I swear if Chris Fix did a video on heart surgery then after watching it and getting pumped up with positivity I'd go out and attempt it.. Love ya videos Chris.. Every angle covered!
I was thinking more like knee or hip joint replacement surgery. I mean really, once you get over the aspect of working inside a human body it’s pretty mechanical use of tools etc. How hard can it be? Medical grade sawzall or Dremel to cut out the old part; drill some holes; titanium screws and bolts to install the new joint, lubrication. Done.
Only Chris would be the one to go to a junkyard and find a different style of driveshaft just to make sure all the bases are covered on the replacement of the U joint. You really outdid yourself. Awesome job man!!
I love how much you care about the subscriber and people who watch your videos, you got the whole drive shaft just to show us how it’s done, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate that thanks Chris.
Your videos are great. You don’t give us 10 min of non-sense jabber. You explain what your goal is and your step by steps are great. Easy to understand for even the novice. Anytime I do a “first time for me” on my vehicles, your videos are at the top of my list to watch first. Thanks for what you do!
At 50 years plus I can't tell you how many U-Joints I have replaced. From Toyotas to Chevys and Fords, but I actually learned something new watching this video. 3 Million subscribers and still responding to comments you indeed have a sub for life. Good Job Chris!
Chris, you're a wonderful instructor. I particularly like the way you clearly explain how to do each step, and then repeat the explanation. That's a very effective teaching technique. Many thanks.
GEEZ! This video pops up on my main page literally the day after i just spent $650 at the dealership to replace the drive shaft and U joints. I will check this channel before i take my truck anywhere ever again. U rock ChirsFix!
Oh, I think if Chris didn't edit his videos as much as he does, you'd find that it takes HIM a lot more than 22 minutes to see a project to completion. His brake fluid replacement video took probably an hour of prep before the camera even began rolling. He had the Mazda on no fewer than 4 jack stands and the differential was supported by a floor jack.
Thank you! For not only repairing your specific vehicle but showing every option people might come across and how to do it in many different ways! As well as the symptom’s actually driving your truck and showing some signs .Your the best automotive instructor on the planet
As a mechanic myself, I just LOVE LOVE watching your videos! You do everything thoroughly and right. Very professional work. Sadly, there aren't many mechanics out there that care for their job as much as they should though :(
Aslan Makhsudov true! Hey bro, cud use ur help if you dont mind? On my trucks drive shaft that connects to the alternator, I noticed splash of grease above it? What is it , transmission fluid??
@@D_Dowg626 Try topping off your blinker fluid in your radiator. I had the same issue where the oil pump fuse kept blowing out because of the static electricity of the floor mats. Do that and you'll gain a easy 50 whp and 8 psi of boost!

Your production quality is second to none Chris! I love the show Wheeler Dealers as it shows the technical side of car repairs. However, I’d much rather watch one of your videos. Discovery could learn a thing or two from you.
You know, for a decade I have been hopping on TH-cam to watch a maintenance video every time before I start a project. It helps me familiarize myself with the upcoming work. While it's been a massive help, I have always wished more from some of the guys that upload. Many videos (while helpful), really miss the mark to teach their viewers about potential conflict points. They have poor camera angles, they fail to mention differences between parts, and they generally stick to the exact parts that they have (viewer be damned if they have a different vehicle or not OEM part). I'm always able to figure it out anyways, however. I am absolutely amazed at the quality of your videos. Great angles, you don't skip over the trivial things (like showing all 4 bolts needing to be removed -- twice), you even take multiple moments to show different drive shafts and different u joints. As a guy who teaches a lot of folks about what I know, this video does an absolute bang up job in familiarizing people into the task at hand. Never seen a mechanic video of this caliber. I don't really subscribe to channels, but you've got me on board 100%. Keep this shit up dude!

Wow! I was searching for a video that shows the correct way to do universal joints on a pickup truck and I found it here! My grandson replaced his universal joints on a 1990 something, Chevy S-10 pickup and he now has extreme vibration! He had no experience to do so, and got himself in a whole lot of trouble now. I understand, that his driveshaft is the type with a center bearing, which probably made it worse. He marked nothing before he started, not knowing the correct procedure. I will send him this video link. I don't know if he will be able to overcome this situation. This video here is absolutely perfectly done, the best I have seen so far on TH-cam in all respects!

Wow I’m only 16 I just got my license, I don’t work on any of the cars I drive but I always find these videos soo entertaining, always watch till the end,. great videos Chris keep them coming!!!
I've been looking through several videos on how to do my u-joints and this is by far the most informative and best video quality and editing. What I thought was going to take me a while (I'm no mechanic) actually only took me under an hour. Just rented the press from the parts store and bought the upgraded joints thanks to your info. Thank you for the info.
I have been a mechanic for 42 years. I really enjoyed your video very informative. It I s great for someone who's never done anything like this before. Awesome job great video my man. Robert Moore
I have learned more about cars from you then I have learned in my 28 years put together, after I started watching your videos I went out and bought a rough 90 Supra and have brought it back to life thanks for all your hard work has saved allot of us so much money and frustration it's much appreciated
I could watch your videos all day!!! You are literally the only TH-camr I don't get tired of! I find these videos so entertaining!! Keep up the good work!!!
Just did my first install today after watching your video. I did the hammer trick because the joint was a little tight and it worked. Very straight forward, clear instructions and high quality videos. Just subscribed! Thank you so much.
I got my first car about a year after I started watching his videos, since then I have changed my cars oil, air filter, both front brake calipers, brake pads and rotors, brake lines, and rear wheel cylinders. I would be enslaved by dealerships and mechanics if it weren’t for Chrisfix
I was laying under my truck the other day and twisted the front drive shaft by hand. Found the source of a new vibration I noticed a few months ago. One of the u joints is going out. Unfortunately, the transfer case seal is leaking a little bit but not enough to drip. Looks like I will be fixing both issues very soon. I knew next time nothing about u joints till I found this video. Thank you. The task doesn't look so mysterious anymore.
Dude. Chris. I love you lol. I took my truck to several places and couldn’t figure out what’s going on. I did the steps to diagnose and that’s what it was. You’re a savior
First time replacing a u joint and when I was done it was super tight. Watched this video and I’m super happy you added that note in hitting the driveshaft a few times. 👍
After doing a uj job I think I would recommend going back and greasing the joints after a bit of driving. The movement seems to allow you to pump quite a bit extra grease in there. You'll get driveline vibration all over again if there's insufficient grease for the long haul.
This is one of the best U-joint videos I've seen. Great optical clarity in your images and your narration is way up there. Now I have the confidence to do my 06 Dakota.
I just found these videos and I am impressed. This guy is a great teacher. Clear and concise. Not only is he a great teacher and mechanic, but his videography skills and editing are first rate. Good Job Chris.
Your detailed video inspired me to revisit the u-joints on my 1960 Sprite. While I have the axle out for servicing all major seals, I had overlooked this part of the maintenance. The part about the grease displacement from the bearing boots is a great one because I had thought I was putting grease in, but on 2nd review the nipples needed to be freed from old dried grease. What gave me confidence that I could get grease in via the nipples was a test squirt with the gun before reinstalling. The final part being the grease that is displaced out the boot.. She looks ready for work now. Cheers!!
I love this guy!! I just recently started working in the automotive industry and these videos Chris creates have tremendously helped me understand the tasks that the technicians must complete. Thanks for your work and attention to detail.
When people carry their vehicle to a shop, you are the person they are looking for to work on it. Someone who cares about the quality of work they do not found nowadays. Great job!
Another great how to video Chris! Your videos are incredibly detailed giving the viewers all the information they need to get over the intimidation factor! Well done!
He's back! :-) Outstanding video Chris. The same type of joints with clicking and clunking can also be found in your steering column. I replaced my intermediate shaft recently. I bet the road salt used in the winter got into those joints and helped make them worse.
I really appreciate that enthusiasm you put on every video, feel so confident to fix any need of everything related with that maintenance of cars thanks so much
One of the best videos I've ever watched on fixing a car. I'm replacing the entire drive shaft and I was going to have my brother-in-law do it, but I know I can do it after reviewing this video. And I won't even have to touch the U-joints. Thank you so much!
Hey Chris, thanks for the wonderful vid. I replaced my rear u joint in our old family truck, and she rides smoother and quieter. The squeaking has ceased, and I’m happy. Wouldn’t of had the confidence to try it without your help. Keep up the good work.
Lol...I can relate. Two I was able to get on but the other two is half on and wont budge or move any further. I have to now pay a mechanic to fix my problem.
@@oneloveyessah watch out sometimes you will accidentaly knock the roller pins into the bottom of the cab and you will not be able to fully install the ujoint and if you force to hard you will break the loose needle pin
After driving 50 yrs. I know that dreadful sound and what it most likely is. Husband and I looking at a used car now, he came home said a clunk in reverse. I will try it today and if I hear it I need a backup to let the guy selling I know what it is so I looked online and found you. Thanks for info great job and now I will have backup if I hear the sound. Most men dont listen to women so I needed backup on the diagnosis if I need it.
Do trim restore please!!! I have a Honda Element with all plastic panels and I’ve seen a lot of videos videos but i don’t know which one is good since a lot of them have different types of reviews. Keep up the good work tho!

This has to be, hands down, the best video on u-joint replacement on TH-cam. I feel confident tackling this job on my own now. Thanks a ton, man.
Thanks! Let me know how it goes!
Finally somebody using TH-cam for something worthy thanks keep up the good work👨🏫🛠👌
Thanks! Glad the video was helpful
I'm glad you found the video helpful and you got the upgraded joints!
*scrolling through TH-cam*
*notification that ChrisFix has a video*

You haven't seen his other ones then 😁
I could watch your videos all day!!! You are literally the only TH-camr I don't get tired of! I find these videos so entertaining!! Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks a lot man! That means a lot!
Just did my first install today after watching your video. I did the hammer trick because the joint was a little tight and it worked. Very straight forward, clear instructions and high quality videos. Just subscribed! Thank you so much.
Honestly I'm 16 and don't have a car but I still love to watch your videos
Thanks for the support James!
Its ok
I'm 9 and ik alot
Even I'm 16 but love watching his videos , I'm a car enthusiast n wish to become an automobile engineer
I got my first car about a year after I started watching his videos, since then I have changed my cars oil, air filter, both front brake calipers, brake pads and rotors, brake lines, and rear wheel cylinders. I would be enslaved by dealerships and mechanics if it weren’t for Chrisfix
YES NEW CHRISFIX VIDEO it brings a BIG smile to my face when your video pops up in my notification feed
Thanks a lot man!
ChrisFix your videos are my favorite ones to watch when it comes to car repair and maintenance!
I'm old school. we replace them when they break. It's simple to do this job without dorections. Chris your channel is great.
So once you see the driveshaft in your rear view is when you decide to replace the u joints? Very dangerous sir...
@@AdrianMartinez-eb9wu check things regularly and you usually know when something isn't acting right and it's actually time to replace it
I was laying under my truck the other day and twisted the front drive shaft by hand.
You have one of THE best automotive channels. Amazing explanations. Great voiceovers. Just perfect videos. Bravo sir.
Thanks a lot!
By far, the best automotive repair videos on the internet, bar none. Thanks, Chris.
Thanks for making these videos. I would have never known how to fill up my blinker fluid with out your help.
haha I am glad you are learning a lot!
Dude.
Superb as always!!
Thanks!
Lmao SuperB is actually a car. :D
That's pretty cool that Advance Auto Parts sponsors these videos. I usually go to Advance to get what I need for my Acura 3.2TL
As a backyard mechanic and a presenter, I can say this is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen. Perfection all the way. Extremely well done.
Absolutely Great tutorial! I have never done u joints and I don't need to now. I don't even know how I got here , but I'm glad I did. Thank you!!!
Can’t beat a Chris fix video 👊🏻
Thankssss
ChrisFix 👌🏻
Nope! But you can beat your wife! :)
HiptonismHD 😂😂😂
HiptonismHD haha
This is one of the best U-joint videos I've seen. Great optical clarity in your images and your narration is way up there. Now I have the confidence to do my 06 Dakota.
Dont do it. I regret trying to do it myself.
I commented a couple years ago about helping my cousin change a u-joint. Yesterday I did my own. On my own. Thank you ChrisFix!
I'm a car guy i see ChrisFix i press like :)
Thanks
ChrisFix love your videos bro !!
ChrisFix when you gonna super charge the mustang bud 🤔
we want more videos man
im a car guy and a simple guy
I just found these videos and I am impressed. This guy is a great teacher. Clear and concise. Not only is he a great teacher and mechanic, but his videography skills and editing are first rate. Good Job Chris.
Thanks a lot!!
lmao, perfect timing. I literally have to change a U-Joint this week and ChrisFix posts about the very topic. No excuses for me now lol.
Perfect!!! Glad the video was helpful!
Cheers!!
I've replaced many u-joints, even using the methods you used in this video, and I still watched the whole thing. Good stuff..
I love this guy!! I just recently started working in the automotive industry and these videos Chris creates have tremendously helped me understand the tasks that the technicians must complete. Thanks for your work and attention to detail.
I don't know if my joints need replaced but I'm certainly inspired to do so.
Awesome!
When people carry their vehicle to a shop, you are the person they are looking for to work on it. Someone who cares about the quality of work they do not found nowadays. Great job!
Another great how to video Chris! Your videos are incredibly detailed giving the viewers all the information they need to get over the intimidation factor! Well done!
Thanks! That’s the goal. This stuff isn’t hard once you know what to do.
I never thought I could do mechanical work until I saw this guy, his teaching and method is so easy to follow, and very practical thanks heaps mate
Definitely!
He's back! :-) Outstanding video Chris. The same type of joints with clicking and clunking can also be found in your steering column. I replaced my intermediate shaft recently. I bet the road salt used in the winter got into those joints and helped make them worse.
Thanks and yes. I was going to include that info but decided to focus on the drivetrain only
It's no wonder why you rate at the very top for auto repair videos. You couldn't have explained things better.
Love all ChrisFix articles. Since seeing a few of his videos saved thousands and thousands of dollars in repairs itself without seeing a mechanic
That’s awesome Eric!
I'm glad you've saved thousands with the videos! Thanks a lot!
I really appreciate that enthusiasm you put on every video, feel so confident to fix any need of everything related with that maintenance of cars thanks so much
Thanks! Glad the video was helpful!
Outstanding presentation! It's been almost forty years since I last replaced a U-joint. This was an excellent refresher. Well done ChrisFix
Wow you did a heck of a repair!... Please tell me where you got that U-joint!:)
who else wants Chris to upload more!?
One of the best videos I've ever watched on fixing a car. I'm replacing the entire drive shaft and I was going to have my brother-in-law do it, but I know I can do it after reviewing this video. And I won't even have to touch the U-joints. Thank you so much!
By far one of the best instruction videos I have ever seen! Not one "um, uh" or anything even close! Very polished! Thank you!
Hey Chris, thanks for the wonderful vid. I replaced my rear u joint in our old family truck, and she rides smoother and quieter. The squeaking has ceased, and I’m happy. Wouldn’t of had the confidence to try it without your help. Keep up the good work.
That's what I love to hear! Thanks a lot!
You make it look so easy. I’ve been at it since 11am. It’s 6pm now lol about to through truck in trash lll
I’ve changed hundreds of u-joint of all sizes and this guy nailed it, do what’s in this video and your gtg
Chris, I'm surprised that you didn't paint the bracket. It always looks so good when you clean up all the rust and paint everything.
Making a complete cylinder head service by chris fix, thats will be awesome!
Good idea
That’s a cool idea actually!
Im stoked of that!
Good idea
You’re a very gifted teacher my friend. I really appreciate the video.
The man, the myth, the legend is finally back!!! 🙇
Oh I've been back. Theses videos take forever and add horrible weather and it takes a while to finish one!
ChrisFix Worth the wait my friend! 👌
ChrisFix it’s all about quality
I thought you'll say at the end was martiiiiiiiiiiiiin. 😂
Fantastic presentation. I was actually scared away from this repair after watching a certain famous channel using his own quick method but now I'm ready to tackle the faulty driveshafts I have..
Thanks Chris! I'm doing an engine swap on my uncle's 1965 Bel Air and couldn't figure out how to take off the drive shaft. Thanks!
No problem! Good luck with the swap!
If you're doing an engine swap and can't figure out how to take off a drive shaft that's so easy please hire a professional
art vandelay dude, everything has an inch of grease and we have limited tools. And I'm only 14, and this is my first swap.
America's Firstborn your dad must be awesome!
Wafa Mohidin he is a very good guy, he taught me everything I know!
