Such a tragic, weird character. A skinny seven foot tall metal powerhouse with a broken, angry teenage girl inside. Glad to see someone finally made a good quality video about them, they're my favorite Bioshock enemies and you did them justice.
Ah; the Big Sisters -- one of the most terrifying enemies in video game history! They announce their presence with that ear-rending screech, then drop onto you from out of nowhere, and will not stop until you or they are dead. Big Daddy: Won't attack unless you do so first Big Sister: ATTACK ON SIGHT
Well not really. They could've been terrifying but you always know EXACTLY when one is coming. The only intense part really is the beginning because you're so weak but by the end you're so overpowered even two isn't a challenge. For most of the game though, they only come after dealing with every little sister in a level.
If you play it on the hardest setting, they become absolutely terrifying. I thought resident evil set the standard for truly frightening boss fights. The first time you face a big sister, you actually feel frightened for your own, real life. By the time it's dead, your heart is racing, your hands, and possibly everything else, is sweaty, and you're both physically and mentally exhausted, from the pure adrenaline rush and fight-or-flight response it generates. And THAT'S what makes them some of the greatest enemies in any video game, ever.
@@pr3modeling239 Not really. Even Hard is easy too and the lack of a Survivor difficulty worsens this. The first Big Sister fight was only intense the first time because it caught you off guard. Every other time is 100% predictable since they only come out once all the Little Sisters in the level are dealt with. And I was really surprised when she died when the game first came out. She was hyped up to be this pursuing, ongoing threat like Mr X or Nemesis but NOPE. There's just a bunch of them.
I would love for a multiplayer bioshock where one plays as a little sister and the other as a big daddy or big sister. There’s so much they could do with that!!!

That would have been interesting. I thought it was unique when we had to play as the Little Sister. Just a small aesthetic change to Rapture makes a huge difference.

@@TheBioshockHub I was thinking that too!😆 I just finished Bioshock 2 for the first time and immediately thought of Eleanor either coming back to Rapture to take on a new threat or get caught up in another place altogether. Heck, maybe she finds out about the different realities? Possibly a team up with a different Elizabeth?🤔
What I wonder is how specifically did Sofia break Eleanor’s mental conditioning? Since we all know Tenenbaum created the plasmid to free Little Sisters and in Bioshock 2 she’s against Sofia. my guess she happened to find said plasmid around or used her physiology skills.
TheBioshockHub that’s plausible and I find it interesting how Sofia tried to use Fontaine’s WKY method on Eleanor. and Sofia wouldn’t have got it to work since even with Gil Alexander, it was mostly Suchong’s doing and he’s been dead for years.
Originally there was going to be only one Big Sister that you encounter that being Eleanor. But 2K Marin thought that twist would've been too predictable so they scrapped the idea. Also the next lore video should be on Bill McDonagh.
I thought that was going to be the twist immediately after seeing the big sister and I am usually blind to foreshadowing. So I’m glad they didn’t go with that one.

Rapture is twisted place enough and Big Sisters are its most tormented victims. To grow out of simple drug-induced happiness into a deformed, angry and confused thing so broken and lonely that only pain of death can relieve it. All the physical and mental problems of puberty amplified several thousand times. I do not even want to think how they look beneath their armor.
About how the little sisters traverse to rapture from the surface is either a breather mask that eleanor gives to Sofia lamb and swam to raptures depths, or they took a boat to one of those walk in dock structures where the protagonist plane crashed in Bio Shock 1, or she had to swim hence why that crib cage is on her back same as the second option

Part of me wants a very non linear Bioshock game where you go to rapture to look for your actual little sister, if you are too reckless you may end up as a big daddy but you will find your little sister as a big sister, of course an explaination of plasmids and if you do things just right, she might regonize you, then you get a big sister and you are tasked of getting out of rapture, depending on certain actions you might end up back in the surface where you spent help your "little" sister cope without having adam, or you two stick in rapture and metaphorically rule over it Also I like how the other big sisters look in terms of design while Elonor's big sister design is just meh

I'm really interested in what the original plans for BioShock 2 (and the Big Sister specifically) were. Because I remember waiting for the game's release and reading up on every piece of information I could find. On the fateful release date when I grabbed it off the shelf, the game I played felt far different than what was advertised. The Big Sister is one character whose function seemed to have changed drastically going from a Nemesis type villain who constantly hunted the player to just another enemy to kill really. And the Sea of Dreams trailer implied that she was an older little sister who missed Rapture (perhaps this was Eleanor and there was a twist of her being your little sister). So if you have any information of the production of BioShock 2 and any dramatic shifts, I'd love to see a video on it.

As with a lot of story’s this could all have been avoided if she just let delta near her. My guess is he has zero interest in killing outside of protecting her. In some sense they have a common interest. Seeing how delta was capable of handling big sisters would make him the best possible protector for her. If I were her I’d put the effort into find an improved big daddy control plasmid that gets past the block elinor had on you after coming back. After that just use him as the personal defense of her. Given you could argue if that was even possible why do it sense it seemed other then Tenenbaum and Sinclair no one had any interest in taking on her position. But better to make an ally out of delta then have him go through half of rapture just to get you. I’d imagine after that he would be a lot less likely to negotiate.
Since I rarely rescued or harvested the little sisters in most of the game(apart from the times you’re forced to do it) I never fought Mark Meltzer and found his Audio diary.
It would make sense to me that there would be Submarines in some mostlikely small variant or possibly a self propelled Bathysphere they would use in Rapture.
Imagine if their was a CO OP split screen option but I developed a theory here..., What if the first player is still playing subject delta but the second player would be playing a big sister but free of lambs control over her...I do find it interesting because the only time we play with a big sister is Eleanor herself, that would've been so cool but oh well it was the designers choice tho
On the topic of how the big sisters safely transported the captured girls from the surface down to rapture, my guess is that once the girls had been captured by the big sisters, the big sisters swam to the lighthouse and used the bathysphere to come back down
No. The Little Sisters that remained in Rapture became the Big Sisters. The ones he didn't rescue. Then, the Big Sisters would go to the surface, kidnap young girls, bring them back to Rapture and they'd be turned into Little Sisters. It's pretty f'd up.
No. The plasmid that Tenenbaum gave Jack to 'rescue' the little sisters essentially kills the slug, stops the girl from producing ADAM, stops her rapid healing, and lets her retain all physical features of your average child. However, their mental conditioning must still be undone, of course. Or else they would still go at least a little insane.
One would think they would make the little sisters see the big sisters in a better image , whenever a big sister appears they're terrified when they're basically their savior once a big daddy dies, just a bit weird
Honestly loved Bioshock 2 it's my favorite out of the trilogy and the 1st comes in second with Infinite being the worst in my opinion. Infinite just didn't interest me as the other 2 did. Wont say Infinite in is a bad game. But as for Bioshock Infinite just didn't match up with the other 2. And sucks they didn't bring forward the multiplayer for Bioshock 2 with the remaster on PS4 and Xbox 1. Would have been a really great opportunity for them to improve it or just add a bunch of new content which they could have promoted and would have got everyone buy the remaster. I mean it was bad but near the end of the PS3 cycle I was enjoying the multiplayer so I mean it could have thrived on next gen.
@TheBioshockHub you said johny topside was a deep sea diver, in the first game his plane crashed instead of him going diving he found out the city via bathysphere!
I know that this video is old, but here is my idea of how they got they got the kidnapped little girls to Rapture. I think the big sisters tog them to a light house that wasn't very far away and then used them to transport. Because in what is happening under the sea they are targeting very specific locations
As for the abductions of little girls to be turned into Little Sisters .. I'm going to go with a Bathysphere being parked somewhere off shore, somewhere quiet & most likely unseen. Toss her in, shut the door, pull the lever, and in the words of Todd Howard ... "It just works" ..
They were not around yet. Rapture remained after Jack and Tenenbaum left it with group of healed Little Sisters. If untreated puberty does nasty thing with that ADAM-producing slug they carry and result is Big Sister. Little Sisters of BioShock 2 are result of Sofia Lamb ordering her goons to kidnap girls on Atlantic coast and bring them to Rapture to be made into Little Sisters.
His name was Mark Meltzer. He faced all the horrors of Rapture until given a sadistic choice: die or become Big Daddy. Sofia Lamb was good manipulator so his choice was obvious.
They’re just grown Little Sisters. They probably would look like really tall, really skinny girls with glowing yellow eyes. Or perhaps without the yellow eyes, like Eleanor, since she’s technically a Big Sister, too, without the insanity.
I thought the science experimentation caused little sisters unable to age and grow almost suspended as little girls? How did they grow all of a sudden?
In other words: Why does the river of blood only go up to the big daddy's neck?
Because he is standing on big sister's shoulders.

Since I rarely rescued or harvested the little sisters in most of the game(apart from the times you’re forced to do it) I never fought Mark Meltzer and found his Audio diary.
Can you talk about the backstory of neptunes bounty and fontaine fisheries
Or maybe heaphestes
Sure. It might take a bit to get to levels, but I can definitely do that. I have one on Fort Frolic if you're interested!
It would make sense to me that there would be Submarines in some mostlikely small variant or possibly a self propelled Bathysphere they would use in Rapture.
You have an arrow pointing to the area where kidnapped children are stored while transporting them to Rapture from the surface at 5:42 in your video.
Subbed to your channel sir. Thanks for the in-depth lore and getting every detail right.
I just noticed you said “would you kindly”
Imagine if their was a CO OP split screen option but I developed a theory here..., What if the first player is still playing subject delta but the second player would be playing a big sister but free of lambs control over her...I do find it interesting because the only time we play with a big sister is Eleanor herself, that would've been so cool but oh well it was the designers choice tho
I'm glad you made a video about bioshock 2 since I completed the game ( for the 4th time ). Would you kindly make a video about Splicers. 😁👍
Any Splicer in specific, or all of them in one video?
@@TheBioshockHub all of them please 😁👍
On the topic of how the big sisters safely transported the captured girls from the surface down to rapture, my guess is that once the girls had been captured by the big sisters, the big sisters swam to the lighthouse and used the bathysphere to come back down
Wait so is this what happens to the Little Sisters on the surface with Jack in the Good Ending in Bioshock 1?
No. The Little Sisters that remained in Rapture became the Big Sisters. The ones he didn't rescue. Then, the Big Sisters would go to the surface, kidnap young girls, bring them back to Rapture and they'd be turned into Little Sisters. It's pretty f'd up.
@@TheBioshockHub yeah, but, what happens to the ones he brings to the surface? Do they get genetically destabilized too?
Hey Erik I hope big sisters won't get any worse in bioshock 4.
Good ending is so emotional? Always found it overly saccharine if anything.
The bittersweet ending on the other hand, now that’s an emotional ending.
Thanks for the video I found it really good and I subscribed!^^
One would think they would make the little sisters see the big sisters in a better image , whenever a big sister appears they're terrified when they're basically their savior once a big daddy dies, just a bit weird
Shit you not, still too this day the big sisters give me PTSD. Im playing thr remastered trilogy right now ad god dam they are still terrifying
Actually a special suit was provided to the girls so they would survive the depths
Is it possible they used the lighthouse bathysphere to transport the the kidnapped girls from the surface?
Most likely the big sister put the kidnapped girls in a diving tank like at the beginning of Bioshock 1
Had to drop uh sub learned a lot from you bru
Thank you!
When i first played Bioshock 2 and first encountered a big sister they reminded me of Samus Aran. Weird i know but they just kind of do
@TheBioshockHub you said johny topside was a deep sea diver, in the first game his plane crashed instead of him going diving he found out the city via bathysphere!
2 different characters. Jack was born in Rapture, sent topside, and he's the one that crashed the plane. Delta is his own character.
I know that this video is old, but here is my idea of how they got they got the kidnapped little girls to Rapture. I think the big sisters tog them to a light house that wasn't very far away and then used them to transport. Because in what is happening under the sea they are targeting very specific locations
Fuck TH-cam. I didn't get a notification again. Great vid though
Would love a vid about Sofia Lamb herself
I've been wanting to do one on her for a while now.
I'm part of the 20%
Wasnt there an elevator in the first game, where you enter rapture from the surface after a plane crash?
A bathysphere took you to Rapture and there were elevators within the city itself.
Big daddy vs big sister who will win in a fight
On paper, Big Sister.
TheBioshockHub but in action big daddy? And which big daddy?
Subject Sigma or Delta
I wish BioShock2 gave you the opion at the beagain of the game to pick between big daddy or big sister, would have given you a new game plat opinions
Would it be possible if you could make a video about Prentice Mill and the Atlantic Express would you kindly
I can do my best!
For kidnapping little girls to turn them into little sisters… The only thing that makes sense to me is by using Bathyspheres to transport them.
I love your editing amazing video
Thank you Victorr. :)
TheBioshockHub np
They need to make a 3rd Bioshock in Rapture and utilise the Big Sisters more but keep the Big Daddies
Does anyone have Bioshock 2 for xbox 360? I've been wanting to play multiplayer but idk anyone that has it.
Story on song bird maybe
As for the abductions of little girls to be turned into Little Sisters ..
I'm going to go with a Bathysphere being parked somewhere off shore, somewhere quiet & most likely unseen.
Toss her in, shut the door, pull the lever, and in the words of Todd Howard ... "It just works" ..
I'm guessing the Bathespheres were used in order to get the children from the surface down to Rapture.
Two years late on this video. Any chance the big sisters took the little sisters to the pneumo in the lighthouse from BioShock 1?
I believe Bathyspheres were used and possible equipment on the Big Sisters themselves.
7:05 they used the cave from Fontaine’s Story about the Prison in Rapture to take the little sisters to rapture
0:51 Ok I donk know if you ment to say the "Would you kindly" but if did mean it than I wonder how many ppl understood this as i did
Jack was extremely lucky for not having to face one of them
They were not around yet. Rapture remained after Jack and Tenenbaum left it with group of healed Little Sisters. If untreated puberty does nasty thing with that ADAM-producing slug they carry and result is Big Sister. Little Sisters of BioShock 2 are result of Sofia Lamb ordering her goons to kidnap girls on Atlantic coast and bring them to Rapture to be made into Little Sisters.
aw ok i'll subscribe to you, darlin. your voice is cute and i want you to succeed c:
:D
Yes there awesome
I love them.
@@TheBioshockHub I think they should of added them to the protector trails
One of the logs mention that, a man followed a big sister that took hes daughter to the lighthouse, probably they got to rapture that way.
His name was Mark Meltzer. He faced all the horrors of Rapture until given a sadistic choice: die or become Big Daddy. Sofia Lamb was good manipulator so his choice was obvious.
Are they heavily spliced or do they look normal underneath?
They're grown Little Sisters.
They’re just grown Little Sisters. They probably would look like really tall, really skinny girls with glowing yellow eyes. Or perhaps without the yellow eyes, like Eleanor, since she’s technically a Big Sister, too, without the insanity.
Would they not have just used the lighthouse from the first game?
I thought the science experimentation caused little sisters unable to age and grow almost suspended as little girls? How did they grow all of a sudden?
Love the backround music.......minervas den..
Incredible soundtrack.
Watching with 2x speed. But it still feels slow
