I’m 68 and have been so enriched by finding BTS. They have helped me so much in the trials I’ve experienced, especially being bullied at work. “You can’t stop me loving myself” and “You can’t hold me down cause you know I’m a fighter” have been my rallying cries when I felt at the verge of completely crumbling at times. The love between BTS and Army has nourished me. I used my walker to get to PTD Las Vegas and I’ll never forget all the armies who helped me down the stairs and continued to shower me with love at the concert. I would crawl if I had to to get there! It was so worth it. BTS and army have provided a sense of family and belonging for me in a time where many of my family and friends are gone. Apo bangpo!

a few hours ago Jimin released an mv of his "hidden" track "letter" on Bangtantv. it is basically a love letter to army. he said thank you to all of us who were there with him during his sad times and that he wants to give back all the support. i think that is very heartfelt and true, they are healing us but a little bit we are healing them, too. thank you, Dr. Harley, it is a joy to listen to you!

Hi Silver ARMY💜. I join the ARMY Family in 2017 at 41.....and was surprised that the Fandom covered all the ages, from almost 1 year old to 99. Their story of how they started as the under dogs from a small company to the famous group the world knows, but seeing how tough it was in the beginning, can be related by everyone in the older generations. Plus they show that it doesn't matter how old you are; if you respect us and our music, we will return it by 1000%.💜

I have not heard the term “silver ARMY” before, but I’ll gladly take my place there! I did not follow BTS early on, mainly because I thought that I had outgrown my boy band phase. But, along with many of my friends, we’ve found that in our mid-40s we all stopped caring about what we were supposed to like and do, and it was a fresh start for all of us. This is a group of genuine, caring, talented, hard-working men, and I’m happy every time I see new people like you start to discover them.

Thank you for the shoutout to us Silver ARMY. It's really difficult to explain what draws us to BTS to those who don't know them. Many in the west have only heard their english songs, Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance and think of them as a very superficial bubblegum pop group. Their messages seem simple, but they are oh so powerful, especially when they are reinforced over and over. One of my favourite BTS concepts is from the the song Zero O'Clock (00:00). It tells us that no matter what has gone on during our day or how much we are beating ourselves up over past mistakes, we all get a reset button every night at midnight for a chance for a better tomorrow. Very comforting. I can't even keep track of all the ARMY I have spoken to (of all ages) that profess that BTS pulled them back from the brink of ending it all. BTS understand their responsibilities that come with their great success. Thank you for reacting.

68yo Silver Army here. I've lived through some brilliant music....the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Prince...and now BTS. Current music has always been the soundtrack of my life, but not all of the music was a positive influence...I'd go so far as to say most of popular music has not been a positive influence on my psyche. BTS is the exception to the rule. Their music and their personas touch me on a soul level in a beautiful way. It's so hard to verbalize...so special.

It is by far their funniest episode ever and I think this is like their 160th episode....or somewhere there abouts. Jimin's physical comedy in this episode is just brilliant and hilarious.

I am a silver ARMY (66) and can honestly say that there was a time I was afraid I wouldn't survive a family crisis but did, with the help of BTS and ARMYs, who stayed with me every day online. It was not a fast healing process, but a daily struggle. I knew my BTS family would be there for me every evening with encouraging words and it kept me going. Hi Dr.
These 7 gems are very special. I'm 62 and my teen years and early adulthood were big emotionally tangled cords. How I survived? I don't know. But then I went on to the real-life circumstances and gradually developed bipolar depression, anxiety, and panic attacks and for a period was suicidal. I always accepted professional help. Today I'm down from 11 meds daily to 4.
Man, how 2 sisters' envy can destroy one's life.
I could have benefited from these young men and yet at this age, they have contributed to my putting that confusing past into perspective, putting it away somewhere, and looking forward to a happy rest of my life.
These young men are a gem.
V's depression we all got to witness it. It started in 2018 when a good friend of his also an Idol for a group named SHINEE committed suicide. Not long after his grandmother who raised him passed away while he was on tour. I think it's possible that with all the stress of touring it all crashed for him but what strength he kept going even though we could all see his demeanor on stage and in interviews that he did not want to be there. The 6 brothers were huge support they always are for each other. Miraculously by Festa 2020, he seemed to gradually come out of it.
Dr. I hope you don't think I'm rude for the following but Jungkook usually and very kindly corrects the pronunciation of his name. I know for us Westerners the letter "K" is pronounced hard but in his name both "Ks" are silent as in
Jungoo. That always makes me think of Mr. Magoo, the cartoon character of my childhood.

normally in kpop the idols are not heard, they are expected to always be happy and sing the song they are told to sing. they should also lie if they are feeling poorly so many of them commit suicided it´s really sad.
however BTS did the complete oppeset. they sing and talk about depression and loneliness. so this is very theopoetical for them. writing a song about your feeling instead of keeping it inside. i think many artists feel that way so it must be hard for those who are not given the free space to write about what they want.
but strangely enough when BTS showed us their struggles it helped army too. seeing how your favorite singer deal with something similar and se then succeed is powerful.
one thing is to listen to your doctor telling you what to do to get better, or our parents. but when your idol is singing it it makes you listen for real.
i have been thought a lot but they helped me put words to what i am feeling and how to get better. mainly Jimin because i see myself in him. but he is stronger than me and even if he is not perfect i find myself wanting to be strong like him. his selfness nature and sweet caring soul is just so amazing.

Also, one of the things that I love about BTS is the way they incorporate their self-reflections into their work and in turn make us self reflect ourselves. If you will be curious to check out their music, I think that there are some pieces there that you will find very interesting as a psychologist because they incorporate a lot of concepts related to psychology. In fact, their “map of the soul” album series incorporate elements of Jung's Map of the Soul, and I think their songs: “intro: persona”, "interlude: shadow” and “outro: ego” are some of my favourite BTS songs to date. Their lyrics analyzing the multiple facets of the self are fascinating

Even i always get a lesson by RM, what inspired me the most is where RM saying a tree philosophy just casually in a vlive broadcast just him sharing his daily chitchat with fans
that clips in youtube video called “BTS live Kim NamJoon RM smile“ pls jump to 25:55 and start
once i learn that philosophy from him, i ve become more positive and getting stronger and fearless when i face my hard times, i really hope uncle harley can watch that too🙌🏻

11:16 To give some context, Dr. Harley, this was a vlive (live video chat with fans) that Jungkook did about 10 days after he badly injured his foot, needed stitches and was not allowed to dance and had to perform from a chair. This happened on their first European tour and his parents had flown out to see him. JK is a performer to the core of his soul and this *devastated* him.
I really admire him because in this video this is a 21 year old man, heartbroken and hurting that is working his way through that devastation on camera, with his fans. He's reminding himself of likely the good, supportive advice he's been given about his injury and how to cope with it AND sharing that advice with the fans he loves as well. He's doing the work with an audience. Amazing.
Thank you for continuing to react to the boys on your own. I appreciate your viewpoints and it's lovely to hear someone trained & experienced as a psychologist reflect my own quiet thoughts about these lovely men. And don't worry, you'll get the names down eventually!

There is a saying among the Army: "You find BTS when you need them the most".
Their music and meaningful lyrics will help to brighten your life. Do not despair. If you give yourself enough time the bad times will pass. Life does not come with a manual on how to live, love or be happy. Once you learn to love and respect yourself. You need to reject negativity and negative people around you. Do not let other people define your life. Love from Kentucky USA (silver Army age 72). ;)

Thank you Uncle Harley for your thoughtful analysis and your heartfelt appreciation of how special these guys are. BTS literally gave me reason to live after I near died of septic shock in 2020. I was so sick and isolated with the shutdown, and the sudden unwanted retirement from work - an RN for 45 years - feeling hopeless and worthless. I learned to love the new non-nurse not-healthy lonely me. And - just like "Save Me" is followed by "I'm Fine" - I'm fine now. Thank you BTS. OT7 Forever! (P.S. That was Jin - not Suga - at 9:00 in. 🇦🇺🌏fan. Hi,
Dr. Harly. I will tell you firstly that i have always been Asian orientated. From a Teen to 34yrs, Judo,Karate. Have Asain dacor for my homes. A Live- in Chinese teen stayed with us . Her market gardener dad asked my mum to take his daughter in. I loved the incense, red & glod decor. I am a German dna, 66yrs female. Came across BTS 2 yrs ago. I hit a video that took me to Utube, the 2nd video was BTS. I was fighting blood cancer & leukaemia. BTS put a smile in my hart. I had lost my mum to cancer in mid 2019. 3 months later i was diagnosed with blood cancer. A hit in the guts so to speek. Had to move 500klms north to a city where all specialist's were. So, as you can imagine, greiveing, newly sick, new to city. No friends, no sons. Had to be isolated because of no immune systems. Covid didnt even worry me, wasnt on my radar😊. Anyways, BTS ,Butter song was featured. Well, i just ❤loved it. After this Utube was my💜 BTS friend as i continue to find alot of content. I went from ROCK & ROLL & became a BTS Nanna. I fell like 45yrs anyways so BTS are my "sons". I am so proud of their ethical way of life, music & the way they treat us fans.impressed with fandom behaviours. I was shocked to find BTS fandom,Armies never leave any rubbish behind at concerts or fan based activities. Also, they fund raise for charity in their BTS boys names. Shocked because western general public are so selfishly unthoughtfull & just leave rubbish every where. ANYWAYS... I listen mostly to BTS now. Western music 🎶 has been mostly put onto the shelf. Thank you for your hard work & channel.
    💖💜BTS 7. enjoy your channel🇦🇺🌏fan.

Love looking at BTS with you.....this silver ARMY (I'm 64) really appreciates this channel!💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 (You know, it's kind of funny that friends of mine who are the same age assume that I have "crushes" on the BTS members and they find that silly. But that thought is almost sacrilege to me! My feelings for BTS are on a much higher level, one that is hard to explain, and which has nothing to do with their looks. Of course they are gorgeous, but they are my sons' ages, and I could not care less about them in that way. I just adore them! For their music and for themselves. How I discovered them was so serendipitous too. One of their songs (Nevermind) stopped me in the middle of an "attempt". I still can't make sense of it, can't explain it to myself, but it happened. Thank you for doing this video, doctor Harley. I really feel you already have become Army, I became Army exactly 1 year ago and it has made me a happier person, I am dancing every single day, I am singing on my bike to work, 1 hour and then 1 hour back. I feel their work gives me energy. I am so grateful I discovered their music, living in the Netherlands I don’t hear their music on national radio except of “My Univers” which is ridiculous why they don’t get played. Being a silver Army, I am 61, it’s obvious that it’s not standard to become a fan of a boyband. So there is something special about them, besides the fantastic music and dancing and good looks. @@harleyburke1461 Thanks for asking! I personally would love to hear your thoughts on a whole bunch of BTS songs - the themes and lyrics are incredible. Suggestion #1: Any of the songs from the two Map of the Soul albums, based on Jung’s theories. The first album is Map of the Soul: Persona and the second is Map of the Soul: 7 (which covers ego and shadow). Both albums are concept albums meaning the songs interconnect to tell a story. RM’s song Intro: Persona and J-Hope’s song Outro: Ego are clearly meaningful to those two artists. Suggestion #2: SUGA’s solo songs The Last (where he talks about his mental health issues) and Amygdala, from his latest solo album. The music video for Amygdala is the most gut-wrenching video I have ever seen. If you choose to do that one, I recommend also taking a look at the explanation SUGA gave to RM in the interview show Suchwita. I’d be interested on your views on whether emotional scars are ultimately self-inflicted.
I could go on but I will stop here. There are any number of translations of the Korean lyrics to English; the best are on doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com
      Good luck!

12:19 “move from that negative space to a more positive space”. So true! In a management training class, talking about mistakes and feedback, we were given a golf analogy ( which I remember even though I don’t play golf): You’ve hit the ball into a sand trap. What matters right now is to focus on how to get out of the sand trap. How you got there is not relevant to how you’re going to get out. Avoid wasting time on what went wrong (if you really need to, you can analyze that later); just accept that this is where you are and focus on the next shot. Another variation on the same theme we have heard throughout this video!

I really appreciate your comments on bts💜. It'd be great to see you react to some of their most meaningful lyrics if you are up to😊. The Love Yourself album series is full of touching songs. Maybe you could look into that!

Great analysis, but, unfortunately, the subtitles for what the boys were saying were much too small and too low on the screen, with the lower lines being cut off.

No doubt none of BTS realised that they would be such a support to their fans and that they would need to continue to provide a place where fans can find them in their hearts as they sing about in, 'Magic Shop'. It must have been hard when they were still in their teens and early twenties to have that responsibility laid on them. They support each other and us even though they themselves have hard hard times emotionally. Jin said in his recent Suchwita interview with SUGA that it was SUGA who suggested that he find a way out of his depression through music and that writing, 'Abyss', helped him so much. In return when things were hard for BTS ARMY have done their best to protect them. Thanks, Uncle Harley. I'm 70 but just think of myself as A.R.M.Y because we come from all ages and all walks of life but are one in our love of these seven amazing young men.
