Honestly, you can tell in their writing they haven’t had someone of a diverse background come in and help out with the discrimination scenes involving Blake. They can write Weiss standing up for Blake easily- because they can draw from their own experience and what they would do. The writers are struggling to connect with Blake because she has a different experience than their own. NOW. does this mean other writers can’t write on these social experiences no. Plenty of great writers have great characters with diverse experiences. But that’s the difference. A great writer can listen to others and recollect their experiences and implement it into their stories. The writers of Rwby are struggling with that. And since they are- they need to be more open minded about people of different walks of life help develop their script for these characters. Or else they can only connect with characters with similar backgrounds of their own. All in all they need to take some writing classes.

Onii-chan is watching you It’s heavily implied that she was referring to Blake but even there Cordovin is right. Blake was a member of the White Fang, a well known terrorist group in Remnant and since her dad was the former leader of the organization you’d think that people would know that she’s affiliated with the organization. And we know for a fact that Blake did commit crimes in the White Fang so Cordovin is actually correct that she has questionable character.
Ryan Carson “questionable characters”. I don’t see what’s wrong with: an ex race terrorist, an heiress who lost her birthright, a woman who is on camera breaking a guys leg, a random huntsman and a woman who reacts to the name “grimm reaper”.
Vince Galila huntsmen in the series are basically just mercenaries specialized on killing monsters. And if I see a run down, literally down on his luck merc escorting a terrorist I wouldn’t trust them. And I don’t trust anyone going by Grimm reaper. Maybe it’s just me, but only two types of people use that name, edgy 14 year olds on the internet and murderers who are way too into killing. Not worth the risk

^ I’m not against Bumbleby, I really find VexedViewers take good. Like, everyone has their own personality and their own moments before a relationship is formed. Everyone has his or her own core foundation. No one should just be defined by a relationship, let alone a ship. That’s disgusting, and frankly, poor writing. Imagine if people just defined you by who you were intimate with, when you still remain an individual, with your own set of beliefs, views, and abilities. It’s almost as if, the LGBT have been asking society to NOT define them by who their intimate partner is because they remain regular functioning human beings. I think time spent developing each individual character with lessons and growth is more vital than showing a character growing into a relationship before individual growth is achieved.
Swear I hated how they always had Weiss to cut in on those moments to make it seem like she's saving Blake from the racism. Makes me really miss the Blake from vol 1-3 when she was actively doing shit and passionate about ending fanus discrimination. I couldn't see the sassy Blake from the early Volumes stay quiet when that Drunk started yapping. Now she's just being used to make the other girls look good. Guess that's how it goes for characters who completed their stories in ongoing series right?
In this show, yes. But in a better show she would just be given a new arc, and another one when that arc is finished. These writers either don't care, or just aren't creative enough to think of something new for Blake.

Since this is the most racist nation they could've had a plot line where Blake got kidnapped and forced to compete in an underground cage fight gladiator style for Fanus (like illegal dog fighting). Show how terrible it got, show the rich assholes (Like Weiss' dad) gambling on the matches. Let her see how down and defeated the Fanus there would be and drive her to the edge of breaking. But she'll find a way to still have hope and eventually she'll find a way to escape (On her own, NOT be rescued by the others until she's already escaped). That could've been a 3 or so episode subplot to juice up the barren and boring political plot line
My bigger question is why did they have to make the racist in Atlas a drunk, what they couldn't write a sober clear minded man who can speak his mind with full confidience. I mean for crying out loud we've had Qrow the entire time being drunk all the time yet he is more sober that 'drunk guy' not to mention we don't know if this guy might actually be a vocal racist only when drunk. There have been plenty shows where they can convey it subtlety and it makes it all the better to see them getting served.
@@BlackNChaos Marrow was a super missed possible plotline. In a rewrite I did for the Ace-ops v RWBY fight I suggested that Marrow and Ironwood's relationship gets defined. In this rewrite Marrow's semblance brings heavy pain to whomever falls victim to it, and Marrow understandably dislikes using it but feels pressured to by ironwood and the other Ace-ops. In this rewrite, Marrow is the most picked on of the Ace-ops the most crude jokes are made at his expense and his input is valued less than the others. When it comes to his relationship with Ironwood, he dislikes him because Ironwood sees Marrow as an attack dog, or a semblance more than an actual person. I feel this could've given merit to Marrow's claim in how despite being of such a high rank he's not appreciated by those around him.

The worst part is that, while Weiss and Blake had little to no interaction, now it's all reduced to white guilt. Also, I find it funny that in the fight with Robyn, they just "wanted to talk", but Blake used the one type of dust that causes her clones to explode, instead of just using ice in order to trap Robyn in place.
Honest question, What was it that made Blake see that 'Oh I can trust Robyn" over "I don't really trust the genreal" considering everything that went on. Also, when Robyn ambushed the truck for supplies....what would the chances be if the materials inside are in no way useful to build a wall....example a powerful radio generator for the CCT? Like am I the only one confused as to how the supplies for the tower would also be compatible for the wall.
If Yang was so concerned about Ironwood needing to know the truth, why didn't she just pull Ironwood aside for a moment and cautiously tell him the whole truth, and Ironwood might not be as distrusting of team rBWY in the end.

The way they ignored Blake's character development is how I feel about how they ignored Jaune's redemption moment vs Cinder. They ruined what could have been a great character development on Jaune getting some type of closure over Pyrrha's death but instead ruined that moment to humiliate him and mock him over the woman he actually loved. I don't think the series EVER properly has given abuse and trauma proper time or situations to heal, leaving this looming empty character hole. Where does Blake learn that it's okay to let go of this guilt over Yang's arm? While I understand why Blake would feel this unintentional guilt, there is never any moment that Yang confronts this 'dotting' behavior nor an opportunity for Blake to 'learn a lesson'.

@@nikonarshe9296 it isn't speculation; when Blake tries to get yang's bags for her and yang tells her she doesn't have to that which blake denies. At the farm Yang tells Blake that she still has nightmares about the night she lost her arm and Blake says that its going to be alright because she isn't leaving this time and that she'll protect yang which starts the "what" moment between the two which was featured in this video. She confronted Blake both times one where she was nice and the other where is being clearly defensive. The problem with this dynamic between the two of them is that wasn't given a proper resolution like you said and it went into another direction altogether.
The dumb thing about that is when Vol 5 was on its way everyone was talking about the Blake short, and when it came around it was entirely dedicated to Illia (which is why I hate that character-we could have had a moment to find out who Blake was when she joined, or even the straw that broke the camels back to cause her to leave, but nope one shitty backstory to a background/side character). And even in Vol 6 Yang treats Blake like everything is fine, even having a nice bit of banter fighting on the train, on the farm it changes and then once in Atlas it changes again. I wished Blake kept the bow, it definitely defined her more than without it.

Can you imagen a story arc for Blake where she feels all good about killing Adam...but realizes in doing so she has became like Adam? She goes through this realization and even remembers what Adam was like before he was encouraged to be the White Fangs weapon and before he went all crazy...she remembers when he was more rightous and noble and didnt have his extreme ways yet. She remembers the good he once had and realizes he was a victim/puppet in the whole system that Salem was operating behind the scenes, she realizes he was used and pushed down a dark path...she realizes he was abused all his life and as a result, an abuse victim became an abuser (towards Blake) Imagen Blake taking up the remains of Adams sword and making it her own, maybe even wearing a similar jacket to Adam from volumes 1-3 and fighting for the freedom and equality the GOOD Adam she knew fought for...the one who joined the White Fang eager and hopeful. NOT the Adam promised Faunus equality by Salem he was probablly never gonna get. NOT the one influenced and pushed down a dark path to become a monster (by that cat milf woman...whatever her name was that was killed off quickly). NOT the one that was surrounded by the wrong people who just encouraged his bad ways and smushed out the good. Could you imagen how much more in depth, dimensional and incredible that would make Blake?! Her declaring she'll fight for what she refers to as the real Adam and not the husk of a dead man that she see's from Volume 3 onward But nope lets never let her have any character development and when she does...rush it or have it go no where. This was a little idea anyway.

I also don’t agree that we should abandon the sisterhood idea because we don’t know what Monty wanted. I would argue instead that Monty’s friends are injecting their personal agenda into the show. If the Shane thing is to be believed, we should expect Shane (who was Monty’s protege) and Monty’s widow to have stayed on the team for RWBY Given that Glynda’s voice actress was sacked for agreeing with the contents of Shane’s expose, I would think there is a bit of truth in Shane’s document
107 Facts about RWBY from a few years ago well before Volume 6 literally stated that Monty would include lgbtqia characters but that RWBY would be a sisterhood i.e. no romantic subplots within them. That's how far back the entire sisterhood is.

If you think about it... Where do any of them go from here. All of their "character arcs" are finished. Ruby's goal was to be a huntress that helps ppl.... That's what she is now Wiess wanted to become a huntress to redeem her family name... pretty much done Blake wanted faunus equality. That's been a check and the white fang story arc is done. Yang just wanted thrills and to find her mom... and she did that. I guess that's why their characters seem so boring now. Not only did three of the four leave their quirky personalities behind, but their "character arcs" are done, but the end to the over all story is no where in site! 😒
I don’t remember if Monty planned out the whole story with the maidens and relics (I mean if he did I’m sure he had a good idea for that story and where to take it, may he Rest In Peace) but ever since they left the school setting and focused on all this other shit the story just went downhill. I don’t hate it completely and I’m curious to see how it ends, really hoping vol 8 is better.
Bland is a character who only really existed to be an allegory for racism and discrimination. You disregard that, and she's just one half of a ship. Yang might technically be a worse character ATM, but I still think Blake is the worst because her own plot line with the White Fang singlehandedly held the show back, and while her worst moments are still in Volumes 4 and 5, right now she's a nothing burger who once again exists as one half of a ship. There's really no point to her even being here now that her main antagonist is gone. At least Raven is still out there so Yang could potentially have more moments with her that MIGHT impact the plot in a meaningful way. Ruby still has her discount Anti-Grimm Sharingan and her rivalry with Cinder if you could even call it that. Hell, Weiss will most likely have to deal with the consequences of her father being imprisoned now that the Schnee Dust Company lost the one man that runs it, which could impact the economy in a negative manner. But unless RT surprises me in Volume 8, Blake will in my eyes remain the most useless character in the team.
The problem is they didn't even do that right. The racism allegory doesn't work when the "victim" is a manipulative hypocrites who creates he own problems (If you read the comics you'll see what I mean)
I unfortunately have a problem with the Bumblebee shipping. It feels forced and extremely bias, and I don't think it was planned but rather a result of fandom bias, the shipping becoming too popular to the point where the voice actresses are on board with it, and that unsettles me. They haven't written Yang and Blake's relationship very well, keep ignoring narratives they could go with as well as never address their issues and struggles as you have explained in this and Yang's video. They chose to make Blake a flat character and to not focus on Yang's issues or goals like protecting her sister or what it feels like to be known as a violent bitch by the world. They are forcing them to have chemistry when really they don't, which is why when they do those ship teases, it feels artificial and stale. They can't flesh them out good enough for me to even care about Yang and Blake at this point. It's not a matter if Bumblebee is happening, but when now. And it will probably be as disappointing as I think it is. And the reason I like Black Sun better is because at least Sun helped out with her character development during the Menagerie arc despite how poor it was. Sun made Blake realize that pushing people away won't help and that it's okay to accept help from others. It least Sun feels like he has real chemistry with Blake, I'm not ignoring that blush Blake had when they mentioned Sun to her, I think she does like him. But again, it will be overruled by stupid fucking Bumblebee, a half-assed poorly written pairing that was created by bias. Also please do not take offense to my opinion over Bumblebee, I don't hate on people who like the shipping but I think that it's overwhelming bias within the fandom that led to things becoming how they are.
I couldn't say it better. Blake could have been really cool honestly but since M&K gave up the Faunus plot, she lost all that what made her unique in team RWBY. She's just a part of a ship that I find very bad written and I'm not the only one fortunately. That's too bad, I used to love her before
Did anyone notice that Arryn's voice acting got worse throughout the volumes? Sure, during the first volumes her acting was not perfect, but you could still hear emotion on her voice. Now, for the most part, she delivers a monotone, emotionless talking, and I don't know who's fault is, the voice acting director or her.
From what I get she lives & works somewhere else so they send her the lines and she records in on her own and sends it back. So there is no realtime-featback and considering the higher amount of time this kind of exchange takes maybe they just think even if some takes are bad, they are not bad enough to spend 5 minutes writing a mail and wait for 10 minutes for a reply with the new recorded line from her...
I remember during Volume 2, they would have the four voice actresses act out their lines together. Just to see how it should sound and what would sound natural. It was like improv basically. But since both Arryn and Kara left RT in late 2015, we haven't really gotten that again.
She has no story. She's a prop for Weiss and Yang now. You can pin that on Miles and Kerry not being able to write a story about racism and then dropping it completely when they realised they effed up. Now you've got the one girl on the team who's just... there.

That's the only statement that I highly disagree with him and I've watched and agreed with all of his points in his breakdown/recap videos. There's more evidence to suggest that it was supposed to be a sisterhood than it wasn't. I'm sticking on the side that has evidence against it. Also he clearly isn't aware of how Monte's wife was supposed to help with the show after he passed (as it was Monte's wish since she did give out some ideas for some chapters when he was alive) but they didn't want her help. Point being is that they clearly don't care about respecting Monte's wishes and trying to do what he would've wanted.

Thank you for this video. For real. One of the main problem with writing at this point is that they ignore their character's personal goals. It's kind of an amateur writing problem. A realistic character always has some very personal arc and goal, beside the "main" storyline. That's what makes them human. And at the start of RWBY it was obvious (almost) from the trailers. Weiss wants to change her inheritence and make the Schnee name clean again, Blake wants to end racism, wants equality and peace, and Yang wants to find her mother and the reason why she abandoned her. They all speak out these goals in early volumes. But the writers ignored, forgot or made these big events in their life meaningless. Blake is the one suffering the most of this. They took her personal war from her, which took her passion and even her own goal from her. Yang is the second biggest victim of this. Since her search for her birthmother ended up ridiculously easy, there is not much for ther to do now. So what to do with two butchered character after you took their motivation from them? Well, let's use them for fanservice, because then people will be too busy to notice that they are missing their own story.
@@benjaminmcneil574 Ruby is the only one who's goal and motivation isn't that personal (or we don't know yet, it's probably linked to her mother). All she said is that she wants to be like the heroes in her books. That's why it made sense that after the split she is the one who follows Qrow and goes on a journey, she wants to be like a hero, and a hero fights grims and goes on adventure. She is the only one who actually has a reason to stick with Ozpin and do this whole maiden-relic bullshit. Because that's what heroes do in books. And if now it's a bit poorly handled, but they do start to hint that Summer Rose has to do something with this whole desire to be a hero. So yeah, her own goal is a bit... abstract and basic at the moment, but she atleast has one. I can't believe I got to a point where I'm defending Ruby's character, I don't really like her :D.

Kyrande Fox-fairy the problem with that, is that the show is calmly rwby. She’s the main character. The fact that she feels like a side character along for the ride of ozpins story hinders her as a character. She’s just there to be there like everyone else. Shane's letter was penned by a at-the-time mentally unstable man (his words not mine) who just both lost one of his close friends and got divorced by his wife because he was never around. Yes he was let go, but he himself even said that RT told him they would be willing to re-hire him when he got his shit together, but obviously that went out the window with the letter. Some of his complaints were nonsense, like complaining RT was hiring professionals to work on RWBY rather than just their friends like Monty did (he complained that Yuri Lowenthal, voice of SASUKE UCHIHA and one of the best known dub VAs, was hired as Mercury's VA for V3 onwards instead of JJ). He has even said since he regrets writing it, probably because he burnt every bridge and connection he had in doing so and hasn't worked in animation since. Miles and Kerry had veered away from what Monty wanted even before he died sometimes, usually for the better (nobody wanted a random out-of-nowhere Raven vs JNPR fight in Volume 3). They're credited as the writers since Volume 1 and usually considered co-creators for a reason. Monty was getting into arguments with RT because RT was pressuring him to switch from Poser to Maya for animation, since Maya is an objectively better program that's a million times easier to animate on while Poser's an outdated piece of shit that is hard to find hires for, and unlike Monty and Shane most of the rest of the team wasn't willing to spend 95% of their week working. And again, that was a good call; no matter your opinion, only an idiot would try denying that the production values of Volumes like 6 and 7 (and even Volume 3) make Volumes 1 and 2 look even more like amateur projects in comparison. You want to know why we haven't gotten another "Cinder_running_on_rooftop.mp4" since the transition? It's because Poser was shit and while I loved the guy Monty was a fool to cling to it for so long. Volume 4 and 5 didn't "retcon" anything, even the aura retcon wasn't a retcon, they just did a terrible job explaining it in Volume 1. It's also not where this "Monty" nonsense really took off, because really despite Volume 5 being shit, Volume 6 was where this "this isn't what Monty wanted" crowd got out of control, mainly because they were mad about Bumbleby and/or Adam. Turns out assholes discovered that they could use "what Monty wanted" as a means of fighting for what they wanted instead. Glynda's VA was let go because she kept on getting in fights with Barbara, Yang's VA and one of the RT community managers, some of which were even public on Twitter at the time. She only spoke out about the letter AFTER that happened. If you want to accuse RT of shit at least do your own research. Otherwise you just look like an idiot.

Hell he was clearly holding RWBY back, considering it's thanks to him the Volume 5 production shitshow happened in the first place. If you actually did research, why would you be leaving so many details out? You also wouldn't be getting details objectively wrong like why Glynda's VA was let go. I'm not an "RT defender", I just don't subscribe to the Hero Hei style of research that is dismissing anything that doesn't adhere to my narrative.

For the things that weren't, Kathleen (Glynda's VA) and Barbara's feuding was public on Twitter at the time, and anyone with any knowledge of animation will tell you Poser is crap and Maya is better, they aren't RT/RWBY/Monty specific programs. If you want to hate RT for the layoffs, go ahead. But Shane's letter is crap, which is what yo ureplied about in the first place.
My biggest problem with Blake is that she’s a walking bundle of wasted storytelling potential. I mean, the writers could’ve been clever with Blake and incorporate a bit of social commentary on racism and discrimination into her story. I would’ve loved to see that. The concept of Blake being a member of this species who are essentially treated as a minority intrigued me, and it could’ve been used to further her development as a main character. But this is RT we’re talking about. Of course they couldn’t do that. Actually, what really irks me is that Blake isn’t an actual CHARACTER anymore. She’s become an accessory to Yang courtesy of the Bumblebee shippers who heckled the writers until they got what they wanted. This is why the fandom shouldn’t have a say in what goes on in the story- that’s the writers’ jobs and only they should decide what happens to whom in the lore. I have nothing against fandoms, I just hate it whenever the creative team cave to their demands. It seems that both Yang and Blake have “Starco Syndrome.” This is where the writers decide to place shipping over development in terms of level of importance. Ever since Bumblebee became canon, their respective developments (which were practically nonexistent before anyways) have been brought to a standstill to pave the way for shipping moments. Actually, out of all of Team RWBY, Weiss is the only one who has actually developed properly since V1. No wonder why she’s so popular now. TL;DR: I’m annoyed that RT skimmed over Blake’s storytelling potential because they were too scared of writing her in a way that she could seem actually useful and a benefit to Team RWBY. She is now Blake the Accessory, which is a terrible character development idea. Weiss is best girl.
TBF, I do think the Atlas arc should have focused on both Blake and Weiss. Atlas being the basis for the Schnee company and faunus slavery, but even then I'd argue the whole Schnee plotline felt rushed and barely explored.(which sadly feels like a lot of RWBY plotlines) I said before v7 even started this was not the time to write in Bumblebee. The had a set time limit since Salem was already on her way with an army and needed as much time as possible to explore the Faunus Schnee story, but naw we need to shoe horn in all these bee moments and make things casual for the group. Just like v6, when the entire White Fang just left Adam cause he escaped an unwinnable situation. Yeah political figures have made horrible mistakes but have never come close to losing all their followers. But we can't have Adam lose to Sun and Blake in v5, so we have to contrived the fuck out of his escape and contrive his social standing with the WF for Bumblebee Just like Yang was *meant* (I say meant, cause this is completely supported by the guide book and various answers from the writers) to be the mother figure for Ruby and be overprotective of her, but no we have to contrive the story to Yang being completely obsessed with the girl whom she never got to know and has only hurt her. You see a pattern here, aside from being a complete shit show of a set up, Bumblebee keeps sucking away the potential this series has. The relationship is already unnatural and on shaky grounds and the writers have to compensate for it by contriving other plot lines as well. I can only hope someday we get the Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood equivalent to RWBY, but that would require the staff to admit Bumblebee wasn't suppose to happen and that's gonna open up a whole bunch of shit
I really wish the writers never saw the memes that the viewers made or maybe didn’t act on it so bad. They try really hard to force things like bumblebee and Weiss being “best girl” when a lot of these things we love stemmed from the characters just acting how they were and not really forced by the writers or animators. Like the scenes that are pushing bumblebee are SO FORCED. but in the early volumes it was more of the simple interactions they had that made people like the ship. Instead we have a bunch of moments where they are randomly blushing, holding hands and FREAKING DANCING. Weiss was literally just sassy that’s why we liked her character it had NOTHING TO DO WITH HER ACTIONS. like forcing her to be all “justice for all” like she literally was not that interested in Faunus before and never really changed her opinion when she found out about Blake

And the passengers of this ship is eating it right up until they too go dry. Everyone has a patient limit RT and we will wait till the day that patients runs out.
To be completely honest I don't even think they're going to make it to Vacuo. Volume seven felt like such a set up to Volume 8 it was unreal. Then everybody knows that if the boss character shows up, the story is about to end because once the antagonist is defeated there is no problem anymore. So my guess is that volume 9 will be the end. Next regardless of what Monty said or not, the story has always felt like it's been bog down with romance subplots or the pursuit of those subplots. I mean Bumblebee is a perfect example with how shoehorned or forced it is. Now the argument can be made that you can add a romance subplot but like every writer fears or should fear, that subplot should not take priority over the main plotline which in this case it has. Blake and Yang dont even feel like characters anymore. They're just a ship. I mean it feels more and more like they are fighting Salem just cuz. I mean the ending of their character arcs should have led to another internal conflict challenging their new outlooks

I think the only "stake" Blake has in RWBY will only be when they go to Vacuo. I think. But that's around 2 volumes from now. Even then, the stake is a very weak and minor stake

I just hope they'll at least try and give her SOME personality. She's always felt like the most flat member of the group because her personality used to only boil down to "faunus", and now that they've abandoned the whole faunus stuff, she's now "Yang's girlfriend". That is all she offers to the table, and it just makes me annoyed that CRWBY seem unable to write Blake well whilst they're writing other characters (such as Weiss, Jaune or Ironwood) pretty well. It certainly doesn’t help that Yang herself has been boiled down to “Blake’s Girlfriend.” They’re both characters entirely dependent on their girlfriend, but neither of them actually have enough character to be depended on, so they both fall hilariously flat.
Remember when in Volume 5, Weiss made the statement "I'm more than a name!" Blake in the recent volumes is saying the exact opposite. She's a diversity hire to be the minority of everything. Victim to racists, gay, that quiet girl. She's a name on a poll that the Fandom votes on to decide what they want in the show. Want a gay couple in the main cast? VOTE BLAKE! Want relatable victim to everything character? VOTE BLAKE! Those two are of course the main 'appeals' of Blake's current character/personality. The old Blake used to be this. She stood up for actual victims who couldn't defend themselves, she saw corruption in something once good and decided to separate from that group because she had a mind of her own. Her ideology often contrasted the ideals of her teammates. She used to get caught up in her passions, which could often damage her relationships with her friends or family, but she'd learn and apologize. She'd mess up of course, but she'd LEARN. She also used to question the morality of those around her, or their choices in general. That last one made me think of Ruby lying to the General. Don't you imagine that the old Blake would question that decision, think it through carefully, and approach Ruby cautiously to ensure she wasn't straying from the good path like her mentor Adam once did? I mean, she did the same with Yang in Volume 3. She lashed out at Weiss in Volume 1 for her narrow-minded ideas about the faunus. She questioned Ozpin and how he wasn't doing enough for the faunus. She remained loyal to all these friends of course, but she spoke her mind and shared her wisdom and experiences with her team. What a contrast.
Hell she approached Weiss in Volume 1 about how her families way of doing things. She was originally very outspoken and opinionated, now she’s nothing, she’s just “there”.
I’m surprised you can do individual videos for the bees. Every time they make a ship they stop being a person and just become a pair. Volume 6 onwards you can just refer to them as bees, same for renora (i typed out renora before I even thought of putting their names first), look to the future when you will be referring to ruby and Oscar as rosegarden since its obvious where they want to go with that.
To be honest, rosegarden actually has the potential to become a much better developed and believable ship than bumblebee. Unlike the latter, Ruby and Oscars relationship is immediately established the moment they cross paths. They actually have genuine conversations about themselves. And unlike renora, Ruby and Oscar are aloud to interact with other characters outside of themselves like how Oscar is with Nora. It’s not much so far but you can definitely tell that they’re planting seeds for something later down the road. It honestly feels like the writers are developing a legitimate friendship before becoming a romantic relationship. If the show is intending for them to eventually become a couple, then it’s been a slow burn so far.
Kaiser Zer0 but here is the thing, any ship can work if done well and RT have proven they just can’t do it. Rosegarden, as it stands now, has purely been one sided and the pair have had one conversation in volume 7 up until the cringy scene where they mimic how the bees were during the first mission. Also I just consider anyone that gets with Oscar to be purely so someone cares about the meat suit because frankly he is not even a character. By himself he is basically Jaune 2.0 back in volume 1 but more annoying cus he gets all the skills with none of the training. Only time he is interesting is when he sounds like Ozpin.
stickginge I see what you mean, the writing quality in the show has been hit and miss at best. Renora started out perfectly in the show, but after 7 years of ship baiting, they lost me with their “payoff” in Vol 7. Jaune and Pyyrah remain the only couple with a clear vision and direction. Nothing felt forced or shoehorned in, cheesy at times, but better with that than anything else. And it didn’t drag us along for 7 years pretending to be something it wasn’t. And while my biggest problem with Oscar is how often he goes through character development *offscreen,* he has remained to be one of the few characters in the show that has stayed consistent. And to be honest, I personally find Ruby and Oscars interactions rather charming, even their last conversation where they were being awkward with each other. It’s way better than how it’s pathetically done with Blake and Yangs interactions on how this volume desperately claws at every opportunity for some kind of chemistry regardless of how cringe worthy it comes off as. Keep in mind that they had more than one conversation in the show, I meant as in other than Vol 7. Oscar interacts with Ruby the most, they had a conversation with each other in Vol 5, and she was the only person that comforted Oscar while everyone else hated him in Vol 6. To say the ship is purely from one conversation is incorrect. And I’m not saying that’s enough to make the ship overall believable, it still has a long way to go for it to feel genuine. And while it’s somewhat one sided, you can’t deny that there’s a solid set up for this dynamic and it’s hard not to see why some people are getting excited for this pairing. It feels like they’re building a legitimate friendship before growing into something more. I’m just saying is that it has potential to be done really solid if they keeps this up. Sadly this is RWBY we’re talking about, a web series with normally amateurish writing taking itself too seriously these past few years so I’m not holding my breath for them to really pull this off. Only time will tell.

Sure he has interacted with her the most but it’s cus no one wants to interact with him, if we base a ship of most interaction Blake would be with sun, Ruby with Jaune or Weiss etc. He’s the meat suit, the farm boy, someone who is only there because he has someone actually useful inside him. I also disagree with arkos being any good. Sure it seemed nice but the entire foundation for it that we saw was he did not know who she was so she made him her partner in initiation. Once again it felt like a one sided thing, that Pyrrha’s character boiled down to destiny and loving Jaune. We don’t even know if Jaune would have returned those feelings. yes he has been struggling with her death and they had that parting kiss but that kiss was more of a final thing Pyrrha wanted to do before going to most likely die. Jaune is likely sad that his partner, who he cared for, had feelings for him that he did not know about and did not return said feelings at that point cus it was so sudden, then she died becoming a permanent reminder of the girl that loved him who died. Once again it could have been good, it could have worked, but it just didn’t in show with how little we are given. Nearly all ships in this show rely on the viewer coming up with their own headcanon on why it works. Anyway back to rosegarden. I just don’t think it works cus Oscar is barely a character and they are trying to put him with the main character. The only times he shows character is when he sounds and acts like ozma, showing that they are bleeding into each other so the kid we have is not Oscar, it’s Oscar who acts like ozma and frankly I would just want ozma back at that point.
Big shock, they dumpstered two characters' entire character development arc and narrative arcs(White Fang on Blake's side, Raven on the other) so they could slam Yang and Blake together like a pair of dolls, and what happens? Both characters just wind up empty husks. Certainly not the first time they did that(Adam being dumpstered for Bumblebee), and considering how a character who had more lines than Ren or Nora got written out of the show for probably 4 seasons(Sun), it most certainly will not be the last time they throw a character's development potential or otherwise away.
Look what they did to Qrow! From elite huntsman with world class experience and knowledge, able to put Ironwood in his place at the same time sharing wisdom with his nieces. To a wimpy I don't know what I'm doing anymore. The kids seem right, I'll follow them. Let them do all the talking. No longer the adult in the room. (Oh, and I'll team up with the serial killer against another ship teased and overly decisive character who was supposed to be one of the good guys because that makes really good sense.)
So in regards to Volume 6 they did to Blake the EXACT same thing they did with Ozpin’s skin suit also known as Oscar, they skipped an essential part of her story and overall character, but act like as if it always happened and we just weren’t paying attention. A problem I’ve noticed more so in Volume 7 then with Volume 6, is that the writers are more concerned in finding ways to keep the plot moving forward, while at the same time having their main characters fall behind in regards to their own developments and overall progress in the story, but act as if any new characteristics are earned due to the events that transpired but don’t show it. Abridged version: Plot comes first no matter how much it might negatively effect the characters part in the story as a whole. Edit: Insightful video as always Vexed.
They're so hard pressed to have a plot-driven story(so we can focus on the plot!) that the pacing leaves *NO* time for characters to breathe. We can't have character-driven moments anymore because they're hard-pressed to focus on plot instead, when it's the characters that help you care about the plot in the first place. There's no balance.

If they needed Blake to have something to do that wasn’t guarding the election, just have her stay at home reading a book, and if they REALLY wanted to shove some Bumblebee in there, they could’ve had a scene of Blake asking Yang if she’d like to read a book together, and there’s the excuse for why the two of them aren’t with Ruby, tah-daaaah!

Barely having 2 sentences with Ruby the entire volume. "Yang has her own life. She her own person. Why should I expect Yang to still want to be concerned with Ruby's wellbeing? Do I expect her to always smoother Ruby with attention....." yada yada yada. Totally miss reading want I was trying to say about Yang not even talking to Ruby anymore. Yet here we are. Yang and Blake can't be apart. Always on top of each other's concerns. No longer acting as individuals. (No protests from the shippers. If anything, complaints about not going further with the shows of affection between the two.) Quite the double standard. Alot of precious minutes in this volume where lost to BB fanservice. Episodes are to short to waste time on that and the volume already felt very rushed as it is. The writers had a lot of potentially good story happen offscreen, while making sure to have BB get there space.

The thing is these people were never his friends. They were never fans of anime as a medium/genre (at least not Miles and Kerry) and only ever saw this series as a platform. The Glassdoor Reviews proves it from the clique culture of the workplace, the way they threw Vic under the bus for his being open about his faith and possibly being a closeted conservative, and even their Twitter feeds prove these people to be extremely toxic. The moment they fired Shane and put two monkeys behind the typewriter it was fair game for them to insert their agenda. They never cared about anything Monty did for this series. He may not have been an excellent storyteller but it was his vision to make this series about a sisterhood of heroes. These people aee it as a way to promote modern identity politics. Ultimately this series is unsalvageable and its only gonna get worse. These people are able to get away with it and the viewers encourage them because they largely agree with their politics.
It was never meant to be good. Not after being subjected to the Menagerie arc of Blake and Sun only for this bait and switch to happen. Yang and Blake didn't even have as much chemistey as Blake and Sun.

6:24 people believe that because bumblebee thing is clearly forced and poorly excecuted. From volume 1 to 5 there is not a single scene which can indicate that one has feelings for another one.
Blakes entire role in the show is to constantly talk about systemic oppression and how its very bad m’kay? As well trying to be the relatable one to teenagers who think that they’re the smartest kid in their class and that no one understands them.
I'm happy that Blake (with Sun) had an arc to get some closure on the matter but there has only ever been a handful of times Blake has ever been discriminated against because she's not human which defeats the point of having her star in the role of facing discrimination and leading to peace. There is background context roughly in some cases to signify Faunus aren't liked but not enough to actually make any societal point.
Right now? According to the fanbase, Rooster Teeth and her interactions in the show, it's being Yang's girlfriend. Nothing else. ... "Quality writing".
At this point, the only characters I find relevant now are Ruby, Jaune, Oscar and Weiss. I'll cling to the idea that Ruby can still be saved since she *is* the protagonist. Jaune has more character depth than Blake and Yang combined and he actually has a motivation for adventuring with the gang. That's saying something because he isn't even part of the *actual* protagonists. Oscar has an arc ahead him regarding Ozpin and what not... and then there's Weiss. Sure she went through a lot of character development and I like that about her but I just don't like the fact that she keeps outshining the others now. I feel like the writers are just showcasing how much she's changed because they are getting positive feedback from her but at this rate it's just going to get satire. Other characters don't matter anymore since the story won't change regardless if they are present or not.
This is gonna be long, rambly, and not TOO FOCUSED, because a lot of my thoughts about Blake, Yang, Adam, Bumbleby, etc were ranted on in the past. But, I'm actually going to disagree with the vid's initial point: Adam honestly shouldn't have been killed off this early in. I think the biggest problem with Blake's character is how quickly they jumped from rock bottom to redemption. I wish Volume 6 actually ended in Blake having to choose between Yang's life and kliling Adam. And she chooses Yang's life and Adam gets to escape and even that doesn't QUITE get her and Yang back on good terms but merely gets Yang trying to recover from the betrayal of her best friend who she lost an arm for abandoning her at her moment of greatest need. Can you imagine waking up with your last memory being your friend being stabbed in the gut by her psycho terrorist ex (and yes they should've went all in with Blake being in a real romantic underage relationship with Adam) who then chopped your arm off and that friend NOT BEING AROUND ANYMORE. That must've been fucking terrifying and then after 3 volumes of trying so hard to get Blake to just LET THEM HELP she abandoned them all "for their safety" which while an understandable nad forgiveable rock bottom moment, never quite got focused on as much as it shuold have. Blake's biggest demon in Volume's 5 and 6 should never have been ADAM and should've instead been HERSELF. She should've been having to earn back the trust, love, and respect of her friends and her very re-emergence should've been a source of conflict among Team RWBY. Nora should've not cared because life is crazy. Ren shuold've been cold heartless truth that Blake did a bad thing. Ruby should've been Team Yang because blood is thicker than water. Oscar should've felt like such a misfit outcast with Ozpin teling him what happened and then acting as a bit of an outside perspective kind of epiphany moment. Yang should've HATED -- Pure white rage HATED -- Blake for leaving. And Weiss should've come around as the ironic piggy in the middle trying ot hold the team together. With the big fight at the end of V6 being Blake/Jaune/Nora, Ruby/Ren/Yang and Weiss/Oscar as central focuses. Precisely BECAUSE Blake has lost the trust and faith of Yang and Ruby and Ren. And it should've been a REAL STORYLINE. Instead Blake came back. All was pretty much forgiven with little overall drama between Team RWBY (sans maybe a few VERY EARLY scenes). And that's equal parts unrealistic and entirely bland for all characters involved. Then Adam should've came back into it at a later date maybe not even as part of The White Fang but just as a central figure, maybe even one who is now more concerned with ripping Yang away from Blake than he is ripping Blake away from RWBY.
Blake has always been my least favorite, but everything Marrow said, should've been Blake. Instead of sending Marrow to help guard Robyn, it should've been Blake. She could've been a bulwark against Robyn's crimes and irrational behavior. Robyn: "We're trying to make a more equal society for everyone." Blake: "I know what that's like more than anyone. I've spent my whole life fighting for it. But trust me when I say we need trust more than anything. We're here to help." Or something like that. As lame as Blake's character development has been, she's developed into a strong defender of the Faunus without being an extremist. She should stand behind that while other characters get their time to develop. I suppose it's another issue of too many characters. But even if the writer's introduce new characters, they shouldn't be afraid to leave them shallow. They're background characters. Sure, develop Clover if you need to for Qrow's character, but we don't need to know what the Ace Ops really thinks. They take away time and development from characters we do care about. Characters that should show their personality and be who we know them to be. My problem is that in Volume 1-3, I knew who team RWBY was and how'd they each handle certain situations. Now I feel like I don't really know them at all or what they're going to do.
The fact that they forced the relationship between Blake and Yang completely ruined those characters. And now they just around for the ride and represent bumblebee. Failure. I’m not interested in them anyways.
On the first topic you brought out on how Blake's fire ran out all of a sudden, I think it comes with the event from Vol3 followed by the event in vol5, since she had become more fragile and more "afraid/timid/calm". We can suppose these moments greatly changed how she would behave in the future volumes (6 and 7). Still, That make her pretty inexistant in the lore. Beside that, bro you are killing every time with your editing and jokes: "Unfortunaly for Blake, like Yang, she's nothing more than one half of a ship. She's pretty much on the same boat!" XD XD you didn't have to do them like that.
Tbh bumbleebee ruined lots of storylines. Just to name a few blacksun, adam taurus story, yang ptsd, yang & rwby sisterhood. It also ruined potential chracter development like ruby, yang, adam, blake, and sun. Its why I hate bumblebee so much was sacrificed for what? A gay relationship with depth? I would've been fine if the relationship itself was good, but its mediocre at best, and trite forced woke pandering at worst.

Exactly. A good character wasted because RT gave into the demands of their fans which was THE WORST CHOICE EVER. Yang and Blake should be purely Platonic and Blake should be in Sun’s arms not being written so out of character that we forget the fact that she’s the female stoic counter part of Ren for RWBY and they clearly couldn’t write that and leave that in.
Honestly, you can tell in their writing they haven’t had someone of a diverse background come in and help out with the discrimination scenes involving Blake. They can write Weiss standing up for Blake easily- because they can draw from their own experience and what they would do. The writers are struggling to connect with Blake because she has a different experience than their own. NOW. does this mean other writers can’t write on these social experiences no. Plenty of great writers have great characters with diverse experiences. But that’s the difference. A great writer can listen to others and recollect their experiences and implement it into their stories. The writers of Rwby are struggling with that. And since they are- they need to be more open minded about people of different walks of life help develop their script for these characters. Or else they can only connect with characters with similar backgrounds of their own.
All in all they need to take some writing classes.

Everyone has his or her own core foundation. No one should just be defined by a relationship, let alone a ship. That’s disgusting, and frankly, poor writing. Imagine if people just defined you by who you were intimate with, when you still remain an individual, with your own set of beliefs, views, and abilities.
It’s almost as if, the LGBT have been asking society to NOT define them by who their intimate partner is because they remain regular functioning human beings. I think time spent developing each individual character with lessons and growth is more vital than showing a character growing into a relationship before individual growth is achieved.
Swear I hated how they always had Weiss to cut in on those moments to make it seem like she's saving Blake from the racism. Makes me really miss the Blake from vol 1-3 when she was actively doing shit and passionate about ending fanus discrimination. I couldn't see the sassy Blake from the early Volumes stay quiet when that Drunk started yapping. Now she's just being used to make the other girls look good. Guess that's how it goes for characters who completed their stories in ongoing series right?
In this show, yes. But in a better show she would just be given a new arc, and another one when that arc is finished. These writers either don't care, or just aren't creative enough to think of something new for Blake.

Since this is the most racist nation they could've had a plot line where Blake got kidnapped and forced to compete in an underground cage fight gladiator style for Fanus (like illegal dog fighting). Show how terrible it got, show the rich assholes (Like Weiss' dad) gambling on the matches. Let her see how down and defeated the Fanus there would be and drive her to the edge of breaking. But she'll find a way to still have hope and eventually she'll find a way to escape (On her own, NOT be rescued by the others until she's already escaped). That could've been a 3 or so episode subplot to juice up the barren and boring political plot line
My bigger question is why did they have to make the racist in Atlas a drunk, what they couldn't write a sober clear minded man who can speak his mind with full confidience.

@@BlackNChaos Marrow was a super missed possible plotline. In a rewrite I did for the Ace-ops v RWBY fight I suggested that Marrow and Ironwood's relationship gets defined. In this rewrite Marrow's semblance brings heavy pain to whomever falls victim to it, and Marrow understandably dislikes using it but feels pressured to by ironwood and the other Ace-ops. In this rewrite, Marrow is the most picked on of the Ace-ops the most crude jokes are made at his expense and his input is valued less than the others. When it comes to his relationship with Ironwood, he dislikes him because Ironwood sees Marrow as an attack dog, or a semblance more than an actual person. I feel this could've given merit to Marrow's claim in how despite being of such a high rank he's not appreciated by those around him.

The way they ignored Blake's character development is how I feel about how they ignored Jaune's redemption moment vs Cinder. They ruined what could have been a great character development on Jaune getting some type of closure over Pyrrha's death but instead ruined that moment to humiliate him and mock him over the woman he actually loved. I don't think the series EVER properly has given abuse and trauma proper time or situations to heal, leaving this looming empty character hole. Where does Blake learn that it's okay to let go of this guilt over Yang's arm? While I understand why Blake would feel this unintentional guilt, there is never any moment that Yang confronts this 'dotting' behavior nor an opportunity for Blake to 'learn a lesson'.

@@nikonarshe9296 it isn't speculation; when Blake tries to get yang's bags for her and yang tells her she doesn't have to that which blake denies. At the farm Yang tells Blake that she still has nightmares about the night she lost her arm and Blake says that its going to be alright because she isn't leaving this time and that she'll protect yang which starts the "what" moment between the two which was featured in this video. She confronted Blake both times one where she was nice and the other where is being clearly defensive. The problem with this dynamic between the two of them is that wasn't given a proper resolution like you said and it went into another direction altogether.
The dumb thing about that is when Vol 5 was on its way everyone was talking about the Blake short, and when it came around it was entirely dedicated to Illia (which is why I hate that character-we could have had a moment to find out who Blake was when she joined, or even the straw that broke the camels back to cause her to leave, but nope one shitty backstory to a background/side character).
And even in Vol 6 Yang treats Blake like everything is fine, even having a nice bit of banter fighting on the train, on the farm it changes and then once in Atlas it changes again.
I wished Blake kept the bow, it definitely defined her more than without it.

She remembers the good he once had and realizes he was a victim/puppet in the whole system that Salem was operating behind the scenes, she realizes he was used and pushed down a dark path...she realizes he was abused all his life and as a result, an abuse victim became an abuser (towards Blake)
Imagen Blake taking up the remains of Adams sword and making it her own, maybe even wearing a similar jacket to Adam from volumes 1-3 and fighting for the freedom and equality the GOOD Adam she knew fought for...the one who joined the White Fang eager and hopeful. NOT the Adam promised Faunus equality by Salem he was probablly never gonna get. NOT the one influenced and pushed down a dark path to become a monster (by that cat milf woman...whatever her name was that was killed off quickly). NOT the one that was surrounded by the wrong people who just encouraged his bad ways and smushed out the good.
Could you imagen how much more in depth, dimensional and incredible that would make Blake?! Her declaring she'll fight for what she refers to as the real Adam and not the husk of a dead man that she see's from Volume 3 onward

I don’t remember if Monty planned out the whole story with the maidens and relics (I mean if he did I’m sure he had a good idea for that story and where to take it, may he Rest In Peace) but ever since they left the school setting and focused on all this other shit the story just went downhill. I don’t hate it completely and I’m curious to see how it ends, really hoping vol 8 is better.
Bland is a character who only really existed to be an allegory for racism and discrimination. You disregard that, and she's just one half of a ship. Yang might technically be a worse character ATM, but I still think Blake is the worst because her own plot line with the White Fang singlehandedly held the show back, and while her worst moments are still in Volumes 4 and 5, right now she's a nothing burger who once again exists as one half of a ship. There's really no point to her even being here now that her main antagonist is gone. At least Raven is still out there so Yang could potentially have more moments with her that MIGHT impact the plot in a meaningful way. Ruby still has her discount Anti-Grimm Sharingan and her rivalry with Cinder if you could even call it that. Hell, Weiss will most likely have to deal with the consequences of her father being imprisoned now that the Schnee Dust Company lost the one man that runs it, which could impact the economy in a negative manner. But unless RT surprises me in Volume 8, Blake will in my eyes remain the most useless character in the team.
In order to be the "Worst" character, first you must have Some character. Blake doesn't even qualify to be a character in the first place.
The problem is they didn't even do that right. The racism allegory doesn't work when the "victim" is a manipulative hypocrites who creates he own problems

I unfortunately have a problem with the Bumblebee shipping. It feels forced and extremely bias, and I don't think it was planned but rather a result of fandom bias, the shipping becoming too popular to the point where the voice actresses are on board with it, and that unsettles me. They haven't written Yang and Blake's relationship very well, keep ignoring narratives they could go with as well as never address their issues and struggles as you have explained in this and Yang's video. They chose to make Blake a flat character and to not focus on Yang's issues or goals like protecting her sister or what it feels like to be known as a violent bitch by the world.
They are forcing them to have chemistry when really they don't, which is why when they do those ship teases, it feels artificial and stale. They can't flesh them out good enough for me to even care about Yang and Blake at this point. It's not a matter if Bumblebee is happening, but when now. And it will probably be as disappointing as I think it is.
And the reason I like Black Sun better is because at least Sun helped out with her character development during the Menagerie arc despite how poor it was. Sun made Blake realize that pushing people away won't help and that it's okay to accept help from others. It least Sun feels like he has real chemistry with Blake, I'm not ignoring that blush Blake had when they mentioned Sun to her, I think she does like him. But again, it will be overruled by stupid fucking Bumblebee, a half-assed poorly written pairing that was created by bias.
Also please do not take offense to my opinion over Bumblebee, I don't hate on people who like the shipping but I think that it's overwhelming bias within the fandom that led to things becoming how they are.
I couldn't say it better. Blake could have been really cool honestly but since M&K gave up the Faunus plot, she lost all that what made her unique in team RWBY. She's just a part of a ship that I find very bad written and I'm not the only one fortunately. That's too bad, I used to love her before

Did anyone notice that Arryn's voice acting got worse throughout the volumes? Sure, during the first volumes her acting was not perfect, but you could still hear emotion on her voice. Now, for the most part, she delivers a monotone, emotionless talking, and I don't know who's fault is, the voice acting director or her.
From what I get she lives & works somewhere else so they send her the lines and she records in on her own and sends it back. So there is no realtime-featback and considering the higher amount of time this kind of exchange takes maybe they just think even if some takes are bad, they are not bad enough to spend 5 minutes writing a mail and wait for 10 minutes for a reply with the new recorded line from her...
I remember during Volume 2, they would have the four voice actresses act out their lines together. Just to see how it should sound and what would sound natural. It was like improv basically. But since both Arryn and Kara left RT in late 2015, we haven't really gotten that again.

The only thing I altered was fixing the type of "They're" the original post had. (Had There instead of They're).
That's the only statement that I highly disagree with him and I've watched and agreed with all of his points in his breakdown/recap videos.
There's more evidence to suggest that it was supposed to be a sisterhood than it wasn't. I'm sticking on the side that has evidence against it.
Also he clearly isn't aware of how Monte's wife was supposed to help with the show after he passed (as it was Monte's wish since she did give out some ideas for some chapters when he was alive) but they didn't want her help.
Point being is that they clearly don't care about respecting Monte's wishes and trying to do what he would've wanted.

One of the main problem with writing at this point is that they ignore their character's personal goals. It's kind of an amateur writing problem. A realistic character always has some very personal arc and goal, beside the "main" storyline. That's what makes them human. And at the start of RWBY it was obvious (almost) from the trailers. Weiss wants to change her inheritence and make the Schnee name clean again, Blake wants to end racism, wants equality and peace, and Yang wants to find her mother and the reason why she abandoned her. They all speak out these goals in early volumes. But the writers ignored, forgot or made these big events in their life meaningless.
Blake is the one suffering the most of this. They took her personal war from her, which took her passion and even her own goal from her. Yang is the second biggest victim of this. Since her search for her birthmother ended up ridiculously easy, there is not much for ther to do now. So what to do with two butchered character after you took their motivation from them? Well, let's use them for fanservice, because then people will be too busy to notice that they are missing their own story.

All she said is that she wants to be like the heroes in her books. That's why it made sense that after the split she is the one who follows Qrow and goes on a journey, she wants to be like a hero, and a hero fights grims and goes on adventure. She is the only one who actually has a reason to stick with Ozpin and do this whole maiden-relic bullshit. Because that's what heroes do in books. And if now it's a bit poorly handled, but they do start to hint that Summer Rose has to do something with this whole desire to be a hero.
So yeah, her own goal is a bit... abstract and basic at the moment, but she atleast has one.

Kyrande Fox-fairy the problem with that, is that the show is calmly rwby. She’s the main character. The fact that she feels like a side character along for the ride of ozpins story hinders her as a character. She’s just there to be there like everyone else. It doesn’t make more sense that she stuck with Ozpin because Ozpin isn’t the main character and Ozpin doesn’t have the answers she needs. Her being a hero doesn’t make her inclusion make sense, it just means she’s there because the narrative said she needs to be there

So a lot of misinfo here, let me actually drop some other bits.
Shane's letter was penned by a at-the-time mentally unstable man (his words not mine) who just both lost one of his close friends and got divorced by his wife because he was never around. Yes he was let go, but he himself even said that RT told him they would be willing to re-hire him when he got his shit together, but obviously that went out the window with the letter.
Some of his complaints were nonsense, like complaining RT was hiring professionals to work on RWBY rather than just their friends like Monty did (he complained that Yuri Lowenthal, voice of SASUKE UCHIHA and one of the best known dub VAs, was hired as Mercury's VA for V3 onwards instead of JJ). He has even said since he regrets writing it, probably because he burnt every bridge and connection he had in doing so and hasn't worked in animation since.
Miles and Kerry had veered away from what Monty wanted even before he died sometimes, usually for the better (nobody wanted a random out-of-nowhere Raven vs JNPR fight in Volume 3). They're credited as the writers since Volume 1 and usually considered co-creators for a reason.
Monty was getting into arguments with RT because RT was pressuring him to switch from Poser to Maya for animation, since Maya is an objectively better program that's a million times easier to animate on while Poser's an outdated piece of shit that is hard to find hires for, and unlike Monty and Shane most of the rest of the team wasn't willing to spend 95% of their week working.
And again, that was a good call; no matter your opinion, only an idiot would try denying that the production values of Volumes like 6 and 7 (and even Volume 3) make Volumes 1 and 2 look even more like amateur projects in comparison. You want to know why we haven't gotten another "Cinder_running_on_rooftop.mp4" since the transition? It's because Poser was shit and while I loved the guy Monty was a fool to cling to it for so long.
Volume 4 and 5 didn't "retcon" anything, even the aura retcon wasn't a retcon, they just did a terrible job explaining it in Volume 1. It's also not where this "Monty" nonsense really took off, because really despite Volume 5 being shit, Volume 6 was where this "this isn't what Monty wanted" crowd got out of control, mainly because they were mad about Bumbleby and/or Adam. Turns out assholes discovered that they could use "what Monty wanted" as a means of fighting for what they wanted instead.
Glynda's VA was let go because she kept on getting in fights with Barbara, Yang's VA and one of the RT community managers, some of which were even public on Twitter at the time. She only spoke out about the letter AFTER that happened.
If you want to accuse RT of shit at least do your own research. Otherwise you just look like an idiot.

My biggest problem with Blake is that she’s a walking bundle of wasted storytelling potential. I mean, the writers could’ve been clever with Blake and incorporate a bit of social commentary on racism and discrimination into her story. I would’ve loved to see that. The concept of Blake being a member of this species who are essentially treated as a minority intrigued me, and it could’ve been used to further her development as a main character. But this is RT we’re talking about. Of course they couldn’t do that.
Actually, what really irks me is that Blake isn’t an actual CHARACTER anymore. She’s become an accessory to Yang courtesy of the Bumblebee shippers who heckled the writers until they got what they wanted. This is why the fandom shouldn’t have a say in what goes on in the story- that’s the writers’ jobs and only they should decide what happens to whom in the lore. I have nothing against fandoms, I just hate it whenever the creative team cave to their demands.
It seems that both Yang and Blake have “Starco Syndrome.” This is where the writers decide to place shipping over development in terms of level of importance. Ever since Bumblebee became canon, their respective developments (which were practically nonexistent before anyways) have been brought to a standstill to pave the way for shipping moments. Actually, out of all of Team RWBY, Weiss is the only one who has actually developed properly since V1. No wonder why she’s so popular now.
TL;DR: I’m annoyed that RT skimmed over Blake’s storytelling potential because they were too scared of writing her in a way that she could seem actually useful and a benefit to Team RWBY. She is now Blake the Accessory, which is a terrible character development idea. Weiss is best girl.
It's like CRWBY completely forgot that Ruby and Yang were sisters. They have little to no interaction this entire volume.
TBF, I do think the Atlas arc should have focused on both Blake and Weiss. Atlas being the basis for the Schnee company and faunus slavery, but even then I'd argue the whole Schnee plotline felt rushed and barely explored.(which sadly feels like a lot of RWBY plotlines)
I said before v7 even started this was not the time to write in Bumblebee. The had a set time limit since Salem was already on her way with an army and needed as much time as possible to explore the Faunus Schnee story, but naw we need to shoe horn in all these bee moments and make things casual for the group.
Just like v6, when the entire White Fang just left Adam cause he escaped an unwinnable situation. Yeah political figures have made horrible mistakes but have never come close to losing all their followers. But we can't have Adam lose to Sun and Blake in v5, so we have to contrived the fuck out of his escape and contrive his social standing with the WF for Bumblebee
Just like Yang was *meant* (I say meant, cause this is completely supported by the guide book and various answers from the writers) to be the mother figure for Ruby and be overprotective of her, but no we have to contrive the story to Yang being completely obsessed with the girl whom she never got to know and has only hurt her.
You see a pattern here, aside from being a complete shit show of a set up, Bumblebee keeps sucking away the potential this series has. The relationship is already unnatural and on shaky grounds and the writers have to compensate for it by contriving other plot lines as well. I can only hope someday we get the Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood equivalent to RWBY, but that would require the staff to admit Bumblebee wasn't suppose to happen and that's gonna open up a whole bunch of shit

I really wish the writers never saw the memes that the viewers made or maybe didn’t act on it so bad. They try really hard to force things like bumblebee and Weiss being “best girl” when a lot of these things we love stemmed from the characters just acting how they were and not really forced by the writers or animators. Like the scenes that are pushing bumblebee are SO FORCED. but in the early volumes it was more of the simple interactions they had that made people like the ship. Instead we have a bunch of moments where they are randomly blushing, holding hands and FREAKING DANCING. Weiss was literally just sassy that’s why we liked her character it had NOTHING TO DO WITH HER ACTIONS. like forcing her to be all “justice for all” like she literally was not that interested in Faunus before and never really changed her opinion when she found out about Blake
Like Memory once said. "Bumblebee, Get together. subtlety? Be damned." At this point it is an obvious money grab and they running this ship out of the waters. And the passengers of this ship is eating it right up until they too go dry. Everyone has a patient limit RT and we will wait till the day that patients runs out.

To be completely honest I don't even think they're going to make it to Vacuo. Volume seven felt like such a set up to Volume 8 it was unreal. Then everybody knows that if the boss character shows up, the story is about to end because once the antagonist is defeated there is no problem anymore. So my guess is that volume 9 will be the end.
Next regardless of what Monty said or not, the story has always felt like it's been bog down with romance subplots or the pursuit of those subplots. I mean Bumblebee is a perfect example with how shoehorned or forced it is. Now the argument can be made that you can add a romance subplot but like every writer fears or should fear, that subplot should not take priority over the main plotline which in this case it has.
Blake and Yang dont even feel like characters anymore. They're just a ship. I mean it feels more and more like they are fighting Salem just cuz. I mean the ending of their character arcs should have led to another internal conflict challenging their new outlooks

They’re both characters entirely dependent on their girlfriend, but neither of them actually have enough character to be depended on, so they both fall hilariously flat.

Remember when in Volume 5, Weiss made the statement "I'm more than a name!"
Blake in the recent volumes is saying the exact opposite.
She's a diversity hire to be the minority of everything. Victim to racists, gay, that quiet girl. She's a name on a poll that the Fandom votes on to decide what they want in the show. Want a gay couple in the main cast? VOTE BLAKE! Want relatable victim to everything character? VOTE BLAKE! Those two are of course the main 'appeals' of Blake's current character/personality.
The old Blake used to be this.
She stood up for actual victims who couldn't defend themselves, she saw corruption in something once good and decided to separate from that group because she had a mind of her own. Her ideology often contrasted the ideals of her teammates. She used to get caught up in her passions, which could often damage her relationships with her friends or family, but she'd learn and apologize. She'd mess up of course, but she'd LEARN. She also used to question the morality of those around her, or their choices in general.
That last one made me think of Ruby lying to the General. Don't you imagine that the old Blake would question that decision, think it through carefully, and approach Ruby cautiously to ensure she wasn't straying from the good path like her mentor Adam once did? I mean, she did the same with Yang in Volume 3. She lashed out at Weiss in Volume 1 for her narrow-minded ideas about the faunus. She questioned Ozpin and how he wasn't doing enough for the faunus. She remained loyal to all these friends of course, but she spoke her mind and shared her wisdom and experiences with her team.
What a contrast.
Hell she approached Weiss in Volume 1 about how her families way of doing things. She was originally very outspoken and opinionated, now she’s nothing, she’s just “there”.
I’m surprised you can do individual videos for the bees. Every time they make a ship they stop being a person and just become a pair.
Volume 6 onwards you can just refer to them as bees, same for renora (i typed out renora before I even thought of putting their names first), look to the future when you will be referring to ruby and Oscar as rosegarden since its obvious where they want to go with that.
To be honest, rosegarden actually has the potential to become a much better developed and believable ship than bumblebee. Unlike the latter, Ruby and Oscars relationship is immediately established the moment they cross paths. They actually have genuine conversations about themselves. And unlike renora, Ruby and Oscar are aloud to interact with other characters outside of themselves like how Oscar is with Nora.
It’s not much so far but you can definitely tell that they’re planting seeds for something later down the road. It honestly feels like the writers are developing a legitimate friendship before becoming a romantic relationship. If the show is intending for them to eventually become a couple, then it’s been a slow burn so far.

Rosegarden, as it stands now, has purely been one sided and the pair have had one conversation in volume 7 up until the cringy scene where they mimic how the bees were during the first mission.
Also I just consider anyone that gets with Oscar to be purely so someone cares about the meat suit because frankly he is not even a character. By himself he is basically Jaune 2.0 back in volume 1 but more annoying cus he gets all the skills with none of the training. Only time he is interesting is when he sounds like Ozpin.
stickginge I see what you mean, the writing quality in the show has been hit and miss at best.
Renora started out perfectly in the show, but after 7 years of ship baiting, they lost me with their “payoff” in Vol 7. Jaune and Pyyrah remain the only couple with a clear vision and direction. Nothing felt forced or shoehorned in, cheesy at times, but better with that than anything else. And it didn’t drag us along for 7 years pretending to be something it wasn’t.
And while my biggest problem with Oscar is how often he goes through character development *offscreen,* he has remained to be one of the few characters in the show that has stayed consistent.
And to be honest, I personally find Ruby and Oscars interactions rather charming, even their last conversation where they were being awkward with each other. It’s way better than how it’s pathetically done with Blake and Yangs interactions on how this volume desperately claws at every opportunity for some kind of chemistry regardless of how cringe worthy it comes off as.
Keep in mind that they had more than one conversation in the show, I meant as in other than Vol 7. Oscar interacts with Ruby the most, they had a conversation with each other in Vol 5, and she was the only person that comforted Oscar while everyone else hated him in Vol 6. To say the ship is purely from one conversation is incorrect.
And I’m not saying that’s enough to make the ship overall believable, it still has a long way to go for it to feel genuine. And while it’s somewhat one sided, you can’t deny that there’s a solid set up for this dynamic and it’s hard not to see why some people are getting excited for this pairing. It feels like they’re building a legitimate friendship before growing into something more.
I’m just saying is that it has potential to be done really solid if they keeps this up. Sadly this is RWBY we’re talking about, a web series with normally amateurish writing taking itself too seriously these past few years so I’m not holding my breath for them to really pull this off. Only time will tell.
Kaiser Zer0 I just don’t see it with Ruby and Oscar. Sure he has interacted with her the most but it’s cus no one wants to interact with him, if we base a ship of most interaction Blake would be with sun, Ruby with Jaune or Weiss etc. He’s the meat suit, the farm boy, someone who is only there because he has someone actually useful inside him.
I also disagree with arkos being any good. Sure it seemed nice but the entire foundation for it that we saw was he did not know who she was so she made him her partner in initiation. Once again it felt like a one sided thing, that Pyrrha’s character boiled down to destiny and loving Jaune. We don’t even know if Jaune would have returned those feelings. yes he has been struggling with her death and they had that parting kiss but that kiss was more of a final thing Pyrrha wanted to do before going to most likely die. Jaune is likely sad that his partner, who he cared for, had feelings for him that he did not know about and did not return said feelings at that point cus it was so sudden, then she died becoming a permanent reminder of the girl that loved him who died.
Once again it could have been good, it could have worked, but it just didn’t in show with how little we are given. Nearly all ships in this show rely on the viewer coming up with their own headcanon on why it works.
Anyway back to rosegarden. I just don’t think it works cus Oscar is barely a character and they are trying to put him with the main character. The only times he shows character is when he sounds and acts like ozma, showing that they are bleeding into each other so the kid we have is not Oscar, it’s Oscar who acts like ozma and frankly I would just want ozma back at that point.
That's because RT has lost the capacity to be able to right friendships. Bros, BFFs, Brotherhoods, Sisterhoods. Everyone must be shipped with anyone.
Big shock, they dumpstered two characters' entire character development arc and narrative arcs(White Fang on Blake's side, Raven on the other) so they could slam Yang and Blake together like a pair of dolls, and what happens?
Both characters just wind up empty husks. Certainly not the first time they did that(Adam being dumpstered for Bumblebee), and considering how a character who had more lines than Ren or Nora got written out of the show for probably 4 seasons(Sun), it most certainly will not be the last time they throw a character's development potential or otherwise away.

So in regards to Volume 6 they did to Blake the EXACT same thing they did with Ozpin’s skin suit also known as Oscar, they skipped an essential part of her story and overall character, but act like as if it always happened and we just weren’t paying attention.
A problem I’ve noticed more so in Volume 7 then with Volume 6, is that the writers are more concerned in finding ways to keep the plot moving forward, while at the same time having their main characters fall behind in regards to their own developments and overall progress in the story, but act as if any new characteristics are earned due to the events that transpired but don’t show it.

Plot comes first no matter how much it might negatively effect the characters part in the story as a whole.

They're so hard pressed to have a plot-driven story(so we can focus on the plot!) that the pacing leaves *NO* time for characters to breathe.
We can't have character-driven moments anymore because they're hard-pressed to focus on plot instead, when it's the characters that help you care about the plot in the first place.

If they needed Blake to have something to do that wasn’t guarding the election, just have her stay at home reading a book, and if they REALLY wanted to shove some Bumblebee in there, they could’ve had a scene of Blake asking Yang if she’d like to read a book together, and there’s the excuse for why the two of them aren’t with Ruby, tah-daaaah!

Ever notice that in V7 as most scenes start with Blake and Yang, one or both must glance at each other for a second or two. Even though they may start talking to someone else? That's because RT knows the rabid shipping fandom literally analyze and savor every frame of video with Yang and Blake in it. Looking for more confirmation markers for the ship.
It's ridiculous. Like Blake and Yang are looking for each others approval before continuing on with what ever they are doing.

I recall some toxic shippers roasting me back in V6 on the idea of Yang lack concered for Ruby. Barely having 2 sentences with Ruby the entire volume.
"Yang has her own life. She her own person. Why should I expect Yang to still want to be concerned with Ruby's wellbeing? Do I expect her to always smoother Ruby with attention....." yada yada yada. Totally miss reading want I was trying to say about Yang not even talking to Ruby anymore.
Yet here we are. Yang and Blake can't be apart. Always on top of each other's concerns. No longer acting as individuals.

Alot of precious minutes in this volume where lost to BB fanservice. Episodes are to short to waste time on that and the volume already felt very rushed as it is.
The writers had a lot of potentially good story happen offscreen, while making sure to have BB get there space.

The thing is these people were never his friends. They were never fans of anime as a medium/genre (at least not Miles and Kerry) and only ever saw this series as a platform. The Glassdoor Reviews proves it from the clique culture of the workplace, the way they threw Vic under the bus for his being open about his faith and possibly being a closeted conservative, and even their Twitter feeds prove these people to be extremely toxic. The moment they fired Shane and put two monkeys behind the typewriter it was fair game for them to insert their agenda. They never cared about anything Monty did for this series. He may not have been an excellent storyteller but it was his vision to make this series about a sisterhood of heroes. These people aee it as a way to promote modern identity politics.
Ultimately this series is unsalvageable and its only gonna get worse. These people are able to get away with it and the viewers encourage them because they largely agree with their politics.
Can we just get to why Weiss is still the best? She's been my favorite character since the Weiss teaser.

At this point, the only characters I find relevant now are Ruby, Jaune, Oscar and Weiss. I'll cling to the idea that Ruby can still be saved since she *is* the protagonist. Jaune has more character depth than Blake and Yang combined and he actually has a motivation for adventuring with the gang. That's saying something because he isn't even part of the *actual* protagonists. Oscar has an arc ahead him regarding Ozpin and what not... and then there's Weiss. Sure she went through a lot of character development and I like that about her but I just don't like the fact that she keeps outshining the others now. I feel like the writers are just showcasing how much she's changed because they are getting positive feedback from her but at this rate it's just going to get satire. Other characters don't matter anymore since the story won't change regardless if they are present or not.

This is gonna be long, rambly, and not TOO FOCUSED, because a lot of my thoughts about Blake, Yang, Adam, Bumbleby, etc were ranted on in the past. But, I'm actually going to disagree with the vid's initial point: Adam honestly shouldn't have been killed off this early in. I think the biggest problem with Blake's character is how quickly they jumped from rock bottom to redemption. I wish Volume 6 actually ended in Blake having to choose between Yang's life and kliling Adam. And she chooses Yang's life and Adam gets to escape and even that doesn't QUITE get her and Yang back on good terms but merely gets Yang trying to recover from the betrayal of her best friend who she lost an arm for abandoning her at her moment of greatest need. Can you imagine waking up with your last memory being your friend being stabbed in the gut by her psycho terrorist ex (and yes they should've went all in with Blake being in a real romantic underage relationship with Adam) who then chopped your arm off and that friend NOT BEING AROUND ANYMORE. That must've been fucking terrifying and then after 3 volumes of trying so hard to get Blake to just LET THEM HELP she abandoned them all "for their safety" which while an understandable nad forgiveable rock bottom moment, never quite got focused on as much as it shuold have. Blake's biggest demon in Volume's 5 and 6 should never have been ADAM and should've instead been HERSELF. She should've been having to earn back the trust, love, and respect of her friends and her very re-emergence should've been a source of conflict among Team RWBY. Nora should've not cared because life is crazy. Ren shuold've been cold heartless truth that Blake did a bad thing. Ruby should've been Team Yang because blood is thicker than water. Oscar should've felt like such a misfit outcast with Ozpin teling him what happened and then acting as a bit of an outside perspective kind of epiphany moment. Yang should've HATED -- Pure white rage HATED -- Blake for leaving. And Weiss should've come around as the ironic piggy in the middle trying ot hold the team together. With the big fight at the end of V6 being Blake/Jaune/Nora, Ruby/Ren/Yang and Weiss/Oscar as central focuses. Precisely BECAUSE Blake has lost the trust and faith of Yang and Ruby and Ren. And it should've been a REAL STORYLINE. Instead Blake came back. All was pretty much forgiven with little overall drama between Team RWBY (sans maybe a few VERY EARLY scenes). And that's equal parts unrealistic and entirely bland for all characters involved. Then Adam should've came back into it at a later date maybe not even as part of The White Fang but just as a central figure, maybe even one who is now more concerned with ripping Yang away from Blake than he is ripping Blake away from RWBY.

Blake has always been my least favorite, but everything Marrow said, should've been Blake. Instead of sending Marrow to help guard Robyn, it should've been Blake. She could've been a bulwark against Robyn's crimes and irrational behavior. Robyn: "We're trying to make a more equal society for everyone."
Blake: "I know what that's like more than anyone. I've spent my whole life fighting for it. But trust me when I say we need trust more than anything. We're here to help." Or something like that. As lame as Blake's character development has been, she's developed into a strong defender of the Faunus without being an extremist. She should stand behind that while other characters get their time to develop. I suppose it's another issue of too many characters. But even if the writer's introduce new characters, they shouldn't be afraid to leave them shallow. They're background characters. Sure, develop Clover if you need to for Qrow's character, but we don't need to know what the Ace Ops really thinks. They take away time and development from characters we do care about. Characters that should show their personality and be who we know them to be. My problem is that in Volume 1-3, I knew who team RWBY was and how'd they each handle certain situations. Now I feel like I don't really know them at all or what they're going to do.
The problem with Blake and Yang is simply WTF was all that build up with Sun just to magically ship them her with yang with no build up to it.

On the first topic you brought out on how Blake's fire ran out all of a sudden, I think it comes with the event from Vol3 followed by the event in vol5, since she had become more fragile and more "afraid/timid/calm". We can suppose these moments greatly changed how she would behave in the future volumes (6 and 7). Still, That make her pretty inexistant in the lore. Beside that, bro you are killing every time with your editing and jokes: "Unfortunaly for Blake, like Yang, she's nothing more than one half of a ship. She's pretty much on the same boat!" XD XD you didn't have to do them like that.

Tbh bumbleebee ruined lots of storylines. Just to name a few blacksun, adam taurus story, yang ptsd, yang & rwby sisterhood. It also ruined potential chracter development like ruby, yang, adam, blake, and sun. Its why I hate bumblebee so much was sacrificed for what? A gay relationship with depth? I would've been fine if the relationship itself was good, but its mediocre at best, and trite forced woke pandering at worst.

Exactly. A good character wasted because RT gave into the demands of their fans which was THE WORST CHOICE EVER. Yang and Blake should be purely Platonic and Blake should be in Sun’s arms not being written so out of character that we forget the fact that she’s the female stoic counter part of Ren for RWBY and they clearly couldn’t write that and leave that in.
