  • Hey ARMY fam! Welcome back to my channel! Today's video is going to be something a little different and super exciting. We've got a special treat for all the BTS fans out there, especially those who follow BTS in there later years
In this reaction video, I'll be watching and discussing a thought-provoking video about the legendary "Silver ARMY," a term that honors the older fanbase of our beloved BTS. As a dedicated ARMY myself, I'm thrilled to explore the emotions and feelings of what its like to be an older BTS fan
As we all know, BTS has achieved monumental success and has a massive global fanbase. But it's essential to recognize and appreciate those who have been there from the very beginning, cheering them on through thick and thin. The Silver ARMY represents a diverse group of fans who have a deeper connection with the boys in there more mature years. Their passion and love for the boys have only grown stronger with time.

Loved this video! I’m one of the Titas of the Philippines (41🤘🏼) 🇵🇭💜 Aside from Tita meaning Auntie, in our culture Tita is also used as an honorific or a title of respect for women (Tito for men) who is much older than you but are not necessarily related; like friends of your parents or your friend’s parents. I’m relatively a new ARMY and I’m glad that there are communities IRL and online that have active older ARMYs. Borahae from Manila! 💜

Hello! 63 yr old Army here!! They found me in 2018 and I have had so much healing from them. I face criticism everyday for being a fan of these 7 beautiful and intelligent human beings. People will criticize them and yet have not listened to one single song. They think I am too old to love a Korean “boy band” I will defend them and myself till my last breath.
Thank you for your love of BTS.

45 yr old Army! My mom (68 yr old Army) and I actually had a great experience with younger Army. We went to see Suga's D-day live in Japan at our local movie theater. My mother is in a wheelchair, so we were sitting near the front to ourselves. The next thing we knew, 2 young girls asked us if we wanted a little pouch with candy and BTS photo cards. It was so sweet! Then we had many more younger Army approach us with handmade keychains, photocards, stickers, etc, that they thoughtfully brought to all attendees. The fact that they made sure we felt included made the concert experience even better.

Hi. The "rejection" of the Silver Army does not always happen. I am a 32 years ARMY, and I can say that the vast majority of the hundreds and hundreds of comments I read on BTS's "Silver ARMY" videos are welcomed and supported by young ARMYs. They rejoice and motivate them, the opposite cases I think are the exceptions.
In fact, some 70-year-old ARMYs who went to a concert were applauded by the young ARMYs. One of my aunts is 65 years old and has been an ARMY for 3 years. Very proud and is not afraid to say it. She has bought several CDs and keychains . Their songs and way of being have helped her a lot to love life more.

I am 42, also studied psychology, and I am a social worker/case worker who works with homeless adults and families with mental health issues; I found that BTS is a great group to introduce to my clients and bond over. BTS has helped me get closer to my clients and build a trusting relationship as I work with them, and we together listen and break down their songs and positively apply them to our daily life. 🥰💜

I'm 18. I went to Suga's D-DAY documentary in the cinema about a month ago and it was so heartwarming to see not only people my age or younger, but especially silver ARMYs. It just warms my heart so much, how one music group can bring together so many different people. As ARMYs, no matter what age, abillities, looks and race we should give each other the same respect, friendliness and be each other's comfort space just like BTS taught us. After all we all have a story about how these guys helped us in many different ways (from simply bringing happiness to our lives to literally saving lives) and I love reading every single story of ARMYs♡

That was V dancing in a jazz club in Las Vegas during the weeks they were performing PTD concerts.
I found Uncle Harley through his nephew Max (a communication coach). Harley is a recent member of my Silver ARMY Facebook group.
I found BTS right before the Pandemic hit. I found the Silver ARMY group when the founder of the group responded to my comment on a TH-cam video, and it started a whole conversation. Through her, I attended (on-line due to the pandemic) an annual BTS Global Interdiscipline Conference where I meet other Silver ARMY and made connections that helped me through the darkest months of 2020. (I live alone, high-risk, my two children were essential workers so did not visit in person.). I have met up with some of these ARMYs IRL.

Silver Army here 65 year young. Found BTS during start of Covid. I have no idea how “Life Goes On” popped up on my TH-cam but it was such a huge blessing! I had just been diagnosed w Stage 4 terminal cancer. Initially I had rejected treatment bc there is no cure for the rare genetic cancer I have and it might buy me time. After watching the video of life goes on I decided with my family to go for it. I can’t explain the feeling of hope BTS gave me. We’ll that was January 2, 2022 and I’m coming up to my 4 year anniversary. Granted, most make it 2-5 yrs with a max of 11 years but I’m going for 11+. I’m stable right now and every day is a gift. Thank you BTS for giving me a Reason To Believe! I wouldn’t have made it this far without them and the kind people I’ve met through them.

Hi, I'm a 54 year old ARMY from New Zealand 🇳🇿. And I've found a supportive community, around the world, of fellow ARMY - both older, my age, and younger. And their support was envaluble last year, when my health was really giving me a hard time. And I really don't know how to thank them for their love and support (I have thanked them, but it never feels like enough). 💜
As others have said, Tae is an old soul. Finding him grooving at a jazz club, with more mature patrons, seems perfectly natural to me. Tae... often seems like he was born in the wrong era - and I can definitely relate to that. It's one of the reasons he's part of my Bias Line (Yoongi is in the center 😻, with Tae to his right 🥰, and Jimin to his left😍).💜💜💜
Also, if you enjoyed Dr Harley's video, you should check out his nephew Max Beaumont's channel. He is a communication coach, and has some really interesting BTS videos.💜

I’m a Silver Army as well. I really enjoyed this reaction and thank you for introducing Dr Harley to me. His points were spot on. When I first discovered BTS and started watching YT videos, I saw early on that there were ‘older’ fans out there, from Comments, stating their ages and proud of being an ARMY. I realized right away that I wasn’t alone and that it is okay to be fangirling at my age. Why not? BTS brings us happiness. I already follow his nephew, Max Beaumont, and had no idea that Max’s uncle started a YT channel. MasterGo, I love how you find this so interesting too.

I’m 73 and have been following BTS since 2019, just at the onset of COVID. During those times in seclusion during the pandemic and recovering from heart surgery, BTS’ music and TH-cam videos entertained and inspired me… most of all, their journey and goodness kept me hopeful. I attended their Permission to Dance concerts in LA and Las Vegas, and look forward to their concert in 2025. My 98 yr old mother watched BTS videos every day and called them, “my boys”. My life would not be the same level of happiness nor as full without them. Bless each of them and keep them safe as they fulfill their military service. There has indeed been a problem with younger ARMYs bullying older ARMYs, especially on "the former bird app", but I've noticed a shift over my three ARMY years where now it's become significantly less frequent and when it happens younger ARMYs are very quick to correct the behaviour of the bully because that's not what BTS or ARMY are about.
This is only something like the second TH-cam video Uncle Harley has ever made so I think he did quite well. I think he was intrigued by BTS and ARMY from the moment his family introduced him to us. And yes, it is a very unusual parasocial relationship so as mental health professionals I think he and his nephew Max find it all extra fascinating.

My experience of younger ARMY has always been really positive, conversations in take-away stores, clothing stores, at the movies and while generally out-and-about have always been based on a shared respect for BTS and each other. I truly believe that a love of good music and shared beliefs can transcend boundaries such as age and geography.

Yeah, I really like Dr. Harvey too. His nephew is also on youtube and is a communication expert and is all the time reviewing and analyzing the relationships of the member via their communication styles and what they say etc and he had "Uncle Harley" on as a guest on his channel and people really enjoyed it so after multiple "guest appearances" Uncle Harley set up a page of his own to address psychological aspects of the group and fandom. He's a cute lil' dude...I like him too. BTW, I'm a 52 year old ARMY 😉. I was introduced to the group initially (about 4-5 years ago) by my daughter (now 15). At the time I was hearing BTS BTS BTS from her and had to check them out to make sure my young daughter wasn't watching anything that she shouldn't be lol and much to my delight they were the most amazing, positive role models I could have asked for. She and I were able to bond over BTS and their content and music and even were able to attend their recent concert (in LA after the pandemic and concerts FINALLY were able to resume). As her musical tastes change she has migrated to other groups (NCT, New Jeans, Stray Kids and many more...all of which I also adore) so she's not as invested in BTS as she once was but I remain and will always remain an ARMY to the core. I feel like I've watched these boys grow up before my eyes and I feel a genuine affection for each of them, like they're my kids or something...crazy I know (but they're not much different aged than my son who's 23, so maybe understandable.). Anyway, I don't know at what age an ARMY is considered a silver ARMY but I feel like BTS and my new found "obsession" with k-pop keeps me young at heart , gives me joy, and keeps me relevant to my kids and that's enough for me. Thanks for watching this, it was nice seeing others like myself considered "not the usual demographic" and how it has also impacted their lives.

I'm a 54 yr old Army, I have been for almost 8yrs. I found them at a time in my life dealing with a lot of medical issues physical and mental. I am disabled and suffer being bi polar. BTS changed me, brought so much joy to my life, when I had very little at the time. My now 21 yr old son just didn't get it After so many yrs he does and loves how they have changed me. He isn't into them though he likes Suga and RM's Joke ( how could you not).
He had seen the change in me and he appreciates it.
I have a lot of physical issues as well, but I take my happy ass all the way to Chicago for concerts every year they had a concert since the Wings tour, I go all by myself with my walker 😂. I make a whole weekend out of it. Nothing could keep me away. The love and respect I have for them is endless. I listen and watch them everyday for 8yrs now. I will be doing it I'm sure till the day I die. I can't wait till they tour again. I pray I will be able to get tickets, (man it's stressful ticket days) it has always worked out so far.
My whole family though it was just a temporary thing, and find it fascinating and see how it has changed my soul for the better. I don't care what anyone thinks they can F off if they think it's stupid. They are love light happiness and just amazing people. I feel bad for people who don't get it. They are missing out on life changing experiences with them.

Thank you for sharing this! I’m 55 years young and been an enthusiastic Army for 6 years. I found BTS through my teenage daughter and just as mentioned it’s been most valuable to share together. We went from Sweden to attend their concert in Amsterdam 2018 and I wasn’t ashamed a bit! Standing in line for hours with all happy Armys and then jumping and dancing for several hours. (They played MVs for a couple of hours before getting on stage.) Singing along in "homemade korean"... 😄The best concert I ever been to! First class entertainers. 🤩
Sometimes I think that people who are surprised about the span in age groups don‘t know that many songs... the discography contains 200-300 songs! A real treasure to explore and a wide range of type of music. And if you were young during the 80’s you "grew up" on pop, hip-pop, R&B and so on. Why wouldn’t we like BTS. Adding on their message and fantastic personalities, you can’t resist them! (Not being native speaking English, you’re also quite used to listening to different languages.) 🥰

Hi MasterGo! I have been really enjoying your journey down this BTS rabbit hole. I am a 54 yr old ARMY from just outside of St. Louis MO and as a 'Silver Army' I can say that BTS has really made me happy in the almost 3 yrs I have been apart of this wonderful fandom. Before BTS I was a life long rock music fan and I was just getting so sick of hearing the same songs I had been listening to for all of my life. Western music just wasn't cutting it either. I stumbled upon some Japanese rap songs and then before I knew it, TH-cam was giving me BTS suggestions. I finally gave them a chance and the rest is history! No other artists in the world today, Kpop or any others, bring me the joy that BTS does. Looking forward to more of your reactions! Have a great week. 💜

Excellent video, MG. As a member of the Silver ARMY demographic, I have heard so much, either from Muggles (non ARMYs), who just don't/won't understand, or from younger (usually under 25) ARMYs, who seem to suffer from the delusional belief that their approval is necessary to my continued support of the Tannies. Obviously, it's not. I won't bore you with details of that conversation.
Anyway, just wanted to tell you that this is another absolutely incredible video. I'm having a lot of feelings, rn (beginning to have a Pavlovian response to weverse notifs, where I flinch and die a little inside, every time), but I want to congratulate you on being so consistently enjoyable. I'm 41. My mom always thought it was a faze (I've been a general k pop fan for over 10 years). She attributes it to immaturity and thinks I'm mentally ill. But she was always the type of mother to put shame on me as a child and responsibility that should have not been mine. It reflects her own immaturity so I just ignore her largely. She never dealt with her shitty trauma of her upbringing and so she is the parent that thinks because something was hard for her, it should be at least that hard for me if not more so. As a person with visual impairment she is also ablest. Nothing is ever her fault or responsibility. BTS has helped me work through this hurt and trauma though. I would not have the perspective I have if not for their music and influence.

I am 49 and being honest I didn't really feel judge by younger ARMYs, quite the opposite, in fact in both concerts I have been to, I felt protected, accepted and appreciated.
My biggest dissapointment were my non ARMY friends and people around me, even straight forward telling me we are a cult, or asking me if I can't listen something else than BTS (although I used to listen so many other artist with that person) or if even my ringtone has to be a BTS song. It is crazy the things I had to hear.
So I used to hide my passion from people. But you know what, when I am alone, those people can't even give me a bit of them time, they are busy with them life, when I face hardships, those people just say "sorry" but are not there for me. In the long days of winter in London I seat on my sofa, I look around and there is just silence and emptiness.
Well, not anymore, now I celebrate my happiness with BTS, I cry my sad days with BTS, and I endure my hardships next to BTS. They taught me that when you think you can't handle anymore, you just have to keep going or sleep it over, that tomorrow is a brand new day. And it may not be tomorrow and you may have to wait couple of days, but eventually everything will be restore to a bearable degree.
BTS taught me that you need to follow your dreams, no matter if the result will be reach. So the 43 year old me fought by them side to pursue my dream of being a mother, I endured surgery, I healthy lost 17 kilos just to have 1 chance, my 87kilos self spinned my bike 7 days a week during 2 hour and 4 hours of other exercises on weekends. When I couldn't ride that bike 1 more minute, I switched them music for a video of them physical exhaustion hardships and I kept going. I didn't get to be a mum, but for a year I was the most happy person in the world. It was physical and mentally exhausting but it didn't matter because that was my dream and I didn't even know that at my age I was allowed to dream that big anymore.
Now I don't hide anymore, my whole room is wrapped with BTS posters, albums, merch ... you name it, and I show it proud. Because I understood that this is what being an ARMY is about: know yourself, accept who you are, love yourself, speak yourself. Borahae ARMY thank you for so much. "I wish I had a better word that I love you" - Kim NamJoon - 💜

Ahhh bless her. I bet the girls were so suprised, and maybe shy as she wasn't someone they knew. As someone who's degree is in Psychology I don't completely agree with him that that's always how people see things. I know many younger people are taught not to talk to people they don't know. So suddenly an older person trying to engage you in conversation might not sit right with a younger person. It would very much depend on their age and how 'Safe' they felt. Safe Zone's are important. I wouldn't want someone I didn't know come up to my 13year old niece and try to engage her in conversation if she were alone or even with her girl friends. It's an 'ifffy' situation.

I’m only 26 (jungkook and I are both 97 babies lol) but I faced a lot of inner turmoil about growing older and not being welcome in fandoms because I’m not a young one anymore. There’s this societal concept that you have to let go of your fandom hobbies once you reach a certain age because it’s “immature” and it was something that really scared me. Seeing not only the elder ARMY be so open about their love for BTS while also being kindly still accepted by the rest of the fan base really really help me mentally.

Those are cool too. I really like these two guys. 💜🫶🏻 I don’t want to call myself “silver” ARMY just yet, I’m 59 but my hair is blonde and not going grey in the slightest haha. Do you have to be middle aged or an actual senior to be silver ARMY? 🤔 I am now known for being ARMY by my family and my friends. I haven’t gotten anyone wide to go down the rabbit hole with me YET but I’m working on it. It just pains me that they don’t get it because it WOULD MAKE THEIR LIFE BETTER!! I’ve taken a few friends and my boyfriend to the movies at the theater or the steaming concerts and they enjoyed them but nothing much more than that 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ll keep trying because the last 4.5 yrs with BTS have been a lifesaver, I love them so much just for the people they are!

There are hundreds of K-pop bands- why is BTS the only one that seems to speak to older people who do have life experience? Personally I think it is because they sing about uncommon topics- things that people of all ages relate to- they get very deep and that is appealing.

In it he talks about the difficulties he went through during the pandemic. Their title track "Like Crazy" was the first song by a Korean solo artist to debut at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Face contains 4 songs + 1 interlude and an English version of Like Crazy, it also has a hidden track that is on the CD called "letter". In this comment I leave a link to a very good video that can explain even more about the meaning of FACE. Thank you 💜
