WTF is that!?!?!?!?! Does that mean that Channel can Pass MIDI information from the knobs in that section, say Compressor #2, over to the DAW, where upon I could map it to ANYTHING??? Only reason I didn't buy console 1 is because it can't load other brands plugins and assign knobs and buttons to plugin functions. I understand why that is, it's the foundation of this system that it isn't possible and softube wants to make more money on their plugins and that's okay. This looks beautiful but it’s almost £900 You can buy a 500 series bento an ssl violet and an SPL big for that price!!!! Or a NEW COMPUTER or a pair of decent monitors! It’s just TOO much money! I love it I want it but it’s way overpriced for a controller! I’d pull the plug £650 for the eco system and the style but price is to steep man
Question , does this one still have the 5db rolloffat 10 hz like the old one? Even without anything instantiated, it always would never null with the source (by a lot too, about -60dB) just by having the plugin active. I think perhaps the HPF is always on with no way to disable..
I am still not sold on the price. Why does this have to cost double the price of the mk2 or the mk2+faders? A big sell of the mk1 and mk2 was the price. I do like the added screens tho. When I am adjusting knobs, I am always looking at the device, not my pc monitor.
Please for the future videos mix in the context of the mix Don’t worry about us we can hear the differences All these moves you make in solo doesn’t make sense as they sound good in solo Please be the change for the future generation
I’ve always had to choose Ableton native compressor or waves la 2a to do my vocals but it never sounds the same as when I use studio rack with waves compressors la 2A into 1176. I’m really liking the idea of 2 compressors and 2 eqs.
@SoftubeStudios will the display be able to tell me which channel i am working on? Didnt see that in the video. Because on my mk2 its a real workflow bummer, that i always have to open the on Screen display to Check that i am on the right track...
Hey Lukas! Yes! The displays on the hardware are customized to always show you relevant information, which typically is the last knob you touched and visualizations for that section. In default mode the left screen will show Input, Filter, Shape and Equalizer parameters and curves. The right screen will show Compressor, Drive and output parameters and curves. Agree with the drive section mix knob, but the compresors have a mix knob you can see it with yellow text, which means when you press shift, then the release parameter becomes a mix knob, but yeah adding the same thing for preamp and drive would definitely be very useful.
The compressor Does have a Mix knob, you just have to Shift now. And Drive basically Is like a mix knob, you just blend in your desired amount of Drive for your chosen type and Character.
@G_handle while that's true, you can still get a different sound of drive when you overdrive something, and then you just blend in the original dry signal with the mix knob rather than just using little bit of drive and no mix knob because the frequency response and harmonic saturation profile will be different even if the amount of saturation will be the same after using the mix knob.
@danielkisel5661 While I don't necessarily disagree and would love Every potential parameter change, let me say a couple of things: A) I've been a Console 1 user from day one and now have a Mk I and two Mk II's. B) This thread started of with : Would have been great if... Which I consider nonsense. Console 1, IMHO, is the greatest thing to happen to mixing ITB since the DAW itself. If you come from an Analog workflow and esthetic. C) Parallel Compression has been included since the beginning, even though None of the Consoles being emulated has a Parallel Mix knob. D) I do TONS of Parallel Processing, including all Effects, yes Compression, but also Parallel EQ and Parallel Saturation. So yeah, I suppose having a Mix knob as well in the Drive/Character circuit could be useful. But I don't know How much more useful, or meaningfully different it would be given the level of blending we already have. So in the abstract, sure. But in practice, I can think of a LOT of other bonus features I'd rather have in reaching distance. (MS options, Upward Compression,...) E) Another aspect of Console 1, as well as Actual Analog Consoles, that gets lost on mouse and keyboard mixers, is that they're also built for Speed. No system is perfect and they all are made up of design choices and compromises. Softube build an incredibly satisfying system, I'd argue easily the best system for under five-figures, if you mix with an Analog Workflow. And saying that, I'll say this: More can be Less. More knobs are not necessarily going to improve my Mix or flow. The Right knobs in the right places that access the right parameters, that's the whole game, again IMHO. F) And lastly, as I've been proselytizing Console 1 for almost a decade now, I always have to remind people that: You still get to keep all your Other plugins too. Nobody's coming to block your other insert slots. If you hear something in your head, and you can't get it to come out of your speakers using those knobs in front of you.....go ahead and grab your mouse! It's okay, nobody will know.
..... G) As to Parallel Compression, squeezing down the peaks on a signal and then blending the Dry peaks back into the Wet compressed signal is a time honored tradition (again available in Console 1 as standard from the outset). In the Analog world, while you technically 'Could' route out a Parallel Preamp setup, or put any of the other Analog Circuits that Softube emulated for the Drive/Character circuit, on a separate mixer channel, Drive into it, and use a fader to Mix (fader not knob) that back in Parallel...I doubt very many did. What we definitely did do however, is Drive our Analog Devices, get them to distort/saturate/break-up to taste, and then dial back the output (fader) to compensate. Pretty much Exactly what Console 1 emulates. They just made it Much easier, with tons of flavors, character blending, and some gain compensation. Do I need a Mix Knob too? No.
I think this will be more interesting once the mouse and keyboard can be more consistently replaced. Being able to navigate a daw in a way that feels less like a computer could be cool. Though, I'm not totally sure how navigating a plugin on a specific track really helps all that much as moving audio, editing, and basic navigation stuff are much more tedious from daw to daw. Having a solidified way to move could be cool as well.
Indeed. This is Not a Tool for producers, its for mixing engineers. You don’t need to touch your computer IF the Song is allready recorded and arranged. Its a cool thing and the plugins coming with it Sound really Good, but who tf will change bis workflow when he comes to the mixing Stage, After just Recording and arranging in the DAW. Real professional Mixing engineers wont use it either because they usually will also use hardware or 3rdparty Plugins, so i don’t really get the Target Group of this thing…

Mmm interesting looks more modern but don’t worth the extra money.. The Mk2 looks more cleaner, portable & practical. For me looking this from a strategic point of view its more a thing of charging more money replicating ssl UC1. Its time that companies start to really do some practical $ new stuff. In the long run Softube its going to make the mk2 unavailable for purchase just forcing this one to get sell. Btw its not hate i have a lot of Softube Plugins that i use daily. Just i want to see company that i do really love make great & new things. Im tired of the same emulations & gears.
This is MORE than what you are looking at or words can describe! I have been a user for about 3 weeks of this device. What it does is incredible! I have been in audio and video production for over 30 Years professionally. Finally, I ran into Todd here on another channel, he explained this device differently than I understood. The expansive device offers many possibilities that are not even explained here. It's also backed by plugins that are top-of-the-line proven quality. What a GREAT BUY! ¡REAL STUFF! I also run a computer company making quality computer systems and writing software. The way this thing handles resources is great for the number of tracks and style of programming. Not to mention other names, But Softube You Really Out Did Yourself, and you are leading the way with its product and its software. I SEE Your Excellence!
This is good if you can easily custom map it to any plugin or DAW using USB and something better than MIDI, say OSC, so switching is easy, and connections offer good feedback and resolution. Otherwise, it's just an awfully expensive channel strip plugin with a pricey dedicated hardware controller, similar to SSL's offering, though this one looks to have better controls, wonder if it sounds the same. But the whole dedicated hardware signal chain controller approach seems like a recipe for wasteful clutter overload in the real world like my plugin folder is in the virtual world. (Says he who is reasonably pretty happy with his two DJ TechTools Midi Fighter Twisters and a Chinese-made Macropad. Always on the lookout for a better alternative though, there's still room for improvement with my setup. Love the custom colored LEDs on the row of top buttons on your new device, eventually I am going to try and add that functionality to my Macropad., it's already got the individually colored LEDs, just need to write-cobble together some software for it.)
Core Panner Mirror (feature request) Have the neighbour track pan opposite L35 on selected track, equals R35 on next track (good because lack of pan knobs on both console and fader) Handy for: Backing vocals / dubs Harmonies Double tracked rock guitars Double tracked acoustic
Looks sexy, will probably upgrade. 1. We need an Auto-gain Set button!!! A bit disappointed that this feature is still left out. Even if it’s software-only for now, that would be great. Doing it by ear can be wrong and so defeats the purpose. 2. When sweeping for resonances, can we use the mouse/keyboard on the software? Right now Pro-Q 3 has the fastest workflow for taming narrow peaks and so I’d want something just as fast (while staying in the world of C1). 3. On that note, Is a full video manual coming? This video was great but some things are missing e.g. the software aspect, explanation of groups, shift combos he was doing in the video….
Sometimes i wonder who’s the bean counter when these things are being developed?? You can clearly notice that they had PLENTY OF SPACE / ROOM for those new added mini screens to be actually double its current width so more stuff can be viewed - ie which channel your on or just larger LED screens but who am i???

Or a NEW COMPUTER or a pair of decent monitors!
It’s just TOO much money! I love it I want it but it’s way overpriced for a controller! I’d pull the plug £650 for the eco system and the style but price is to steep man
Question , does this one still have the 5db rolloffat 10 hz like the old one? Even without anything instantiated, it always would never null with the source (by a lot too, about -60dB) just by having the plugin active. I think perhaps the HPF is always on with no way to disable..
0:35 the right LCD on the unit has a display bug, lol
Hey! Good catch. Todd used early beta software for this shoot, so not to worry. Thanks for flagging though!
Best regards,
David at Softube
I am still not sold on the price.
Why does this have to cost double the price of the mk2 or the mk2+faders?
A big sell of the mk1 and mk2 was the price.
I do like the added screens tho. When I am adjusting knobs, I am always looking at the device, not my pc monitor.
Excited for this!
So are we!! :)
Cheers,
David at Sofutbe
I suppose it would be nice too mess around, but atm its nicer to keep the 1k in my pocket and use a mouse/scrollwheel with what I own already
Please for the future videos mix in the context of the mix
Don’t worry about us we can hear the differences
All these moves you make in solo doesn’t make sense as they sound good in solo
Please be the change for the future generation
I’ve always had to choose Ableton native compressor or waves la 2a to do my vocals but it never sounds the same as when I use studio rack with waves compressors la 2A into 1176. I’m really liking the idea of 2 compressors and 2 eqs.
As much as I like this, it’s incomplete without an upgrade to the Softube fader one.
Spoke too soon ;)
Are there any presets for each SECTION of the Core Mixing Suite?
when the fader expansion will be out I'll have a very hard time resisting...
Cheers,
David at Softube
Hoping the new Fader mk3 will have dedicated transport controls, just like the new SSL UF1.
no crucial need to upgrade from mk2
Some how the mk3 looks more dated already than the mk2
No "crucial" need to Use anyang but a mouse and keyboard! But I can appreciate that this is a significant refresh to keep it competitive.
@@Hotwired_hearts haha yeah. to be honest, to me the mk2 looks better (even if the mk3 appears to be more solid)
@@monsieurgroove9330 true dude
Why no single fader on the right side? That's all thats missing I think..
Does this box take over audio processing from the CPU?
Great new Features Drive and Phase invert ON/OFF buttons were a must!! well done!!! plus so many other stuff...... wish there is integration with Pro Tools
Gorgeous! Love my Console 1 and this looks like a great upgrade ...when time and money is right. :)
Same here, see you in 2083😅
Does the Mk III have the same accessibility of the Mk II?
Hi! Yes, the accessibility features are available in Mk III as well :) Best regards, David at Softube
OK, but seems to cost roughly twice what the old version costs. A bit steep.
Definitely upgrading!
Now i just need a Overstayer Modular Channel plugin for this and i will buy it right away !
Cool! but why there is no Transport play/stop buttons?
Is there a way to separate the DAW Volume from the Main Output Volume in Logic Pro? Logic Pro 10.8.1
Hi! You can control the DAW volume with the Volume Knob and the plug-in volume by pressing the Shift button and using the same Volume Knob. I hope this helps! If not, please contact support at www.softube.com/contact-us/technical-support

If we buy this box, will we get integrated several plugins from already existing Softube, or will there be newly created/programed plugins ? It's important.
Hi! Console 1 Channel Mk III comes with the Console 1 Core Mixing Suite, which includes:
Tape/Preamp: tape drive model
Filters: 6, 12, 18, 24, 48 dB included (default is 18 in bass and 12 on top
Shape: Dynamic Shaper, Panner, Dual Dynamics
2 EQs: Modern precise and vintage passive parallel
3 Compressors: FET Mk II, Opto and Bus Compressor
The SSL 4000E strip (included with Mk I and Mk II) will instead be available as a separate purchase (exclusive to the Console 1 ecosystem)

Can the motorised softTube fader be used with this too?
where is the comp wet/dry knob from the mk2?
not finding the CORE modules
I know the new fader has more screens but I think those 2 small screens could have been bigger or maybe only 1 screen but bigger…
Yes there seems to have been a limitation here. They're probably 3rd party screens from another manufacturer.
Would have been cool if the drive & compressor section had a mix knob.
@danielkisel5661 While I don't necessarily disagree and would love Every potential parameter change, let me say a couple of things:
A) I've been a Console 1 user from day one and now have a Mk I and two Mk II's.
(MS options, Upward Compression,...)
E) Another aspect of Console 1, as well as Actual Analog Consoles, that gets lost on mouse and keyboard mixers, is that they're also built for Speed.
F) And lastly, as I've been proselytizing Console 1 for almost a decade now, I always have to remind people that:
You still get to keep all your Other plugins too.
Real professional Mixing engineers wont use it either because they usually will also use hardware or 3rdparty Plugins, so i don’t really get the Target Group of this thing…
the MK1 instantly improved my mixes, this model will bring even more options and flexibility! Can't wait!
@@Dispoboy1A tool for mixing engineers. That's a good way to describe it.
Hi I still have Console mk II but since I installed the latest Software Update I have in my AU Console Plug IN in Logic - 2 EQs and 2 Compressors ... is that a new function / feature ? Can I customize the channel strip inside the plug in ?

@@SoftubeStudios thank you is there like early access so I can review one I think that would be great
One suggestion is
I don't need to see that it is 7123hz frequency
That's just excessive and unnecessary numbers on the screen
7,12k is plenty
50hz, 100hz, 500hz 1khz 7,12khz
Etc
Is there a upgrade from 1-2 to 3? I mean could you send your old ones in and get a discount?
Hi there, I'm afraid there's no such trade in in place // Sara at Softube
Me watching this hoping it's not expensive... let me go check the price
900$ wtf imagin paying 900$ for a keyboard
Is it rack mountable?

Backing vocals / dubs
Harmonies
Double tracked rock guitars
Double tracked acoustic

Wow!!
I know nothing Softube system. I am sure that it has many features that are useful. But just from a visual outlook it looks likes it's would never be part of a serious studio setup. Were as SSL UC1, UF8 and UF1 I have seen in many studio's Mostly the UF8 for automation on consul's.
