Do you have a multi-function pressure cooker? If so, whatcha got? If you liked this video, you might like this pressure cooked philly cheesesteak as well! th-cam.com/video/ENAStT_Djhc/w-d-xo.html
Very good video Joe! I could have have bought this Chef IQ but I instead chose to buy (yesterday) the Instant Pot Pro Plus with Wi-Fi 6-quart (5.6 L). The Chef IQ lost me immediately when I saw that it had a non-stick pot instead of a stainless steel pot like the Instant Pot. The non-stick coating on the Chef IQ will wear out over time and one will ingest teflon as a seasoning on their food or whatever they put on it as a non-stick and then the food will start sticking to the aluminum underneath at which point one will also have aluminum as an additional seasoning. Stainless steel is a far safer cooking surface than aluminum coated with non-stick finishes. The instant Pot pot is even induction compatible so I can put the stainless steel pot on top of my induction stove to brown meats for example and then grab the pot by its handles to return it into the pressure cooker for final cooking. Similarly, the Instant Pot also has an app for Android and the iPhone that allows one to control the cooking process through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and there are over 2K recipes. Lastly, I needed a multi-cooker that allowed me to make yogurt at custom temperatures in order to make therapeutic yogurts with probiotics that require precise fermentation temperatures. Some higher-end models from Instant Pot allow you to do that. The Chef IQ only ferments at 110°F according to the manual; a temperature that's a few degrees too high for some of the probiotic species I will be working with.
Well, I was planning on doing a direct comparison to the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker if this video does well since I have one of those here... Kinda weird though. It looks like a lot of companies have stopped making pressure cookers to do a rash of exploding lids. I know Ninja stopped making them, outright.. at least through their website that is.
Hi, I just wanted to say I know I’ve written before but I just wanna say thank you for all of your videos that you do thank you for always talking about what things look like and how to operate things because I’m totally blind and I just want to thank you for you being so thorough in your reviews and you talk about how even though this has a screen it has a dial so that you can do your options and I think that’s amazing that you would talk about that so I just want to thank you so much for that I hope you have an amazing day and I hope I get to hear from you.
Another great video Joe. I've had my new IQ two days now. Easy to set up and I'm not very tech savvy. My only complaint (so far) has to be that even though I believe I have the "done beep" volume all the way up, it's still way to low. A few feet away and I hardly hear it at all. Awesome unit though and cool looking!
😋 Hi Joe, the Chef IQ has to be the best pressure cooker on the market... Its got me wanting to buy one seeing your delicious served up meals... Never knew they could even do sear... With the menu and app you just want to cook Mmm Mmm Mmm
Chef Joe never fails! Literally on my third video in a row. The First video I ever saw from this channel though, was the one about the Foodi Ultimate blender, got one and was like ooooook. Then wanted a Foodi pressure cooker but now that ain’t happening, unfortunately, I mean it’s out there if you don’t mind a warranty-less item that costs half a grand, no thanks. But now seeing this Vader look alike (totally agree btw), I’m like OOOOOOOOK.
Nice video, Joe. I have an InstantPot but my wife hates how it can burn a bit too often (low liquid). I have the ChefIQ temp probs and love them One unrelated note: If you do a focus lock on the camera you use, it will stop focus fighting when you are pointing and interacting with the product.
Thanks! I have auto-defocusing set up on my camera, and I always forget to turn that off for the close ups... I always catch it too late when I get to editing. It's all on 1 camera, so I have to move it a lot. Thought about just getting a second camera to just use for that types of shots so I don't have to think about it.
Definitely valid conern. The machine still works fine without using the app, but you lose the included recipes if it just stopped working. Also, if the app were to go away, and you factory reset the cooker for some reason, it might not be able to set up again without the app? Guessing on that one, but it was required on initial setup before.
The Pot is aluminum with a nonstick coating. Chef IQ doesn't specify what that coating is, but it doesn't say that it's ceramic or anything like that, so I have to assume that it's probably Teflon.
I need to send you a message photo of my Ninja 15-1. This idea of the lid/airfrying being difficult to clean is just not true. I set mine to steam once a month with some vinegar and lemon juice, a squirt of dawn. It looks almost as good as the day I bought it new. I WILL say however that adding airfry capability to a pressure cooker is really hard. In the Ninja, this feature is what leads to most failures and problems.
You’re probably the only person on earth that can answer, does the 6qt instant pot stainless steel inner pot work in this? I use a immersion blender so this is useless without SS
@ no rush, ordered anyway. $99 at Costco and lifetime returns if the app stops. Another thing is I want the typhur dome air fryer, have you ever seen that?
@trumpdrago517 I haven't used one of those yet. Nice looking fryer though. You know those are $170 off right now for black Friday on the typhur web site.
Defintely can be... If you're reeaaaalllly green at making food the hand-holding is nice, but most people with outgrow that stuff right away. Machine works nice though, and I like the scale too.
I dunno about the changes that have occurred to it over time... Pretty new to me though and seems pretty advanced. That fact that so many companies have quit making pressure cookers helps them stick out even more though.
You should have said it requires the app in the first place to set it up to be able to use it. Thanks for wasting my time and money buying this thing that doesnt want to work without the whole app shit.
You know.. I had to go back and look at that based on your comment, because I was sure I mentioned the downside of that app, and sure enough, I talked about that and how I disliked it in the unboxing video, but didn't mention it in the review. I apologize for that, as I don't know why I left that out. However, you only need that app for initial setup to get it on your wifi, and then you don't really need to deal with the app anymore. I just use the touchscreen on it, and never pull the phone app up at all, but no smart phone means you can't even set it up. Sorry you had to waste time on it, the whole point of my doing these things is to try to help people do the exact opposite, so I apologize to you. Maybe you can at least do a return on it.

Thanks that helped me decide!! Going for the pro!
@onesam2go You're welcome. I'm glad I helped at least one person. ☺️
Hmm... Good stuff. Might have to check that out. Thanks for the info!
That's what it's all about, my friend.
Thanks I'll check it out now
Only thing we need to know is how this compares to the instant pot!

Thanks Crystal! Nice to talk to you again. I remember you from before. Glad you're enjoying the videos!
Great review Joe! Looks like a great machine, especially for someone moving out of home that needs some guidance in cooking. Great detail!
Thanks!

Thanks! I agree with you there. The tones are pretty quiet on it. Polar opposite to Ninja's Ear Piercing finishing beeps.
Please give me directions for preparing Jasmine rice in this pressure cooker.

It's really cool.... At first I was a little disappointed that it didn't include Air Frying, but it also makes it way easier to clean.
Can you replace the non stick pan with a stsinless somehow?
If you find one that will fit, it should work out... I know Instant pot makes them, so as long as the measurements are close, it should be OK.
Can you please give me directions on preparing Jasmine rice with this pressure cooker? Thank you, Joe.
I'll have to look into that and get back to you on it. I've done pressure cooked calrose rice, but not Jasmine yet.

My one concern is what if the company goes under and the app is no longer available? Is this piece of kit just defunct from then on?

It allows ota updates so if they go under they’ll make the api public or atleast they should
Thanks for the info
Should... That's the key I suppose.
I wanted it until i saw the nonstick pot
Same! I would rather have stainless steel!
@kjirstenlarson5085 yeah... That's most people's bug complaint on these.... If not that, at least a ceramic coating instead maybe.
Same!
Is the pot stainless steel ?

Is yours the smart lid version or the one with everything in that one lid?
@@JoesPhenomenal NINJA Foodi SmartLid OL750EU. One lid, does everything.
@0rtmasta what do you do to clean behind the splash guard? I just remove it to do that.
Maybe chef IQ will come out with chef IQ smart air fryer
Maybe. I was a bit surprised that there wasn't an air fry function on this... But then again, not having that makes is waaaay easier to keep clean.

I will have to see if I can get exact measurments on one of those to see if it will fit in there.
@ that’d be AWESOME eyeing one for BF
@trumpdrago517 will try to do that when I get back... Out of town for Thanksgiving.

It seems like it, but it really is easy once you start messing with it.
The tech in this is kinda over the top. The scale feature is nice though.

Strange things you dont see is turkey
Might be tough to fit one of those in there unless you get a freakishly small one.
Or venison
