Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well! It does feel a bit strange to talk about watches now that there is so much going on right now that is way more important. But I have to say that especially now, its nice to take my mind off of things every now and then throughout the day and what better way to do so than talking about the things we love :-). Please stay healthy, safe and most importantly at home if possible ;-) ❤️
Don’t underrate the importance of having provided us with a diversion from all the “gloom and doom” in the media. With the fabulous macro shots of an interesting watch, and your beautiful smile, you have made the day better for all of us ! 😃👍
Thought about getting this one but went with the blue side of the moon aventurine dial. Absolutely love it :). Yes Omega has alot of special editions but I like having a little variety to choose from. After all it is the spice of life
I can agree. I picked one up only last weekend and love it. Although personally I would have loved they'd switches the arm colours. Yellow for the time and white for the third. I sometimes need a second look to read the time. Also it seems strange that the card I got with it has a serial number from 2000 on (bought it new from an Omega shop though). Do you know where you can find the serial on the watch itself ? Can't find it anywhere (and forgot to ask)
I have one by myself , I think it's funny that owners still enjoy watching these videos ... Haha I don't know why I watch that stuff but it makes me appreciate my watch more
I would like to echo your comments - stay healthy and stay at home whenever possible. Thanks to all TH-cam content makers for putting out the content to keep us all entertained 🙏🙏👏👏
Another great video, Jenni!! I recently purchased my first Speedmaster and had difficulty choosing between this model (Apollo 8 DSotM) and the one I actually purchased (Blue Side of the Moon Aventurine dial, moonphase). The Aventurine dial and Master Chronometer movement sealed the deal for me. A few data points: 1) the ceramic case is actually pressure forged in a plasma oven at between 14,000 C and 20,000 C for over three hours. The case is then polished with a diamond sanding belt. 2) Omega ceramic is significantly harder than any other material yet used in a common watch brand, and is not the same any ceramic offered from other Watch companies. 3) Rolex’s 904L steel is only marginally harder than the 316L surgical grade stainless steel like Omega (and many others use). However, 904L can’t be heat treated or cryogenically treated. 316L can have either or both techniques applied. After proper treatment, 316L is stronger and less brittle than 904L. Both are good options, but neither is clearly superior. 3b) The susceptibility of the Omega clasp and bracelets to wear is due to their choice to use brushing over polishing (which is more resilient), and not due to any difference in metallurgy. Lastly, I don’t see the variety that Omega offers for the Speedmaster as a downside. I just don’t. My pleasure or pride of ownership of a Watch has literally nothing to do with how many other watches of that type were made, or if myriad versions of mine exist. There’s no image to be diluted. That’s a fallacious, abstract concept invented by a few within the greater watch community. The same few who happen to benefit financially from the perceived scarcity or preciousness of a specific subset of watches. You’re one of the best Watch channels on the internet. Keep up the great work, Jenni!
One of the most sensible comments I've read in a while. Agreed on all points and If you're a secure individual, it's not about what others think, but what you love. I am a convert to omega Abt 1 year ago and am loving them! I came from the "other" brand *wink* still have them but I prefer to wear omega's now 😊
That makes it really special. Just getting my MOTM tomorrow for my 40th Anniversary from my dear wife. We are children of the 50s and it is impossible to overstate the power of the quest for the moon landing set in motion by JFK on our educations and focus on the future. In a thousand years when all those in the news today will be long forgotten children will know the names of the first to walk on the moon. Keep that wonderful watch in the family for your decendants.
Wooo, a genuine female watch enthusiast! No cheap provocative cleavage shots & dressing, No over the top makeup dripping down the face, No fake drama & flirty tone, You deserve a subscribe. Keep up the good work, channel has class & decent audience.
My dad lent me his Omega Speedmaster Professional many years ago, being a high school student, I was young and stupid and did not know the true values of it, and I lost it. It was my biggest regret ever, especially now that I started into watches and began to understand the Omega Speedmaster heritage, and the beautiful design. It is a truly beautiful chronograph ever.
@@Chris-es3wf Don't be too hard on yourself, I remember losing things as a kid and being heartbroken. My son recently lost his iPhone a couple months after receiving it for his birthday. I tried not to be too hard on him, but he went without for a couple weeks. I recently gave him his first luxury watch to mark and remember the time of COVID-19, but it was a Hamilton not an Omega just yet until he learns to take care of valuable things.
I really dont agree with everyone saying that there 'are too many moon watches'. Ultimately, people still buy them all, they have a classic design which is timeless. It allows big money spenders to have huge collection and allows the less fortunate to own maybe one or two*. *As most 'Special Editions' dont hold their value. Overall, I'm biased and think that if they had 150m water-resistance, they would be perfect. Love the channel.
I think the ultimate Speedmaster never exist because everyone will have their own liking. For me, I currently owned 8 different Speedmaster and I can’t tell you which is my favourite one. Great video, stay safe and stay healthy.
I may be biased, but I agree 100%. I own only two Speedmasters. At 1967 321 speedy on a crock band with deployant clasp, and this wonderfully designed Apollo 8 Dark Side. The perfect pair.
Another video well done.. Thank you for giving us something interesting to watch to help pass the time of boredom..stay safe and healthy and keep the vids coming 😊
I have the original Dark Side of The Moon with the twin barrel 9300 movement. I'm tempted by this, but it's not different enough for me to add this to my collection. I have tried it on a couple of times at my local AD and there's no denying that it's a stunning watch. If I didn't have the original Dark Side I would definitely go for this.
I wish they had kept the 42mm sizing of the Professional Speedy. And also wish they'd bring back smaller form factors in some way more akin to Speedmaster Reduced :/ Hooray for the use of ceramic. Makes the watch an easier buy 2nd hand.
I agree that this is the ultimate speedy. It has a more fun version of the moon watch calibre, plus all of DSOTM collection’s advantages (high tech ceramic, light weight), but without the coaxial movements’ thickness.
Greeting from sunny Dubai. Got mine about a month ago and requested the folding clasp and associated strap. I have tried many other speedies but this one is really very different. The luminous material in the bezel makes the watch standout even more in the dark None of the above is essential to tell the time of course but as a collector I must thank you for guiding us all. Omega should say thank you to you for an amazing review video
Hi Jenni, congratulations. Great to see this fabulous watch in such a bright and detailed setting. Go head and show us more of these iconic watches....
I had to watch this video again. The pure black of the watch with the yellow contrast is just stunning. I missed out on the PVD black Tudor Black Bay, but this Omega is just nicer to look at, examine in detail and has an open, clear back. God I love this watch. I could even live with the bigger size since 40 mil is my best fit.
I have been pricing this watch for a while and intend to get one making your video so timely. And for all he same reasons you describe! Great video, stay safe and be well!
Hello Jenni, I think this is the best speed master totally agree with you on this one, however the speedy CK2998 is also a kickass piece. I don’t own one yet but I will one day. It will just comedown to which of the 2 I’ll buy 🤓
I like this omega, was looking for some reviews about it and saw you. Although I do not understand English at all, I looked at the review with great pleasure, because you are the very charm. Thank you for the nice picture. :)
Thank you so much for reviewing this watch 😊I have had an interest in this Apollo 8 since Omega released it and your brilliant review has now placed it at the top of my grail watch list...for me it is the perfect Speedmaster - Thank you 😊👍
Wow.. that's one special watch. I'm not a fan of black watches but this one may have changed my mind. I don't know if I want to thank you for the review because now I have something I need to spend $10k on! My second nice watch and what cemented me as a watch addict was my broad arrow moon phase speedmaster. I absolutely wore the heck out of it and love it to this day even if it doesn't get as much wrist time. I have size 8 hands and 7.5" wrist, but I never found it difficult to wind it. Having a watch you have to wind connects you to it in a way I can't describe. I looked forward to my winding routine. It was the original fidget spinner. Thanks for the review and stay safe!
Great video Jenni. I just bought one of these 3 weeks ago and I love it. I had an ultraman for a few days but I filpped it for the apollo 8 because it was so similar to the standard speedmaster. I'm glad to see more great content made on the apollo 8. Watchfinder also made a great video about it.
For me the third register (and the price) makes the Apollo 8 the one for me. Something about the two dials on the DSOTM watches really turns me off, they don’t look ‘Speedmastery’ enough for me.
In the world nowadays in so much uncertainty, it is extremely refreshing to see your videos. I know that we all are stressed but thank you for taking the time to give us 10 minutes of ecstasy amidst all the chaos. I thoroughly enjoyed all of your reviews and I think you do an outstanding job keep up the great work. I can’t wait to see your next series of videos thank you.
jesse vassallo Agreed. Only the watch community could find a way to complain about having ample choice for style while still retaining quality and significance.
I do agree that it’s worth the be called the ultimate speedmaster but the original one is the all time speedmaster. Good job on your video, i am really looking forward for new videos 🙂
Hi Jenni. Thank you. Please stay healthy and stay safe. Another great video. I have the Omega Speedmaster Professional 3572.50. Only produced for a few years but has Hesalite front and Sapphire display back. I love this watch and gets the most wrist time. I agree with the wrist band being a scratch magnet and too many models being offered. I think the latter de-values the Speedmaster. It really is a shame. I think you have sold me on this particular model. It really is stunning and different. Will definitely put it on the list. Thanks again and stay safe.
I have a Speedy Pro manual steel, that was my daily driver for over a decade, and I didn't mind winding it every morning at all. It just became part of my routine. No biggie Sometimes I don't understand these comments. And I wear heavy and light watches all the time and after a few minutes I hardly feel them. Sometimes I have to check to remind myself of which watch I'm wearing. Maybe because I'm pushing a manual wheelchair and my arms are probably stronger than the average bear, but sheesh! Toughen up! Love these videos, though. Keep them coming. I especially loved the discussion on women and watches. Brava!
I think it's just personal preference and 'feel' on the wrist. Some prefer more heft on the wrist, some prefer less, and some don't care either way, like you (which means you get to enjoy it all!!)
Glad to see the Apollo 8 getting some more love. However, there are some points you introduce that I believe are misleading. The mention of a protected crown is highlighted as a negative, but it was designed that way to ensure it was protected from impact and lessen the chances of something getting caught under the crown. In my experience I have never had any issues with winding a speedy pro. I slide my index underneath the crown and it winds it perfectly, without the chance of over-winding. Second, you mention the clasp on the Speedmaster scratches easily and remind viewers that not all stainless steels are made the same. This implies that Omega is using a inferior steel. This is simply not correct. Omega like most brands in the industry are using surgical/marine grade 316L. This steel offers the best resistance to corrosion and allergies while still being cost effective to polish or replace. Rolex’s 904L “Oystersteel” is always mentioned as superior to 316L because of its higher corrosion resistance. This is simply not true. It is more corrosive resistant, but only when it applies to hydrochloric or sulfuric acid. If you’re in a situation where these acids are present, your watch is the least of your problems. Not to mention, 904L steel has a much higher nickel content that 316L which makes it less wearable to those effected with nickel allergies.
Hi Jenni, Excellent review and you do a great job of highlighting the features of this beautiful watch. I love the dial with its black and yellow color way. I’m drawn to the uniquely elevated indices and yellow hands which accent the handsome black face of the Speedmaster Apollo 8. Not sure I can pull the trigger on this timepiece at the moment due to the uncertainty of the market, yet I’m thankful for you bringing this watch to my attention. Great job!
Thank you for another great video. As a service provider in this time of turmoil, I face risk on a daily basis. It's nice to have a distraction. Cheers!
I agree with you that this one stands out from the sea of Speedmaster special editions. I like the look of it. I have a Speedmaster Racing myself - unfortunately can't justify swapping out for the Apollo 8 tho......
Many thanks for another outstanding video, I do have one of these in my collection and no video does it justice, These are now not so easy to get a hold off but i am lucky enough to have a fantastic OMEGA AD who i have now bought 6 watches from and they surprised me with the "we have something for you to look at " call, I was traveling and they kept it for 3 weeks until i returned. Anyway enough of that Story....... Simply love listening to your reviews
Great review beautiful watch. Like the yellow against black trim like the yellow markings on my Breitling Superocean Abyss. The Breitling has auto winding and is rated at 500m water resistance. So I'll just stay with that. Thanks for the great reviews!
while sitting home and watching watch videos I found this channel. Jenni you are doing an awesome job. What a great channel. I currently own a Omega wave seamaster and looking for something different and special without A Lang/sohne pricing :P
I struggle to pay so much for a Speedmaster. I’d rather get the moon watch for half the price which is the closest incarnation to the originals from the 60’s, which is why I did!
Watching a bunch of Speedmaster videos got me interested in the “other” moon watch, the Bulova Lunar Pilot. The price difference is astronomical (pun intended). I am one of those people that just can’t justify spending luxury brand amounts of money, especially when the comparable affordable watch performs better. But I really enjoy your videos, even when they are about watches I will probably never purchase.
Jon O I totally agree. The larger the watch, the less likely I am to wear it often. The Lunar Pilot is at the very limit of how large a watch that I will wear. Two or three millimeters off the diameter and lug-to-lug would have been nice.
I agree with you on this. Great video btw especially at this difficult time. Much needed distraction from all the doom and gloom. Best wishes to you and your partner. Keep well. 💐
That is the best looking Speedy IMO. It cost twice my budget though so I got the Speedy Sapphire Sandwich and I'm very pleased with it. If I were going to spend twice the money a few other watches would have to be taken into consideration.
This watch is so cool, as is your channel, Jenni. My ultimate Speedmaster would be the 44.25mm steel co-axial chronometer with 4 subdials, moonphase and date, but with the aventurine dial and 100 metre waterproof rating from the other 44.25mm beauty from 2012. Perhaps I'll just get one of each! The only problem would be that, in my dream, they would all morph into Rolexes! Why does that always happen in dreams and what does it mean?
Hi Jennie, thank you very much for the review, great video Would you have a link for the "custom" strap please, looks very nice but can't find it anywhere
The mission was in 1968 and not 1986 but i forgive you since numbers are spoken in a different order in german/english ;) And the fact that it actually says that on the watch shouldn't lead to any confusion. Nice review and i wish i could afford that beautiful watch.
Omega Speedmaster "Dark side of the moon" Apollo 8 is, undoubtedly, the most "Fun, Joy and Marvel" of all Speedmasters out there. Its price is steep but it bears it with aplomb ! I love it !
I agree on the automatic movement except in the moonwatch which is iconic. Personally, I find a hand wound watch a bit of a pain as a daily wearer, which is why I save the Speedy for weekends, etc.
3:17 "For the first time in 1986 Aldrin, Collins and Armstrong were the first humans on their Apollo 8 mission..."

I may be biased, but I agree 100%. I own only two Speedmasters. At 1967 321 speedy on a crock band with deployant clasp, and this wonderfully designed Apollo 8 Dark Side. The perfect pair.
This is the only black ceramic watch I would ever consider buying. Executed so well, the texture and depth of the dial is beautiful.

Great watch, but my favorite is the gray side of the moon🌒
I agree. The Grey Side is much more elegant and the ultimate tool/dress watch.
grey is so beautiful !
i have the meteorite grey side of the moon!!! love it!
I'm tempted for the blue side of the moon aventurine dial
Agreed, except that it has a very thick movement making it not very wrist friendly.
I wish they had kept the 42mm sizing of the Professional Speedy.
And also wish they'd bring back smaller form factors in some way more akin to Speedmaster Reduced :/
Hooray for the use of ceramic. Makes the watch an easier buy 2nd hand.
Hese Monni they have the current Speedmaster 38mm in black that is a modern reduced with a much better movement.
Look at the 'Omega Speedmaster First Omega in Space' as it's under 40mm.
It's great speedmaster.
I got one too.
Thank you Jenni for great review.

Omega's ceramic Speedmasters have been amazing. I can't decide if this, the original DSOTM, GSOTM, or BSOTM Moonphase is the best one to get.

For me the third register (and the price) makes the Apollo 8 the one for me. Something about the two dials on the DSOTM watches really turns me off, they don’t look ‘Speedmastery’ enough for me.

Thank you for this gorgeous content. We need it now, more than ever!
Thank you for another great video... to all youtuber and all the followers stay safe and be healthy...
thanks to bring us that such piece of art !
Great video, thanks Jenni. Personally I’m fond of the Speedy Mark II. That Super 70s Styling!
Another informative video presented with natural charm... keep safe!
Great Video with fantastic details pictures from a great watch. More from these 👍👍👍
I actually like the fact that there are numerous versions of the speedmaster.
jesse vassallo Agreed. Only the watch community could find a way to complain about having ample choice for style while still retaining quality and significance.
nice to have you here Mr Aeschlimann

Yeah! Spot on! And you won't be wearing an identical watch as every other guy in the room!
I do agree that it’s worth the be called the ultimate speedmaster but the original one is the all time speedmaster. Good job on your video, i am really looking forward for new videos 🙂
Also my favorite speedmaster and very very nice review.
Hi Jenni.
No biggie
Sometimes I don't understand these comments.
Cheers!
Fantastic macros! Especially that lume shot
Agreed! Its been my favourite ever since I saw it!
I agree with you that this one stands out from the sea of Speedmaster special editions. I like the look of it. I have a Speedmaster Racing myself - unfortunately can't justify swapping out for the Apollo 8 tho......
Yes. And I am still saving for mine.
Simply love listening to your reviews
hands down the best looking speedmaster out there!
Great review beautiful watch. Like the yellow against black trim like the yellow markings on my Breitling Superocean Abyss. The Breitling has auto winding and is rated at 500m water resistance. So I'll just stay with that. Thanks for the great reviews!
Thanks for another great video Jenni. This is definitely in my top 5 Speedmasters but top of the list wound is still the Speedy Tuesday panda.
while sitting home and watching watch videos I found this channel. Jenni you are doing an awesome job. What a great channel. I currently own a Omega wave seamaster and looking for something different and special without A Lang/sohne pricing :P
Great review Jenni. This is a lovely watch I’ve tried one on. The details are amazing I hope to own one in the future.
Another excellent show! Educational and entertaining. I agree that this ‘special’ does stand apart from the sea of speedmasters.
I would also really like to know how to obtain the clasp without purchasing a full replacement dark side strap. Great video.
You need to contact Omega....freaking expensive btw...strap is 250 and buckle $410.
I struggle to pay so much for a Speedmaster. I’d rather get the moon watch for half the price which is the closest incarnation to the originals from the 60’s, which is why I did!
You are paying for the ceramic. People like me who are alergic to nickle get shafted for options..
If only the Bulova came in smaller sizes.....40-43
Jon O I totally agree. The larger the watch, the less likely I am to wear it often. The Lunar Pilot is at the very limit of how large a watch that I will wear. Two or three millimeters off the diameter and lug-to-lug would have been nice.
I agree with you on this. Great video btw especially at this difficult time. Much needed distraction from all the doom and gloom. Best wishes to you and your partner. Keep well. 💐
It looks amazing, my favourite color is yellow and that moon surface is just amazing. So much effort compared to Rolex for the price.
Learn something new on this....thank you 🌙
That is the best looking Speedy IMO. It cost twice my budget though so I got the Speedy Sapphire Sandwich and I'm very pleased with it. If I were going to spend twice the money a few other watches would have to be taken into consideration.
Lovely review. I've never been drawn to watches with skeletonized dials. I wish they would have kept the interesting moon surface dial intact.
Hi Jenni, love your channel. Stay safe!
Great looking watch jenni, it would be great to own it. Keep up the good videos.
68 instead of 86, excellent review!
Hi Jennie, thank you very much for the review, great video
Would you have a link for the "custom" strap please, looks very nice but can't find it anywhere
Great video! A stunner of a watch. I guess I gotta start saving up 😊
5:33 It's a lateral clutch, not vertical.
Brilliant as always, thank you
World champion over 200m on the track Noah Lyles wears this one. So it really is speedy! Also my favourite
The mission was in 1968 and not 1986 but i forgive you since numbers are spoken in a different order in german/english ;)
And the fact that it actually says that on the watch shouldn't lead to any confusion.
Nice review and i wish i could afford that beautiful watch.
Although I still want the normal Speedy Sapphire Sandwich, if I could have two...I'd definitely want this one as well.
Great review, I like this watch, loving the channel 👍😎😀
Omega Speedmaster "Dark side of the moon" Apollo 8 is, undoubtedly, the most "Fun, Joy and Marvel" of all Speedmasters out there. Its price is steep but it bears it with aplomb ! I love it !
I love my Apollo 8!!
Favorite is Omega dark side of the moon. All the benefits of this watch with an automatic movement, a red tipped chrono hand and no skeletonized dial.
I agree on the automatic movement except in the moonwatch which is iconic. Personally, I find a hand wound watch a bit of a pain as a daily wearer, which is why I save the Speedy for weekends, etc.
