    Just got my T letter!! Been having health issues. Never thought it would happen for me. Very excited. I think the misconception is coming from doctors about putting gel where you want hair growth because my doctor told me that it works for some people. I have no idea myself so I cannot vouch for that.

    I do agree it works. I will not touch needles don't like them. Been on Androgel for about 2.5 yrs and pretty much satisfied. It's great that you also feel that it equals out your T levels, because it does the same for me. Changes started within 1.5 mo of using it. My muscles, strength, and body hair doubled. My voice dropped like 4 octaves lower. My voice was a bit low to begin with so I'm a total baritone/bass. The negatives are acne , increased appetite, stronger BO, and I do get a bit more aggressive. I put myself on a regimen to balance out all the negatives. Don't be discouraged about Androgel, but like everything else what works for one may not work for another. Good luck!

    I was on androgel (25mg) too for 6 months, and I don't see the problem with it either.I didn't notice any changes happening slower than compared to the injectable T (Sustanon). Maybe this was because I already was 6 months on Sustanon, but hmkay. Its not such a hassle to apply, its not really sticky the only thing which might kinda suck is that you really have to be careful with who you touch. I say go Androgel. And go you Chase

    I can't wait to start T. I know it shouldn't make a difference, but I feel less manly when I'm around cis guys who have it naturally, or when I encounter trans guys online who are on T. It's so stressful and frustrating.

    • @leafycatboy2799
      @leafycatboy2799 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      wow i just got a notification from this comment--i forgot i wrote this! i've been on t for 2 years now. i definitely feel more confident, but being around cis guys still makes me feel small. i'm ok with it though. i'm really happy with what i look like. i have a better beard than most cis guys and that's the most important thing haha. but there was definitely a long period of time, like probably up to 1.5 years on t, where i still felt uncomfortable and unsure of myself. transitioning forces you to adapt to a lot of huge changes all at once and it can be really hard and overwhelming. but i'm glad i pushed through all of the awkwardness and anxiety because i'm finally comfortable with myself and the way the world sees me. and if some random youtube commenter can do it, you can too. one way or another, you can get on t. you can get top surgery. you can do all of the things you want to do, even if it all seems impossible right now. we live in particularly hopeless and desperate times right now--i can't even imagine coming out at a time like this. it is unbelievably difficult. but that's what we do. in spite of everything, we survive. we move forward. we take the abuse society flings at us and we continue to exist, even when all we want to do is stop. because we have to. even if life is dragging you forward kicking and screaming, you're still going. and you can go further. sorry, i didn't mean for this random bit of self-reflection to turn into a crappy motivational speech. i'm just trying to think of what i would've wanted somebody to tell me. "it gets better" sounds like bullshit and i never believed it. i just figured i would wait to see what happens, because why not? and it paid off. and it might pay off for you too.

    I'm a transguy from Ireland (5 days on T as of this comment, yeeeeeah!) and our system seems to be pretty different to the US and Canada, most of my transguy friends who are on T (myself included) got prescribed T gel first, taking a half dose for the first month, then a full dose of once a day for two months before moving on to shots, which are available once a month or once every 3 months (It's a capsule thingie where it releases the testosterone slowly so you don't get spikes or have it convert to estrogen). I find it interesting that we do it so differently across the pond, it'd be interesting to compare (though I guess it's all testosterone and it affects everyone differently anyways so eh)

    Here in New York it costs $400 a month for the packets, a few bucks less for the pump. Luckily I get a huge subsidy so I only pay a few bucks.
    I feel much happier, have lots more energy and feel like a 28 yo man should. I definitely recommend trying this out! The only bad thing is I have some acne on my chest, and I use a stronger deodorant cause it makes my BO worse. Love this product!

    I'm going to start my hormone treatment in two days. My endocrinologist suggested I'd start out with the gel and if I wanted to switch to needles, I could still get them after my first 3 months on testosterone. Thanks for this video, and especially the info about it not concentrating on the area you put it on, which was one of my concerns because I couldn't find any information about it until now.

    I started off with the gel and honestly hated it. It was a hassle for me everyday so I switched to shots even though I was terrified of needles but then having to get my shot and blood work, I got over it faster than I thought I would and not to mention I feel like time goes by faster for some reason.

  • @astrog8tr

    In the US, it is a LOT cheaper (since as yet not all insurance covers T) to take the compounded creams (from a compounding pharmacy). The work the same but mostly come in a jar. They cost $25-80 a month, depending on where it get them from and so on. Strokeckers (don't know where this is) is a typical place (mail order) where guys can get the compounded cream if there is no where locally.

    Just giving people a heads-up: I tried Androgel, and the effects it had on me emotionally were sooo scary that I never wanna see a package with the word "Androgel" on it again! It literally made me psychotic... and when I say psychotic, I mean thinking the entire human race is against me, and thinking people are gonna kill me if I leave my apartment, so I stay in my apt huddled in a corner, trembling for hours, repeating the words "They're all gonna kill me" over and over again. Not to mention the crying that would last for almost an hour, trashing my apartment when angry (throwing pots and pans and furniture and busting holes in the walls) and the serious contemplation of suicide. Hormones are not for everyone, and few people seem to know that T can cause psychosis for some folks. Be careful when you start fucking around with your hormones, people! That's all I'm sayin'.

      I'm bipolar (sometimes get psychotic episodes, suicidal ideation and all that jazz) so my doctors denied me HRT.... but I found another doctor who is willing to treat me, and they're recommending gel instead of inyections exactly because of my disorder (to avoid testosterone peaks messing with my mood swings). Funny how different each body is, something suitable for one person can be a curse for another one.

    For some unknown reason the effects one gets from Androgel varies between individuals. Some see a lot of changes while others see only slow changes. The non-subsidized price can be over $200 USD for a single month's supply.
    The skin acts as a reservoir so it provides the slow release so about half the T is gone after about two to three days. Only about 1/10th of the applied T actually ends up in the bloodstream, when applied as directed, so it is a bit wasteful of the contained T in the gelled ethyl alcohol.

    I hear a lot of people talking about how they want to increase the growth of their junk, but what about trying to limit the change? Am I the only one who wants to keep my junk exactly the way it is? I want the deeper voice and the facial hair and the adams apple and all that awesomeness, but have no plans on getting bottom surgery, and honestly the idea of my junk changing terrifies me. Maybe I just don't like the idea of having to regularly see more of it than I normally do. How much growth actually does occur on T? Is there a way to limit (or even stop) this change? I really want to go on T some day but I don't know if I'll ever be able to get past that.

My new doctor just prescribed me gel instead of the cream I've been on but I think she may have prescribed me full dose- whatever you're on- and I'm only interested in low dose amounts. But I'm not sure how to convert it. Does your have a percentage written on it?

    Got an endocrinogolist appointment for this 2 May and got a call today that my blood test results were totally fine!!! Now I just need to decide about gel or injections ... I don't know!!! the biggest con with gel i Think is that you need to have a routine of taking it and i'm not very organized (well I try to get a week routine but on weekends I'm a lazy guy who gets up at 4 in the afternoon... and i guess you need to take it on the same time eevryday? ) . And also the don't touch people without clothes for this long .. what if I get a boyfriend this year (I might, there's a guy I fancy )??

    So yesterday I was finally prescribed testosterone! But based on where I live (Germany), i'm not allowed to take shots because i'm too young. I honestly hate needles but i'd much rather do them instead of gel, i'm still really thankful I can finally start T though, so i'm not complaining. Since i'm only 14 i'm probably going to have a pretty low dose, and my doctor says the results come like 6 weeks slower using gel. This worries me a little because I really want results and because gel isn't as powerful as shots and my dose won't be that high.I also really want to build muscle, and i've worked out many times but not gotten results that the average cis male would get. Does anyone know if I could build muscle at the same rate a cis guy aged 14-15 could if I worked out and ate well? Also i'm stealth, i've actually identified as male and been stealth since I was 8 and we just moved to Germany a little over a year ago, so I really want to pass as male in high school when I start next year. Hopefully the gel will work fast enough or else it'll be hard to appear like the average cis male at school, the last thing I want is someone finding out i'm trans or looking like a 12 year old when i'm actually 15. So does anyone have direct advice on this? Thanks!

  • @KingMiilo

    Do you have to take testosterone forever? Or is it just a thing you take for a couple of years and can eventually stop? I was just wondering.
    Do you need to take it for the rest of your life

    • @MartyrProdigy
      @MartyrProdigy 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once you begin TRT or Hormone Replacement Therapy, you generally are shutting down your natural production...which means you'll be taking it the rest of your life unless you find some way to keep your natural gonadotropins going. If you could afford hCG shots, an aromatase inhibitor and 130$ natural test booster up per month, for the rest of your life. Then you would be in optimal position. Maybe even back to normal or better.
