You can see a lot more warping in the video with the max lens mod. For example, look at the yellow lines as they come into view at 3:23 - you can clearly see the warping.

Unfortunately Max lens mod 2 is not optimised for HERO11. However might be cool to try it out & post it on IG. 🧐
the H11 even with the 2.0 is limited to 2.7K as the software in the 12 is different.

Great demo. Not sure if it's a settings thing, but there seems to be a lot more fish eye distortion that comes with the wider view of the Hero 12/MLM2.0 over the Hero 11. Can you get a straight horizon if you go for a setting that isn't so wide? If you can, is it any wider than the widest view of the Hero 12 without the Max Lens Mod 2.0?
Hey chris! Thanks for the question! the settings are the same! the main difference is that Hardware that was used - in this instance Max Lens Mod 2.0, with that you can get up 177° field of view.
That said with the Lens Tool in the Quik app, or FX reframe in premiere pro or final cut pro to remove the distortion!
Can you get Max Superview with 360 Horizontal Lock in 4K 4:3 at both 30 & 60fps? What camera angle are you using in this comparison for the 12? Amazing energy! You got me hyped to purchase
Thanks! Yes! You’ll have Max SuperView with horizon lock in 4k 4:3! For the 12 (b-cam, POV) I was shooting in 4k HyperView.
Recommended focus lenses that you can use with your GoPro 12.
Those product shots were shot using a Macro Lens for GoPro! You can probably search it up (GoPro Macro Lens) on Amazon/Shopee/Lazada!

what do I think about the Max Lens 2.0? Nice to have 4k60fps with horizon lock on the hero 12 black, but I believe there is no hardware limitation, but rather a software one to make it compatible with the hero 11 black at least, since it has the same sensor as the hero 12 black. it would make commercial sense for those that own the 11 black with GPS to have this option, and thus sell many more Max Lens Mods 2.0.

Amazing video, however I want to ask, will it have 8:7 aspect ratio and HDR under 4K/60fps when gopro 12 mounted with max lens mod 2.0?
Unfortunately with Max Lens Mode enabled, there will not be HDR. That said, 4K 4:3 + Max SuperView is much larger than 4k 8:7 wide!
I can attest that there is no HDR on any resolution of Max Lens Mod 2.0 on hero 12 black, and also you are stuck with a single profile still. don't know why. it does not make sense to me. if at least the Max Lens Mod 2.0 had HDR, it would have been much better.
@Adventure of Ron Hi can you record also in HDR or LOG profile while using this Max Lens Mod?
Unfortunately in Max Lens Mode, you will not be able to record in HDR or GP-Log
@@AdventuresofRon Thank you for the fast respose, hearing this out is a turn off for me on getting one of this Max Lens Mod and i thought we can use the HDR and LOG Profile even we use one of this lenses but i hope in the future they can give us a software update so we can use those profile.

for starters I'd say the 3-way grip is perfect! it's not only a hand grip it also doubles up as a tripod

Still so torn between DJI action 4 and GoPro Hero 12. I have just had too much overheating issues with GoPro line up of cameras. I feel like I would be foolish to go back. I’ve been filming with iPhones for a while due to GoPro overheating. I can’t afford to miss shots.
well it really depends what you intend to capture. for my use-case I havent really experience much overheating issues - because i tend to capture my shots short & purposeful. I dont typically record long continuous recordings as it's just tedious to review long footage

i just found out that HDR mode is not available in Max Lense Mod 2.0 so sad.
yeah, unfortunately HDR is not available in Max Lens Mode. but if you want that 'punchy, vibrant' look, you can try and toggle color to "vibrant"

I have a Hero 9 and was tempted to save the money and go with lens mod 1.0. Is there much difference between hero 12 and the hero 9 with lens mods? Or should I just sell my kidney and go for the 12 with the lens mod?
well the biggest upgrade with Max Lens Mod 2.0 is that you can now capture in 4K60 at 177° field of view! that is super immersive! perfect if you're intending to capture any POV content!

Yes. max is 4K. cant do 5k with the 2.0 mod
You are correct. In Max Lens Mode, you can capture up to 4K4:3. That said, being able to capture in 4k (as compared to its predecessor in 2.7k) is a massive step up!

@@ark66 you might not be fully informed then. There are significant upgrades made to the camera beyond battery performance. Don’t take my word for it- check out the other reviews on TH-cam 😉
At $399 price point H12 is definitely a worthwhile investment

Max lens gets way too much water spots
depending on the watersport you're doing, a good tip to get rid of those water droplets is to give the camera a shake (if possible), or blow against the camera lens.
