Hi Doyle, Another amazing uplifting service. Thank you so much for it. I signed on tonight with a sad heart. I had the pleasure of going to church with my brother today. My brother Franklin Charles has cancer. He is not doing very well. He is looking frail and sick. Please keep him in your prayers. I have lost several siblings in the last few years. I truly do not want to lose the brother & sister that I have left. Please keep us in your prayers. I do love your show. I could listen to you play that guitar all day. It is a beautiful-sounding guitar with a great tone. Thank you for everything. Stay well & safe always, Tommy.
Hello Doyle. I met you years ago at a Taylor guitar clinic in Augusta, Georgia. That is when I first experienced seeing how fabulous you are on the guitar. I was equally impressed with how humble you are and how you love the Lord. You told the story of the white rose and how the lady gave you one from her garden after God told her to do so. You are truly a blessing to so many of us and I'm glad God opened doors for you to get back to ministering to musicians. Take care and I just subscribed👍
Doyle, I'll gladly admit your string-alongs have become my church services.❤God spoke and thankfully I listened. Praise goes to Him! Thank you Doyle for spreading the word with your beautiful music and experiences!
Well, I never intended this to be a substitute for attending church… However, what I meant is there are some of our viewers who are not able to attend church because of health reasons. It is important to have fellowship with the believers. Thank you so very much.
@@doyledykesmusic I understand, and appreciate it. There are some local churches near me so I have no excuse! I grew up going to a southern baptist church in FL, my favorite times were when we sang hymns.
I Pastor a small church in Atalissa Iowa, which is about two hours from the little brown church in the vale. Our church was established in 1870 and it’s still going today. The community is about 260 people and our church is about 35 strong. It’s been my dream to have you come visit us some Sunday morning to share your song and testimony.
I watch your Sunday String Along "religiously" and look forward to it every Sunday. This is my current church that speaks directly to my soul as a guitar player and previous worship leader. I love small old country churches and the reverence of the old hymns of yesteryear. Your renditions of these songs are beautiful and so spirit filled. The way you always put God first and allow him to lead your life is such a great example for us all. Listening to you always makes me strive to be better in my faith and walk and of course finger style guitar playing. Thank you Doyle!! You are greatly appreciated!!!
It’s Tuesday evening and my wife and I just enjoyed another segment of Sunday String Along. Thank you Jesus for Brother Doyle and his family, Lord please keep your hedge of protection around them, and engulf them in your love.
Thanks for the little brown church this morning. I've been there in the NE quadrant of Iowa visiting when I was younger. It was on the way from Clinton to Waterloo to Mason City north of Denver near Nashua, Iowa. Truly a country church.
Doyle as your message today says, listen to what the lord has to say. Come unto me and I will give you rest. God’s grace and mercy be with you. Thank you for your prayers.
Thank you. I think I have been to every town you mentioned today. Fun stories. Fun also watching you disappear into the sound of that guitar from Circle Pines. Blessings and Shalom.
Little Brown Church pushed my memory back to a little red brick church. All of the people I came from are resting on the hill behind and the only place I think my prayers can be heard is there.. . .but I pray anywhere now. You play the Olsen quite well !!!
I love your Sunday String Along “messages” from God and His Word…the songs you play during the session is frosting on the top. Your messages are anointed. Thank you for sharing each week, I could binge watch these over and over. His Word never returns void, it will accomplish what He intends for it to do. Thanks again!
I shared with my doctor yesterday, about Doyle Dyke and his Sunday Stringalong.... She replied that it was my SPIRITUAL lesson for the week. It's true. Thank you, Doyle for my weekly SPIRITUAL lesson for the week. And the guitar stuff rocks, too....
Brother Doyle, I get to church on Sundays at 8 am to rehearse with the worship group. We have two services, 9:30 and 10:45. I can't wait to get home at 1 pm and the first thing I do is listen to Sunday String - Along. To hear you play and pray brings so much joy and peace in a world that needs "salt and Light" to taste and see the Lord Almighty is the greatest music that one can share... Amen!
Enjoy Your Messages. We live in a World where they're is no Shortage of Hate. I Recently had a Cousin who Passed and her Favorite Saying was "Be Kind". Your Message of Listening is another Great Example. Thanks Doyle!
If you have not seen Doyle in person you don't know you have missed. A man lead by GOD and just as personable in person as you see him on internet and Utube. Just watched God at work in Wilmington North Carolina. Thank you Doyle God bless....
I keep coming back to this channel every Sunday morning for the message you bring as much as I come for the music. I believe with all my heart that God has put you here on TH-cam to be a light that serves to lead people to him and spread the joy of his love and compassion for all. Peace and Love.
I grew up in Parkersburg, West Virginia and used to listen to my Uncle Ab play hymns like "Little Brown Church" and "I Am A Pilgrim." Ab was a big Chet fan and a great fingerstyle player. He influenced my playing. I owe him my love and gratitude for a lifetime of playing guitar. Great job Doyle.
Thank you Doyle! I look forward to your playing and teaching every Sunday. (Any guitar in you hands sounds great, but that Olson is something special!)
Doyle- that Circle Pines is a beautiful instrument, indeed. You two were made for each other. Absolutely love the 'poem' you played- 3rd song, I think. Amazing, mesmerizing tune! Been thinking of getting back into playing and I can actually 'feel' myself playing, or attempting to play at least a tiny bit of what you do with your wonderful style. That would be a gigantic accomplishment. Well, I guess it's better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all. Your beautiful playing gives me hope. Anyway, really nice and thank you.
Yes! Praise God for my little country church in Starrville,Texas where the Holy Spirit has been walking the isles since 1853! Get Kelly to call me when you’re back around and I’ll give you a tour !
Thanks Doyle for these videos. They do serve as a worship service for me since I have a hard time getting out to a normal service these days. If you read this, if you wouldn't mind, would you say a prayer for my sister-in-law Rhonda, who lives down in The Villages in Florida and is fighting for her life right now in the hospital, as she needs a liver transplant and her organs are starting to fail and they are doing dialysis and they are recommended hospice at this point. I pray that God grants her a miracle and gives her another chance at life and heals her, saves her, but also I pray that the holy spirit be with her and that she accept Jesus as her lord and savior, which I am not sure whether she knows Jesus or not. If it is just her time, I pray that she makes her peace with God and prepares herself to meet him. Thank you and God bless.
I’m in agreement for the Lord, to touch her spiritually, and physically as well. I pray that God gives her what she needs, and she will receive His love in her heart.
Thank you Doyle. How interesting that you have all of that information regarding the" Little Brown Church". I had not heard that song before but was requested to play and sing it just yesterday at a Memorial Service. The Lord is so good!!! Lord bless you.
Amen, and May God bless you too brother. I thoroughly enjoyed this today. I’ve been writing down when He speaks to me too. It’s truly made a difference. As I go back to reflect on what He told me, it’s like I’m in constant communication with Him throughout the day. Thanks again brother Doyle.
Great Show, Doyle. I had God speak to me in 2022. I was 61 years old & experiencing irregular heartbeats. In December of ‘21 I was watching TV one night and my eyesight in my right eye went blurry. God told me to take my blood pressure. My blood pressure was 90/40. I said to myself “that was really strange”. So, I went to my cardiologist and he said to me: “Oh, you’re blood pressure is low because you lost 150lbs.” I had God speak to me again and God told me: “Get a 2nd Opinion.” Luckily I did. I had Open Heart Surgery last April, and the surgeon found that I had a congenitally defective aortic valve, plus one of the leaflets (normally 3, but I had 2) had a 5mm hole in it. That’s as wide as a chopstick. How did I live 62 years with a hole in my heart? Only from God’s Grace. That’s only how I can explain it - because I had performed a lot of weightlifting through the years, plus I owned a farm for 8 years. I played High School football, baseball & track&field. God watched over me all those years. Just amazing. I will never be able to repay God. I am just so grateful that I listened to God when I had to in life. I never smoked - Thank God. And I quit drinking beer at age 40, although I wasn’t a heavy drinker. But, I believe abstaining helped me. I also have a genetic blood disease called Hemochromatosis. That’s a whole another story.
After I watched your 3.12.23 message last week, I viewed an older Dr. Charles Stanley broadcast. Coincidentally, both of your messages were about each of your personal decisions of listening to God which changed both of your life's directions for ministry.
Thank you for another beautiful Sunday String a Long, Doyle. I love the inspirational gospel music. I wonder if you could play some of Reverend Gary Davis's songs sometime! I just adored Reverend Gary and was first introduced to him more or less by Stefan Grossman. Peace & Love from Dan in SF
Wonderful. So worth every moment. My birth year is 1952 but I'm kind of a young Christian, born again in 1996. The Little Brown Church story (new to me) was personally convicting. Illustrated to me that my many defects include lack of vision (of what I 'desire' to do, that He would use) and my lack of LISTENING intently for God's voice, on purpose and all the time. This message gives me hope that I may still have enough time left to at least BEGIN catching up. Going to try, anyway. Thank you.
Thank you, Doyle, for your commitment to teach from God’s word each week. A highlight of my week! Do you own a baritone acoustic? Would love to hear you play it, if you do.
I believe that it was Chet that said what you attributed to BBKing, or atleast I thought that I had heard you say that in the past concerning trying to play songs that you wrote. Anyways, the Olsen guitar sounds like a Steinway piano verses the other guitar that you played. Thank you for your genuine ministry.
I know isn’t that something ! I just happened up on it as I was traveling in that part of the country. I saw a sign little brown church. I thought it 14:06 couldn’t be. It was.
I wouldn't be able to put that Olson down, either! But there's always the Sands and DDM Guild. Decisions Decisions. As always; wonderful and inspiring.
A beautiful story I never knew about the Little Brown Church. A song from my childhood. Doyle what a blessing. Great sound from your Olson. Can you help me understand what a "wound third" is on the strings you offer? Thank you
Yes… Most nylon string sets having unwound nylon or plastic type string. The third string in my signature sets are silver. Well on like the fourth through the six always are. It gives them a different ring or tone. Thanks for asking.
@@doyledykesmusic I just placed my order from your store. The ringing of Tinnitus makes hearing tone difficult. My hearing doctor has made adjustments to my hearing aids with a program that is for musical instruments with some improvement in tone. So perhaps your strings will ad to this goal. Thank you.
Hey Doyle I'd like to invite you to come play the church I attend. I imagine that's a pipe dream as busy as I imagine you are. Awakinigs biker church in Fayetteville Arkansas. P. S. I'll give you an update Todd Bohannon is now the manager of guitar center in Fayetteville. We'd love to see ya. Thanx for yer channel. Peace and chicken grease ❤😊
Hi Doyle. Been rewatching your fabulous performances in a Sweetwater Christnas video from a few years back. Among other Guilds, You played a beautiful sunburst Guild F 55. Do you recall if it had maple or rosewood sides and back? (It’s available both ways). You make every guitar you play sound wonderful, btw. But I find myself watching those first two songs (Jingle Bells and Up on the Housetop) over and over! Also, is it possible that a new Guild Doyle Dykes model may appear in the near future? Thanks for all the great playing! Bob McKinnon, Nesconset NY
It seems to me the Guild in the video for Sweetwater was maple. If I remember right, they sent it to me a couple of days ahead most all of the others I had never even touched before. I would love to do another guitar with Guild sometime.😊
DOYLE DYKES - Riding to Circle Pines (and) What a Friend “A song I just finished,” says Doyle. “I call it RIDING TO CIRCLE PINES. Circle Pines is where this guitar was made.” It's a 'James Olson' instrument that Doyle calls his 'J-T' model - “same as the one James Taylor plays, with Brazilian Rosewood (back and sides) and a cedar top.” After playing for comparison his similarly-shaped Gibson 185 - and before he begins to play 'Riding to Circle Pines' (at around the 5:34 mark) Doyle notes the similarities between a Minnesota made 'James Olson' neck and the one designed for the world's finest nylon-string acoustic electrics made by California's 'Kirk Sand.' A song with a beautiful opening verse, as well as a bridge / release reminiscent of James Taylor songs - meaning it soars away in a new direction, taking our hearts with it. Stay tuned (around the 10:34 mark) for What a Friend We Have in Jesus - a 160 year old hymn that's been recorded by other finger-style virtuosos, including Australia's Tommy Emmanuel and England's Martin Taylor. Doyle's rendition is more fully developed, including as it does, an opening verse and closing coda he composed. The song's Wiki entry notes that the words of the hymn were “composed in Canada in 1855” and the famous melody was added in 1868
"Joseph Scriven -- it started out as a poem for his mother," says Doyle Dykes of the lyricist for this 160 year old hymn - spoken midway through the best solo guitar version I could even imagine of What a Friend. Tears of joy each time I listen to this, and see the look of peace descend on Mr. Dykes' face while he enjoys hearing the sound of a favorite hymn on maybe his favorite guitar.
Hello Doyle. Will you please lift up a friend of mine and my wife. Her name is Janie and she has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Please keep her in your prayers. Matthew 18:20
Lord, help Janie right now, give her wisdom and comfort from your Holy Spirit as well as all of her family. Give them wisdom in what to do, and let her be healed in Jesus name.

Wish I just had 10 % of your talent
The Olsen guitar is a beautiful instrument..I was a little worried about the zipper on your jacket scratching the back 😀
You and me both!
Thanks for the informed question, Robert McKinnon. Hope (pray) to hear Doyle's answer.
It seems to me the Guild in the video for Sweetwater was maple. If I remember right, they sent it to me a couple of days ahead most all of the others I had never even touched before. I would love to do another guitar with Guild sometime.😊
Thank you for your kind reply, Doyle!
Did you check out the song It is sweet to look beyond by Reba Rambo?
Sounds familiar…
DOYLE DYKES - Riding to Circle Pines (and) What a Friend
“A song I just finished,” says Doyle. “I call it RIDING TO CIRCLE PINES. Circle Pines is where this guitar was made.” It's a 'James Olson' instrument that Doyle calls his 'J-T' model - “same as the one James Taylor plays, with Brazilian Rosewood (back and sides) and a cedar top.”
After playing for comparison his similarly-shaped Gibson 185 - and before he begins to play 'Riding to Circle Pines' (at around the 5:34 mark) Doyle notes the similarities between a Minnesota made 'James Olson' neck and the one designed for the world's finest nylon-string acoustic electrics made by California's 'Kirk Sand.'
A song with a beautiful opening verse, as well as a bridge / release reminiscent of James Taylor songs - meaning it soars away in a new direction, taking our hearts with it.
Beautifully said Mark!
Thanks for the great comments and compliments.
He who has ears let him hear...
J 185 guitars are just first rate. From a guy who had a J 200. Sold it because I'm an electric guitar guy. I just am....
Question: Do you write lyrics to go along with the music/songs you write? If not, how do you fashion your melodies?
I do on some songs… Others like riding to Circle Pines is all about the guitar.
Do you pick your artificial harmonics with your thumb? I've tried using the ring finger and just can't get the hang of it.
Yes.
Thats a bad guitar baby
😂
When you started playing that Olsen, you started channeling James Taylor. You said it was the JT model. Maybe it's the guitar? More probably the Lord!
Or Both! Thanks Bill!
Thank you Doyle
Good morning brother Doyle! From Jeff and Julie In Acworth.
