@@CrossBup motion sickness really is person specific and easily trainable i got a little bit sick the first week or vr and now i can play for hours and hours and hours without eyestrain or motion sickness if you have a VR youd understand but u must not

1. A headstrap should have been included since it is only a $6 accessory.

3. You can find Lenovo's VR headset without the controllers for under $200. It went on sale for $100 last year, it's also a quality headset. The only issue is tracking since it's tracking by two cameras on the headset, but that is only an issue in games that your hands are behind your head.
Dew no, since an included headstrap would increase the age restrictions and due to the lower quality of the screen motion sicknesses, nausea and possible injuries. and since i’ve made a diy headstrap out of an old noon vr headset i have to say, it was a good decision to not include it. played zelda for half an hour. i am lucky and don’t get motion sick, but it is taxing. nice immersion and a somehow old crt nostalgic flair but yeah, nothing children should be confronted with.
and yes, there are some curious exceptions but they still require a strong machine, even the smartphone headsets. to get a hint of vr, the price is a steak but comes with obvious downsides
The fact that it displays the VR mode on the screen the HDMI cord is connected to, means you could use a better VR set up for it without the motion controls for moving the screen

It’s actually amazing on PSVR and looks much sharper, thanks to running in Docked mode. Gamexplain has a video on how to set it up.

I like how nobody watches the video before commenting. I think that breath of the wild would be amazing in 3D if it was on a more powerful system
The switch can look way better than the xbox one and ps4 even on a lower powered system, and you're right, on a more powerful system nintendo games would look GODLY
It'ss not only a matter of power. The main problem is the screen a Proper VR headset will have at least 720p for each eyes whereas the switch only has 720 both and it's not divided by two it's even lower than that so you'll see the huge pixels of a screen that wasn't made for VR.
The only way to fix this would be to have it docked + a proper VR headset. On the computing power nintendo actually overclocks the switch already for some games so while it is unlikely that they release a VR set, it is possible. They could also release a new version of the switch like they did with the 3DS and new 3DS if they really want to make VR games.

It runs in PC too. Cemu emulator.

This is EXACTLY why the VR Goggles doesn't have a head strap. Because leaving it strapped to your eyes too long can cause problems!
I was so hyped for this... stayed up to 2am to download the update, and 20 mins later I felt so disappointed...
The camera needs to pivot + tilt on one point, not pan around Link - that alone makes me feel really sick, the frame drops and 720p screen only make things worse
There isn’t a HUD for the goggles either, I cant see any information :/
I'm not trying to sound rude, but did you really think it was going to be good? I mean the switch can barely handle one full screen of botw, how did you think it was going to handle two tiny screens. Also the hand placement looks super uncomfortable

Man I just want someone to show uncut footage of the game. So I can put my own phone in a vr headset to see what it's like for an extended period of time.
I love this, I started a new save file with it and already got off the great plateau, the only thing that annoys me is that there is no mini map in the bottom
This is exactly what we needed for Breath of the Wild. The graphics are absolutely stunning, and the amazing world will be so much more memorable in VR. I’m sure Nintendo will improve the VR system, by providing a strap and improve graphics.
sadly, you can't improve something that's displaying 1/2 of a 720p screen 2" from your face.

Does game only gives u the option for VR once you have labo vr software installed? My switch (kind of) fits in my old phone headset but I don't see the option in botw settings.

Man. Breath of the wild was just such a great game! I enjoyed it so much, and it was basically my life not long ago. Now that I've done the story, it's kind of gotten boring 😧. I still have a lot to do, but I don't feel like running across Hyrule doing fetch missions. Whenever I play botw I get a bit sad remembering all that I did in the game. I have never been too much of a Zelda fan because the games were too hard, and I never thought I would get a switch, but when I did, I could not put it down! Botw was me, I was botw. Greatest game by Nintendo in my opinion. Your videos were also very helpful, Austin. And I want to say thanks. You helped me enjoy this game that much more, and I look forward to playing Nintendo's next AAA Zelda release. Because I know that Austin will have something to say, and I will be the first one here 😊. Cheers.

You should really get Skyrim and Xenoblade X(if you still have a Wii U). They have MUCH more engaging side quests. Xenoblade X also has a MUCH bigger, and more interesting, world.

You should try to play from the start of a new game to Gannon, ( all Devine beasts and dlc quests as well) in vr mode. Also keep up the amazing vids, you do great stuff for the Nintendo community!
What if Nintendo made drivers for the HTC Vive so the Switch could control that? The dock has the ports to connect it, and although it couldn't use the full resolution, it could still be cool.

Honestly VR could've been so much better for the switch. They shouldn't have paired it with Labo, it just feels cheap. Doesnt even come with a strap. Botw I didnt think would work with vr anyways. Now if they put skyrim vr for switch and you used the joycons separately like the psvr move controllers then it would be cool

Around 3:00 he started talking about the pixelation and I immediately got an ad for the pixel 3 right after lol
You can also use a regular 5 dollar vr headset for the phone. The 3d isn't as good because the lenses are optimized for a phone but it gets the job done until you can go pick up a labo vr set. I'll tweet you a pic of my set up!
Imagine this sometime in the future with yuzu emulator with a higher framrate and resolution with a vr headset like the HTC Vive and the first person mod. THAT would be wild.

I customized my own vr googles to hold the switch so I've got good durable plastic vr goggles to play with. I don't know how well the lenses are set yet but I'm going to play it tomorrow after work.

The pixels are a hardware screen resolution issue, which can't be patched
The game in this state is already eating so much resources from the switch already, they can only update the hardware. Don't expect much support on this labo honestly

Gonna be a really cool function of the emulator though
I guess I was right to wait for a review before buying it myself, I'll wait to see if they improve it at all, basically just need a zoom out so you can see your health better, and up the quality just a bit, that, and a first person mode, when that's all compatible and working, then I'll consider it.
Edit: Okay, maybe I won't mind the third person, but I'd still prefer waiting for better quality and being able to see the hud.
yeah, looks like they added the goggle filter, increased the FOV, and bound the camera to the gyroscope. and literally nothing else. I wish they'd at least changed the UI so that important things aren't stuck in the corner of your eye.

If you have a 3D TV and put it in sbs mode, would this make the game 3D? That would be interesting to try out. I may have to dig out my copy again (yes, I know this feature was added 2 years ago).

You called it. Pixelation and res down. I would like to see a few more games being played with this, like Cap. Toad's Treasure Tracker, because of the 3D world he's in would be interesting to see with VR. Anyway, thanks for taking it for the team. 😂✌

There was a head-strap viewer for Switch on Indiegogo, I got it and it's not for 3D/VR, but it does have a plastic lens that blurs the pixelation very nicely which the Labo VR doesn't do.
@@FluffyBunniesOnFire - yeah, and the NS glasses are too front-heavy to wear comfortably. Maybe that helps the screen look better, since the Switch is farther away from your face, but it also pulls your head down and strains your neck.
My phone is 5.5 inches could I use a labo vr for my phone?

I agree with you and am glad you didnt bash it like I'm sure a bunch of youtubers will just bc its nintendo(I know you dont do that anyways bc your mostly nintendo content). But of course its pixelated just like everyone thought it would be. But it's not unplayable. By any stretch of even the craziest persons imagination. And the 3d is VERY good in my opinion. It did genuinely feels realistic. I'm sure people will downplay it as much as possible but I think it's awesome and a great reason to play the game a few more hundred hours lol.
Will CEMU 4K BOTW be able to run VR?
The modding community can bring all translation of BoTW from switch to Wii U, I think they can bring or make the things happen in Cemu with first person mode.

Thanks for the review. I respect your personal sacrifice of ripping your hair out with duct tape so we don't have to. I expected low-res. Start with normal res, then cut the screen in half, then take away pixels for the black parts around the fringe and magnify it all to fill your field of vision. Also, it's slow because it has to generate two separate 3-D models with cameras a slight distance apart. Basically, one group makes a cool game and another group comes up with a cool VR concept... and the whole system was not designed to make both of these happen to the same game. Breath of the Wild already taxed the hardware, and then they did THIS to it. I guess I'll keep waiting for the next big Zelda game, though they probably won't finish it until you have to buy the next Nintendo console to run it on... Hey, maybe THAT console will do a decent job of VR and they can make it first person?

I think they 3D works really well. I could actually play like this, because at the end of the day its still higher res than a 3ds.
yeah but you don't hold the 3ds to your face, personally I really like the look of most 3ds games when played with the 3d on (majoras mask, mario & luigi dream team bros, etc)
Playing Zelda is actually pretty fun as long as you're not expecting an htc vive experience.... turn the camera sensitivity to very slow or just don't use head tracking... I've played a few hours this way and the 3D is awesome
With a $5 Wal-Mart VR headset and some cardboard and tape I threw together a fairly decent headset for this. It even has a headstrap kek

It's cardboard you have to turn the lights off and the frame rate drops!
The Korok Forest in BOTW always had frame rate issues and isn't related to the Labo VR at all.

If you have a 3d tv you can still play it in 3d on your TV but you have to sit directly in front of your television while the switch is docked. Live your video. Can you make a video on that? Shout me out if you do lol. I brought the VR but been wondering if the 3d would work. Curious as to what you think when you try it.

Every since I learned Switch VR was just a cheap piece of cardboard, I somehow KNEW it would need to be duct-taped to your head...And here we are...
It looks better on your screen capture because you're not seeing the hardware pixels. Whatever is displaying it (PC monitor, I guess) will likely have more hardware pixel density.

Just hold and play make you feel dizzy a little, If it’s strap with my head I maybe unplayable. But with easy to pull off from screen I can play just fine after a short break.

Anyone remember Austin's 100% stream where he gave up on beating the target hit minigame and the last horse armor?
Not sure why you are so constantly surprised that splitting a 720p screen in two results in a very pixelated image. Previous games that ran (on consoles) in 3D mode required that the game run at 1080p so that the game could render the side-by-side effect at roughly 480p. So halving a 720p screen would result in something closer to ye' olde days of 320 screens. Kinda like if you were pumping the Switch through a GBA screen.
Frankly, I consider VR to currently just be a very expensive boondoggle in general. The fact that Nintendo allows you to get the "ooo VR am so three deeeeeee" out of your system without the buyers remorse of $400 investments is a major plus. Pixels be damned.
can't wait to see how it works on a switch emulator on pc with a hack to make it work with a regular vr head set.

I tried it earlier with bigscreen and hdmi passthrough on my xbox. Unfortunately it's not full 360.
