SSSS Gridman is doing so good that many people now are looking for what is next, this series started as nothing special but now it a phenomenon in the anime world as of 2018 winter.
Came here after watching the new SSSS Gridman anime, have to say this is a great way to learn about it, though hopefully I didn't spoil myself with this with the anime's plot.
Would not surprise if SRW will adopt Gridman one day. Big monsters, ultraman like hero, super robot, combine robot, 1 answer. GRIDMAN! Thanks for a great video, really brings back memories!
I grew up in japan and I fondly remember Gridman as one of my favorite tv shows growing up! The new Gridman anime is putting a giant grin on my face and I’m so glad to see a new adaption of it more than 2 decades later 👍
They have a new set up for preorder on amazon jp. It's quite a bit smaller, but it looks pretty great :) The ultra act version cannot form Zenon, but this one can. Not sure if they are also coming out with the Dyna dragon, but that would be cool as the ultra act version is also unable to form the Dyna Dragon. tinyurl.com/yabfgebu
Ironic, I never cared much for the show, but had Zenon and latter picked up a Servo from a Garage Sale that also had a Drago... My father only let me get one, so I chose Servo to create Synchro, and when I later showed him the combination I then told him that exactly why I wanted the "robot dinosaur" as well, since it also combined. Mind you I had to look these names up due to never caring for the show.
Don't hate me. But I had the toys. And they were damn cool as hell. Ended up giving them all to a neighbor at the time, a huge mistake. The toys were not expensive either. I wish I'd bought up all they had.
Gridman seriously needs to be in SRW And that wouldn't be too difficult since he's voiced by an SRW alumni and Tsuburaya already has ties to Bandai Namco
And then it happened And not only did it happen, it happened in the miraculous first global release of an SRW game. And not only that, they also put the game's entire budget into gridman's attacks, giving him one of the best attack animations in SRW history.
I really appreciated this breakdown. I would love to see a breakdown of the plot points from both the original series and the US adaptation, comparing and contrasting in more depth.
Oh... My goodness, this stirs old memories a bit. Saw the adaptation briefly as a kid, but I could never remember the name. And an excellent review as always.
Just saw SSSS Gridman on Crunchyroll and that brought me here and I didnt realize the connection until now. This was very infomatove as well. Thanks for posting this.
I hope you get to do other series such as Super Robot Wars OG 😊 The lore of the Original Generation SRW is pretty wide excluding crossovers. More power to you!
technically the name is only an homage to the american series, in reality the canonical meaning of the acronym was "Special Signature to Save a Soul." its just that the team who worked on the show indirectly confirmed that the acronym was meant as a tribute to the american one
I’m excited to see some of these super options adapted to the new anime. There was already a foreshadowing when all the assistants jumped through the computer but caused it to freeze.
*Woooow!* On my 5th birthday, I had gotten a Gridman figure with the Dyna Dragon. I still have Gridman, but the Dragon ship has been missing for unknown reasons. For the longest eternity, I have never found a name for these dudes.
Looking forward to the video about God Mazinger. If there is one "Mecha Talk" I would love to see you do, it would have to be a video on both Cyberbots and Tech Romancer. Not any of the mechs in particular, just an overview for both games.
Seeing two of the coolest dudes I know in the mecha community together talking about by far the most interesting Tsuburaya toku I've seen in a while is a dream come true. I've never finished Gridman due to the show not being subbed past episode 3, but hopefully Toku's gonna add it to their Amazon Prime service. As for recommendations, I'd like to see something on Genesic GaoGaiGar. I've been translating some of the GaoGaiGar vs. Betterman novel (albeit at a very slow pace due to college) so if possible I'd like to help in any way I can.
Just hearing that they are using the SSSS as the title for the new anime is just hype for me. SSSS was so epic for me as a kid then finding Gridman and now this!
Needs to be in a SRW someday. Hopefully not X-Omega. but after X. Edit: I wonder if there any English subs for the complete series, as i would want to see this for myself?
Really great video. By the way, I always feel Gridman have some Brave series influence, probably because Takara made the toys. Just like early Brave series, Gridman is a super police who chasing the villain and befriends human kids. The whole robot combinations also feel like the Brave series. It's the closest thing we ever get a live action Brave, lol.
It combines both stick behind Japanese name gridman and the American name superhero Samurai syber-squad to make a perfect combining of two good versions
I've learned alot. Great job. Anyway I do have two suggestions. The evangelions and the warhammer 40k titans. Yes it's not anime the last one however it's so expansive you can have a small anime series in it. Oh and the tau
Great video as always, and I was wondering-when do you think the next trilogy saga for SRW will come out? Of course, I would like them to take their time with it since we finished one recently, and I'm happy with the one shots so far. With that, what series and kind of story are you anticipating for the next saga?
Another great mecha talk video I enjoyed. Like you to do a real robot mecha talk as it's been a while since you did one. What about Gundam Char's Counterattack, Patlabor, Votoms or Macross Frontier TV as a future one?
Just based off the first episode, no. Its gonna be quite different story wise. Though Gridman needing to combine with a human, fighting kaijus and using assist weapons is still the same.
Wait, why did Gridman is considered a mecha? I have seen a lot of people calling the anime that. If Gridman is called mecha, then what about Sentai and Power Rangers??
Of course, and it's one of the reason its popular. I just want to ask why people called the gridman anime a mecha anime, instead of a tokusatsu anime. If the reason was because of the design and the Neon Genesis Junior High support crew, then could sentai also considered more as a mecha series than tokusatsu?
Because there are giant robots in the anime and Gridman actually combines with them to form even bigger giant robots? If anything, Gridman is both a Tokusatsu and Mecha anime.
Indeed, but sadly there are a lot of people that never acknowledges the tokusatsu root of the show, and instead called it purely as a mecha anime, which reminds of a question that sometimes I had: is an appeareance of a giant robot in anime enough for it to be called a mecha anime? Or does the giant robot also need a role ine the story or plot?
Do an episode about the mecha “Elder God Demonbane” from the Demonbane anime. He’s easily the most powerful mecha I have ever seen (even more powerful than Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann).
Man that made the whole anime make since. They never explain who grid man is in the anime or the title of the show. But i still think they should of named it gridman alliance
I know I asked you this before and you're planning on God Mazinger but do you have any plans to do a video on Grendizer? Sorry for bothering you about this again?
The only reason why Takashi has no friends is because he never makes any real attempt to and often wimps out, plus when something doesn't go his way or is purely accidental on another party side he comes off as either a jerk or a bully
12:18 and 12:52
Oh boy were we wrong.
Are you from malaysia? Ur accent sounds like it
yep... but you could say the Hyper Agents have access to all parallel earths including a world where a Girl is a GOD
@D180223
What's wrong?
D180223 it stands for: "Special Signature to Save a Soul"
@@kapriseedwards9687
*facepalm* REALLY?!
GRIIIIIDMAAAAAN BABY DON DON BABY DON DON YUME MITE
Though on a more serious note it was pretty dope working with you, D180.
Same here bruh
M.D. Chaos II
I'm thinking Spaceballs in this theme...
SSSS Gridman is doing so good that many people now are looking for what is next, this series started as nothing special but now it a phenomenon in the anime world as of 2018 winter.
Well, I hope Ultraman is next. I wanna see Ultraman in Anime form especially Ultraman Nexus since it's one of the darker series.
GUESS WHAT
I grew up in japan and I fondly remember Gridman as one of my favorite tv shows growing up! The new Gridman anime is putting a giant grin on my face and I’m so glad to see a new adaption of it more than 2 decades later 👍
oh wow a Gridman anime made by Trigger? Sign me up!
The first two episodes are on TH-cam and it looks absolutely amazing
It is SOOOOO GOOODD
It is awesome!!!!
Superhuman samurai cyber squad was actually pretty close as an adaptation when I think back on it. Sadly, I never able to get any of the toys.😧
i like that show
Holy crap
They have a new set up for preorder on amazon jp. It's quite a bit smaller, but it looks pretty great :)

Mah childhood, this just gets me more hyped for the anime airing in fall
*THE GRIDMAAAAAAN! BABY DAN DAN, BABY DAN DAN!*
Man I always wanted to see a Gridman/ Ultraman crossover because of the many similarities between the two and you know being made by the same people
Same
I remember watching Gridman when I was a kid and now seeing the new anime.... Oh boy am I super happy.:D
Gridman seriously needs to be in SRW
And that wouldn't be too difficult since he's voiced by an SRW alumni and Tsuburaya already has ties to Bandai Namco
SSSS Gridman will definitely give interest to the idea.
He'll probably appear in that Kamen Rider, Gundam and Ultraman crossover game first though.
God Zenon qualifies Gridman as SRW material.
Oh, add Digimon XROS WARS as an unorthodox series.
And then it happened
And not only did it happen, it happened in the miraculous first global release of an SRW game.
And not only that, they also put the game's entire budget into gridman's attacks, giving him one of the best attack animations in SRW history.
I loved Super Hero Samurai Cyber Squad. Tim Curry was amazing. Never got to see Gridman though. I am excited for the anime though
Ngl, it's kinda insane how much Gridman footage went unused in SSSS
Man I can’t wait for the anime to be released
Damn Gridman looks really good!
TVsTewi Hell, if you want a good adaptation of Gridman, watch Super human samurai Syber squad.
Every fan of this series should watch this video! Thanks for all of the information! So many things make sense now.
Wow.
Coming back to this after the SSS.Gridman anime he used most of the abilities from the takasatsu.
Just saw SSSS Gridman on Crunchyroll and that brought me here and I didnt realize the connection until now. This was very infomatove as well. Thanks for posting this.
I came here because of SSSS.GRIDMAN, and I'm disappointed in myself for not having seen og Gridman
I hope you get to do other series such as Super Robot Wars OG 😊
The lore of the Original Generation SRW is pretty wide excluding crossovers. More power to you!
oh I love the fact they used the american show name for the new anime
The next generation of both Gridman and Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad!
technically the name is only an homage to the american series, in reality the canonical meaning of the acronym was "Special Signature to Save a Soul." its just that the team who worked on the show indirectly confirmed that the acronym was meant as a tribute to the american one
Already a fan of all Gridman things! Thanks for the wonderful video! Great to be seeing his in 2018!
I love Gridman and SuperHuman Samurai Syber Squad!!
My childhood in a nutshell!!!
I guess SSSS Gridman has brought me here. Good old 'Midorikawa'. Never miss hearing his voice.
"A certain autobot leader"
.....or Diaclone convoy.....where the autobot leader came from...

So, who where is here to rewatch this because the new anime came out?
Here lol.
It's a damn shame gridman sigma wasn't ever made.
Edit: 12:54 well that was a lie
Jetfire48
Hope the anime adaptation can bring our joy for the lack of Sigma.
There's a super mini pla of him coming out in February
Joong Kim wait, really? Is that actually true?
Oh my god!! I got shown in the video!! The times are good! And Gridman came out on my birth year! The hype is real!!!
Love how the Gridman anime supported the "kaiju logic" of these fights, which were based on budget limitations of the "men in rubber suits" genre. :D
This show was my childhood, such a great memories
If you see it very carefully the man in monster suit in gridman show really worked so hard. Using hot suit while beaten to a pulp is sure a hard work
Seeing two of the coolest dudes I know in the mecha community together talking about by far the most interesting Tsuburaya toku I've seen in a while is a dream come true.
Syber squad was my favorite show back in grade school.
Amazon Prime Video has the whole show in English sub
Can’t wait to see the new series on either Hulu or Netflix. Looks super good!
ok this helps me understand the 1st ep of the anime, thank you very much! i think i will watch the anime more because of this
Ippei the man a young prodigy creating advanced mecha systems in MS Paint 96😂😂😂
Hope you make more video explanation like this for other tokusatsu
ssss stand for superhuman samurai syber-squad was funny but gridman is awesome
It doesn't literally stand for that. Only a reference.
Wish they bring this back
Thank u for your amazing work
This just reminded me of how many toys I had from the American adaptation of this show.
Intresting fact an optimus like bot was once called god ginrai
It combines both stick behind Japanese name gridman and the American name superhero Samurai syber-squad to make a perfect combining of two good versions
ssss gridman was amazing it has a twist to the story!
I've learned alot. Great job. Anyway I do have two suggestions. The evangelions and the warhammer 40k titans. Yes it's not anime the last one however it's so expansive you can have a small anime series in it. Oh and the tau
unicron the destroyer Well the Anime is comeing out this year in the fall! I'm so excited!!
Great video as always, and I was wondering-when do you think the next trilogy saga for SRW will come out? Of course, I would like them to take their time with it since we finished one recently, and I'm happy with the one shots so far. With that, what series and kind of story are you anticipating for the next saga?
Oh man, loved this guy when i was little, but it wasn't the Gridman version.
Love this kinds of vids pls make more.
super human samurai cyber squad was my child hood tho! I still have the toys
Another great mecha talk video I enjoyed. Like you to do a real robot mecha talk as it's been a while since you did one. What about Gundam Char's Counterattack, Patlabor, Votoms or Macross Frontier TV as a future one?
Will you be doing a followup video for this? You did such a great job!
I want a gaogaigar explain vid
Andre Felipe But is really all that necessary? A demonbane video would be a lot more helpful
Jetfire48 yeah
+Jetfire48 Yeah because not a lot of people outside of mecha have seen gaogaigar
M.D. Chaos II while true demonbane honestly needs a video much more
how much?
Btx or escaflowne would be awesome some episodes
man..... CHILDHOOD MEMORIESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I hope Gridman comes to the U.S. on dvd.
well 2021 we get the sequel of SSSS Gridman anime
I want a redeemed Takeshi and Gridman Sigma to show up on an actual anime series, not just a short..
Will we get a new live action series
where to watch gridman 1993?
As far as I'm aware, Toku HD has the only (legal or illegal) fully subbed gridman series but be aware as their subs aren't perfect
so,since the ssss.gridman aired weeks ago,is it going to follow like the original gridman or not?
Just based off the first episode, no. Its gonna be quite different story wise. Though Gridman needing to combine with a human, fighting kaijus and using assist weapons is still the same.
GODÖ MAJINGA DA!
Oh boy i really want to see this.
Can you do gigantor and black ox?
Oh wow I just came across this! Please do s mecha talk on Yamato! (The mecha anime not the ship)
So whatever happened to this series of videos cause it's nearly been on hiatus for 2 years already
Fantastic!!!
ssss means Special Signature to Save a Soul
yay~ more mecha talk
And he made it to super robot war 30
And he made it to Azur Lane…
As a battleship rigging.
I love the new gridman anime!
You deserve more subs
Wait, why did Gridman is considered a mecha? I have seen a lot of people calling the anime that. If Gridman is called mecha, then what about Sentai and Power Rangers??
You do know that Sentai and Power Rangers have giant robots as well right?

Or does the giant robot also need a role ine the story or plot?
I would say it needs to play a major role in the story and not just be a one off thing.
Came here just to get to know well about what ssss.gridman is really are
thank you i watch before this show ....i ady forgot too long
Great vid as usual , can you make demonbane next.
that was really great but i'm glad to watch it :-)
Do an episode about the mecha “Elder God Demonbane” from the Demonbane anime. He’s easily the most powerful mecha I have ever seen (even more powerful than Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann).
Can you do Dancouga??
So Ultraman + Optimus Prime = Thunderzord?
Heck yeah woke up early to see this.
Awesome video! You should cover XenoGears too at some point
Based Green River. Truly our guy.
Man that made the whole anime make since. They never explain who grid man is in the anime or the title of the show. But i still think they should of named it gridman alliance
Since Gridman have a new anime that means we don't need terrible voice actors for the dub. And I hope we can get a dub.
I mean in superhuman samurai sybersquad call gridman servo
You know I had a super human samurai I'm... Sadden cause it got broken
SSSS.Gridman is now out!
amazing video
I know I asked you this before and you're planning on God Mazinger but do you have any plans to do a video on Grendizer? Sorry for bothering you about this again?
So far, no.
The only reason why Takashi has no friends is because he never makes any real attempt to and often wimps out, plus when something doesn't go his way or is purely accidental on another party side he comes off as either a jerk or a bully
