This video should be provided with every purchase of a GV15. I just added an SSD to my machine, and it couldn't have been any easier, especially with this video.
i just bought this computer for my son. I know eventually I'm going to want to upgrade it. I wish your business was closer to me!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to post this!
thanks i just got me one of those and i am glad you made this video cause i am planning a full upgrade as you did and i have the parts being shipped now :) thank you again
Great video! thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, MSI did not make the back strip cover's clips very strong. I broke 4 very small clips trying to close it up again 😥
Thank you so much for the detailed guide on how to upgrade a laptop of this model. I did everything as you did! And everything is perfect! All the best to you and family prosperity! Hello from California
Good to watch, thanks! Late in 2021 I bought an MSI GF63 Thin i7 10SCXR (it looks identical to yours). Amazingly inexpensive (16 GB RAM, 512 GB Kingston SSD). Am a mechanical HDD fan from the '80s, so I stuck a 2 TB Seagate LM015 2.5" HDD in the unit. The bracket hardware MSI includes to mount the HDD was partly missing--so had to contact them--they sent the wrong bits. Anyway, a cheaper system with good performance, taking less than 20 sec to boot :-) and it even runs MSFS in 2024 acceptably!
I also have an msi laptop. A step up from this. But I’m forced to use and external ssd because my storage gets full quick. I also don’t want to max out internal storage and just run like that day to day This video is helpful about cloning and everything. What would kind of internal ssd would you recommend to upgrade to. I use it for gaming. Also can you upgrade processor or gpu? Thanks for making the video keep ‘em coming! Also what do those 2 16 gb ram do compared to 1 8gb. What does it help. One last q. Are internal ssd’s universal size wise for laptops. Are ram universal in size. Or do I need ones specifically for my laptop. Thanks if you got a minute for some info!
This comment is old so you might have upgraded already, but in case anyone else is wondering: I have this exact model and bought a 2TB Crucial PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.2 SSD. It's perfect for this model, but I'd still double check if it's a different MSI!
Thank you for the instructions. I followed along and changed out my ssd and ram and it seems like everything is working great. The only thing is the computer doesn’t want to turn on if it isn’t plugged in. Once it’s on it can be unplugged and works great but it doesn’t want to turn on with just the battery. Have you ever heard of that happening?
Realy good video but o jave a question for some reason on the crucial websight it shows that the mx500 isn't compatible with my laptop even though it's the same one as yours
I know I'm not Dale with all his infinite wisdom however, It is rarely possible to upgrade your laptop CPU since the early 2000s unless you can find a motherboard with the exact same layout with everything in the correct spot. Short answer: No.
@@nathanb4390 so the only way would be if your current motherboard was capable of supporting a better model of processor than what's in it currently I guess
I got the exact same model 15 days ago and I didn't find any bracket inside for 2.5 inch. So I asked shopkeeper he said it's come like this. What a liar. But he did upgrade for me by putting sticky tape on both sides.
I was able to play some basic games without any problems before upgrading it. Was playing games like halo, little nightmares 2 and bioshock infinite just fine. Had to upgrade the ram to play elden ring.

Do you need to format the new ssd before cloning?

If I am only replacing the ram do I not need to disconnect the battery?
Just be very careful if you do not disconnect it. Better safe than sorry though.
Thanks! Is the ram safe to install without disconnecting the battery as long as I don’t drop a screw on the motherboard?
I upgraded and add 16gb of ram and 512gb of storage to my msi laptop and it’s now stuck on msi click bios any reason why?
What about windows? How do you reinstall it?

pon la pantalla a 60hz ya que por default viene con los 144hz y gasta más batería
