- Mafex has an curious history of making great figures and also pretty bad ones. Will this mostly' repainted version of Batman prove to be one of the best Batman figures ever or will it just be another mediocre yet expensive collectible banking on the popularity of Frank Miller?

I like this version of Robin, I’d mostly be getting this for the blue and grey Batman but the Robin is a very welcome inclusion for me, however if she was a seperate figure I’d be hard pushed to but it separately. Blue and grey all the way and Happy Christmas everyone!
I had a figure of the blue and gray suit as a kid so I'm a little more attached to those colors. Plus I just love blue lol.
Every TH-camr who reviews figures should learn from your videos! When I see a figure that I'm interested in and you have a review for I'm honestly thrilled. My main thing is how you cover articulation, too many people skip that and I honestly find that it's one of the most important aspects of a review.
Side note: The fact that you critique and point out little things in the figure is excellent and I appreciate it. To me it probably wouldn't make much of a difference if (for example) the bat logo isn't perfect; but I love that you take the time to mention it just in case.

You can iron the cape putting a piece of cotton fabric over it so it doesn't burn. I did it with ML Storm's cape and it worked out perfectly. By the way, black and grey all the way! It's supposed to look kinda like a bat. Merry Christmas!
I'm a Black-and-Blue person, but I can't deny this and the battle damage look quite good. I am planning on getting this one with the robin, though.
Blue and gray over black and gray but I like the animated series look where the highlights are blue and base is black.. I think that looks very slick.. idk if they could emulate that in a figure but maybe some cell shading stuff like the neca cartoon TMNT stuff?

Blue and grey Batman drawn by Norm Breyfogle (Rest In Peace) is my favorite Batman.
I could care less about that Robin I bought it because I'm a Blue/Grey guy. I think this is a little step back for Mafex the things they got wrong shouldn't have happened. No excuse for sloppy paint at this price point. Luckily the new Wolverine looks amazing so I think overall Mafex have had a great year.
Yeah, I definitely agree. They NAILED the paint apps on their Dark Knight Triumphant figure, and it was certainly more detail-oriented than this release. There’s no excuse for sloppy paint on the huge bat logo and elsewhere.
My figure in particular had yellow and black paint smudge outside of the sculpted lines for the logo itself.
I missed it if you mentioned it, but the cape is shorter and easier to pose. I had to work with mine for a minute to get him to stand up without the armature - battle damaged one is more overall balanced. Paint on face and logo are a tad sloppy, but this was a must have. I love the Carrie Kelly, though. This is the darkest, grittiest Batman story imo, so I've only been waiting on these since 1986. I've seen people complain that Robin/Carrie Kelly is too small, but she's perfectly in scale with Batman, so it's true to the source material. Good review, thanks!
The suit was definitely the main draw for me, but I actually did buy it because it was a 2-pack. The promotional image of Robin drawing back her slingshot on top Batman’s shoulder personally called to me lol. I will say though that I much prefer the finish on the battle-damaged blue-grey suit, but I’m quite satisfied with this release overall.
And as an aside, you actually lucked out with the paint apps on a figure for once-my bat logo looks *much* worse than yours, for what it’s worth.

Best Batman figure hands down. I prefer the yellow oval Bat emblem as well. freaking love this figure. Robin is a great bonus and complements the Batman figure really well.

I ordered this figure because of the Batman. Having Robin is a nice bonus or accessory.
I’m a black-and-grey guy, but blue-and-grey is my next favorite.
I'm a black and grey guy, and I also really like Carrie, so she was the main reason I went for this 2-pack. At the same time, I think this Batman looks fantastic in blue, so I'm more than happy to own it.
My biggest complaint is the lack of scoped rifle accessory, which he used in a very prominent scene while wearing this suit. I get that there's some sort of WB mandate preventing firearms with characters, but it's still unfortunate. Hoping to find a good stand-in accessory from somewhere else.

What a beautiful set - Blue/Grey all the way! It's too much money for what it is, though. Mattel (ironically) did my favorite version of the Blue/Grey Fatman using a MOTUC buck... I'm happy with it.
For this Batman I prefer the black and grey. Honestly kind of wish they sold Robin on her own so I could use her with my 1:12 Batman

That said, I love what Mafex has done with the DKR Batman figures. Although they could have went with a more comic accurate chest symbol, Miller's was different.
I'm a blue and grey guy. As for the emblem- I can do either black bat only or the bat in the spot light emblem.

Black and grey is what I grew up with but as I get older, I learn to appreciate the blue and grey more.
Held off the Triumph ver to get this set and still have the black and grey ver. Grew up with blue and grey so it's my pref.
I got this because I wanted both figures. It's from the best comic story of all time. Want to display them in a pose from the graphic novels, with the book behind them in the case.
Look I accept some people have the mistaken opinion that Blue/Gray is their preferred look but Black and Gray is the superior look.
I'd chuckle if these two Batmen showed up, I'd think one missed the stop for smurfville(I never watched the cartoon, I was kinda non existent).
Still shame about those paint apps. Certain things like the logo should be perfect. It's like the face.

In my case having Carrie was actually an incentive to buy the figure, also, I didn't had the previous release for this Batman so I reallt was looking forward to it
To answer the question I’m wanting this set because of Robin and I don’t have a version of this suit in my collection. And I prefer black and gray
I bought it solely for the Robin. I don't like blue Bats as much and already have the black/grey one. Once I got him though I liked him and nixed my plans of selling him off.
I like Batman color as blue and gray but i prefer the black and gray. Tbh i don't really mind cause it is a classic version of Batman with this color scheme but black and grey is my favorite!

100% agreement on the usage of ball pegs and joints for articulation.

Hinged balls pegs should go, on most figures that have them it is the first thing to get loose

Mafex really need to step up their qc. At the price point I shouldn’t even be saying that. Look at mezco for example, those type of paint issues wouldn’t fly.

I’m looking for a good DC line to get into . been into mezco , dc multiverse several times , dc icons , dc essentials sold all off except dc multiverse. I’m just having rough time getting into DC lines . Is mafex the way to go ?
Black and grey for sure, but blue and grey depending on the artist is veryy close for me

Black and grey, for sure. If I were to get this, it'd be mostly for the Batman but I don't mind the Robin for the collection. However, if I could get the Blue and grey without the Robin assuming it'd be cheaper, I'd do that.

I didn't. I'll catch a reissue. I heard it was riddled with qc problems.
@@AnthonysCustoms I don't think the Gambit has any QC issue, not that I've heard so far. Definitely one of Mafex's strongest releases up until now.
I hope the reissue comes soon $200 is way too much
@@thehandsomepotato1265 probably will take them a couple years to re issue Gambit. There's a line of new unreleased figures and heaps of other old figures that need re issue. I also missed the pre order but a local shop help me out with a bit over retail price.
@@vxhviet they recently re released the hush black batman because he was also going for booko bucks which gives me hope. Fingers crossed though
Black and grey for me as suits the more stealth character of batman blue and grey looks cool but really doesn't seem like a good choice if you're trying not to be seen

The Dark Knight returns, is my least favorite of the well known Batman renditions. I thought everything about the story was terrible, with the fat Batman being the best character. The Joker was terrible...nothing suggesting that it even WAS the Joker (kinda like Joaquin Phoenix lol!). To answer the blue, or black with gray question; for me, I like the black and gray better. I figure that Batman should be able to blend into the background at night and should be intinidating. Kinda tough when he's dressed in almost powder blue. 😆😆 Sik
