I'm a Mopar guy but I'm definitely a fan of the 2018 F-150s. Few things I'd change, I'd definitely get the 5.0L and also not a fan of the new headlights, they might as well as connected one headlight to the other! Also I'm in Canton, and you're spot on seeing test mules around metro Detroit and seeing new cars a couple years before they're released for the public.
I remember my dad bought a 2002 F150 XLT sport brand new for $22k. Now as XLT is $50k. Just to get Leather and LED headlights it will cost you $60k Insane!
Just bought a 2017 with the 2.7 Eco a couple months ago. IT'S A BEAST!! I love it to death, it's so powerful and smooth. AND I average 22 mpg. Not too bad for a crew cab 4x4 and a lead footed driver!
Nah... I've heard good things about the 10 speed, but the 6 speed is tried and true, and I'm not sure I would like the truck shifting all the time. Plus, I got the truck for 5K under invoice. Couldn't have gotten a deal like that on the 2018s.
Great trucks! I got my 2018 XLT 4WD Crew Cab 2.7L Ecoboost from Tom Holzer Ford a few weeks ago and I love it. The dealership is an hour away from my house, but they were the only shop that had the particular truck I wanted. It was actually the first time I visited their dealership and I was impressed.
My '16 Special-Edition XLT is very similar to that, plus I have the Bliss tail lights and the Roof. The 5.0 makes it for me though. Had to have that. Glad you had fun with that-one. They're a blast
I have a 2014 super crew 3.5 Eco Boost and I love it!! It's extremely quiet and has plenty of pep when you put your foot down.. everything I drive is a ford at work we have everything from a f-150 to the f-550s . My boss drives a f-350 with the gas motor and it has plenty of power to plow snow/ pull trailers with equipment on them and he loves it it's a '12 and it has like 350,000 on it and still going strong haha
I have a 2016 F150 XLT 4X4 super crew with the 2.7 eco boost and the 3.55 rear axle. I must say that this motor is extremely fast. I'm getting 23 mpg at 65 mph. I couldn't be happier. This model also has over a 12,700 lb towing capacity.
sheldon blankenship I would not tow that much weight, however that is what the owners manuel and the dealership states. I currently tow 8,600 lbs with no problems at all. Will the vehicle tow 12,000 lbs, absolutely. Would I recommend it? No. The F-250 would be my choice.
Daniel Bell the super crew 4X4 with the 2.7 is listed in the owners manuel as having a Max tow capacity of 12,700 lbs with the 3.55 axle and the HD tow package. I've read this myself in my owners manuel. If you disagree with Ford that's fine. I'm simply stating what Ford claims. The tow capacity is reduced when you have 2 wheel drive and if you have the extended or regular cab. I know guys who won't tow with anything less than an F-350 dually with the 6.7 powerstroke. That's great, if you feel safer I say go for it. But if you don't have a $75,000.00 budget you can tow 10,000 lbs. safely with your F-150 4X4 super crew. I do recommend a load stabilizing hitch and a good trailer break system. I'm going to upgrade to a fifth wheel soon and I will be upgrading to an F-250 with the 6.7 powerstroke. But for now my current rig is safe and well within limits.

Ford needs to get with the program and put LED headlights and taillights standard on all F150 models, LED daytime running lights would be nice also. I have a 2015 F150 XLT extended cab 4x4 leased and the lease will be up in 7 months and I'm not sure if I will get another one. People think I'm crazy but I want LED headlights and I don't want to have to spend another 8 grand just to get them.
Very nice truck, always been a Ford guy but the prices and the fact that people cannot work on them anymore( because there designed to make you bring them back to the dealer) will keep me with my truck. Mines a 2000 Ford f250 v10 by the way, reliable and love it.

Recently bought a 2013 F150 V8 5.0, was going to buy an Ecobooat until I drove the 5.0. I was sold and researched after the fact that the V8 is a better engine.
That same truck in the 5.0 is what I'm looking to get. And the 5.0 will pull whatever x marks you have plus some. We use to pull heavy landscaping equipment in a sport trac v6. So you don't need a 250 for landscaping. Or even masonry for that matter
Nope but you do if you want to plow snow commercially. The 5.0 is nice, but the chassis is not going to hold up by any means. Otherwise, a half ton would be fun to run indeed.
Maybe you can buy both Ford F-150 and Ford F-250 super duty pick up trucks at same time. That will be even more amazing. Please keep us posted on which f series pick up truck that you buy and used it.
I own a 2017 4x4 5.0 liter XLT crew cab. hauls great! wish the payload was a little better but air lift suspension upgrades fixes that. might wanna look into those. takes the squat out of the truck and lightens the work on the engine.
That makes absolutely no sense. The weight is still there, the drag is still there. All that the air bags would do is reduce the amount of suspension rake, nothing more.
3 years later, buying the exact truck with 16,500 miles except mine has the dual moon roof - $35k 😎. Original tag was $55k. Patience is a virtue when it comes to buying vehicles.
I really like the new Nissan Titans. Quite honestly, all the current trucks (Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Dodge, Chevy/GMC, even Honda) look good to me so long as they are not the base models, but the prices get up very high in a hurry.
Nice Review. Those new 2017/2018 F150s are great trucks: More power this year, 1MPG up this year, 10 Speed Auto - but a little pricey. Decision F150 vs F250, depends how much weight you tow and how often. The F150 now is rated at approx. 11,000 lbs. max towing. But doing that weight everyday would break something prematurely and gas mileage would be like 8 to 9 MPG. I think the F150 could handle 4,000 lbs daily without issues to worry about. I like the sound of the V8 Coyote, but it cant out tow the 3.5 TT Ecoboost. The 2.7 TT Ecoboost is a little rocket in short runs, fuel efficient and cheaper cost. The 2018 F-150 3.5 Eco has two fuel injectors per cylinder (1 direct, 1 intake vale). With an aftermarket tuner, exhaust & intake upgrade, this 3.5 Eco could have at least 410 Hp & 550 Ft Lbs Torque. Yep, the 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel would be a good towing engine, better fuel economy, I believe the Jaguar Land Rover would make this engine. In the Land Rover, this engine makes 254 HP & 440 lb-ft torque. Currently, I would prefer the 2018 3.5 Ecoboost engine.

I settled on the F-150 XLT sport with the limited edition package like in this video. 2.7L V6 Eco boost(don't have too much to tow except my bike and mower), with the 302a package. Sync 3(no navigation), all weather floor mats, remote start, spray in bed liner I am sitting at $42,694.50 before taxes right now, is that a decent price? is the truck going to last me a long time? any help I can get will be appreciated.
Evaluate buying a 1-2 year used vehicle with 25K miles on it. You'd probably get it for 35 or so to be honest! You'll have the warranty for another 3-4 years so no worries or headaches. Just an idea.

Marc Aliventi Aliventi this is the 7th year for the ecoboost...I think they have it dialed in now. I went from a 2011 5.0 to 2016 3.5 EB and it will hands down out perform the one I had.
Marc Aliventi Aliventi I personally drive a 15 f-150 3.5 and no issues. Im on an F-150 ecoboost owners page there's tons of trucks over 100k some over 200k. One guy with 300k. There's more issues with 5.0 engines spinning bearings because the 5w-20 gets too thin at high temps. There's an ecoboost in Canada 787 kilometers or approx 450,000 miles on all original equipment.
I work for ford dealer , truck is sweet. Yes if you are in the market by all means come in, however if you are not in the market please don't come in and wait to drive a friend's when they get one. It's not a playground, it's how we make a living.
You should probably adopt your philosophy if you want to attract new customers. You're attitude is exactly why I didn't buy from 3 different other dealers, because again you feel like customers are wasting your time. I can only guess how many sales you have all missed with your approach.
A lot of money for a XLT, 53k? Even with discounts. Small tires, no LED projectors for a company that likes to brag about technolog, it does looks nice.
given how much they cost compared to like 27k in 2000 or even like what 2009 and now they cost 40k plus. how much should landscapers be getting paid nowadays. 15 an hour anyway id think
You get paid what the job is worth, not what you're worth. Landscaping can pay good, when you keep the profits on a job. But general labor I'm sorry isn't going to pay more than $10-$15-$20 an hour, and at that rate, this truck or most vehicles in this range are going to be out of reach. Just the way it is. Gotta be the owner or have a college degree++ for the nicer things. Obviously I am a big fan of being a small business owner :)
Inflation my ass! 15 years ago I paid $30000 for my SCrew FX4 with all the options. For the equivalent now would cost me nearly $60000! That's not inflation, it's price gouging!!
This was a youtube suggested video may I make a suggestion I see that you have a DSL for great video but you use what im guessing no copyrighted music in the background. Can you find some other song that the current selection there is no copyrighted music channel or soundcloud just one more thing to set you apart.
I can see why you would want the HD, with constantly hauling and towing, but even with all the equipment and trailers, I would think the F150 would suit your need just fine. I can't think of any point where you would need to tow more than 12000 lbs and have more than 2000 lbs in the bed.
Daniel Bell There's no way you're plowing professionally and having a truck last more than a season with a 1/2 ton. Just because it's an option, doesn't mean that's its intended use.
I'm just saying, the F150 is more capable than you're giving it credit for. There are plenty of people that use 1/2 tons for situations that were never intended, and doing them well. Since it is a factory option, the truck is fully capable of doing so, and for more than just 1 season I'm sure.

Perhaps you should watch a few more videos before making a comment on my channel. Let's go down the rabbit hole. I was at their dealer one time, and both test drives required about 5 minutes of my friends time, in total. There are support staff as you should know that brought these vehicles out. Lastly, I dropped nearly 60 grand on that dealer, my friend had about 30 minutes in the deal, 1 hour tops. You're the exact type of salesman that repels people from dealers. Always assuming that tire kickers are a waste of time. I'm sure you are just so overwhelmed all day long, practicing your abc's. Great perspective you offer. Oh, and just so you know, there's probably a half dozen vehicles that will have sold because of this review, so I think my 6 minute video x $35k a car, that's about 200K in business. What is that, about $35K a minute to shoot this video? Not sure my friends commission schedule, but I'm sure he made out pretty good per minute dealing with me just on this test drive, let alone the 60 grand I spent on my own truck. I also don't remember anyone complaining when I bought the entire dealer pizza 2x over, for letting me drive their trucks on a Saturday afternoon, at their slowest time of day. Probably never thought your comment through. You have my full name, how about you leave your's and your dealer you represent, that way everyone can know where best to not find you. I stop buying ford truck when they stopped making the Ranger, They were great little work truck. The new F150 don't have the big bed to use to haul a sheet of plywood 4x8
I have driven the F150, I have no need for all the extras they put in them, I don't need a camera to back up with or even need GPS to find my way around. In short I don't need to drive around in my living room or buy a truck that cost more than my house did.
STAY AWAY from that truck if you want to plow buddy. Great for a driveway, but not made for parking lots. Don't get caught up in all the flash. Most of that stuff you will never use. I love it when people go GooGoo for GPS nav systems. I had a truck that was FULL load. hardly ever used the video player, nav system used a few times, memory seats a couple of times, but not worth the money spent. A work truck is for work. You don't have time to be watching videos and use a TOM TOM if you ever need a GPS. Save your money and when you are ready for a personal vehicle get it decked out with all the toys. I would go with a F250 for medium work and a F350 for heavy work. Diesel or Gas it is your choice. Chances are you will never recover the cost of a diesel so go gas. Get the F150 2020 version. use it as your supervisor vehicle. The truck you will use to drive from site to site to check on your crews... Good luck buddy. -John
id pass on the 3.5 it just going to cost way more when shit breaks and the 5.0 is a much better pick from a reliability point long term. i wish they would bring the ranger with the 3.0L diesel to the states crew cab of that would be a great truck to have. personally id rather buy a used fleet owned truck just way cheaper, i paid under 6k@auction and from a dealer id have been at least 12k. i get having the new truck is nice but with the savings alone you could have one with any upgrade and personalized way cheaper. i hate the law making anyone buying a car spend thousands more over what it would cost directly from the manufacture, id much rather save thousands and buy a one owner lightly used vehicle. if you do buy a new truck and it has a moon roof and it makes noise when its hot there are 6 screws that need readjusted and add some foam to stop the noise, ford has been having issues with but hasnt corrected the issue for a few years on em, and its a simple fix when you know what it is. i enjoy sunroofs so it wouldnt make me pass on it. the 150 should be going back to granny gears for 1st gear, my old 82 150 had that and boy what that thing would pull with the 5.0 in it, its a must have for starting heavy loads from a dead stop. im curious to see if/what you decide to buy. lots of choices to pick from.
It's not completely redesigned, it's just a refresh. Look at the nose, how it needs a leveling kit... no wonder I'm reading reviews on line from owners complaining about front suspension issues. Oh, and the electric rear windows have been known to just blow out for no known reason. Good luck!
Believe me, I'm not happy saying these things! My first good set of wheels was a '78 F 150 Custom cab with a 300 six and a 4 speed with a granny gear. Lots of fun memories with that truck. Today, I have zero faith in anything being made by GM, Ford and especially Fiat/Chrysler.

It's an XL, but with the STX package, so it's got some goodies and looks sweet. It's a Supercrew 4x4, paid about $35K for it
Love the super duties. Just more truck than I really needed. So I got the F150 with the 3.5 EB. Love it! Can't go wrong with the super duty!!

Airbags don't lessen the engine workload, you're still hauling or towing the same amount of weight!

The 2018 F-150 3.5 Eco has two fuel injectors per cylinder (1 direct, 1 intake vale). With an aftermarket tuner, exhaust & intake upgrade, this 3.5 Eco could have at least 410 Hp & 550 Ft Lbs Torque. Yep, the 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel would be a good towing engine, better fuel economy, I believe the Jaguar Land Rover would make this engine. In the Land Rover, this engine makes 254 HP & 440 lb-ft torque. Currently, I would prefer the 2018 3.5 Ecoboost engine.

I have never owned a truck, and have been in the market for one for a few months now. I settled on the F-150 XLT sport with the limited edition package like in this video. 2.7L V6 Eco boost(don't have too much to tow except my bike and mower), with the 302a package. Sync 3(no navigation), all weather floor mats, remote start, spray in bed liner I am sitting at $42,694.50 before taxes right now, is that a decent price? is the truck going to last me a long time? any help I can get will be appreciated.
Evaluate buying a 1-2 year used vehicle with 25K miles on it. You'd probably get it for 35 or so to be honest! You'll have the warranty for another 3-4 years so no worries or headaches. Just an idea.

Marc Aliventi Aliventi this is the 7th year for the ecoboost...I think they have it dialed in now. I went from a 2011 5.0 to 2016 3.5 EB and it will hands down out perform the one I had.

Marc Aliventi Aliventi I personally drive a 15 f-150 3.5 and no issues. Im on an F-150 ecoboost owners page there's tons of trucks over 100k some over 200k. One guy with 300k. There's more issues with 5.0 engines spinning bearings because the 5w-20 gets too thin at high temps. There's an ecoboost in Canada 787 kilometers or approx 450,000 miles on all original equipment.
That was 35 years ago, I believe they've figured out how to turbo a gasser.

I work for ford dealer , truck is sweet. Yes if you are in the market by all means come in, however if you are not in the market please don't come in and wait to drive a friend's when they get one. It's not a playground, it's how we make a living.
You should probably adopt your philosophy if you want to attract new customers. You're attitude is exactly why I didn't buy from 3 different other dealers, because again you feel like customers are wasting your time. I can only guess how many sales you have all missed with your approach.

You get paid what the job is worth, not what you're worth. Landscaping can pay good, when you keep the profits on a job. But general labor I'm sorry isn't going to pay more than $10-$15-$20 an hour, and at that rate, this truck or most vehicles in this range are going to be out of reach. Just the way it is. Gotta be the owner or have a college degree++ for the nicer things. Obviously I am a big fan of being a small business owner :)

I can see why you would want the HD, with constantly hauling and towing, but even with all the equipment and trailers, I would think the F150 would suit your need just fine. I can't think of any point where you would need to tow more than 12000 lbs and have more than 2000 lbs in the bed.

I'm just saying, the F150 is more capable than you're giving it credit for. There are plenty of people that use 1/2 tons for situations that were never intended, and doing them well. Since it is a factory option, the truck is fully capable of doing so, and for more than just 1 season I'm sure.

Perhaps you should watch a few more videos before making a comment on my channel. Let's go down the rabbit hole. I was at their dealer one time, and both test drives required about 5 minutes of my friends time, in total. There are support staff as you should know that brought these vehicles out. Lastly, I dropped nearly 60 grand on that dealer, my friend had about 30 minutes in the deal, 1 hour tops. You're the exact type of salesman that repels people from dealers. Always assuming that tire kickers are a waste of time. I'm sure you are just so overwhelmed all day long, practicing your abc's. Great perspective you offer. Oh, and just so you know, there's probably a half dozen vehicles that will have sold because of this review, so I think my 6 minute video x $35k a car, that's about 200K in business. What is that, about $35K a minute to shoot this video? Not sure my friends commission schedule, but I'm sure he made out pretty good per minute dealing with me just on this test drive, let alone the 60 grand I spent on my own truck. I also don't remember anyone complaining when I bought the entire dealer pizza 2x over, for letting me drive their trucks on a Saturday afternoon, at their slowest time of day. Probably never thought your comment through. You have my full name, how about you leave your's and your dealer you represent, that way everyone can know where best to not find you.

I have driven the F150, I have no need for all the extras they put in them, I don't need a camera to back up with or even need GPS to find my way around. In short I don't need to drive around in my living room or buy a truck that cost more than my house did.
Uh, they never stopped offering 8 ft beds. They make their basic work trucks.
STAY AWAY from that truck if you want to plow buddy. Great for a driveway, but not made for parking lots. Don't get caught up in all the flash. Most of that stuff you will never use. I love it when people go GooGoo for GPS nav systems. I had a truck that was FULL load. hardly ever used the video player, nav system used a few times, memory seats a couple of times, but not worth the money spent. A work truck is for work. You don't have time to be watching videos and use a TOM TOM if you ever need a GPS. Save your money and when you are ready for a personal vehicle get it decked out with all the toys. I would go with a F250 for medium work and a F350 for heavy work. Diesel or Gas it is your choice. Chances are you will never recover the cost of a diesel so go gas. Get the F150 2020 version. use it as your supervisor vehicle. The truck you will use to drive from site to site to check on your crews... Good luck buddy. -John

id pass on the 3.5 it just going to cost way more when shit breaks and the 5.0 is a much better pick from a reliability point long term. i wish they would bring the ranger with the 3.0L diesel to the states crew cab of that would be a great truck to have. personally id rather buy a used fleet owned truck just way cheaper, i paid under 6k@auction and from a dealer id have been at least 12k. i get having the new truck is nice but with the savings alone you could have one with any upgrade and personalized way cheaper.
i hate the law making anyone buying a car spend thousands more over what it would cost directly from the manufacture, id much rather save thousands and buy a one owner lightly used vehicle.
if you do buy a new truck and it has a moon roof and it makes noise when its hot there are 6 screws that need readjusted and add some foam to stop the noise, ford has been having issues with but hasnt corrected the issue for a few years on em, and its a simple fix when you know what it is. i enjoy sunroofs so it wouldnt make me pass on it.
the 150 should be going back to granny gears for 1st gear, my old 82 150 had that and boy what that thing would pull with the 5.0 in it, its a must have for starting heavy loads from a dead stop.
im curious to see if/what you decide to buy. lots of choices to pick from.

Bobby Cooke 3rd gen 5.0 is new for 18.
The 5.0 was introduced in 2011, the same for the 3.5 Ecoboost. They are the same age and both have proven themselves quite durable.

It's not completely redesigned, it's just a refresh. Look at the nose, how it needs a leveling kit... no wonder I'm reading reviews on line from owners complaining about front suspension issues. Oh, and the electric rear windows have been known to just blow out for no known reason.

Believe me, I'm not happy saying these things! My first good set of wheels was a '78 F 150 Custom cab with a 300 six and a 4 speed with a granny gear. Lots of fun memories with that truck.
Today, I have zero faith in anything being made by GM, Ford and especially Fiat/Chrysler.
