Kudos to you for actually having the gall to be honest about the problems with this figure. I’ve watched so many reviews of this guy and you’re the first to not give in to the hype goggles.
schwiggity Personally think it looks perfectly fine. Kind of has that picnic blanket look but in person I think it looks better. If I’m not getting right in the figure’s face I barely notice it, the way Batman is posed right now the cape is splayed out, showing every nook and cranny, and from where I am it looks great.
My heart goes out to you bro, your figure came out with a bad paint job and for that price it shouldn't have...what kind of batman figure do you want, you left the audience hanging.
Doc Louis I like mafex but the cost is just too extremely high to have these type of QC issues. Like where is the money going? I know it’s around $70 in Japan but still it’s not a good enough excuse. I hope they figure it out soon.
The cape is ginormous and there is not getting away from that. But I personally love the look because this is one of the few 1/12 batman figures where I can do the cape spead (gliding) pose. Mine also came with the wire on the left side of the cape detached from the collar piece. I recommend pulling off the collar piece, poking a hole in the cape where the cape connects to the collar piece and pull the top of that wire through. After you pull off the collar piece, you will see 2 holes, one on each side of where his collar bone would be. Feed the wire into the hole and bend it so that the tip is flush against the inside of his chest. Put a dab of epoxy onto the tip of the wire so that it sticks to the inside of his chest. After this modification, glue the collar piece back on and the wire will hold no problem.
Suggestion from a long-time viewer: Let us know if you plan on keeping this figure or not. I know you have an extensive collection and you sell the figures you don't want, but we don't usually get to see which figure goes where. So, at the end, is it a keeper?
@@AnthonysCustoms that makes sense from that perspective. Never considered it to be a financial decision, but once the selling is involved, I can see that. I guess it could be presented without the selling aspect.
Just got mines; it's a damn near perfect action figure. They don't get enough credit for how well the joints blend in considering the amount of articulation, and honestly I struggle to find any lack of articulation overall. My only gripe is his size; there's no good reason why a character named slim (Cyclops) would be bigger than Batman. IMHO they should've swapped bodies with the MAFEX Cyclops and both would've been the perfect size.
Great review as usual, Anthony. I think a lot of the objective flaws you point out would be much more excusable if most figures (both imports & american ones) weren't overpriced. This is, in my opinion, an AMAZING 60$ dollar Batman figure that turns into "pretty damn good!" when you inflate the price to what it actually is. But yeah, licenses and new molds for every character do come at a cost I guess. That does not excuse the flaws, but I take everything into consideration. If there was an easy way to take out the cape and customize it, that would be great. All in all, I think it's a solid release and my favorite Batman in this scale. I hope the rest of the JL turns out this good and they avoid pulling a Wolverine on us.
This *is* a $64 figure, if you live in Japan. But, add shipping and/or import site costs, and you get $90-$100. I’d love if Bluefin would partner w Mafex like they have Tamashi, so we could get more reasonable prices.

My wired cape isn't connected on the _other_ side. It is also short? Like, the wire doesn't reach all the way to the bottom of the cape. Now the end of the cape just curls up no matter what I try to do. Not that big of a deal, but still annoying. This is still my favorite batman figure
I love that DKR Batman! Also, the mafex Shazam and aquaman have pretty good proportions, they’ve been stepping up their proportions and articulation. I personally don’t like the blue one as much as the black so I’m getting that one rather than the blue one (applies to hush and DKR).

Anthony I wouldn’t be surprised if your figure was squeaking too much around the joints too much because it was too hot in your room. The excess heat is probably causing the plastic to expand and creak a little bit. I’ve had mine for about a week now and it did creak at first, but I’ve lowered the temp in my room to a pleasant 72 degrees and the joints are fine now after about 5 days now in a cooler environment.
I think McFarlane can nail this and it will only cost $20. Yeah it wouldn't come with that awesome cape or all those hands, but that Mafex kinda looks like a smaller McFarlane. I myself think that McFarlane figures will improve and I like the scale, goes well with my Neca Aliens and Predators.
I really want this figure but, this figure has surprisingly a lot of concerns to be put in consideration. CONS- Joints are too tight so it may break depending on how you're handling it. I suggest carefully posing it a lot to loosen the tightness Mafex's Batman has Dick grayson's body type, he's usually drawn way bulkier than the way Mafex portrays him here. Colors are muted compared to the photos they've shown us Paints are inconsistent (This is a general con towards Mafex's paints on their figures) Cape is not removable (More options, more play-ability) Cape is WAY too big (Subjectively speaking) Cape doesn't looks too flattering compared to the figure (This especially applies if your figure is painted perfectly) Cape should've been leather instead of fabric, also the fabric itself looks cheap.
As Anthony mentioned, the belt looks more yellow on camera. When I take pictures of the belt it is much more yellowy-orange than in person. It is very strange, and sort of annoying for me since I liked the comic accurate light yellow. Still this is my favorite batman figure.
whitezombified My only issue with them is the constant blatant deception they do before releasing their figures. Their promos of their figures looks better than what we get in hand.
@@DJKrossphireDaChoppahKid yes. If they just showed the figure we got, everything would've been fine. People who didnt like the cape stitching could've cancelled their preorders, and people who didnt like the colors and paint could've done the same. So many companies blatantly and obviously change how figures look in promo images and it really bugs me. i.e. Mafex (obviously), Mezco John Wick, Neca Michael Myers, just to name a few.
I don't have mine as yet but the size of that cape bothers me. Paint is disappointing but very possable and striking looking figure. I'm still happy to be getting it and enjoyed your review.
Hey Anthony, I think that the black version will have a much shorter cape, I know that the pictures could be misleading, but I think mafex will take the criticism well and change it.
It might but that version comes with the gargoyle that needs the longer cape so making the cape on that one shorter wouldn't be a perfect solution either
Considering the pricepoint, I think the flaws should weigh the figure down more. Not that it matters that much in the overall scheme of things. There will always be a new and better Batman figure coming out somewhere down the line and if you like batman and action figures, there is no way you would pass this up.
Hi Anthony, what do you think about Storm Collectibles Darkseid from the game Injustice? Any recommended figure for 1:12 Superman? I plan to collect the DC superheroes after I got S. H. Figuarts The Dark Knight (I think Bale's better than Affleck😁).
Hey so I'm kinda new to figure collecting mostly get marvel legends in pairs of movie and comic versions, but at heart I'm a DC guy and I'm super disappointed in what I'm hearing about these mafex hush figures since based on the early pictures I almost spent the 200+ for both supes and bats. But I was wondering gun to your head what you thought the best Superman and Batman figures would be too get together just to have my two favorites at all. Should I search eBay for the dcuc's or wait for the stars to align for us to finally get good DC figures because I'm definitely never paying for that McFarlane garbage.
I’m supposed you didn’t have an issue with the proportions. While they are all in proportion with themselves they are not at all in proportion with Jim Lee’s art. He should be about 10% more muscular, similar to how the images of the mafex hush Superman looks. These proportions look more like how Jim Lee was drawing Batman for the new 52. Even then he’s still too small. And duh this is all my opinion. If you disagree I don’t care.( lol I watched the rest of the review and you showed the exact image I was thinking of when convincing myself that he is not big enough.)
Been waiting for this review, Great review 100% agree about the cape. Found out the black version comes with rooftop stand, I prefer these colors, still a Batman with articulated cape nice.
Been thinking about getting a nice, more or less definitive Batman figure. I was considering getting the black variant of this figure when it comes out, or maybe one of the new McFarlane ones but with a custom cape. What do you think is the best one out right now?
Nice review! Pretty cool Batman figure, but the cape kind of kills for me. It's not the size so much as the way it bunches up around his shoulders. That and the material makes it look like he's wearing a tablecloth. Also, I believe the fist hands with the slots in them are for holding the indvidual batarangs (not the cape).
Just curious. Did you ever get the Superman Hush, Anthony? Wanna know your thoughts on it. I believe there's been some restocks going on in case you missed out.
I ordered the Black/Grey version last week and it just arrived today while I'm at work! The huge cape on Blue/Gray version was a deal breaker for me. Batman isn't Spawn.
I'm completely confused , you say cyclops have weird anatomy , but this corona guy (batman) share most same body sculpt with cyclops and look good to you. So it is weird proportion or not?
The connection of the cape effing sucks. Mine came broken out of the package, got a replacement and it broke off again after like 5 mins of handling the figure. Absolute trash.
I know I'm in the minority but I personally believe these high price figures from Mafex, Mezco, SH Figuarts etc... are total rip-offs. $100+/- for an action figure is completely out of the question especially when QC issues and execution are this poor. I'm a marvel Collector and the Marvel Legends figures satisfy me just fine, and when I compare the Mafex Wolverine to the ML version for example, the Mafex Wolvey is like 5 times the price of the ML and then it's only "Kinda" better. So for those reasons I don't bother collecting figures like these, if you like them that's great but for these prices these figures should be out of this world, and they are not. Love your reviews Anthony.
Hot Toys have QC issues as well. No company is perfect. Just like Marvel Legends will have great figures, they will also have sub par releases. Have you owned any imports or Mezco figures? If you have you win, I just feel takes like these are biased.
@@Zapdos97 Yeah Hot Toys have their issues and so do all companies. But at least when it comes to a Hot Toy, I'm buying it for display purposes and not so much for crazy posing and the Hot Toys serve their purpose well. I've owned a few Mezco and Figuarts, and they're nice, but not worth the price I paid. And my issue with them is not so much on QC issues, but its rather that the figure is just slightly better than a retail release like ML if at all, but then are so much more expensive. And yes my comment is completely biased lol as it's just my opinion hence using words like "personally"
I haven't received mine yet but it looks like Medicom doesn't know the basics in painting shadows and highlight are done. Ps. I mean, how hard could that be, you're just gowing to follow the crevices with the airbrush.
@@ultimateslinger9857 Well it does bother me, in fact I find it insulting because they kept pushing back its release, and didn't even use the time to perfect the painting. The shading looked more like a discoloration over time than actual shading
+Anthonys Custom what I'm waiting is the spiderman multiverse series like little miles, it get clothing, that should up the game for mafex also the photos from exhibition looks really nice

bro ive gad that same squeking noise out of some mafex figures and it usually happens after alot of possing then when I stop using them they go back to normal.
I used to shit on AC. I still think he’s a little harsh more times than not, but fanboys need to hear it sometimes. Mafex fans constantly have to justify their purchases. If the figures were really consistently that good there would be no reason for them to be so offended by a reviewers opinion. That being said, this figure does look dope and I have one on the way.
Mafex really needs to improve on their toe hinges. They're practically useless on most of the figures i have. I almost never need a stand with Figuarts and their hinges.

Colors are muted compared to the photos they've shown us
Paints are inconsistent (This is a general con towards Mafex's paints on their figures)
Cape is not removable (More options, more play-ability)
Cape is WAY too big (Subjectively speaking)
Cape doesn't looks too flattering compared to the figure (This especially applies if your figure is painted perfectly)
Cape should've been leather instead of fabric, also the fabric itself looks cheap.
As Anthony mentioned, the belt looks more yellow on camera. When I take pictures of the belt it is much more yellowy-orange than in person. It is very strange, and sort of annoying for me since I liked the comic accurate light yellow.
Still this is my favorite batman figure.
After their Wolverine I stopped trusting this company and cancelled my pre-orders, thankfully so 🙏
whitezombified My only issue with them is the constant blatant deception they do before releasing their figures.
I personally liked his cape. Not too keen on his colors and the chest problems, though.
Check my dc reviews playlist. Or the Batman playlist for him specifically
Any chance you would do a review of the new storm collectables raiden and new scorpion in the near future??
Yes
Been waiting for this review, Great review 100% agree about the cape. Found out the black version comes with rooftop stand, I prefer these colors, still a Batman with articulated cape nice.
Been thinking about getting a nice, more or less definitive Batman figure. I was considering getting the black variant of this figure when it comes out, or maybe one of the new McFarlane ones but with a custom cape. What do you think is the best one out right now?
Imo the best option is to wait
@@AnthonysCustoms yeah, figured I’d probably just wait until figures of the Battinson design start coming out
Once again Anthony, you've saved me $100. Gonna get the black version. Plus it comes with a rooftop base!
Nice review! Pretty cool Batman figure, but the cape kind of kills for me. It's not the size so much as the way it bunches up around his shoulders. That and the material makes it look like he's wearing a tablecloth. Also, I believe the fist hands with the slots in them are for holding the indvidual batarangs (not the cape).
he seems to look as tall as previous mafex batmans like the dark knight and justice league one. is that a proper comparison?
Yes, it is basically the same size as the mafex justice league batman.
their movie lines have none of these problems for some reasons
figures so good the cape flows on its own and requires no posing 😳
Hold up, 70 USD? What?
For a slightly dwarfed figure that is "okay"?
I've never bought a Mafex figure but apparently that is not about to start.
Just curious. Did you ever get the Superman Hush, Anthony? Wanna know your thoughts on it. I believe there's been some restocks going on in case you missed out.
I didn't before it sold out
You killed that “Keep Collecting “ Bit at the end . Awesome Vid
I hope the cape is removeable and interchangeable for a draping shoulder cape without the bulky look.
Great review, nice looking figure, hoping someday we get a Norm Breyfogle version of Batman figure made.
Admit it. you just like saying that name.
@@AnthonysCustoms lol I do, and he was an amazing artist!!
you like the heavy old school styling, eh? Fair enough.
I ordered the Black/Grey version last week and it just arrived today while I'm at work! The huge cape on Blue/Gray version was a deal breaker for me. Batman isn't Spawn.
Is the black grey one updated with a smaller cape?
@@AnthonysCustoms yes it is. Cape on Blue/Grey version is way too large and bulky.
I gave up on Mafex but this does look quite good.
Sculpt is nice he could have more mass and the fabric could be nicer the capsize is on the exaggerated side but it can be tucked in
Any plans to get the Mafex blue Dark Knight with Carrie Kelley Robin?
Yes.
AnthonysCustoms They look great! Hoping they turn out well
My cape isn’t connected on one side. It’s going to cut through fabric eventually
I'm completely confused , you say cyclops have weird anatomy , but this corona guy (batman) share most same body sculpt with cyclops and look good to you. So it is weird proportion or not?
Mcfarlane dc arkham asylum batman is my favourite figure just now.cant go wrong for £20 price tag.
£90 is Too much for a 6 inch mafex.
The slightly open grip hands are for gripping the cape
Yes. That was in the review.
The connection of the cape effing sucks.
Mine came broken out of the package, got a replacement and it broke off again after like 5 mins of handling the figure.
Absolute trash.
Bro how are your videos up the second the clock strikes 2
Scheduled upload!
Luke Walker oh I didn’t know you could do that
Awesome figure
The huge cape would fit a McFarland art style Batman perfectly
Things like shadowing, minor miss-proportions, and minor paint mess ups have never really bothered me that much.
@@ultimateslinger9857 Well it does bother me, in fact I find it insulting because they kept pushing back its release, and didn't even use the time to perfect the painting. The shading looked more like a discoloration over time than actual shading
Yeah, I think it’s weird that the released of mafex figures get pushed back every time too.
Having a yellow belt defeat the purpose of camouflage. It doesn’t make any sense
Yes it does. Do you know why?
BECAUSE HE'S BATMAN!
🤣😂
Dude the body is almost if not the exact same as the cyclops and you said that one was horrible how does that work??
It's not even close.
@@AnthonysCustoms hm o k a y
@@AnthonysCustoms changing up the sculpt for bat man with a smaller chest other than that ehh fairly close
@@AnthonysCustoms by the way look at the long legs short torso doesn't seem to fit right
The sculpts and proportions are entirely different.
Deff was waiting for your review.... soooooo glad that you articulate the virtues and vices of such a figure!!!!!
The left side for me is unattached as well. I’m not sure it’s meant to be like that.
Thanks for the review, man! Proportion-wise, I like DC Direct’s Batman Hush better. Too bad, the articulation was less generous.
+Anthonys Custom what I'm waiting is the spiderman multiverse series like little miles, it get clothing, that should up the game for mafex also the photos from exhibition looks really nice
We will see
Great review tho. What are your thoughts on shf JL batman I know that mafex one is better, much realistic tho but any ways to like or things that are better than mafex in shf batman JL?
I've reviewed them both
Well one of them is in the top figures of the decade on this channel and the other isn't, so take from that what you will.
The cape is my main gripe, but it's not a dealbreaker.
Will you be reviewing the Mafex Superman hush
Finally got my batman after pre-ordering from bbts.
bro ive gad that same squeking noise out of some mafex figures and it usually happens after alot of possing then when I stop using them they go back to normal.
I used to shit on AC. I still think he’s a little harsh more times than not, but fanboys need to hear it sometimes. Mafex fans constantly have to justify their purchases. If the figures were really consistently that good there would be no reason for them to be so offended by a reviewers opinion. That being said, this figure does look dope and I have one on the way.
batman hush is my favorite comic of all time
hey anthony, love your review man :D just want to ask...are you going to review mcfarlane's flashpoint batman?
I make AnthonyCustoms memes all the time but i do so out of appreciation, love watching your reviews man !
Mafex really needs to improve on their toe hinges. They're practically useless on most of the figures i have. I almost never need a stand with Figuarts and their hinges.
@anthonyscustoms what do you think of the new Halo figures that WCT jazwares is making?
There's potential
AnthonysCustoms yeah I hope there good I preordered them at GameStop yesterday I wanted to get the 1000 toys master chief but he’s pricy
Awesome figure!! But I've canceled my pre-order for this figure to aim for the black version.
Yeah, the cape kills it for me. Gonna pass on this one. I really hope the hush superman is a good figure. I have high hopes, and really want it.
just ordered my first action figure ever
its the mafex spuperman (hush)
realy looking forward to it
I love the giant cape
