@matthewryanLCSW I'm very excited about it. I recently passed the LCSW exam, so I'm in the research phase. What Headway has to offer gives me great relief.
Thank you for the analysis. I had used both Alma and Headway. I ended up resigning from both. Overall, Headway was more user friendly with faster payout, but ultimately, Alma's CEO seems conscientious and on the side of the members (therapists). Headway kept credentialing me with new panels without giving me much time to opt out, and left it entirely to me to de-panel myself. When I asked Headway why it kept doing this, the support person didn't even try to pretend. The answer was: we want insurance companies to see that we can get them a lot of providers, and that's why we don't let you opt out. On paper, it looks like Headway can panel a lot of providers, who will never accept clients with that insurance. So Headway is just another phantom network. Way to solve accessibility, Headway!

Your videos have helped me so much! Im a seasoned clinician with 10 years experience but have never had to do my own credentialling or billing. Question that might be stupid but hey, gotta ask: if I were to use Alma to get credentialled then terminated their services, would I stay credentialled if I switched to another platform, or would I have to start from scratch?
I'm thinking of breaking away to do private practice. Concerned about the time it'll take me to ramp up to at least 20 patients weekly. Also trying to figure out who's the best platform to start with overall considering the above. What would you suggest? BTW, I'm licensed in Texas & Illinois. Thx.
Great questions. It would be a great one to ask in the consultation community where I respond to all questions directly and in depth. Feel free to try it for a month with no commitment or cost using code FREEMONTH2. The link to sign up is here....www.matthewryanlcsw.com/signup
Hi Matt, thanks for the video. I’m interested in your experience with payout time frame for Alma vs Headway? I known Headway has a two week payout period but I heard that Alma has quicker payouts. What’s your experience been?
Alma has some good features but there are some very poor features as well. Alma charges you per month, it is not robust enough to be considered a stand alone EHR, referrals are very erratic, and if clients do not pay their invoices with in 60 days Alma deducts that from your estimated pay out. The forums for therapists are very helpful. I've not gotten any referrals from Headway but it's a lot more stable. Neither platform have ROI's in them
Hello if I have a small contracting company with a few independent contractors/practitioners, which platform would you recommend for filing claims or billing? Thanks.
Hi there, ALMA has started to say that they don't work with group practices, which only leaves Headway. This is if you are also looking to be credentialed. If just for billing, it may make more sense to just use your EHR like SimplePractice.
The group im with is using headway; however, I like the simplicity of simple practice. The EHR intake forms are amazing and assigning homework through the platform . Can I use Simple Practice for the EHR and Headway for the billing?
With Alma, since they credential me, would I be able to see clients in person from my area or just ones they send my way? I haven’t started a private practice yet but trying to learn everything I can! Thank you in advance 🫶🏻
This is so helpful! Thank you very much for taking the time to put this together!
Amazing. I am glad you found it helpful
Thank you for your videos. Been listening and getting great advice and headway on starting my Nurse Practitioner business.
Amazing. So glad it is helpful
How is it going? I had a consultation today with Headway.
@@shyranj Awesome. How was it

What's your caseload look like & How long did it take to ramp up with headway? TIA

Amazing. I am so glad you have found the videos helpful. You are correct. If you leave ALMA or Headway you will no longer be credentialed.

Will you make a video and compare these with Therapy Notes
Unfortunately, I can't because I have never used therapy notes
Hi Matt, thanks for the video. I’m interested in your experience with payout time frame for Alma vs Headway? I known Headway has a two week payout period but I heard that Alma has quicker payouts. What’s your experience been?
Yes, Headway pays out biweekly while ALMA pays out weekly. Both are consistent in that cadence

Yep that also works!
Do not use Simple Practice as your biller, it is a headache.
This is actually really helpful. Thanks for sharing this.

You can see anyone you want through ALMA. It's just a billing tool
