Luke, you sound like an ideal dad, husband and son. Your family must be very happy to have you. And thank you for the episode with lots of useful vocabulary and an interesting story.
Super man, I've been listening to your podcasts for over 4 months on different social media platforms from Usbekistan. It really helped me leap from pre-intermediate level to intermediate level. Make more interviews with friends in person and rumbling episodes. May the Lord bless you.
Thanks, Luke, for sharing your child minding with me. That reminds me of how exhausted my parents must have been when they were looking after their children.
It is very sweet of you to take your children to London on your own and it is very kind of you to share part of your premium episodes with anyone. I didn't understand what you said about people not listening to your episodes. I have learnt two words: meltdown and gravelly (voice). Also, I had never heard "head cold". You continue to be brilliant and fun. Another home made remedy for sore throats is ginger. You can add it to your tea with lemon and honey. Some people add whisky to their tea. And, of course, the chemist offers many sorts of medicine. I usually have to take antiallergic medicine. The nose and throat specialist usually prescribes me Allegra. But I should change it for a new medicine because I have got too used to it. I hope you feel much better soon. Thank you, Luke.
Luke, your short stories are amazing, especially the horror ones with your great performances- those are the best. I use them to practice in whatever spare time I have, to expand my vocabulary as long as my pronunciation. Shout-out to you mate! I hope you keep going with it and that many more stories are yet to come. Greetings from Cuba!
MY PLEASURE LISTENING TO YOU. I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING BUT I ENVY YOU BECAUSE I CANT TALK SO QUICKLY AND PERFECT AS YOU THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NATIVE AND THE OTHERS. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EXIST. HAVE A GREAT WEEK
Amazing podcast, Luke, it is really very informative and interesting, please keep it up. Thanks for such a wonderful job, trust me to educate others are the best and biggest charity in this world. God bless you and your family.
Hi Luke! I think episodes like this are very useful to understand the benefits of switching to the premium account. Even though I've been listening to you for a while, I personally didn't understand them, I thought that with the premium you simply had more episodes exactly like the others available to anyone. I have now switched to the premium account, which is not expensive at all. Free episodes help a lot with listening and understanding, whilst for speaking I want to know how English sounds are actually produced and how to connect words in sentences, in addition of course to understanding grammar and expanding vocabulary. Teaching these things in the premium episodes, you absolutely do a great job. 👍
Oh, Luke! You look shattered a little bit. Take care of your health and especially voice❤ We love everything you do😊. Keep rambling and pouring into our brain useful knowledge. 😂 I love your voice without listenning it can't now fall asleep😂.
❤loved a lot the quizzes. In one of them I have a fancy answer: a vacation can be a good remedy for most modern psicosomatic illnesses 🎉 take care and carry on
When a cold strikes with fever-say, rising to around 38 degrees-I don’t rush to quell it. Instead, I sit with it, letting the heat course through me, seeing it as a kind of inner fire that opens a passage beyond ordinary perception. The fever becomes an ally, melting the boundaries of the everyday world and inviting me to fully immerse in the realms beyond. In this heightened state, I look for visions, allowing myself to be receptive to the messages from other realms-insights, symbols, even voices that speak from within and beyond. It’s a journey inward, where I seek the wisdom in the fever’s intensity, embracing it as a bridge to the unseen. "Anpétu Wí oyáte, kíčhiyA yeló"
Hello Luke, your podcasts appeal to me 😊 thank you for sharing your travel experience with us. I am from Kazakhstan. If you travel with your children in our country you will face a lot of trouble ((( first the territory of our country is 7 times bigger than France, to get from city to another will take you a lot of time, distance can extend from 300 km to 2000 km. plus our awful roads and trains(((
Hi Luke , The way you do podcast is just amazing . Enjoying all bits and points . Don't we have opportunities meet people in Paris ... ?????????? That would be great for us who live in France , you know!!
Your ramblings on travelling with kids triggered the memories about the book I read years ago: Kiddie-car travel by Robert Charles Benchley😂 Thanks, Luke❤
Hello Luke, maybe you catched the cold from your children. Often the children get a cold and parents get it too as well. Hope you are fine again soon. Thank you for this episode. 😊 Best wishes from Germany.
Luke knows better, but here's my two cents: probably you're referring to a deep voice. I think Luke has the perfect combination between a soft and deep voice, he knows how to modulate it, when to go high and when to go low...
Dear Luke, with all my due respect, may I ask in case I can understand 90% or a little bit more of your speaking, what could be the level? Thanks for answering!
hi luke, when i feel a cold coming on i make a tea with honey and lemon. and i add some rum in it. you may feel a bit tipsy, but that's ok😄 i drik this medicine even if i'm fine. you know. just in case😄
luke, hello. Somehow i really caught a cold in this episode , in this morning i woke up kind of bad, exactly after i have watched this episode in the last night 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, At least it served to me fix the vocabulary in my mind 🤣🤣. oh my god 🤧🤧🤧🤣. I am gonna buy some remedy, it is not so serious! lol
No, a breakdown (or nervous breakdown, mental breakdown) is more extreme and serious and refers to a period of extreme stress which causes a person’s mind to ‘break’ and they can’t function normally, requiring recovery time. A meltdown or tantrum is a temporary thing when someone gets very angry or upset, like an actor on a movie set shouting at someone, or a tennis player losing their temper and arguing with the referee, or a small child crying and rolling on the floor in the supermarket.
Both pronunciations of the word are normal in both BrE and AmE. There are two ways to pronounce the word. Sometimes we pronounce it one way, sometimes the other way. It makes no difference. www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/either_1?q=Either
Interesting observation about viruses. Why don't they help us learn English))) But some viruses can be used to kill cancer cells or in gene therapy. The coolest are those that infect and kill bacteria. It's a very interesting area of research.
hello sir , how are you doing i hope you're great . I am 18 years old and i am originally arabic , i want to ask about how to really make a progress in my language especially that i want to get my ielts soon

I love your voice. What s the correct adjective to describe a fine voice?
It depends on what you like about the voice. What aspect of it do you like?
Same here😊
@@LukesEnglishPodcast the male baritone sound (I don t know if I m right...do you have a baritone voice? )

What do you usually do if your son has a meltdown? How do you manage to deal with it?
No wonder Charles Dickens courted her ladyship Miss Nelly Ternan

Not easy as the parents! 😂
Can we use 'breakdown' instead of a meltdown and is there a difference in this context?
No, a breakdown (or nervous breakdown, mental breakdown) is more extreme and serious and refers to a period of extreme stress which causes a person’s mind to ‘break’ and they can’t function normally, requiring recovery time.
A meltdown or tantrum is a temporary thing when someone gets very angry or upset, like an actor on a movie set shouting at someone, or a tennis player losing their temper and arguing with the referee, or a small child crying and rolling on the floor in the supermarket.
Luke, hi, i wonder what's the correct british pronounciation of the the word "either"? Because you said [i:ther], and i thought its american
