Doyle, you are a National, and a Heavenly Treasure. Your playing brings us right into the throne room of God where we feel His great love and acceptance towards us in Yeshua, no matter how unworthy we feel at times. You provide a Heavenly oasis of peace, and comfort for us in this world of tribulation. May God continue to bless, and prosper you, and I hope you are training others to play with the same caliber and anointing you have been gifted with.
You'll never know, in this life, just how much of a blessing that you and your family have been to us. As I was singing along, adding the third part, I thought I heard some competition!🙂 I still want to hear the three of you together. There's nothing like family harmony. Hmmm! There might just be a sermon there. Happy new year my friend. Looking forward to seeing you again real soon. God bless.
I know you have a lifetime of hard work into your instruments, but the Good Lord above has certainly blessed you with an amazing gift of communication, not only with your music, but with your glowing message of God's supreme word! Thank you, Doyle! There's no telling just how many folks you have touched with the message of Christ!
Another wonderful string along! Doyle’s skill and talent with the guitar simply cannot be overstated! He used more chord shapes and positions in the opening number than most professional guitarists would play in an entire concert! He did all of that as smoothly and surely as I could touch my nose with my finger! Also, such a great lesson about the nature and value of faith! You don’t often hear lessons drawn from Habakkuk! Doyle clearly has a deep understanding of faith. I’m going to have to check out Skip’s lessons from the Word. Thanks so much, Doyle! May God continue to bless you and to use you to bless so many others!
Doyle Love you brother I've been Skip's "student" as long as you have. At your recommendation I just started "The Bible From 30,000 Feet". What a joy. Smiling from my heart through every second of it. Skip is in the spiritual pocket with every sentence. So prepared. So inspiring. Following the holy spirit so obviously directing him. Love it Love it Love you brother Love you Thanks Cliff in S FL
Good Sunday morning and great picking. Makes me pickup the ‘ol guitar and embarrass myself. Keep up the great music. Thanks to the Lord and my wife is getting better from her operation. God bless you. Rags
Always good, but especially rich for me this morning. Thank you, Doyle for pointing us beyond the principles of Christ to the person of Christ in what you say, and how you play.
Powerful message. Time and time again I see Christ moving. I told a friend of mine that you can’t pin Him down. He’s like a flowing river. You mentioned the story about your L5. I teach guitar lessons and recently felt Impressed to add classical guitar lessons because I have some background. I didn’t have a classical guitar. There was a classical guitar that I sold years ago made by a very respected luthier. I found a used one by the same builder that dropped from $3500 to $1900 and then $1575. That’s an unheard of price for any of his guitars. I will have it later this week. No question that God was in the middle of that transaction.
God has certainly blessed you with an amazing talent and also with some beautiful guitars.......and with a thankful, praise filled heart........ Keep sayin' it...playin' it and prayin' it......!!!
Dear Mr. Dykes. God has graced all humanity with a very thick slice of heaven through your musical talent. You are God's messenger. I can only dream that music can get any better. Even in heaven.
Good morning brother Doyle… see you at Seven C on Friday and Sonshine on Sunday … looking forward to a great weekend! God bless and safe travels… by the way… loved you and Caleb playing the train songs! Man, Caleb can forever more play a guitar …God bless!
Thank you as always Doyle! Your wonderful musicianship and words of encouragement are always a welcome gift. God Bless, and pray you have a wonderful week. ❤
Impossible to walk away from a Sunday-String-Along without a big smile and a glow in your soul. L-5’s and Campellone’s are my weapons of choice. Amen Doyle. ❤️🎶🙏🏻 Thank you brother ! You have blessed us so much.
One of the greatest players ever. I cant help but smile watching. Thanks for all the inspiration to pick better than yesterday. "in the Garden" was absolutely beautiful!
Replete with Les Paul's most famous licks. Love it, at song's end ( 3:15 ) when you realize you hadn't included THE most famous Les Paul song ending of them all -- and add it for our viewing pleasure. Pardon a personal aside. I grew up in Canada's "Ottawa Valley" which had its own "Country Music Hall of Fame" -- including my guitar teacher Bill Shepherd. My Dad recorded us together, me on my Guild 'Slim Jim' ('Starfire' look-alike, minus the Bigsby tremolo tail piece) and Bill playing that very model of Les Paul, a '59 gold top with the old P-90 pickups. I'm a subscriber to DOYLE DYKES and his latest Sunday String-Along (11/17/2025) just popped into my 'window'. "Open Our Eyes Lord." You open mine, Mr. Dykes!
P.S. Love your "second" Gibson L-5 -- Wes Montgomery's weapon-of-choice. The story of Rita buying you "another one." Love the sound you get on DEED I DO my favorite duet by guitar monsters "Les Paul & Chet Atkins" -- yours too?
Stay tuned for 'He Walked With Me'' at the 9:35 mark. Not to be missed! And yes, I spotted a snippet of my favorite jazz song HERE'S THAT RAINY DAY. Thought you could slip that past me, uh?
Pick it up at 24:51 -- that's where it opened (without help from me) a moment ago as Doyle quotes Willy Nelson as saying "What happened yesterday or will happen tomorrow - I can't do a thing about that." The exact sentiment I'm feeling right now, after 3.5 months recovering in a psychiatric geriatric wing of my favorite hospital in Winnipeg. My faith renewed and feeling "120 per cent better" (as a daughter in law said today). Thank you, Jesus for helping and healing me. And thanks to doctors, and nurses and meds! so that I am suddenly "worry free." Free to enjoy Doyle Dykes' musical gifts, as never before. Amen.
Hey Doyle, I appreciate your songs and your words. Open my eyes Lord… so profound. I hope to meet you one day, just to sit and chat. You have been such an inspiration to my wife and I as worship leaders in our church. Bless you brother, appreciate your ministry.
Love that gold top with P90s. really sounds great. who new a Les Paul was a good fingerstyle guitar? Well we all do now! Plus I am here for the message most of all. Love God, love others..life is so simple if you do.
I’m a few days late watching this one. While I’m a devout guild & fender enthusiast, that L5 is just spectacular! Thanks for sharing your gift as always!
Loved those beginning tunes... tapping toes in the shower before Sunday worship... Gold top LP is cool... that last run down to the thud made me laugh out loud... with my eyes open !!!
Thanks so very much for your comment. Your channel has brought a refreshing to our lives. I am so glad we all met up. I’d love to do a String-Along with y’all sometime! Uncle Paul & Tipper too!
Stop the presses. Pick it up at the 9:32 mark as Doyle Dykes slows it down to play a favorite hymn as only he can. Late in life, on a day when he had complimented Mr. Dykes for his 'faith' - filled rendition of hymns, someone asked 'Mr. Guitar' is there anyone now that you would "pay to see." Chet's response, without hesitation, "Oh, someone like Doyle Dykes." Thank you, Lord for all your blessings, especially the musical ones that bring us all together 'in heart.'
Oh my that L5 sounds mighty fine... love those 6s/13s... Now ya got me going crazy in D with that open our eyes song (well a start) and exploring harmonies...getting more acquainted with music and the instrument is just fun ... got many guitars but if I dont go out I really just play my little acoustic.... two students had an argument I wont mention what but each had gone to the teacher separately and both were told they were right ...the two rights conflicted.... so they go to the teacher together and say we cant both be right, right? The teacher said, "You're right"
Just re-visited this and it opened to Doyle Dykes' concluding words -- which went straight to my heart. Pick up at 32:04 "So open our eyes, God -- show us what you want us to do . . . "During this election . . . every time I saw Elon Musk -- the richest man in the world -- with this shirt on that said 'OCCUPY MARS!" That's his dream, that's his vision he wants other people to see that. If we can see it, we can believe it . . . the things that God puts in your heart . . . "Father God, open our eyes Lord, and may this be a blessing to someone who's put their dreams on the back burner . . . Even God when he spoke to Abraham he said 'Look at the stars' and when you showed him the promised land, you showed him a land of milk and honey. "Show us what YOU would want us to see. Make me what you want me to be. In Jesus name. Amen."
Did I mention this is my new favorite Sunday String-Along? From the opening notes of a Les Paul medley, but played as Chet Atkins might have -- channeled by Doyle Dykes with some licks 'all his own.'
As always, another great String-A-Long! I’m also really enjoying you and Caleb on Blind Pig and the Acorn on Saturdays. Caleb is also amazing on the guitar, we need to see him with you on some String-A-Longs!
Nice Sunday String Along ! Watching and drinking coffee. Do you play the electrics and acoustics thru that Rivera amp I see sitting behind you to your left. I see it’s turned on . Do you travel with the Rivera ?

I hope so. Thanks my friend.

Just bought a Shubb Fine tune capo. Oh my goodness! Incredible tone, pitch, etc...
Always love hearing you play Doyle! Such a blessing. What’s the name of the first songs you played??
The world is waiting for the Sunrise and Bye Bye Blues 😃🎸
HOWDY. HAVE A GOOD ONE.
Yes sir! You too Jer.
Nice Sunday String Along ! Watching and drinking coffee. Do you play the electrics and acoustics thru that Rivera amp I see sitting behind you to your left. I see it’s turned on . Do you travel with the Rivera ?
It is going through the Rivera, but also a Roland course behind me on the floor.
😄❤️👍
The world says " I'll believe it when I see it". Followers of Christ SHOULD say, " I'll see it when I believe it" 🙂🙏🎸
That’s good Luke… That’ll preach.
@doyledykesmusic preach it brother!
Do you rehearse these songs preparing for Sunday Morning?
Not very much.
What’s the name of that song at 3:38?
Stompin at the Savoy

Nice!
As a child, did you take official lessons? Or just pick it up listening to others around you?
I just listen to records a lot mostly. Chat Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed, Les Paul, of course
Chet would be very proud.
