the whole time you were grinding with the carbide bit i was saying a prayer for you're eyes brother love the videos keep up the good work and grab some safety glasses my man!
Great video! My ujoint sounds exactly the same in reverse and now I know what I need to do so my truck doesn’t sound clapped lol you’re the man!
I just helped a buddy do his front and rear driveshaft u-joints, we used a ball joint press to do them. I've never seen your method, works great. Thanks for the video.
You saved me a lot of worry and headache. Thank you for all the great content
That duramax is gorgeous
Sweet tips and tricks! I like these videos that can translate to just about any vehicle almost, sorta how I like Tonythetechnicians camaro build videos for that reason. I learn a lot and really can help make you think outside the box in situations you might think you're stuck, and unable to complete a task.
My U-Joints looked the same. Dryer than the Sahara desert. Used a press, but a lil tappy tap never hurt nothin..
Great video Rustbelt brother
Crazy burnouts from the mod upgrade. Great video . Cant wait to see the dyno numbers on this.
Me too!!
I know a transmission repair shop that has replaced the tail shaft housing on the Allison automatics. They were from bad u joints ignored not being replaced, broke the tail shaft housing.
Just started to experience a similar noise when slowing down or coasting at like 10-25 mph, but not in reverse. Looked at the rear u-joints and the seal was cracked on one. How many miles did the truck have? How long in total time did it take you to swap out the ujoints
I know this is off topic from the video but couldn't find one of you working on steering components. I have a 2005 duramax with a 6" lift and I'm replacing the pitman and idler arm. My question is who makes good quality parts but that won't break the bank?
Already tearing up them u joints.🔥🔥🔧
Yup! Bound to find some failure points lol
You got a good deal on a super charged transmission nice
Yes
Hey those are the same safety squints I use!
Hahaha!! Generally works even though boss man doesn’t always approve🤷♂️
Snap on safety squints.
Wow Eric O posted on your channel!!! That’s the honor of all honors. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Dr O. Besides making NY proud he’s a great all round person. Big fan of his channel and what he does for the community. Thank You.
Heck yea too much powaaa!!
use a ball joint press...no banging cups in/out.
I’ve gotta ask, what have you got for a frame coating? I live in the rust belt too and wanting to show my 2015 2500’s frame some love.
Ziebart undercoated. It’s nice they touch it up once a year.
Rustbelt Mechanic thanks Duramax brother!
So on a standard height Duramax, I don’t have to be concerned with that carrier bearing adapter mod? True?
Correct, only on a lifted truck would you want to have a spacer to keep the drive line as straight as can be.
Rustbelt Mechanic
Thx for the response.
Did that seal replacement fix the issue. I have fluid on the underside of my bed and frame also but upon inspection the seal looks good but it's the slip yoke seal that is leaking near the U joint. Idk if I want to use a high temp sealant or replace slip yoke....1st world problems
In my case yes that fixed it. However another possibility on a lot of these is the dreaded pump rub in which case there is a pinhole leak in the rear case half.
@@RustbeltMechanic Good call. I will inspect my T case cover for the pinhole today. Man I hope I don't have to go all in on this T case haha
Hay Kyle. Did you buy the Snap-on ball joint press? If not get it immediately. It has the adapter for u-joins also. it will change your life I promise. Moog has excellent u-joints. Only two I use , moog and spicer
I have not but from what people are saying looks like I need to try that press out.
Just finished doing this last week on my 01 duramax
What ujoints did you use?
@@trollingyoass1 a moog super strength ujoint 281
no UTC U-Joint tool? makes that much easier than having to beat the u-joint out
Won’t disagree with that, just have never used that tool before. It’ll have to move to my short list.
excuse me I need a driveshaft for a 2012 four door 3500 chevy silverado dually 4×4 long bad
That's definitely what's going on with my LMM... 😭
That's not sling fluid, that's a self lubricated chassis.
Good way to look at it
I slam a little grease in there there good to go lol
Very long truck to have a carrier
Definitely sounds like a bad u joint
Bruh, you commented like 5 different times on this video 🤣
Wow those weren't that stuck. When you have to use the 3/4 inch gun and bj press, then yer in the RUST BELT lol
Can't believe you didn't get metal shavings in your eyes. Safety first.
Tc Higgz he was clearly wearing his safety squints!
