Those are such great hymns that I miss hearing. I cried so much during this sweet hour of prayer, my heart is seeking his peace. That is very heartwarming to hear, "get your hopes up' certainly during times when my hopes are down. I heard God's still small voice ring loud and clear as you spoke about "NOW" what a great way to understand our GOD. What a blessing Sunday String Along!
Wonderful worship and Word, my brother! You stated that you are not a worship leader, but I found myself singing along and worshiping the Lord as you played and sang! What a blessing you are to the Body of Christ!
Awesome message and worship! Thank you so much Doyle! You are a blessing! I hope you have a blessed week! Prayers for Caleb in his journey with his new home! God is great!
Many thanks for the gorgeous music and pleasant ever-rich, praise of God. Teaching from the Word. Thanks also for including vocal praise with your guitar.
Just got home from Church and wanted to "string along" Wow that Olsen is stunning and you really breathe life into it. "Allways ony mind "is so beautiful, "My Jesus I Love Thee" was so inspiring I love this one and other old time Gospel songs. Anyways thanks and blessings from the Silicon Valley, California!
I read your book, ( The Lights of Marfa ) this week. It is truly amazing, to say the least. Now this. String Along has God all over it. Thank you so much Mr. Dykes for minding God.....
Amen to all the comments this morning. This was a deeply personal string-along. 1) Phil Keaggy is one of my favorite players since the mid-70s. Olsen is his most used guitar of choice. 2) You mentioned pernambuco wood. I'm heading to Brazil soon for 5 weeks of ministry in the state of Pernambuco. My history there includes guitars (taking them as gifts, playing), and an important moment connected to the Paubrasil tree. 3) It's always been about Jesus and the Kingdom of God (those songs!), and always will be! 4) I've been struggling to know and follow the guidance of God for 2 years. So, put together, this string-along is a very significant affirmation of the Lord's work in my life, past, present and future! I have no idea what I'll be doing or where beyond my time in Pernambuco, Brazil, but this was more than enough to keep me going forward. God bless you, brother. Keep playing, praying and proclaiming the Truth. Frank Penna, Wichita, KS.
Doyle, I believe that there are few "accidents" in life. I first saw you perform on Sweetwater with a 12 string, and since have become a follower of both your musical endeavors and your Spiritual guidance. Thank you and God Bless you!
Thanks again for your delightful guitar picking and your wise and truthful words. Much appreciated! Sometimes when we're desperate to hear God's voice on an issue it's good to just keep walking daily, moment by moment with the Lord. That way, you know you're gonna end up where God wants you! Afterwards you look back in amazement at how God led you through stuff, and into his pre-planned situations, and all along, you weren't aware of his voice, or any leading. Then, when he does speak, oh boy! do you know it's him! Thanks again!
Doyle. In your playing, and your words from the Lord, my soul finds rest. Bless the Lord Jesus for that. I’ve gotten a lot of music given to me by the Lord. I very rarely set out to write a song. All of them have come from Him. If I’m driving, after about 15 minutes I’ll get a few notes, and maybe a phrase that goes with them, and then the rest comes to me in a day, a month, or even a year. When I start to write a song, I never know how it will end or what it will say till it is finished, always a blessing to me-a privilege. Quite a number of years ago my wife made me record some of them so she would have a record of them should something happen to me-but that’s another story. About a year ago I shared some of my music/songs with my pastor-and never heard a word about it. Then6 months ago he came to me during a men’s meeting and told me he wanted me to write a song for Easter Sunday. I was shocked at first, made a quick recovery and agreed to do it, then started praying like mad. I worked on the song for 5 months, and I was never able to make all the parts fit together. I was getting nervous, thinking I would have to go to the pastor and tell him that I couldn’t do it. Then last Monday I woke up at about three in the morning, not unusual for me, and went to the kitchen to find something to eat, then went back to bed at about 330am. I laid down, and felt the Lord drop all the nuts and bolts of an Easter song onto my spirit. I had a great deal of trouble going back to sleep and in the end told the Lord I would trust Him for the rest in the morning. It isn’t my usual fare. Upbeat from the point of view of the disciples the crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, then a second part towards the congregation to bring anyone who hasn’t made Jesus their Lord to a point of decision… all there in a couple of days. Rough now but after a few more drafts I think people will like it. I call it a miracle. It has to be finished and arranged in time for anyone playing and singing it to practice… but IT IS THERE. Thank you Jesus. Doyle, keep on rolling. You’re doing great. Doug
Love your Luthier experience. I would like to relate that in my lesson today about treasuring up the word of God and always being in His service no matter what we are doing....By the way the scripture reference is 1 Chronicles 16:33.
This is something that I needed to hear..struggling to know the voice of God as of now in my family situation..please pray that I would hear His voice and follow Him ..thanks Doyle
I believe you will Steve. Be Still and listen. You’re going to see Him in a different light than ever before. God wants to help you and bless you big! Praying for you and be in Agreement on this.
Good morning Doyle, thank you again for a wonderful message. You are truly an amazing gifted guitarist and man of God. Love the sound of the Olson. I have a Mike Baranik guitar, he may have been at that Healdsburg guitar show. We thoroughly enjoyed the concert last weekend and it was such a pleasure to meet you. God bless!
Thanks for sharing the Sunday String-a-Longs. Your videos have become part of my Sunday worship. I would love to see a video where you explain some of your chord voicings and how I can advance beyond "cowboy chords" and bar chords to make arrangements more interesting.
Thanks for all you do!!! Your playing and message are so inspiring, now I'm going to go throw my guitar in the garbage! Just kidding of course, you actually make me want to play it more and more....thank you so much from the bottom of my heart as you fill my heart with love, tranquility and the universal language everyone knows....music!
You're always obedient to the Father. Thank you for that. If you'd record those songs you did at the beginning of this video, and let Haley sing them, I'd buy it, and I believe everyone would. I heard you say once that Haley had a special anointing to sing. I agree. God bless you.🙂
Just got two of your cds! And, yes, I've seen Eric Johnson perform. And one time I saw him just walking around at one of our big Guitar Festivals we have here in Dallas.... He was looking at guitars. What else.
Good morning Brother Doyle. I haven't heard Unclouded Day is so long and it sounds great on that guitar. I need to practice that on my Giannini guitar. Thanks for the motivation.
I was just playing “You Were Always on My Mind” last week. What a lovely melody! I was playing “My Jesus I Love Thee” just yesterday! Do you have a hidden camera or recorder in my house?😂😂😂 You are playing my song list!🙏 Must be a God thing-

Hello, Doyle. I'm the fellow who is recovering from a broken neck. I'm continuing to recover, and I listen to your music every night. I love your album Full Circle, it's the finest guitar playing I've ever heard. My favorite composition on the album is, When she comes back again. Oh my goodness, it's hauntingse and glorious! La Certza (the opening number) is a close second! I've been listening to several of your other albums and they're all my favorite! I did something a little bit crazy, and bought a Chapman Stick (10 string). I've been playing the guitar for over fifty years and I'm still having issues with my left arm. Great video, eliciting some great 'comments' - including this, my favorite from “Sideman 71”: “Do you think our guitars love us back? It sure feels like it. And that one seems to be loving you back as well.” Reminded of a James Taylor song, composed with Chet Atkins in mind - the only artist to record it, other than James himself who incidentally, owns the same style 'James Olson' guitars that Doyle does). [Mr. Taylor wrote almost 50 years ago:] “Me and my guitar, always in the same mood - I am mostly flesh and bone and he is mostly wood. Never does grow impatient for the 'changes' I don't know …. If he can't get to heaven? Maybe I don't want to go!” [Just one version posted to TH-cam 15 years ago by “DaffyDoug”:] th-cam.com/video/arRu-uSGXaU/w-d-xo.html
Ev'ry now and then, I'm a lonely man, and it's nice to know that I've got a friend, who'll put his power right in my hand . . . and all I've got to do is the best I can (if I can).
The Father and Son do not lead and guide and tell us to sin ... sin is the transgression of the Law... ... and if we don't admit what those sins are (not that we are simply sinners) and continue in them.. there is trampling of his sacrifice and there will be no longer remission ... repent means to change and do not sin because it is right and good not to do it. Thus, seek to learn where you (as the individual) are sinning against the Most High and do like his Son Yeshua did and does. In the mean time keep trying your best ... stumbling in sin (repented of) is not the same as practicing sin. The law is not done away ... Even in the "OT" people were not to hate their brother in their heart.... Oh yes, the Kingdom way is the way to seek and do...
@@doyledykesmusic It is so nice to know there are fellows in the calling and walk. I am in a very rural area in the southern Oregon coast and your playing etc. helped me to pick up and play again. Refrain:
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,

His faithful foll’wer I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.
Sometimes ’mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, o’er troubled sea,
Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.
Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me.
And when my task on earth is done,
When by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.
