- Mafex has released some really great figures but they have also produced some figures quite opposite. With a company track record so hit or miss, will this Batman be able to outshine the Hush version of the caped crusader which was the brand's best release in recent history?

Just to share with guys, I LOVE THIS STORY LINE OF BATMAN. rather than BATMAN V SUPERMAN Snider Version.

For Batman, black and gray, but a really nice deep blue looks really cool as well. With the lighter blue I find it too flat.
Yup. Black and grey for me, too. It's also makes more tactical sense than an all black, especially given the time and environment he operates on.

I’ve always preferred the blue and gray color scheme. Although, with something like The Dark Knight Returns incarnation of the character, black and gray looks and works better.

The black and grey is a favorite. If an all black approach is taken, I like to see various textures and finishes like gloss, matte, metallic, carbon fiber etc. that way they catch and bounce light in different ways.

Re: the cape on the Hush Batman. All the initial reviews on him gushed, which shouldn’t surprise. But yeah, later reviews pointed out that there is just too much cape.
Have you see a custom cape for it yet? Has anyone worked out how to remove the cowl to put one in?
Check out d star’s cape swapping on the hush batman. He did mention that permanent modifications had to be made including that one tab had to be clipped, but that didn’t really affect much on the figure.

Blue/Gray, Black/Gray, Black/Black in that order, which is why I was planning on holding off for the Batman/Carrie Kelley 2 pack. I was actually on the fence of getting the 2 pack because Mafex has been hit or miss lately, but this review convinced me to preorder. Thanks, and great review!

The cape looks like Alfred forgot the softener and dryer sheets and Bruce just pulled it from the laundry bag.
One of my fav Batman figures EVER and will definitely be in my 2020 top 5 hands down. I'm even really cool with the pleaded cape because the way they did it actually helps taking great dynamic photography. But I guess it might be an issue for people who just want a cape that hangs down nicely on a shelf. Not my case so I'm super happy with this figure. Makes me wanna throw my Mafex Hush Batman to the trash.
I prefer black on grey always! And sometimes blue and grey.
The blue one is looking like it's going to have that bigger cape. at least from what I can tell.

So glad its a great figure as I cancelled my pre order for the Hush Batman almost solely based on the absurdly large cape. This isn't my favorite Batman but its too cool not to have in the collection. Oh and my preferred look is Grey/Blue.
My nostalgic side leans to blue and gray, but I like black and gray too.

I grew up watching the Super Friends cartoon every morning while having breakfast before school time, so that color scheme brings back good memories.
I'm probably going to get the version that comes with Carrie Kelly but I'm almost sure that one will come with no Batarangs, but it's fine, I just want the thicc blue and gray Batman lol.
Black & Gray is a classic for me but I also really love black on black.
My go to is black and grey but depends in the story he is in too. Sometimes blue and gray works and the tim burton batman the black and black i think works perfect.

This is an awesome figure I honestly like all the forms of Batman such as the blue and grey, black and grey and black on black, I do like Batman being in the dark so I perfer the two black forms but I still do like the blue one very much and I just love the fat Batman and this figure looks exactly like the comic and it is amazing.
I no longer collect Mafex figures but this guy looks great.

Black on gray just the colours i think batman should all ways be drawed in just my opinion. The blue and gray doesnt intrest me.
I prefer the black and gray because it’s more intimidating. But my ideal look for Batman is the black and gray with blue highlights like in the animated series

Your question is tough but black and gray always although ironically all my favorite Batman comics have mostly blue and gray batmen. Hush, TDKR, long Halloween, dark victory.
This guy is crazy he said toe hinges suck. Toe hinges should be on ever figure. I agree some aren’t done well but they are sooo damn useful
Most are done well and pull budget from other things. Because of that, they usually suck. Obviously good ones don't... But those almost never happen.

DKR Batman black/gray is my favorite Batman figure so far. Him being sculpted in Frank Miller's art style makes him look so bad-ass . He's sparse on accessories ,though. No grappling-gun? Really? Mafex, c'mon. I really like this figure.
Ant, I just got the Mafex TDKR Superman. Now, I know you mentioned you're not a big Supes fan, but I highly, highly recommend it. It is incredible. If you liked this Batman, you'll love the Supes. Plus, they'll look incredible together.
I preffer blue and gray more than the other colours. And the review made me wanna buy this figure. I don't care too much about Dark Knight but this figure is so good that i need it.
Black and grey but the grey has to be very dark grey.
Technical the "blue and grey" is really black and grey. Drawing a character with black on grey back in the day was probably a challenge to make it look good until we got modern printing techniques.
Me before I see his videos and have a figure: wow this is perfect no mistakes.

The quality of this one gives hope to the battle damaged triumphant figure being even better. If the paint apps on both the head and on the the damaged areas are spot on like the promotion pics, we are on to a winner！

Wow this is a great Frank Miller Batman figure, personally I like black on grey batman and dark metallic blue on grey with the black and yellow bat symbol.
GAH 😩 I want this so bad but my wallets not fat enough (also this Batman isn’t fat so much as like power lifting build )
Just got mine and it’s doing pretty well, only issue I had was the hip joints. One is so loose it pops off more than I’d care for and the other was so fuckn tight I needed shock oil, but outside of that I love it

I might consider selling my hush batman and get this with the Mafex TDKR superman. I'll wait first to see what are the full accessories of the TDKR Supes. So far the only head sculpts are the neutral and dmged face. Superman without heat vision head sculpt is a deal-breaker.
Pardon the comment a whole year later, but I'm hoping you get a chance to review the 2-pack with Robin! There's new stuff to look at (both Robin herself and some accessories for Batman), and it would be great to revisit this mold in the blue and gray colors.

Just want to point out the Batman Hush figure does have a smaller symbol so it would be harder to paint, but that's still bull as I have a 3 inch Batman figure that has a perfect symbol.
One of my favorite figs the blue and grey except Cape is to big ,but u have to learn to use it to your advantage. U really do it takes patience. Think of the Cape like another accessory to help your fig would I prefer the smaller yes I wish they let u change the cape charging maybe a little more money .actually it already is JESUS!!!!! I'm going broke my god!!! And did u see the superman ? Holy shit

Black and grey all the way, blue and grey can look good in certain comics but I see that more as the Adam West/less dark style Batman, to me he'd be in those colours when he's with the Justice League or something like that, to me the Dark Knight should be in darker colours. Black on black though I don't like much since there are less versions out there with those colours aside from the film designs and like you said it's less visually interesting.

Mafex just knows how to nail Batman. I can't really tell if they've ever put out a bad batman.

Like the old group from the 60s, The Moody Blues. In my opinion Batman black is scarier in the comics. In the videos his costume is so black it's blue. When i see the Batman blue costume it seems Robin will be near by him soon. The Batman black I only get the loner vibe or him and Night Wing together. Nice review of a winning figure. Thanks for sharing your treasure.
