Thanks for the video. This past weekend I downloaded aethersx2 on an old galaxy s8 and connected a ps4 controller to it. What an awesome experience! I played a crap ton of psp and ps2 games all weekend lol. It's amazing what is available to us!
I have a LG G8 I basically got for $120-ish after taxes. It has some mild burn-in in the middle of the screen and has a ton of tiny shallow scratches on the rear, but the battery was at 92% capacity so it has a "fresh" battery with minimal degredation. Works like a charm for PS2 and NGC. For PS2 I generally play on native resolution, for NGC I leave it on 720p/2x resolution. PSP everything is 4x resolution and near-flawless. 3DS is decent, I like the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII because it has bonus content the PS2 original doesn't have. Other than DQ8 and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate I don't really emulate 3DS that much.
Great Video! 👍 An LG G8 for around 50 Bucks Unfortunately, this is not possible in Germany. The cheapest one I found costs around 100 euros (about $110). pretty stark price difference.
Some of the cheaper controllers had lag and they couldn't hold the phone. I do like to grip my device when into a game. Sometimes, the controls aren't the best and it's not pocketable; it can be too wide in my opinion. I had a S20 and one of the issues wasn't that I couldn't play most of Android but it had no SD support which made it limited to the internal storage. I do think it's a phone is the cheapest way to emulate portably. I had a TCL Signa cost $20 and I was able to play some N64 and that cost $20 on eBay.
Given the emulation handheld scene is only getting cheaper yet more powerful, im excited to try this method out. Its kinda nuts how powerful an average android phone is these days. I'm gonna order a used phone like you recommend, and see if it can run more recent emulators like Vita3K.
OR you could get the V50 which can be had for ahout the same price and comes with the same chipset. But then youve got the added bonus of being able to get the second screen case, which means you can get DS and 3DS going perfectly! No more swapping back and forth or having a tiny bottom screen off to the side! Its literally THE perfect setup for 3/DS
That’s funny haha. I also got the same phone with a cracked screen for emulation! It works and upscale great! I was able to run skyward sword on the absolute lowest settings to get around 30 fps
Is this better at emulating than the retroid pocket 3+ ? Supposedly the g8 CPU and GPU gets higher benchmark results but the retro pocket 3+ has a way higher gpu clock speed.
I just bought a Samsung a23 locked to an mvno plan for $50 used. There are other options, I'm in u.s. here if you get one that's locked and used you can get some really good deals.
i used this controller for about a year its pretty decent id give it a solid 7/10 but id reccomend spending a bot more money and getting a gamesir x2 pro they always go on sale and theyre honesty so much better than this controller
@@gooeybeaphones often have limited storage and battery. I'm not going to run my flagship device' battery to the ground constantly running games on it. I need it to last me all day as my phone. Plus with 128gb or even 256gb of storage, that memory can be chewed up quickly with games leaving no room for apps and photos/videos which I need on my main phone.
@@gooeybea I bought a dedicated gaming phone. It is really annyoing using your primary phone for gaming because of the fact that your battery will drain quite fast. So using a second phone is a good solution.

did the same 3 mons ago
cheap phone + bsp-d3
some ps2 games
its fun
It’s 8£
I agree, with the great variety of smartphone on the market, there is no need of handelds except for steam games.
This controller is actually really good. I'm using this for a year and still performing great without any issues.
Oh that's great to hear! I was a bit worried about the longevity of some aspects of it, but I'm glad that it's working for you!
Great Video! 👍

@@timsretrochannel1490 I'm from Germany as well and I found (and bought) an LG G8X for 70 € and a G8S for 57 €!

Yeah since they're not pocketable anyway I just clip it to my PS4 controller

I have a samsung galaxy s22 ultra and it wont run gamecube games
You must not know what you're doing because the s22 can definitely run gamecube
No D-pad sucks (and that crack in the screen annoyed me all video long) but I didn't know android emulation had come this far. Pretty impressive.
am trying to get sly Cooper 2 to run on this on aethersx2 on LG G8ThinQ. What settings are you using? mine isn't running well.

i want to set up something similar and be able to charge the phone aat the same time.
Appreciate the content
ThinQ is supposed to be pronounced as: think. Anyway, looks like a neat little setup.

Wow, thats a very cheap setup for what it is! I have this same controller btw.
listings for LG G8s in my country are roughly $130, unfortunate but might give it a shot in the future

I use my phone all the time . Even switch games are possible
What type phone do you have
Nice. You could hack and modify the controller and insert a d-pad there 😅
List of emulators please?
What is the name of the controller?
BSP-D3
man what is his name pls
Um, what phone did you use?
LG G8 ThinQ. He said it in the video.
wouldn't it make more sense to just use the phone you already own
why buy a new phone when you have one in your pocket
Maybe he has an iPhone. Sometimes jail breaking isn’t the way to go. Also $55 is a small budget for some people. I’d just do it for the video
@@alexpanmusic then simply replace your iphone

Your screen is cracked.

Insightful 😂
