6.0s are so underrated. People who buy into the bullshit have never truly had their hands on one. As a whole its the best diesel platform of all time
😂😂 the top upgrade to a 6.0 is to sell it asap… I had one bulletproofed, took extremely good care of it and constantly things went wrong with it. Wasted countless days replacing and fixing. If it wasn’t one thing it was another. Unfortunately I’m not the only one.. everything bad you ever heard about these pieces of crap is 100% true.
Best day was the day I got rid of it and got a 6.7
@@powerstroke6.7”Bulletproof” is a very broad term
It's because of the emissions they put on it and dumbasses that put a race tune in it and then try to tow 10000lb trailers up a grade and blow head gaskets then hop on the forums sitting on it. We'll the larger trucks and busses and dump trucks they put them in didn't have to have a egr and guess what they never had any problems. The 6.0 is a badass ass engine and going from a concept to reality in less than a year I'd say Navistar did one hell of a job. People don't talk shit about the 6.7 and that things has way more problems then the 6.0 and 7.3 combined. The problem is all the emissions bullshit they make them have. That's y there are no reliable diesels on the roads now days.from cars to pick ups to semis. They all break down more then they should.
@@powerstroke6.7sorry to yell u this bud but the 6.7 is a bigger piece of crap and I've been working on and building these ford diesels everyday since the 7.3 powerstroke came out. If u dont know what ur doing or taking it to people that don't know what they're doing ur always gonna have problems. Not the the engines fault.
@@Chevydude1982 let’s just agree to disagree. You stated nothing but opinions and feelings, no facts.
If the 6.0 is so good why didn’t navistar or ford keep the platform? Because it’s a disaster. People have made careers off of working on 6.0’s.
I’ve never met a 6.0 owner in real life that likes the engine, it’s always some guy on internet that “works on them all the time” that talks how good they are. 🤣
Great video Cody! We reached out to O'Dawgs and let them know about your fitment issues just to be sure. Otherwise, can't wait to see the next video!
Glad to see you guys actually watch and pay attention to the customer. Do you possibly know if this issue. Has been resolved?
Issue still hasn’t been resolved. I just purchased an odawgs s2r and once bolted on it didn’t fit. Odawg told me to grind it down…hahah
Have that same one on my truck. After doing it I noticed the truck just pulls harder. I also noticed even on the 150 hp tune with stock turbo and stock injectors I get a teeny puff of smoke right as the turbo builds and then it's just clean hard power. Love that damn truck.
I put an s3r on my truck and the best piece of advice I have is install the bolts in the intake manifold while it’s still off of the truck on the bench using the intake gaskets to hold everything in place. Makes it so much easier and there’s no chance you can drop a bolt while doing it.
I know many guys use this method with great success.
I installed the S3 on my 6.0. I also did the BPD oil cooler relocate. I had no issues whatsoever. Cody I really enjoy your videos. Great work. I like the Ford 6.0 so much I just purchased a 05 KR with 45k miles. Gonna do the same to it as my last. I have your uppipes on my previous. All going geat with them. I pulled over 17k 4000 miles last spring and everything kept in check. Again. good job.
Quality information and put out in a easy to follow manner
I went with the S3R intake, Icon aluminum heads from KDD, 1.5 turbo from KC Turbos, stage 1 cam from River City, new FoMoCo lifters, oil cooler, HPOP, LPOP, water pump, fan switch, FICUM. Switched to CAT ELC red and a coolant filter from KDD. It's a 2004 and I dumped all that air damper crap up top and it now looks like a 2005. Oh yeah, tunes from Warren. It's a beast now. Pulling a gooseneck with a 1973 Plymouth Roardrunner thru the Ozarks in 95 degree + never got more than a 8 degree delta except when the ECT drops quickly on downgrades - EOT doesn't drop as quickly. EGT's under 1100 max. Calculated 22 MPG aveage empty at 70 MPH (can't afford to fix the overhead computer now!) Whistles like an old Kenworth! 186K miles on the clock - all the crosshatching on the cylinder walls was still factory new looking. Run Rotella T6, 5W-40 and I threw in some Archoil on the 1st change. Didn't lift the cab - pulled out the front.
How much did all that run you? Did you do the work yourself?
@@ericbalmes3820 Way too much and hopefully my wife doesn't read this! A few years ago I would have tackled it myself but i'm too old and fat these days. I had a highly recommended diesel shop in Inola, Oklahoma do the work (I live in NW Arkansas about 60 miles to the east). I'm surprised he didn't charge me extra for watching but I tried my best to keep my mouth shut most of the time. I gathered up the parts first and when I had them all together, I loaded them up in the back and took the truck in. The shop purchased a few odds and ends locally from the Ford dealer but it was mainly a labor-only deal. Cost-wise, all in, I landed at about $15K but I started with a really nice Lariat that I bought for $13.5K with 148,000 on the odometer and a blown head gasket. So the way I look at it, I have a really nice F350 Superduty for $28.5K. I wouldn't have balked at a really nice 350 SD on a dealer lot so I think I came out OK. The worst part was waiting for the heads from KDD. . . they took 6 months to arrive during COVID.
from what I learned from a cat tech and failed lifters I seen in 6.0,
I wouldn't run rotella in anything except for chainsaw bar oil
@jesusisreal3209 you're right on that one. The new T6 formula is absolute shit. I stick to 15w-40 motorcraft or shaeffers
@@blooiefps9304 you’re suggesting dino oil over full synthetic? Can you post what analysis you’ve read that would put a full synth below a higher ash conventional oil?
Definitely on the list for my truck. I wish I would have done it before my compound build.
What I’ve come to realize is how air restrictive these engines are. They just don’t flow! This along with a few other air flow related products can SUBSTANTIALLY boost performance when combined(double the airflow from factory). I’m hoping to capitalize on this with the sled pull truck. Your truck would seriously benefit with the compound set up.
Yeah, I have heard that just sometimes that scoop falls out from that back tube and it even makes a slight difference for the better. I mean, if you're not lucky enough to have a full LLD set of pipes yet that is.
Best upgrade I did to my 03 6.0 and yes lots of pull and mopower baby.
Did you have to change anything else aside from just the intake?
Great video man. What I really would like to know is what mpg ended up doing. I expected there to be a power increase for sure. Ive only seen one comment so far on mpg, and it looks better than I thought.
Looking forward to the comparison video I’ve yet to see someone post one
I just put mine on and haven't driven the truck much. Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to check my clearance now! Also, almost impossible to tell until its seated due to the fact you have to compress that giant coolant donut with the manifold. I also had to grind a small amount off the lower ear of my alternator and shim the alternator up about .075" to clear an access plug.
Thanks for mentioning the alternator, I’ve ran into a few that the access plug hit the alternator as well. Especially guys that have larger alternators… but even the stock alternators can hit.
Hello there,I just want to check with you if it is popssible to change from the permanent brake and accelerator pedals to the adjustable type and also if it is prewired in the truck. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you asap.
I use vacuum hose to slide over the head of the bolt on applications like this
I want to see this thing paired with the banks intercooler kit
This should work no problem with the bulletproof diesel oil cooler housing. I dont se any clearance issues.
Dyno results would be siiiick 👍😎. Great job, thanks again and hopefully ODogs can get their foundry to modify that mold a slight bit. I mean, what 6.0 practically hasn't had at least some work done to it by now?
I am wondering if the BD exhaust manifold would be another good airflow improvement for ya.
That, and I am curious about the Speed of Aire dimpled pistons also in a 6.0
Right! More than not, almost every 6.0 is gonna have some work done.
The dually has ceramic coated RCD log style manifolds 😎
@@LeftLaneDiesels wheres the after video?
I leave my turbo in when pulling the intake manifold, I've cut off the piece that holds the tubular bit
Someday maybe! lol I've alway's wanted to upgrade my intake either buy an Odowg or try cutting open and porting out one of my half dozen stock intakes kickin around my garage. Just wonder if my slightly used 250k valve springs can take all that extra flow lol
You don’t have an extra 04+ do ya?
Hope you have better lucky with egts then me I saw zero change in mine
Did you feel a difference with the tuners stock tunes
I have an aftermarket oil/air cooler and filter relocation kit, i wonder if the oil cooler housing is removed or modified so this manifold wont work for me?
Any tutorial on the regulated return and FB delete?
I thought the manifold came with a metal tube that you slide in the hole first and then the bolt so there isn't a chance of dropping into the engine? Thanks
That's 243 Loctite you used I hope.
Why wouldn't OWDAWGS add 1/8" to the manifold where it mates to the cylinder head to eliminate the clearance problems for all installers?
How do them icon heads hold up? Not many solid tried reviews
Can you install this intake while retaining the factory oil and fuel filters?
How do you space out an idler pulley?
I believe I was that customer 2 weeks prior. I also purchased mine from kc but I contacted odawgs directly and they told me there was no way it was a issue with there product that “we sell to many with no problems for it to be a issue on our side” lol good to see after all it wasn’t something I did. I also had to grind mine and have had 5 sled pulls with no issues so far.
No way! That’s crazy, thanks for commenting. Yea I’ve installed a bunch of these and never had an issue. So I was shocked when this happened.
@@LeftLaneDiesels yep it just sucked cutting up a part I paid 900 for lol other than that they make a damn good product and them oil cooler cover are not cheap
@@double_tap_3793 I agree, I took away enough material that I started to get pretty nervous. A lot of time and money to tear it all back apart 🤦♂️ Hopefully it was just a freak thing and we were just the unlucky guys haha
I’ve seen a handful of videos of people who have had clearance issues (mainly the idler pulley)… you would think O Dawg would take this into consideration for future castings knowing that majority of 6.0s have had or will have head work done. I’ve been considering this upgrade for a while, but am worried about the same issue. I hate having to do work twice.
@@Powerstroke7911 from what I understand all odawgs intakes will come with a washer to space out the idler pulley. In regards to clearance of the oil cooler, I don’t think this will be a continued issue. Just wanted to make sure I added it to the video to make sure guys check for clearance in this specific spot to alleviate doing the job twice.
Dude that sick headache rack. Where can I get one.
Hey pal, you ever get an App Egr Icp codes and wrench light all at the same time?
Great videos btw!
Yes typical that is a 5v reference issue. Could be sensors-wiring-and or pcm.
Typically need it to act up ALOT to diagnose. Very tricky, I hate dealing with those ones haha
@@LeftLaneDiesels lol time to hit the pinpoint book, thanks bud!
Do you like the edge or the Sct better
Would this be similar in the 6.4 ?
Where’s that update video!?
Didn’t you install the s3r on one of your older video’s? What was the update on that one, how was the fitment? I’d like to run the s3r and possibly the BP air to oil set up
The race truck has the S3R. No fitment issues at all. I was running the bpd oil cooler delete plate so there was TONS of room.
I just got an odawg last week and tried installing today. Running into the same issue bottoming out on top of oil cooler housing. Seems way off, I’ve filed plenty off and worried there’s not enough to make it clear….then what?!
Who did you buy it from?
When I installed my Odawg i had a major exhaust leak and I could not figure out where is came from. I took mine off and figured out that it was at the egr cooler and leaking at the gasket. Unfortunately I didn’t reinstall it and sold it, wish it worked for me!
Moral of the story…if you go aftermarket don’t give up so easily
@@MacJank7 ya it is my only truck and need it to be dependable for towing my 5th wheel. Odawg’s design is great and I would love to buy another one just a few things I didn’t like that made me not reinstall it on my daily driver. First the wiring harness is really stretch out with the height of the Odawg intake. Which most likely won’t be an issue but with my on harness caused me some concern. Second having a larger than stock alternator you have to space the alternator so it won’t touch the top of the manifold. That put more strain on the stock belt which might not be a big deal but made me uncomfortable. If it was a play truck I wouldn’t care but since I tow with my family on long trips in the California heat i decided to stay stock here.

Were you able to Buy that orange donut o ring separate? Or did it come in a kit? If it came by it self wat is the part number?
Yep purchased it separately in preparation of installing the intake manifold. #W301767
Will it work with the Banks ram air intake elbow?
Yes it will!
And as for surfacing heads causing a problem it's not like you're taking off a quarter inch it wouldn't be that hard for them to allow for thousandths
First!!!
will blue thread locker withstand the heat?
Yes it will
Bummer about the oil cooler housing.
Less than ideal! But we worked through it and it will definitely be put in the memory bank for future installs.
Junck yard is the first upgrade.
Well look at you with your little truck with training wheels .
Nothing for the early 2003 units.
Hey, left lane diesels, wheres the video of after these upgraded...you said you recorded before and after spool up and stufff....cant find that vid anywhere
You would think they would be able to compensate for variances in production differences as in allowing for the pulley and whatever else. But it would probably cost them a fortune to go back and change their casting.. and their statement that oh we've never had this problem before it's not our product well b******* nothing's perfect in this world.
Well that's a waste of time and money for a part that is faulty
Intro way too long.
The best upgrade for a 6.0 is to throw it in the metal scrap bin and install a Cummins.
So the whole video is for not, it should say sumn like ," don't buy this shit it don't fit" or sumn
