Dpad uptop has no baring on whether its retro or not, it's just a esthetic choice. For some reason everyone tries to hold it like their life depends on it use a more loose grip and you can reach either easily with no pain. So tired of people acting like it's genetic fact that everyone on the planet cant adjust their hand a half inch.

No it shouldn't because it's not a universal fact. At most it's a preference. If you're playing a modern game your right thumb is likely going to be in the same place below the face buttons almost as much as it will be on them. In fact, it's probably more so with shooters and action adventure games that require camera adjustments to keep tabs on enemies or search the environment.

@@kylemagnus6187 It's not writen in a stone tablet anywhere, you're making an aggressive statement of personal preference about something claiming your volume makes it a rule and that's objectively wrong.

@TheRealAlpha2 gen 5 consoles on down games were made specifically with the dpad in mind giving the times. Gen 6 is when the fps controls started to become standard hence stick top makes more sense and not just fps games but most games at that point were made to utilize the analogue stick. This is all factual. Do your research.

@kylemagnus6187 playstation has been using the same controller design since the dual shock was introduced, 8bitdo despite the name has an entire line of modern conrrollers with the sticks below the dpad,Ps3/360 era is also the same point where tons of indie titles became popular that weren't all 3D. The controls have no baring on playability when the stick and dpad position are interchangeable. You like the dpad down that's fine but don't act like an opinion is fact. Research.

Why is the design made for playing PS1 and below? Does the PS2 controller not have the same design as the PS1 controller? Now... my OG RG350... THATS for PS1 and below, loaded up mine with a 512gb card and all the Sega CD, TG-CD games, nearly all the non CD based systems below that and about 300gb of PS1 goodness.

Plus the additional grip made it much more comfortable, even better so than the Odin 2. It's nice for the versatility.

Stick on the bottom on this device is only fine for d-pad centric games. And a lot of them can be played on cheaper devices (50-70$). I agree it's good for people that want to play specific dpad centric games from ps2, gamecube... . But it's definitelly not "fine" for people that want to play joystick centric games, unless they know they're gonna play only for short periods of time, or have young healthy hands(and they don't care about them). But when you know you gonna play only for short periods, why not just stick with pico-8 and be satisfied. Add nes/snes/gba and you are good for years.

I'm assuming there was a technical reason they couldnt put it a little further in. but no matter, I just hold it less tightly then you thumb doesnt have to bend so hard to reach the stick.

@@dominik_9619 it might be that you, yourself, doesn't like sticks on bottom as a rule, and fair enough, but Playstation and many others disagree. Sticks on the bottom are, indeed fine. Where the problem of comfort comes into play is when the sticks on the bottom are too close to the edges of the controller, lined up with the D-pad. Then you have to bend your thumb back towards your palm, it is uncomfortable to play like that and will most likely lead to hand cramps if played like that for 30 mins or more. Some people will put their hands in awkward positions to work around it, definitely not having as good of a grip on the device as a trade off. In the end, it doesn't matter heavily if sticks are bottom or top, it's how the company designs the control ergonomics. 🍻

It's mentioned in the video. This will play everything up to PS2, GameCube and Wii nearly perfect. You can squeeze in some Switch but it won't be as smooth as it would be on a Switch itself.

Does it actually come preloaded with games?

@crannser yes there are two versions, one with a 64gb card and one with a 128gb card, both come loaded with games, obviously the 128gb version has more.
