable just like your incredible transformation. In fact I enjoy it so much that I don’t even think about what we couldn’t change.

Hi Lindsey, I am a single 65 years young female, who decided to redo the entire little kitchen. I am on a very small budget. You have given me a lot of very cool ideas and have inspired me to go for it. So far by myself, I am in the process of demolishing both upper and bottom cabinets, removing microwave and sink.I will have that all done within 2 weeks. Cost so far $5.79 (drill bits). Thank goodness I do not have wall paper. Thank you again for sharing.💕

I appreciate how badly this kitchen needed help and that you all just did the work - hour by hour and layer by layer. This is very inspiring! I am redoing one from the 1980s right now. It doesn’t have as many problems but it is hours and hours of work. Watching this is helpful, and your results are beautiful!

This is magnificent! It’s difficult to choose a favorite part but I really like the pantry and door color, the bead board paneling and the overall bright white. The basket on the stove for potholders, etc. is ingenious.

I'm so impressed with what you did here. Your video just gave me a bunch of ideas for when I help my son remodel his dated kitchen of the older home he just bought. I love your color choices , that green looks so good with the white walls and cabinets. the bead board is a stroke of genius. The floating floor on top of the old floor would be so much easier then the demo I thought we would have to do. You have a true farmhouse sink , perfect for the time period of your house.
