      @@onelogue I see, and I take it that you already have the sissybar/backrest. Dang. I really feel like going for an XDiavel, can't get over how much I like it, but I always have second and third thoughts about how my passenger would feel on it. My girlfriend used to love my '13 Ninja 650, then I got the Monster 796 and she sure as hell commented how the Ninja was better for her. Not the seat though, Monster's seat is plushy, but the heat and body position bothered her... so I'm sure as hell she won't like the XDiavel :(

    I drove the Diavel S and it´s a beast. Loving the typical sound and willingness you wouldn´t expect from this kind of bike. Even after all the vids and articles you read, it´s only when you drive it you really appreciate this unique bike.
    On an optical sense, I liked the XDiavel even more and the belt is a bonus considering maintenance and cleaning.... There is still more then enough torque and power available, only the placement of the footpegs weren´t my thing. Good that you mentioned Ducati has a kit for that because that I did not know.
    So even for people who know a thing ot two about the Diavel, an interesting vid! Thx for that

      The best way to describe riding it is like wearing your favorite pair of shoes or holding your favorite bat or walking your most trained and loyal dog.
      At 160 mph leaned all the way over on a high speed sweeper on 294 it was planted like a tree.
      A feel of a Ferrari with two wheels and pure comfort. Pure joy...then when the bike feels a straight coming it melts and pushes your ass like a Bully.

Added all the Ducabike accessories, Termignoni exhaust, smoked windscreen, xring chain, black sprocket, etc. It's an amazing bike, power, sound, handling, comfort, style, electronics. I had an x diavel. Had to sell it
    before my back gave out. It’s not made for rough roads. The rear suspension has very little travel and the bumps go directly up your spine. I loved it in every other way but I couldn’t handle the spine jarring any more. I have a diavel which is better for me. Mid controls may help on the xdiavel otherwise stay on the best roads you can

    • @jones3892
      @jones3892 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apart from the suspension, how would you compare the comfort of the 1260 vs the X for longer rides (seat, & knees)? I''m considering the X with Ohlins but wonder how much improved it would be. I'm hoping to avoid back issues myself. Ride safe.

    • @dinogiuliani3821
      @dinogiuliani3821 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The diavel is quite comfortable for the style of bike it is. I have a touring seat and the stock seat. The touring seat is a bit better and 2 hours riding is about my limit before I need to stretch my legs. The X is more comfortable if the road was racetrack smooth but the first bump you hit will make you want to get off and wonder why Ducati make it so harsh. Ohlins may make it better however the geometry of the bike will make the impact crunch your spine.
      I would suggest mid pegs so your legs support you over the bumps. I was going to get these but $1500AUD was more than I wanted to spend on a bike I didn’t ride much!!
      Hope this helps

    I looked at both and went with the XDiavel, the Diavel felt too much like my Rocket and I wanted something different. He's right about the pillion seat. I personally got rid of it and the passenger pegs too. She just for me :-) If I need to take a pillion then I use my Triumph Rocket 111. Loads of room for passenger and luggage. Love both of my bikes for different reasons.
    By the way it's good to see someone that understands the difference between a mussel bike and a cruiser! Most Americans don't get this. I even had an American telling me that the Suzuki GSX1400, Yamaha XJS1300, Honda CB1300 and the V-Max 1200 were all cruisers, even though he had never even ridden any and I have own all of them in the past! I even consider my Rocket to be a mussel bike, which I understand most people don't but just look at the riding position and the feeling when you get on one. Cruisers and mussel bikes are totally different.

I changed mine front and back, now she glides around corner like she's on rails and soaks up the bumps in the road that used to jar my back teeth. But this was very expensive!
      Being a twin it's not so smooth but most twin are like this. If it's smoothness you are after I would go for a Honda Valkyrie. Those 6 cylinders give you the smoothest ride I have ever had and got a lot of punch too! Not as much as the Ducati but plenty.

    • @papatruss
      @papatruss 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Looking at the bike I would have to say no. Where would it go, it's all belly pan forward of the pegs. On the X there are places to attach them under you. I had the same dilemma, I too preferred the Diavel's looks over the X but had to go the the X for the simple reason that at my age my knees just don't bend the way they used too. I've had my Ducati for nearly a year now and love it. One word of warning they are very highly strung. So far the clutch slave has had to be changed and the Ducati alarm they fitted messed up my electrics, which in turn drained my battery over night. Also if you want to do anything on it it is so fiddly and awkward. You need specialised tools and everything is very expensive.
      Have you tried the Triumph Rocket 3 GT? I also have one of them and the riding position is very similar to the XDiavel. You can't throw it around as much and it isn't as fast but the low down torque is amazing! Pulls like a freight train from low revs all the way though to the red line with ease, I bet you could tow a caravan with one.
      I find if I just want to go out and have some fun then the Ducati is best but for a more comfortable ride it's the Triumph, you hardly have to change gears on the Rocket whilst your constantly trying to find the right gear on the Ducati.
      Love both for different reasons.
      edit: and I also had problems with my back break going all spongy on the Ducati. They needed bleeding a few times. I have had the Triumph for over a year and so far she has cause me no trouble at all. The Triumph is much more solid and reliable, whilst the Ducati is like a race horse that needs so much more attention.

    I have the Xdiavel standard with termis and live the belt drive and economy circa 55mpg alongside the massive power delivery.
    I wasn’t aware around the engine retarding the cams relative to the riding so that must be why it rides so well in different situations for static and speed and then rapid opening up whilst still providing awesome mpg even with a size 8 pillion (upgraded from a size 6). It’s workable even with the comfort seat and rear set pegs.
    Fitting forward bars and the taller seat shortly and the taller seat helps with pillion head knock (I’m 6ft 4 and pillion 5ft 6).
    I replaced the older Diavel with an X and the ride is improved but haven’t tried the new Diavel with the L Twin as I’m sure it would improved feel and fuel economy as it was poor previously and doubled when I switched to the L Twin. Just think the new one should also be belt drive as it’s one less thing to worry about.

    Is this too fast for a first bike? I really want the xdiavel but didnt like the foot peg, nice to know you can have the same foot pegs as the 1260. Was thinking of the 1260 but now might stick with the xdiavel

      This as a first bike is going to get you into trouble or into the grave. The power and acceleration is insane. 0-100km/h in 2.6s

    Awesome video. 2 Questions:
    - Can you upgrade the Diavel S with front footpegs and a lower seat height?
    - Can you upgrade the Diavel S from Chain to Belt-drive?
    for me the Diavel looks much more attractive compared to the xdiavel (apart from the tail section) - though I am a typical cruiser rider (front footpegs) in the market for getting into the "powercruiser" categroy
    thx a lot

    Good video. After quite some miles on a Diavel on twisty roads in the mountains I can tell. The non X Diavel can give most naked bikes and supersports a run for their money ... just be sure to have spare foodpegs and controls :-)

    I own the Xdiavel s, which I absolutely love but it has some serious issues which makes it expensive to own. My latest issue on my 2016 is the drive pulley getting loose because of which the belt is slipping and the dealer is forced to also replace the belt so all the benefits of the belt drive tossed out of the window. Wish these basic things were covered by Ducati
