Chapter 25: Helen and Arthur go to London where they embark on a frenetic-paced series of activities. Helen is uncomfortable inasmuch as she is expected to wear flashy clothes and jewels, as well as act as hostess to Arthur's acquaintances. Helen is feeling tired, and Arthur decides abruptly that it is time for her to go home. She wants to stay with him, but he argues that it isn't good for her to stay and that he has some business dealings to attend to and she would be in his way. He says he will be home in about a week.
Milicent Hargraves gets engaged and married to Hattersly
Chapter 26: It is hunting season and the Lowborough and Annabella, Grimsby and Hargraves are invited to Grassmere. Huntingdon flirts with Annabella quite shamelessly, which is painful for both Lowborough and Helen. Helen scolds Arthur about it and he says he will stop. Annabella says some cutting words to Helen about her marriage to Arthur. Helen wishes there were a third woman in the party so she didn't have to listen to Annabella all the time.
