    When we decided to take on this project, we knew that there was a risk involved, as we weren't so sure how many people would still care about Bloodborne this far after its release, but seeing the amount of people who are still as passionate about Bloodborne as we are, and the amazing comments and support you've shown, it's why we love making these videos, THANK YOU!

      i agree with pretty much everything in this video but after multiple play through's ive started thinking about something. i believe that bergenworth and willem had been so desperate to transcend humanity that once they heard about the fishing hamlet they decided to investigate and they found a village that worshipped kos as a god of bounty bringing fish and the insight of the gods at the cost of their own humanity. so they sent in the hunters to get whatever information out of the villagers they could. through some turn of events gherman and maria were given audience with kos and one way or another became pregnant with gherman's half human baby, since the great ones cant impregnate one another and always lose their child, need a human surrogate but in the case of kos she is the one female great one we encounter besides amygdala ( rom and abrietas not included since they are not truly great ones ) so maybe a female great one has to have sperm donor of sorts which sounds complicated but its a game about cosmic alien gods living in dreams and nightmares. so what if gherman some how impregnated kos as a desperate act to build a bridge between humans and great ones or if it was kos's idea so she could finally have a child as alot of mothers do considering how much god-human birth there is in this game. gherman and the orphan of kos look alot alike ( hes the only great one that looks human at all ) and they share a similar voice. could it be that maria found out about this and was in love with ghermam and in a fit of rage killed mother kos while pregnant? Once this hypothetically happened, kos cursed the hunters and their kin for killing her and making her lose out on her chance to give birth finally. once the villagers would have found out about the death of their god dont you think they would all become hostile towards any outsiders from then on. lady maria being a caring person would have cast out the weapon that killed a friendly great one and spent her time stuck in the nightmare caring for its sickly inhabitants trying to repent for what she had done. gherman on the other hand being punished by the gods and the church by eternally being the moons slave and helping train hunters to take over for him once he dies perpetuation the hunt/nightmare/dream. idk just a theory

      Metaphorically, this is not about the story of an imaginary digital world, but rather the original world that allowed this digital creation. The world you thought you were in, never truly existed. Only our limited perception continues giving it reality.

    Man, hearing gherman cry out for help with such desperation and knowing help is never coming is honestly soul crushing. That line weighs so much more when you fight him at the end. Isshin sword Saint is their best boss ever but the lore and reason behind fighting Gherman is hands down fromsoftware’s best achievement in story telling.

      Imagine an idealistic young Ghermann who trusted Laurence so much he's willing to sacrifice his normal life to hunt the beasts in secret. Only to be shunned aside and probably treated like pariah when the secret is out and the people praised Ludwig instead. And yet he still believe in Laurence.

      Don't get me wrong I love isshin and maybe it's because Bloodborne was my first fromsoft's game but I personally prefer Gherman, he is a flawed character with good intentions to heart that's why his weapon the burial blade was made to wish "Farewell" to the beast he was hunting. Still maybe my nostalgia who knows.

    • @NoxLegend1

      It could be that the horror from this world was their own manifestation. It was a corruption of their own perception or lack thereof that damned them in twisted horror when meddling with knowledge and beings hundreds and millions of years beyond their advancement.

I like that it still feels realistic in comparison; If the world really was built upon Great Ones enacting a will beyond our understanding, if we were to discover or be granted audience with the understanding of such truths would we not end up the same way? If only he knew. That we weren't lost to the blood. We are no beast. We are just a man. Just like Gherman. Trying desperately to free the other from an unending torment. This is not a battle. It is an act of kindness. A dance of death to the song of clashing blades. To the victor goes the honor of sacrifice. To the vanquished, the sweet release from pain. Gherman fights to protect us from the horrors he's enslaved by. And we fight to grant him rest, because he has suffered enough, knowing full well what lies at the end of that road.

      That's funny, I've interpreted his words the complete opposite. The words, along with how he says them, to me sounds like he's going "Oh, you've found out that the paleblood you've searched for all along is the great old one sustaining this hunter's dream. What was it that gave it away? The hunt being a farce? The blood being nowhere to be found? The fact that this dream also needs a great one to sustain it, just like the other dreams you've been in? Regardless, now that you know the truth, it's up to me to clean up this mess."
      Much less about him regretting your insanity, and much more him admitting the truth behind your insight, and stating his determination to keep you away from facing the Moon Presence.

    The outer God ending is perfect because of the doll. The doll says & i quote
    "......of course I do love you, Isn't that how you made me?"

      Event tho the cycle may repeat, but it is the one that is closer to the human nature we are doomed to repeat history and the cycle of life is a never ending one.

      And as for the tears, I find the Old Hunters DLC quite emotional as well. Ludwig, Maria, Laurence, OoK. Tragic figures, tragic and sickening story.
      Gehrman as well, Gehrman really makes me sad. Your fight with him isn’t something about power, it isn’t anger, you’ve served your purpose and he doesn’t want you to be trapped for eternity like he is. He wants you to move on and live life, so badly that he is willing to give his all to stop you from taking his place. The best ending for everyone though (at the very least you and Gehrman is the transcendence ending, Gehrman is free finally, the Moon Presence is gone, and you have begun to bring Humanity to a higher level of being)

      1) You bought and booted up a game you knew nothing about.
      2) You made the conscious decision to fiddle with the options after immediately gaining control of your character.
      3) You found the option to hide the HUD, knew what that meant, and made the conscious decision to turn it off... all because you magically assumed that was the ‘hardest difficulty.’
      4) You played the game up to Rom without EVER seeing your health, blood bullets, item selection, message prompts, speech prompts, interaction prompts, and any boss’ health... on a *blind* playthrough.
      5) You fought a giant, deformed spider that has its own background music, battle arena, summons minions, meteors, and is *required* to progress the game further.
      ...and you still assumed... that it *wasn’t* a boss?

Not to mention if we would look at it just from a production standpoint, the fact that they overused music in places they shouldnt have and didnt even use any music from the game itself makes it so much worse.
      In conclusion, it is incomplete and as i said just wrong in some places.

      I think one of the main side effects of the Old Blood was potentially longer life? Similar to the One Ring more or less prolonging/stretching ones life. everything in this story that comes from something Greater only brings about ruin when humans pursue it. our mortal frames aren't equipped to see, touch, taste, feel, or be in the presence of higher beings.
      as a Christian, I absolutely LOVE this game because it feels like a bizarro take on Christianity. tons of absolute comparisons and similarities. the consuming of body and blood to gain further access to health and eternal life. the prayer to be given eyes to see. but all for naught. the object of their faiths are brutal and mostly merciless creatures. that's exactly how history plays out in our world, and how the Bible speaks of every civilization that seeks greatness. Greatness and dominion over the world is sought, acquired, and through insatiability ruin and destruction comes, and the cycle repeats. our only Hope, though, is for the actual God of gods to break into the cycle, destroy it from within, and bring us out of the cycle through His own self sacrifice, death, burial, resurrection, and Ascension back to His throne. All under the guise of being murdered by his own creations and enemies.
      anyway. love it love it love it. playing through it again now. have never beaten the DLC. I've always wanted to play with the Churchpick but didn't get far enough into the DLC. anyway, it shall be acquired.

      For example in this vid it just states that Papa Guacamole is already turned into beast and murdered his wife in cold blood, when there is possibility that perhaps witnessing his wife's death at the beasts' hand itself was the straw that broke the camel's back, or how the eldest daughter is killed by the brick troll when it could be just as likely to be suicide.

    Hippocampus - a section of the brain - in Greek translates to Horse Monster (Ludwig?). The Amygdala is another section, and an easier concatenation from brain to lore. We speak of blood throughout the game. There is a literal brain in this game. I wonder if this game is a microcosm (or some say Kosm) of the human body. I have been wondering this for years, but am too inarticulate or smart enough to rule this theory out. I say this here because I just found your video. I enjoyed it very much and wish to hear if you have any thoughts on this. What is the hunter? Why is it all our fault, as an early enemy accuses? Thank you for the great video.

    • @pol1756
      @pol1756 2 ปีที่แล้ว +66

      Well, it's hard to separate Bloodborne from the work of Lovecraft and one of the central theme of Lovecraft was fear of the unknown, fear of the insignificance of human beings in a universe that ultimatly doesn't care about their existence. The amygdala is the part of the brain responsible for fear response, same for the hippocampus. And all around the story of Bloodborne, you see (just like in Lovecraft novels) how humans, in their fear of the unknown, tries to makes sense of what is beyond, to ascend and to obtain the knowledge to makes sense of the fear they have but ultimatly perish because the human mind isn't made for this kind of knowledge.
      So I'd say your theory is right and it is a great metaphor. I didn't saw it that way. Now I want to play Bloodborne again!

    And 2, when I went back to The Unseen Village after to moon rose and found it to be a nightmare

      @@NeverExistedShadow13 there's a man you can meet, kind of out of the way, and he's looking for shelter like everyone else, but he gives off kind of... "off" vibes? But everyone in Yharnam is weird so I sent him to Oeden Chapel.
      As the game progresses, you'll start seeing people disappearing one at a time, and you can find their bodies nearby. Once they're all dead, the man transforms into a massive beast and it's a mini boss fight similar to Dark beast Paarl, except not as strong.
      Also, if you attack him at any point more than once, he transforms and has one of the absolute COOLEST dialogues ever.
      Look up the beast villager on TH-cam. It's fucking awesome.

    I've watched a lot of Bloodborne Lore videos. This is the best. So meticulously put together and with such detail and care, the editing at the end stands as a visual representation of how amazing this essay is. For once, I came away having had much of Bloodborne answered, rather than the typical confusion - I think a lot of that is the way you've stitched the story together through 'chapters'.
    Seriously, just fantastic stuff.

  • @RomanGuro
    @RomanGuro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +32

    Thank you for your work:) Just want to add some connections to the story.
    15:30 It was Laurence who betrayed Byrgenwerth and brings Old Blood of Queen Yarnam to Cainhurst. Annalisa became immortal and gave him support and influence to create the Healing Church. This twist is important enough to be mentioned. They became enemies much later.
    22:00 They burned Old Yharnam after the Red Moon is rising. The Red Moon rose when the Mensis school began a ritual and attempted to invoke the Moon's Presence. As a result, all the students of Mensis and the people of Yahar'gul died and going into a nightmare, and the people of Old Yharnam nearby began to turn into beasts. I think at this point William used Rom to hide the Mensis ritual and prevent the spread of the Red Moon. But you may be right, and the ritual was hidden before in collusion with the Mensis school to hide it from the Church. Especially paying attention to the fact that the School of Mensis was stealing people of the Church for experiments.
    1:02:45 It was the hunters who cut out the fetus of Queen Yharnam. In the labyrinths, before the fight with the queen, we can even summon the hunter "Queen Killer". So they got Mergo and an Umbilical cord as result. During the boss fight, the queen's belly is in place.
    1:02:54 I very much doubt that the Moon Presence is hunting other Great Ones. His goal is clear, to reveal the Mensis ritual and end the suffering of dead Mergo.
    Why does the Moon Presence care about Mergo?
    So.. If you notice that the Moon Presence is called nameless in note (that is, the Moon Presence is not a name), also called Paleblood and no one has seen him, it exists only in a nightmare. It is easy to assume that the Moon Presence is a formless Oedon himself. And that's why he cares about his child. And that's why Arianna gets pregnant after the Red Moon rises.

    • @PedroFinGuitar
      @PedroFinGuitar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If that's Moon Presence's goal then why did it use Djura and Eileen before the hunter? For me it seems like a cicle. I heard somewhere that MP wants blood echoes, cant remember where...

    • @RomanGuro
      @RomanGuro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PedroFinGuitar This is the task for that particular Hunter. This is why Moon Presence cares about Rom and Mergo. But of course, you are right, the main goal of the Moon Presence to resurrect in the real world by absorbing enough blood echoes.
      This is a direct reference to Lovecraft. The Great Ones died long ago in the real world, they live only in the world of dreams (or nightmares), but even so strongly influence people's minds.

    • @Myrcht
      @Myrcht 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PedroFinGuitar I have also always wondered that. Clearly Djura and Eileen has been in the hunters dream ("Tell the doll I said hello"). They clearly fulfilled their contract and got beheded by Gherman. And all the other hunters too, whose gravestones stand in the hunters dream. Maybe its a time loop that repeats itself each full moon? (MP controls the moon cycle). And it always end when the hunter frees mergo. Only that we is the first hunter who consume three umbilical cords and slay MP, thus breakning the cycle/loop.

    • @Myrcht
      @Myrcht 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RomanGuro But it only absorbs the blood echoes if we defeat Gherman? Which no hunter before us have. Or does Gherman absorb our blood echoes when he kills us and then MP absorbs them from him? Like the theory that it's goal is to resurrect in the real world. You gain by far the most echoes from killing the MP compared to any other boss.

    • @PedroFinGuitar
      @PedroFinGuitar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Myrcht you don't get blood echoes from killing gherman so yeah, i think what he absorbs goes to Mp. Also, i don't think it's a cycle that revolves around mergo and yes around the hunt, but on this night of the hunt ocurred the mensis ritual so thats why you have to go after rom, I'm kinda high so i might be wrong
