Hi Matt, You do need an LLC or a PLLC if you want to avoid law suits. A small sole proprieter can be sued and they can put liens on your houses, wages, and other legal issues. It's work the 400 bucks to set one up. You can then write things off and you have more protections. Other platforms that employ independent contractors want a 1099 number
Hi There thanks so much for sharing. That is helpful. In NY one must establish a PLLC and there is a publication they need to do as well which cranks the cost up far beyond 400 dollars. Additionally, in NY a PLLC does not protect a person from being sued personally.
Trying to start a very teeny tiny private practice while I continue to work. I already made mistakes on the paperwork to open a pllc 😭 but I'm not giving up!
Can you talk more about supervisory billing for MSWs I have an npi 1 and an npi 2. I know MSWs can bill because many of our internships in graduate school billed but there’s no information out there about it. All I’ve found is that Cigna and Aetna allow it
Yes I actually made another video all about it that you will find helpful. Also, if your internship was at an agency or large institution they often have different contracts that cant be compared to a group practice. With that being said students typically can not provide services under incident to billing in a private group practice setting.... th-cam.com/video/p11acXESwH4/w-d-xo.html
Great video.
Thanks so much
