    Review these after you shoot an animal with them. I am super curious about going from regular rips to these for my hunting and target set up. Great video!

    I used the XVs this past season. They’re definitely “brittle” compared to the axis 5mm I used previously. I’m happy with them though; clean pass-through on 4 whitetails this season 👍🏽

      Same here. Total arrow weight for me was 486 and pass thoughts on 2 my whitetails. I’m coming down to 425 this year.

    I have been looking to build a light arrow build to maximize the speed for longer range shooting. Will be interested in a follow up video for how well these arrows hold up in Tac and general shooting. Hard to beat the durability of the RIP TKOs.
    Appreciate the content! Keep it up.

    Thanks much for the video and information, I ordered MFJJ .204 30 grain titanium halfouts and collars today to go on RIP XV’s. Now I have to order green lighted Ignitor nocks by New Fletch Archery, I’ve been using those nocks for years on my Black Eagle Spartans, I Don’t see much online about them but they have worked flawlessly for me and some of the best lighted nocks made IMHO! Thanks Again for all of your hard work! God Bless!

    Thanks for posting the rip xv with the titanium insert and collar. I've been debating about trying them out. Currently using the 50 grain Victory shok tl. I'm surprised that at almost 80#, you're not getting more speed with a 408 grain. I shoot a 372 grain arrow out of my 70# 29" draw Darton 3900 and am getting 342fps.

    300spine 370gr rip XV w/qad exodus 35yrd shot on 200# dressed buck. Thru ribs on both sides and 15" into the ground on the other side with bohning heat 4 fletch. Chronograph I had access to was 317fps out of my omnia at 28.75" draw @71#. I have no issue using rip XV for whitetail with my bow making good shots. The GPI makes the rip xv lack the durability the rip tko has so I wouldn't trust the rip XV hitting a shoulder and I didn't try the rip XV with mechanicals. Idk if I'd trust a rip XV with a mechanical head and a slower bow at this point in my life. Modern bows have much greater efficiency than bows of years past and I shot thousands of the 370gr arrows out of my Elite Omnia and had zero issues with the bow itself but I cant speak for other manufacturers. I took advantage of the tighter pin gap the rip XV offered me because it gave me more forgiveness on yardage estimations. I range objects around my stands every time I climb into them but with my heartrate up in the middle of a shot things happen so I felt it to be better to have a light fast arrow with this bow. I'm not sold on the 600gr arrows from my research as the Ashby papers are old and relate to bows that were much less efficient than modern bows.

    Nice. Very nice. I've just built almost the same arrow. I'm running three fletch (AAE hybrids so a bit lighter on the back) and the same Podium titanium insert/collar. Plus 150g head. I'm a shorter draw so I'm at about the same weight (415g) with a heavier head so more FOC (22.4%) which is great. My bow is PSE Xpedite 83lbs and I'm getting a speed of 295 fps. Great for long range fun and 3D.

    Where did you hear that more FOC keeps the back end from steering? Honest question. Whoever passed that info onto you wasn’t helping you out. More FOC allows the back end of the arrow to steer more efficiently. It’s makes the lever arm that the fletchings use to steer/correct the arrow longer. All other things equal, an arrow with more FOC will be more stable in flight and penetrate further than an arrow with less FOC.

      It’s the difference between front and rear wheel drive.

    • @Chadb11
      @Chadb11 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Your_mom736I don’t quite know what you mean. It’s just factually correct that more FOC makes an arrow more stable in flight. There are plenty of resources discussing this. TH-cam search “rockets, missiles, arrows and bowhunting” as a start

    • @southdakotasaved126
      @southdakotasaved126 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Chadb11 I think I understand what @Your_mom is saying, he is agreeing with you, I’m old enough to remember rear wheel drive vehicles, more weight up front is like a front wheel drive vehicle on snow, it goes forward much easier and straighter then a rear wheel drive vehicle that just spins out and the rear end is all over the place and unstable, I never thought about it but actually I like that analogy!

    • @redbeard_outdoors
      @redbeard_outdoors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Essentially it gets better arrow flight. But there is a tipping point too where too much can cause issues as well

    • @Chadb11
      @Chadb11 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@redbeard_outdoors I’ve never heard of any issues associated with higher FOC. Total arrow weight (a result of higher FOC, all else equal) can cause slower arrow flight at launch, but that doesn’t mean poorer flight characteristics. Higher FOC can cause issues with an arrow being underspined if the shaft is not correctly spined for the weight up front. But that isn’t the result of FOC, it’s the result of incorrect spine selection. Where have you heard that ultra-high FOC begins to cause issues itself?
