    I’m an appliance repair tech. Sounds like your GE washer in the back ground. Nice video

    Hey man thanks for the video! Looks pretty simple to get apart. I was overwhelmed by all of your uploads at one time lol thanks!

      LMAO, yeah, I had no internet for almost a month, and I was able to get the videos up - then the computer died, and I just got it running about a week ago. So yeah, just sorta pushed them all up at once!

    What i did to clean all of the vein pieces and the unison ring was i soaked the small pieces in a thing of acetone for a bit to just eat off most of the soot and then i used a soft steel wire brush on each one. then i good a sanding bit and some alcohol to clean the unison ring itself then just the brush and alcohol to clean the exhaust housing itself. then the cold side i just used the stuff you get on the back side of the sponge and some brake clean and it worked really well. wont look brand new but will definitely get all the soot and dirt out of where you have any

    Thank you for the video. I and many others would be very grateful for a video showing the removal, cleaning and re-installation of the Turbos for the 2008-2010 F350 6.4. I've found many for the 6.0 and nothing for the 6.4.

      Clay and Susan Gibson I would love to, but I'd need a 2008+ Super Duty to do it on!

      uberDoward Perhaps that could be arranged. Where are you located and how much would you charge me to perform this on my 2008 F350 ?, you could make a video for others using my truck...sounds like a win - win for both of us... :)

      Well, I'm located in Jacksonville, FL :) I'd have to look into what exactly it entails - if it's anything like the 6.0L, it's most of a day's worth of work - took me all weekend when I did mine, doing the video!

    You have some of the best 6.0 repairs vids. I like how you show everything pretty much step by step. I plan on tearing into mine next year when I hit 200,000 miles with many of the same repairs as you have done. I was curious if your MPGs went up after the egr and exhaust updates? What tuner are you using?

    • @uberDoward
      @uberDoward  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well thanks! No tuner yet, but I intend to get one around Christmas time. My mileage didn't change much - but the previous owner had straight piped the truck, so it wasn't so much flow that I picked up. Over stock, I'm sure it would have made a good difference!

    When you were pushing the vane plate. Is the actuator still connected on the outside of the turbo? If not that appeared to be sticking pretty bad.

    • @uberDoward
      @uberDoward  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The actuator is internal, IIRC.

    • @radzer0966
      @radzer0966 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +uberDoward makes sense than. I'm used to seeing external ones.

    • @uberDoward
      @uberDoward  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Slight difference :) The actuator is hydraulically controlled by the oil pressure (that's what the big solenoid is in the center cartridge of the turbo)

    Is that the washer or dryer making background noise? lol

    • @uberDoward
      @uberDoward  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably the dryer :)

    Hi can a turbo on the 6.0 cause a blow by or oil consumption?

    • @uberDoward
      @uberDoward  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cause blow by? No. Oil consumption? Yes - but the turbo wouldn't be the cause! A clogged up air filter can cause a large vacuum over the PVC system and draw in oil if the oil has no 'trap' to prevent it.

    • @Denkha94
      @Denkha94 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thank you for replying. the air filter is clean . I forgot to tell you. their is little bit of oil drips down on the drive way when I park the truck over night. its coming from the bell housing of the transmission, its motor oil. every time I drive the truck 10-40 miles the dip stick indicator reads half way. also I have a blow by when engine warms up. thank you.

    • @uberDoward
      @uberDoward  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like it's time for a rebuild!

    • @Denkha94
      @Denkha94 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      how many miles do you think the 6.0 will go with regular oil changes, until the lifters start to fail.

    • @uberDoward
      @uberDoward  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on if you keep it stock. I haven't heard of lifters failing in a 6.0L, though...

    Wrong, the cast on the turbo where the unison ring sits gets rusty , why didn’t you clean that? Ive seen unison rings stuck to that side, you only cleaned half the problem
    But I’ve only been doing this since 2000

  • @paxton7284
    @paxton7284 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why would I watch your video on how to clean a turbo when you have already cleaned it prior to this video,useless info if you call that this video has any info in it , a waste of time

      You do realize that was a cheap Chinese HF chisel, right? Not exactly stellar quality to begin with - and yeah, both my father and my grandfather were pretty clear - the right tool is the one you've got available that can get the job done!

      Still ruined!! But great video! I just did my turbo. Replaced not rebuild but I did check the veins and mine just fell apart.
