One of my favourite standouts of the Speedmaster range. Now with the Saturn V rocket... What are your thoughts on the "Dark Side of the Moon" Collection? Too much or just the right amount of difference?
Sorry. Late to the party. Kitsch. Perfect word for this thing. It honestly depressed me when I saw it. And not just the price and the stupid toy rocket. They had to take away the lume too? I’m full of angry expletives
The constantly spinning Rocket looks like it’s getting out of control lol, if will look better if it’s a minute chrome hand, at least most of the time it’s facing upwards
I have the original, I did upgrade it to a black Alligator strap with the Omega titanium clasp. It does change the look of the watch and its comfort level. The original strap with buckle was quite small in length, so much so that I was worried that it could come undone with standard buckle. The clasp, though expensive is much more secure and pleasant to wear. You don’t miss the somewhat gimmicky Yellow Black trim of the original. Is the New version worth another $10 K up here in Canada? Maybe. Maybe not. I do appreciate the better relief on the laser etching, details are better. Hmm…
I thought the same at first because I was the owner of the Mark 1 Apollo 8. But I decides to switch and couldn't be any happier. I cannot stress enough how beautiful the dial is. The rocket out of this world. The bracelet is in rubber with folding clasp made out of titanium and ceramic. The reason why they removed the lume on the bezel is because superluminova is not that durable. They decided to do the tachymeter in enamel white because it is classy and can last forever on the tachymeter. The reason why the word tachymeter is no longer in yellow is because the yellow in enamel would look dull. The omega and speedmaster words are painted by hand. The quality and the details in this watch are amazing. Not to forget the metas certified movement with hacking seconds. As a Snoopy owner, I can safely say this is the most attractive watch l've ever worn or seen.
I also see myself as an amateur (started playing at 18 after years of learning piano and thought about what a mistake I had made 😆) 10 or so years later and it's such therapy man... as for "Dark Side of the Moon" it was the perfect excuse for the riff ;)
Good morning! (in the western U.S. at least). Tony in Utah here. Summary: You are annoyed at this release, using words like "sadly", "deal breaker", "irritates", and the best of all "BUGS ME " - twice!! (LOL) All that said, I think you verbalized what a lot of us are feeling about this Omega release. You nailed the opening and closing! (Pink Floyd, Money and "One small step too far.") All SPOT ON. Your exasperation for a watch we clearly WANT to like was palpable. Well done, as always. :) Enjoy your weekend.
As always another spot on video. I get wanting to celebrate a moment that mankind has achieved, but at the cost of "the" watch that is your foundation of what you have become, is risky at best. With that said, I realized who Omega is, and know they have many, many great watches that has shaped the company. I feel they need to tread lightly, and you, good man, assigning the term Kitsch to this new watch is exactly what they have done, and very shortly we will move on from kitsch and follow the solid.
Totally agree. I have the original and aside from the rubber strap and deployant there is nothing about this new version that interests me. The original is such a feast for the eyes, but on the new one your eyes just get drawn to the silly rocket…. Great video.
Very nice job as always. The rocket isn’t a dealbreaker(the price takes care of that) but certainly unnecessary. The blk/yellow is very readable. Congrats to Omega.
The price... an unfortunate reality... we now critique their business practice more than the watches 😆 Surely, surely something is going to change (or at least, stores will heavily drop / discount the prices in a few months) 🥃
This DSOTM is one of the two Speedy models I love, the second being the ceramic blue aventurine. I've tried this one on my 18.5cm wrist, exclusive, lovely and BIG, very BIG. I'll probably pick one at some point in the future, because hell yeah!
Can you imagine a scenario where a group of people at Omega are discussing the new design for the DSOTM and one person says, "we should make one of the sub dial hands look like a tiny rocket", and everyone agrees that it's a good idea? It's mind boggling..
Had they wanted to do something different, they could’ve made an earth watch rather than the moon. The big deal about Apollo 8 was the earth rise picture (after the mission…tv pictures were poor back then when compared to what the astronauts saw and photographed). Omega’s laser ablation technology is getting pretty good. Doing an earth rise Apollo 8 could’ve pushed their envelope more than a slightly better moon dial.
I like the rocket. I don’t like that the tachy scale no longer has lume, and like everybody else I think the price is stupid. Omega are in for a tough time if the watch market keeps stagnating. I’ve seen two different ADs doing 20% off all Omega watches this month in the UK. Not just the discontinued ones but all of them (one didn’t include the Moon Watch). All of their watches are looking expensive for what they are now as good as they are. JLC have done the same thing and so have many others.
These hikes are insane man... and it's something that'll continue for a while I think. But good to know that UK AD's are cutting the prices (as they should) - Swatch has more than enough money 😉 I just feel for new-timers wanting to get into the hobby and would feel the need to re-mortgage a home to afford a new Speedmaster. The question, will brands eventually capitulate and come back down to earth? Or being "Luxury" and "proud", turn up their noses? 🥃
I think Omega is going into a direction I won't be liking. Thicker Watches, more limited editions, higher prices and collabs with lower tier for fast cash. Thanks bro for the great video 👍🏽
It's something that Swatch seems focused on doing (especially with the likes of Breguet and Omega) but hey, there are rare cases when something magical happens like the CK859 - few and far between though brother... hope you're well and surviving the cold m'boy! 🥃
First off, $14,300 before sales tax!!! I think the Swatch Group is far more involved with Omega designers than before. Rather than creating something new, they just keep changing the speed master design and raising the price ...some of these changes, just cheapen the brand and ultimately it doesn't feel like a luxury watch. The Saturn 5 rocket is a great example of that.
Sweet introduction. PF is by far my favorite group. Apologies, but you won't be able to get me hyped for the Omega DSM Speedmaster. Truly appreciate your perspective on the design esthetics as always.
I don't think anyone is hyped about this release at all (which is sad) considering previous years around this time they've given us such interesting pieces. AND the opportunity to do something "Dark Side of the Moon" on the guitar was too good to pass up 😉 Thank you as always sir! I hope you're having a great weekend! 🥃
Totally agree with your assessment of the watch. It is "Kitsch" and, believe me, as a native German speaker this is not a positive connotation. As somebody else said, it's a great watch ... if you are 6 years old. And then there is the price. Good luck to Omega finding those people willing to pay 15.8 k EUR for that piece. It's not going to be me.
For Christmas my parents gifted me the All Black lunar pilot from Bulova, and man it wears like a charm, it really reminds me of the Apollo 8, and you’re right an all black watch wears quite small, and yeah the new Apollo 8 is quite kitsch, but oddly enough I like it, but now imagine a Saturn V inspired moonwatch, they could knock it out of the park
Can never go wrong with the Lunar Pilot! And it's got the history to match... really is the ideal piece on so many levels man. And great shout comparing it to the Apollo 8 🔥 Oh, and I'm sure the MoonSwatch won't pass on the opportunity to create many, many more "inspired by" machines 😉
Cheers mate, you made your opinion as an, well, ID guy quite clear and I think, a lot of watch enthusiasts think about this in the same way. Anyway, those "toy-watches" (i.e. Moon Swatch et al) sell very well and I think we will see tons and tons of them to come...
At first this watch made me think why? But after thinking about your comment connection to the moon swatch I think if I was a new blood into this crazy watch world and I had started my journey over the last few years chasing moonswatches this Apollo 8 might just be the holy grail of watches. Omega grooming it’s new followers into our world 😂. I on the other hand still wait patiently for my snoopy after what seems like 3000 years. Great video again mother plucker👍
I can’t wait for the plastic edition , oh wait, they’ve don’t that . Ok I can’t wait for the picture disk, oh yes, sorry they’ve done that, how about the buzz Aldrin on a rocket picture watch ! Yes I can’t wait !
If I was a rich guy who already has a lot of watches, I would totally buy this for the rocket seconds hand. A man has to buy himself an expensive toy from time to time and this release really scratches that itch for me
You get to a certain point with watches like AP for example were they are consistently trying to reinvent the same watch and doing things to justify enormous price tags. You’ve got it spot on it is” a few technical improvements” and a lot of spin to justify the price. The previous generation was equally as good without a stupid rocket on the dial. Real prestige would’ve been something classy engraved on the case back. I really don’t believe that type of watch requires an exhibition case back.
I have wrists that are on the large side (>20cm) but I don't want to go any larger than the 42mm Professional case. If this was in a black ceramic 42mm with most of the fussy detailing left out, I would be more interested.
Great review as always. I used to own the first generation. Fell in love with it before having the physical watch. Fell out of love with it very quickly as it was incredibly difficult to tell the time using it. A watch to admire off the wrist, not to be used. The strap was far too small for my 8” wrist too. The addition of the new movement in this release is good, but the rocket just cheapens the design ethos.
2:37 To be fair, I actually like this Gold & black version… and I generally don’t like anything gold, I just like the contrast and accent, same with the yellow accents on the new Apollo 8 version. But maybe it’s just because I like when it’s very easy and quick to read time, so higher contrast helps for that matter. To each his own…
Like it, didn’t look at the price yet, not in the market. Do have the 50th Apollo 11, really a great watch to wear. Much better in really life than on photograph. Enjoy your weekend.
Tried as I might to find other bits of footage, the Apollo 11th was the best example to get my point across ;) Thanks for sharing this Theo and have a super weekend! The price of the new Apollo 8 might shock you a bit 😉🥃
Fully understand the pics of the Apollo 11, didn’t like it at first. My AD kept it for me to see, so much better. I don’t mind this playfulness. Just something different from the standard. Maybe that is also my i like the Milgauss GV. The price is the price. The question always remains the same, do i want to pay that amount for that product. For now i will stick with my new set of golfclubs, should arrive February. 🥃
And speaking of Milgauss' that should be fun to develop for 2024. I'm sure it's the anniversary year this year (wonder if they'll keep the GV?) Great point about prices too sir! 🥃@@ThD040
I don't understand : are there two of the same watch now? I wish you could have shown them side by side. I didn't know which one you were elaborating on half the time.
Thank you Cedar! And Omega does "greyscale" pieces so nicely... they could have a blast with remodelling them AND upping the prices by 30% obviously 😆 Have a great weekend Sir! 🥃
I have to disagree with you on this one. I rather like it. As an artist, I like the fact that Omega tries different things. They may not always be to everyone's taste, but they're not stagnant either.
Omega does overdo limited and special editions of the Moonwatch. I don't mind so much since they have come out with some bangers along with the dross. I own the Fois which is one of the most reserved in design but I love it. What a bargain it was compare to modern pricings.
The FOIS... I've returned to it again and again and again... such a great piece and absolutely right, one of those bargains today that seems unreal looking at RRP. Killer piece! 🥃
I often wonder what all the fuss is about. If Omega asked us every time which watches they should make, then a watch would probably never be produced. We should enjoy the watches, as well as the great manufactured movements. If we don't like a watch or it's too expensive, then we won't buy it.
I've been so close to purchasing the first iteration of this. However, the size is a bit too large for my wrist size. I've read the mixed reviews on the update. I hear people say so many times that they wish Omega as a brand would follow Rolex example of small changes over time. Nevertheless, when present with that in this case so many are dissatisfied. I think the updates are in line and the rocket is a cool touch. The price has gone up but so have the prices of other brands that have technically unchanged watches (Cartier cough). The regular dsotm is 12k so 2k more seems about right given the level of detail. We just have to understand Omega is no longer a cheaper Rolex alternative but a confident rival. Just my two cents.
Dear Mr ID Guy, I think it’s cool to have a some fun when possible. If this makes someone feel happy then go for it. Nothing like being Hippy Dippy is there now? I’m all in. ❤
Overall I like it, though I do wish it were a coated steel in the Speedy Pro size. That price is eye watering though. It definitely seems like a niche model, but it looks great. Thanks for pointing out the lack of the extra lume detail like the original, which is a bit disappointing. Overall, I think it's fine, but not what I was hoping to see. I'd like to see a more mainstream addition to their Speedy Pro line, like a new racing model (again, not the 44.25mm), and the silver/white dial Daniel Craig's been spotted wearing. I don't want something priced at Daytona retail pricing. I want something at Speedy Pro moonwatch pricing, which itself has a gotten a bit far up there the last 2 years.
I prefer the classic Speedmaster professional, or my FOIS Speedmaster, the classics ,are timeless, and there is something about simplicity, thats re assuring visually.
Think watch brands will continue to price gouge as the market stabilises. Like you if I could afford it I'd have a gold speedie but the canopus gold version. Just to advise the rocket is a Saturn Five.
Agreed, I reckon it's going to get really bad before it gets better... there's going to be a drop-off point somewhere, right? And I deliberately called it the "Vee" instead of Five (probably to my detriment) 😉🥃
I'll be sure to thread in some bits and pieces if they fit in the video (maybe as outro's) Feels great knowing there's someone out there who enjoys an amateur playing 😆🥃
Beautiful watch & I’ve been wanting to pull the trigger for a long time. With the current edition having a 30% haircut pre-owned I wonder who will pay almost double for the new edition as a 30% haircut at the higher retail price would be painful for most
The Saturn V is not so glaring to me (but I’m old so I need reading glasses to see it). I just took the step too far (the Boutique got one two days after the release). I remember the missions so I may have a stronger attraction to the Apollo watches than the younger crowd. They won’t make many of ‘em, too expensive for most (comments are from the internet types…younger than me). The 1mm less in thickness is nice. I don’t really miss the lume on the bezel. My other ceramic omega is a hockey puck compared to this Apollo 8 reissue. I also heard the Craig speedmaster is coming later this year. Many interested in it (because we knew it was coming…the step too far was not expected). The Craig speedy will also be a regular lineup model . I think limited edition isn’t their thing anymore, but more $ for less effort is definitely here to stay (and not just for Omega).
Always had a soft spot for this model. However, general opinion is that actually telling the time during daylight hours is difficult. The hands tend to blend in to the dial. Also, last time I looked a year or so ago they were around £8800, with the current price now £10100. This new version is £13500. Madness.
How can a watch come close to almost doubling in price in just a few years? I just don't get it man... even those who really, really want it would have to seriously justify buying one (and tell the kids they aren't going to college) 🥃
I love the 2018 version, which recalls the gorgeous Seiko 6138 3002 Jumbo automatic chronograph, the stop-second hand of which was almost exactly the same colour. As far as this one is concerned, its selling point will possibly be the 3869 movement. I don’t remember, however, seeing any photographic evidence that the Moon’s surface is actually made of scrambled egg. The running -seconds rocket hand is a mismatch with the other sub hands as it is a diameter and not a radius. Don’t Sell One To Me!
ID-Guy, do you know if Omega sells more Speedmasters then Rolex sells Daytonas? Both are nice watches yet Daytona is only available to big spenders at the AD or 2X on the grey market.
Great question Danny. Just purely by numbers I'd say 100% yes that Omega sells more Speedmasters per year. The Daytona in comparison is far more of a "specialist" piece and I think purely through production numbers (percentages) alone, there are far, far less Daytona's made per year too 🥃
When I saw this I instantly fell in love. Because the DSOTM was always “too much”. It’s completely ridiculous with the moon texture and skeletonized dial, being black with yellow accents, the whole thing is over the top from the beginning and in the best way possible. Adding the tiny Saturn V seconds hand just fits in with everything else. Saying it’s too much is like saying the original design wasn’t already over the top, as if it was serious. I feel like this piece was always a fun eccentric concept. I love it and want it but I don’t want a divorce (the price!). Can we also point out how different Omega’s “over the top” is as compared to when Rolex goes “over the top” - when Rolex goes too far, the end results are simply hideous and gaudy like with the puzzle dial Olyster or the celebration dial. At least with Omega there’s a reason or theme.
You're right in saying it was already over the top. Maybe in my eyes I feel that the original wasn't so "literal", only 75% of the way there with the moon on the dial 😉@@ilmostro16 And well said about how brands take it too far. When Rolex does it we barely even take notice (because they are flat out disgusting) hahaha! All fair points sir, thank you 🥃
I'm 65, I grew up watching the Space Race, and followed NASA and their missions. I confess I'm a James Bond and Omega fan boy. All the Space Speedmasters are great. Ed White; Snoopy is fantastic. DSOTM is brilliant. In the past, you have mentioned that the Limited/Special Editions are getting tedious. The Saturn V, on the sub dial is unnecessary. Not sure it will be a big seller(?)
Perfect timing from Omega to bring a new expensive toy in the market when bankers and lawyers are about to get their 2013 bonuses. This is not NASA driven. It is EBITDA driven.
@@ID-Guy Brands need a reality check on prices. This is how I see prices as someone who isn't wild wealthy but still likes watches: If the price is within spitting distance of a Rolex, I will just buy the Rolex. Rolex is essentially the top price I would pay for machine finished watches. Nothing above it, with machine finishing, is worth it because ultimately the brand has less value than Rolex. You can be any brand on the planet, you aren't worth more to the general public as Rolex. Therefore you should be pricing accordingly. It really doesn't matter what tech your pushing, Rolex is your soft cap.
The good thing about the price increase on these watches is that it has made me realize that I do not need these expensive watches and made me get out of this watch collecting hobby. They have gone way out of my price range now. It is a nice watch and if you can afford it then good for you.
That's why I got a speedy 57 and never looked at another speedy. They have milked the moon and NASA association for way way too long . The new model feels like a toy
Rock on man! Beautiful guitar playing.... Omega too expensive and too thick these days. I'm done with new ones until they improve Update on IWC... returned from service and sent straight back on warranty... one indice at 9pm was moved a few degrees. And bad polishing on lugs... this is the official service centre man..unbelievable Anyway, so just back to G shock.. somebody offered me a new panda dial seiko prospex 39m solar chrono for £385 ... a watch dealer I know...I don't know man...stop gap watches are never good as then I'll have to try sell it! I may just remain patient for another few months Sometimes this hobby is just a load of frustration 😊
Thank you brother (the opportunity to play was too good to pass on) 😉 AND I'm furious to hear that they botched your service... after all those months?? I'm the same as you with "stop gap" pieces... we should enjoy the pieces we really want. My small collection feels "unofficially" complete... and must say, the simpler the better. Damnit I'm frustrated for you... a cheeky Seiko might be a great way to clear your head? 🥃
@@ID-Guy yeah you play really well! I'm gonna try to behave man. No need to buy anything. I'm asking a friend to borrow his Sinn for a few months. That may be the best solution
Great call on a Sinn (there are some pieces I need to see myself)@@Valera_Scotland But man, I hope this IWC issue is remedied quickly... maybe they could throw in a Mark XX for good measure? 😉🥃
Jeff Koons! Not my kind of art, but certainly kitsch! Great video, as always, but there are too many Speedys now. They need to reduce the whole range to 3 variants - homage to the original 1969 moon model. Dark side of the moon variant, and something else. 3 and done!
Are the recent dramatic price increases accelerating the death of the watch industry as a whole? If the middle class cannot even dream to aspire to own a rolex or a omega, will that just lessen the interest in owning a watch overall? Or will other more affordable brands take their place?
That's the question we're all asking ourselves John. New watch prices are getting beyond ridiculous (tried to make a video a few weeks ago about the "concerning future of watch price increases") BUT the beauty is that we can look at finding bargains for older pieces. Sadly, the new-timers will probably lose interest the minute they're told "no" or given the current prices. More affordable brands definitely have a place now 🥃
@@ID-Guy Thanks for your reply, and I’ll check your video on the topic! Hopefully Rolex/omega will come to their senses. End of the day their watches are mass-produced in high numbers compared to the scarcity of high horology brands like PP, VC etc. Onwards and upwards.
I have owned the Apollo 8 for three years and wear it with great joy. Of course there are watches that are easier to read, but I don't think it's that bad, it seems to vary from person to person. I like the new version better because the moon's surface appears much more three-dimensional than before and because the watch is flatter. I also welcome the new bracelet and movement (although the 186x runs very reliably). The rocket hand? Maybe a bit silly, but ok, I'm a space enthusiast, so a Saturn V doesn't really bother me. 🫣 I just find it annoying that the lume of the tachymeter is now missing. Anyway, I'm now trying to sell my Apollo 8 and will then look for the new one - even though the price is really painful.
I owned one of the OG DSOM8’s. Agree with everything regarding the beauty and visual buffet of detail. There is however, one major issue. The watch is simply unreadable in most situations. The one improvement they overlooked is simply improving the contrast of the hour and minute hand. I regrettably sold the watch because the function was not there. I understand the idea of a watch as jewelry but the item still retains a basic task of quickly delivering the time with a glance and here this watch fails.
Omega really can be their own worst enemy. Subtle touches to the speedy are best, you have an iconic and beautiful design and making it gaudier and bigger and sillier is just the wrong direction to go.
Funny to say that a brand like Omega brings it on themselves. They have all the potential, great designs, histories... but Swatch holding the reigns slows them down and steers them all over the place 🥃
@@ID-Guy good point about Swatch. Seems like misreading the market given the resurgence of more restrained and neo vintage pieces and omega having so many classic and beautiful designs
I love it. No I can't afford it but I will always want one. I like the rocket hand as its so subtle. I'm wondering If your review and snobby tone makes you yourself Kitsch...

That yellow, on the dial and the textile strap, must be why I liked the Tudor North flag so much.
Is it a cam actuated chronograph? Looks like from the limited shots of calibre?

Thank you brother, it was one of those "too good not to include" moments "Dark Side of the Moon" and all the rest 😉🥃
I’m now playing dark side to all my plants!!! I run a frew grows in the U.S.🌿🌿
@@ID-Guy Weekend is just getting started. Below freezing here in Virginia. And may the balance of your weekend be stellar. 🥃
I don't always comment but I'm always here 🙏
Totally agree with your assessment of the watch.
0:17 ohhh yeah 👍 nice one man The Album 😎👌
I agree. As someone that thought the original Dark Side of the Moon was an impressive achievement, the rocket was a step too far for me.
Pretty much nailed all of my thoughts. I'm hoping I can get an old version second hand NOT at the new retail price...
Enjoy the hunting brother! it's by far one of THE most rewarding parts of this hobby 😉
Speedmasters be damned….Brother got some that souuuuulllll in his fingers 🤣😉👊
Haha! thank you m'boy 😉 The amateur in me finds this very flattering 🥃
I like the 1. gen DSOTM Apollo 8 more than the new 2. gen. But both are great and beautiful watches. 😍
Yeah, I need it🚀👍
2:37 To be fair, I actually like this Gold & black version… and I generally don’t like anything gold, I just like the contrast and accent, same with the yellow accents on the new Apollo 8 version.
🥃@@ThD040
Nice Intro 👍
I don't understand : are there two of the same watch now? I wish you could have shown them side by side. I didn't know which one you were elaborating on half the time.
Yes theres two types of them now. An old version and the latest version. He showed them side by side at 6:04
I love it. It’s a beautiful watch. Omega is just SEXY!
Don’t mind the rocket (even though it’s weird) the dealbreaker was when I couldn’t tell the time
A grey side of the moon would be in my collection were it not for the steep price. Nice video once again
Are you wearing a Hemel chrono?
Great video, agree with everything you said
Omega does overdo limited and special editions of the Moonwatch.
Nice rendition of Money.
Thank you Christian! The opportunity was too good to miss 😉🥃
I will have this on my wrist.
Dear Mr ID Guy, I think it’s cool to have a some fun when possible. If this makes someone feel happy then go for it. Nothing like being Hippy Dippy is there now? I’m all in. ❤
“There are more variations of this watch than there are people on this earth.” Hahahahahaha
Intro 👌🏾 video 👌🏾
Hope you're fantastic m'boy! AND still getting a kick out of your Exp2! 🔥
@@ID-GuyFor sure 🙌🏾It’s a beast. Between the two, I’m struggling to imagine anything else ☺️
I prefer the classic Speedmaster professional, or my FOIS Speedmaster, the classics ,are timeless, and there is something about simplicity, thats re assuring visually.
Love mine, was my second Omega
Think watch brands will continue to price gouge as the market stabilises. Like you if I could afford it I'd have a gold speedie but the canopus gold version. Just to advise the rocket is a Saturn Five.
Agreed, I reckon it's going to get really bad before it gets better... there's going to be a drop-off point somewhere, right? And I deliberately called it the "Vee" instead of Five (probably to my detriment) 😉🥃
Do you do voice offers? You should do if you don't?
How much does it cost at an AD?
More guitar content please! ❤
I'll be sure to thread in some bits and pieces if they fit in the video (maybe as outro's) Feels great knowing there's someone out there who enjoys an amateur playing 😆🥃
@@ID-GuyI'm sure I'm not the only one always wondering whether it's the Gibson, the Martin or the relicd Strat that's gonna make an appearance 😉
You are very very good, IDGuy
I have the Black Black and love it!
Beautiful watch & I’ve been wanting to pull the trigger for a long time. With the current edition having a 30% haircut pre-owned I wonder who will pay almost double for the new edition as a 30% haircut at the higher retail price would be painful for most
A very nice black/yellow watch is the Omega Dynamic.
Been wanting to make a video on the Dynamic (agreed man, incredible how the T lume has aged over the years)🥃
Next to the original, this one I like, modern looking, all ceramic, new movement, black wirh yellow motives..
Cons
Price and size.
And still you can’t read the time too well on this updated but not improved version.
"Madness? This. Is. Omega."
King Leonidas, probably
The Daytona in comparison is far more of a "specialist" piece and I think purely through production numbers (percentages) alone, there are far, far less Daytona's made per year too 🥃
But it has a rocket on the dial…
Right?? Who can NOT like that? 😉🥃
@@ID-Guy 🤔
All fair points sir, thank you 🥃
1:56 their chicken never ending limited editions 😉
You like black and yellow? Have you seen the “Caution Yellow” G-Shocks? Blackest black, bright yellow.
Think it's the 90's kid in me that loves that colour combination. No idea why, but they've always felt simple and engaging for my brain 😉🥃
The only problem with this watch is the $3600 price increase.
Unreal how the numbers keep on climbing, right? Where do they get these figures from?? 🥃
@@ID-Guy Brands need a reality check on prices.
This is how I see prices as someone who isn't wild wealthy but still likes watches:
If the price is within spitting distance of a Rolex, I will just buy the Rolex.
Perfect intro…
The good thing about the price increase on these watches is that it has made me realize that I do not need these expensive watches and made me get out of this watch collecting hobby. They have gone way out of my price range now. It is a nice watch and if you can afford it then good for you.
i prefer the grey side in this part of the catalog.
They could play with the Grey Side collection nicely with an updated version, naturally, 30% price increase included 😉
That's why I got a speedy 57 and never looked at another speedy. They have milked the moon and NASA association for way way too long . The new model feels like a toy
Rock on man! Beautiful guitar playing....
Omega too expensive and too thick these days. I'm done with new ones until they improve
Update on IWC... returned from service and sent straight back on warranty... one indice at 9pm was moved a few degrees. And bad polishing on lugs... this is the official service centre man..unbelievable
Anyway, so just back to G shock.. somebody offered me a new panda dial seiko prospex 39m solar chrono for £385 ... a watch dealer I know...I don't know man...stop gap watches are never good as then I'll have to try sell it!
I may just remain patient for another few months
Sometimes this hobby is just a load of frustration 😊
@@ID-Guy they better ha ha. Well they included a free leather travel case. That was nice I guess
@@IDKline haha fair point
Nice! I saw my Mark II. 😆
Love the Mk2... it's such a cool piece (racing or non-racing dial) - feels like these reissues were a part of Omega's "Golden Era" a few years back 🥃
Love the orange re-issue because my dad had the vintage one. Such a shame they're quite uncommon.@@ID-Guy
I agree that Omega over does it when it comes to the Speedmaster. For me simpler is better.
We could argue that the original was also over the top... but man, their simpler pieces (from a simpler time) are hard to beat! 🥃
This is a totally reasonable point, but I decided I don’t care. The watch is awesome.
The dark side of the moon is also pure kitch. I mean … look at it … it has a “moon texture”.
To have moon texture on the dial is already a step too far, you're right 😆The Rocket is just some extra cheese added to the OTT nature of it all 🥃
watch companies do not have to come out with a new watch every year
Omega really can be their own worst enemy.
