- A onepiece driveshaft conversion for my 2006 LBZ quad cab long bed Duramax. I used the drive shaft, rear axle pinion yolk, and u-joint straps out of a 2015+ 3500 quad cab long bed Duramax.

I braked really hard a few days ago and my solid aluminum drive shaft got yanked out of the transfer case and hit the ground while still moving forward. I detached it from the yoke, slipped it back into the transfer case, reattached it to the yoke just to get it home. I’m going to have it balanced, but on the way back home, it felt clunky. Taking off or coming to a stop it felt like something would almost quickly settle into place. Also, it looks like it’s not as far into the transfer case as yours. Perhaps the rear axle is twisted and/or out of alignment now.

Now you gotta go reshoot the changeover so we can see with light. Gotta make another trip to Wisconsin.
Now you can go polish your shaft!! If you want it shiny you'll have to polish it weekly.
You have a oem part number for the driveshaft?
Do you know the length from ujoint center to ujoint center? If not, would you mind measuring it for us?

It doesn’t work for the 2wd models because the transmission is spaced further more forward compared to one with a 4x4 transfer case

Would this work with a 02 2500hd 6.0 4l80e 4x4 truck are the yoke parts same rear ends? I dont know anything about the diesel trucks
You just have to have one made to fit your truck. People custom make driveshafts all the time. Have one made to fit what you have now
Do you have a part number on the drive shaft, rear axle pinion yolk, and u-joint straps? I have the identical truck and would like to do the same conversion. It appears that it is cheaper to piece the conversion kit together yourself rather than purchasing the preassembled kit.

I didn’t weigh it exactly but a guesstimate would be at least 20lbs lighter
