Welcome to my channel! I read illustrated short stories and complete books, which are in the public domain. All the newer videos have multiple pictures throughout the readings.
I am an English teacher and my idea for this channel is to read for myself and for others. You can watch the video while listening, or you can do something else and listen. I find it's easiest to concentrate on the details of the story while doing a task that doesn't require concentration - like folding laundry - ha!
For short story videos, I include a small discussion with questions at the end. I also include some points of comprehension at the start of the video. I would love to know your opinions and ideas from the readings.
For novels, I include a short summary of the chapter in the episode notes and might make a comment or two from the previous chapter, but I mostly just read the chapter.

For the next couple of months, Gilbert has no contact with Helen. He tries to get news from her through her brother, Frederick Lawrence. Frederick, despite not having sufficiently recovered from his illness, ventures out at night to visit his sister, Helen at Wildfell Hall. Lawrence doesn't disclose this right away to Gilbert but Gilbert easily finds out. Gilbert wants to know if she mentioned him at all. Lawrence says they spoke of him a very small amount since Helen is determined to forget Gilbert, which displeases him.
Gilbert continues to see Frederick Lawrence often. Lawrence has gone to visit Jane Wilson, who he used to visit frequently. Gilbert confronts him with this. Gilbert doesn't like it. He tells Lawrence that Jane hates Helen, and that Frederick shouldn't have anything to do with a woman who has such ill will towards his dear sister. Frederick doesn't want to talk about it, but Gilbert insists, physically stopping Lawrence's pony to force him to listen. Lawrence is upset with Gilbert, but ultimately stops seeing Miss Wilson, which gratifies Gilbert.

Sound quality not good. But also if you have troubling saying "irretrievable", maybe get a friend to read.

I sometimes mispronounce words, but not too often. The quality will improve. I hope you liked the story by Edith Wharton.

This is one of the most moving endings to a book I have ever read. I hope you have a chance to read or listen to the whole book.
I did it! I read the whole book, Crime and Punishment, in under a month. I really enjoyed reading it aloud and making summaries for each of the chapters. If you watch this, I hope you enjoy it like I did 😊

Awesome comment! Thank you. I read this a few years back, too. I agree with you saying, "classic for a reason". I think I read it too quickly, without remembering details and who the different characters were to each other. I am enjoying it so much more this time. I like writing the summaries for myself, and also for anyone else who would like to read them. Also, if somebody wanted to start partway through the book, I was hoping the summaries might help them begin wherever they would like.
@@classicbookstories I think it took me a while to read, and I still didn’t remember all the details. Lol Think it’s a book that you can re-read it several times and always pick up on something new. For sure the summaries provide a lot of options for the viewer/listener. Keep at it. 😎
@@cadowyn735 Thanks for your kind encouragement! I completely agree with what you said about picking up something new each time. I am astonished how much philosophy, for example, is in the latest chapter I have read (Part 5, Chapter 4). I won't even touch on the profound ideas presented - the sliding scale of good and evil, depending upon who and what upon what circumstance, etc. Haha - all I do is summarize the events as they occur. I'm very glad if they can be of use to anyone. Have a lovely day! 😊
