      The FDA doesn't recommend it in any of the home electric pressure cookers. Something to do with no being able to very the correct Temps and pressures. T-Fal makes a pressure cook and pressure canner that is supposed to be approved for that use though.

    I just bought the older 9-in-1 model and I'm conflicted. The SmartLid is Out of Stock everywhere here in the UK, but when available it seems to cost the same as the 9-in-1 model I just purchased. Should I return mine and wait for the SmartLid to come back in stock?
    I hate buying kitchen appliances. There's way too many models, and every single one has its cons and pros over the alternative. I spent few months trying to decide which Kitchen Aid mixer to pick.

    • @JoesPhenomenal

      I personally like the smart lid version better.... for me, it's mostly due to not having to find a place to store the other lid. Most functions work about the same though. Here goes a video a did a while back doing a direct comparison between the two that you might find helpful: th-cam.com/video/z_naSO8W5IA/w-d-xo.html

      I was looking at the reviews for the ones with the probes. Pretty much everything works the same as the non probe version, except you get a readout of internal temp of your meat as well. It's a nice option to have, for sure. If I did it again, I'd probably go with the probe version, myself.

    I've always had Instant Pots. I've got a Pro Crisp. I like it more for the pressure cooking than the air frying.
    The Ninja is very complementary. Better as an air fryer than the Instant Pot. The ceramic pot and fryer stand is easier to clean. But the Foodi still gives me another pressure cooker to work with. Sometimes I just want 2.

    Can we cook acidic food (adding lemon jucie) in pressure mode in 15 in 1 ? Is it safe for non stick coating for the bowel and for the lid, what is the lid material and the heating ring made of, are stainless ?

    • @JoesPhenomenal

      I use lemon a lot for cleanup. The bowl is carbon steel with a nonstick coating I think. Not sure what the heating element is made of though. It should be non-reactive to acidic food though... At least you would think it would. It doesn't say anywhere that I can see what it's made of.

    Hi i have never owned a pressure cooker I am considering buying one of these, I am wondering if it is possible/how to prevent the steam from condensing in the kitchen and causing dampness?

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use mine on my island to avoid that all together... It doesn't produce as much steam as I thought it would though, so that's not a super big problem in most cases. If you use it sitting on your stove under your range or microwave vents, that might help though.

    How do you clean the inside of the smart lid if it can’t be removed?

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      It's a little easier than their last gen machine. The last one had that separate pressure cooker lid that could be cleaned pretty easily, but the air crisp lid was attached and had that big metal cover on it. This is essentially like that but without the cover. So you throw in some water and lemon juice and you can run a pressure cook cycle on it, and they cleans it up pretty nice if you haven't let it get really dirty... Also, you can get several kinds of brushes that have long handles on them and scrub up and around the heating element also.... Thought about doing a video about how to do all that.

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't have the counter space for the 8qt, but I think it's worth it if you do. I love the smart lid variant, but I really didnt like having to find space for the pressure cooking lid all the time in a drawer. They're both great machines though, IMO

  • @tosoja9714

    How about the cleaning of lid since the heating element seems to be exposed to the food one is cooking

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The smart lid version of those machines are still a little easier, since getting behind the grate on the old style one involves removing parts, but it's still not super easy working around that heating element.. especially around the fan. With some long brushes it's not too bad though...just a little tedious, also you can steam clean the whole thing. I do have a cleaning video for that thing here.... It might help out: th-cam.com/video/Y7lksA_17Ao/w-d-xo.html

    Currently as of November 29th 2024, trying to find one is impossible. Walmart is the only store that sells this model apparently, which is nowhere near me, and on top of that I’m reading things online saying this product is being discontinued. If you go on the ninja website, you won’t see any of their pressure cookers listed. Might be because of the lawsuits filed on their pressure cookers. (IN THE US) Oh btw it’s well above $400 dollars now.

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jeremy8517 Ninja and a few other companies have discontinued them over the lawsuits, so what you see is probably just leftover stock. Until that gets cleared up, you probably won't see new ones from them and whoever else has models pending with similar complaints. There's other companies that make decent substitutes though. I just reviewed a Chef IQ that I thought was pretty interesting, but there's several out there.

      Hi Suzanne! Yes... Ninja goes off the rails with their model numbers. A lot of times the numbers are different for different retailers and offer slightly different stuff. I'm a fan of the smart lid... I hated having to use drawer space for my pressure cooking lid... And I thought the machine looked weird with it on there and the other lid flipped open.. Haha. I could do a fridge review... Would need to go get a new one for that though... Might be tough to get a manufacturer to send one for review.. Lol.. What I can tell you off the top of my head though it that typically companies that also make cell phones and computer screens don't make very reliable refrigerators... And also, any fridge that has the ice maker inside the refrigerator part and not in the freezer tend to have problems with the ice makers breaking or dropping water... It's hard to keep the ice maker cold in there...

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @JoesPhenomenal
      @JoesPhenomenal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I remember that happening to me once also. If it is happening to you and you just used it, it means there is pressure inside, and it's locked for safety so you have to releave the pressure with the pressure valve on top. If you haven't, the rubber seal might be in there crooked and it's putting pressure on the lid, so you might be able to push down on the lid and move the slider at the same time if that's the case.

The friend just had a second one delivered a few days ago so we could take it to our lake house. We have even given a couple as gifts. And we use ours regularly. It is a killer for warming up leftovers. It is killer for warming up fries when you bring them home from the fast food place. It is killer for cooking a lot of things. It does its job fast and it does it well. This is simply one of the best items that you will ever spend money on for preparing food.
