Man this is why i love Mecha genre. Shin Mazinger Zero's Meta ending and entire SRW franchise. The crossovers and call backs to one and other. No other Anime genre even comes close. Wish it was completely translated so that i could read it.

The entire greater mecha verse is kind of linked through SRW these days including the ones still to come. Still it's funny to see the franchise become so integral to the mecha scene that it's directly influencing things like manga.
@Santiago Scarpino The zero system isn't evil, just incredibly hard to interface with since it's basically overwhelming the pilot with all of this probability and data prediction stuff including outcomes where they die, their friends and loved ones die and even everybody dies. It's pretty easy to lose all sense of reality and just succumb to it's will similar to how a Psyco-Frame works in Gundam. Those with strong enough wills like Heero Yuy can overcome it though, but even Zechs was kind of driven to some rash decision making in the finale of Wing by Epyon for example. Also infamously Quatre the most merciful of the Gundam pilots is driven to a genocidal rampage by the Zero System combined with his grief over the death of his father.
Then basically the ending for Mazinger Zero is similar to the ending in Mazinger Infinity where Koji chooses a Universe/reality that is his preferred one. Although it seems that in ZERO he is with his parents and Brother, in INFINITY he becomes Lisa's (whom is similar to Zero's Minerva as part of a Mazinger) father as he also finally marries Sayaka. Truthfully I love both stories and ends the Mazinger tale greatly
The story starts as tribute to Go Nagai but at the end it becomes a tribute to mecha in general while still respecting the original (ZERO). That Gypsy Danger Cameo was completely unexpected Pacific Rim in SRW when?

I saw the Awesome tab of TvTropes’ Mazinger ZERO article mention that it’s an honor for Gypsy Danger to appear in the manga, as an American creation has been recognized as a true “Super Robot” who helped other (Japanese) robots save the realm of fiction from ZERO’s monopoly powers.
I knew that Go Nagi liked Pacific Rim but enough for Gypsy Danger to show up Shin Mazinger Zero? My love of that film has only increased with that revelation.
Maybe it's because of my love of Super Robots and mecha but like THAT's how you do a meta finale frankly. It kind of brings the nature of Mazinger Zero desiring to be the one and only all powerful super robot full circle by having virtually every iconic mecha (including many Go Nagai never even created) fight back against it in the finale for the right to exist. It also still kind of allows Go Nagai to position Mazinger as the big boss of the mecha multiverse in a twisted sort of sense even if it ultimately goes down in flames.
Not only that, Mazinger Zero is *ACTUALLY* the strongest character in all of fiction. Only seconded by lovecraft's azatoth. He's THAT powerful Edited: Correction: He far surpasses Azatoth. Technically he created a universe that's the same tier as ours which means he has his own HP lovecraft to create an azatoth

My feelings about this review on something I never really knew about Mazinger before is something I'll quote from Bennet the Sage: "Oh, Nagai. You may make some weird shit sometimes, but you NEVER make boring shit." I mean, damn, the tale really takes you on a mad rollercoaster ride, but it ends on such a sweet and humble note. Having all sorts of known mecha showing up at the end to bring balance and peace is practically a love letter to Mecha fandom; At least, I'd like to think it is, especially given Super Robot Wars is a thing and their respective stories are retold and mixed around with one another with their fates ever intertwined. And Mecha Godzilla, eh...? Now there's a curious ride.

The Mecha G is very enthralling, and I'm a sucker for hammy hotblooded goodness as is. A lot of it has to do with coolness factoring in, but whenever I do get into watching a series, I try to commit on paying attention to not just the flashy stuff but the lore around it... Also, Wikis help; I may enjoy reading on Gundam mechs and characters biiit too much sometimes... My favorites by far are the RX-78-6 Mudrock Gundam and MS-06F2 Zaku II F2.
I didn't expect the Gypsy Danger to be amongst all the Super Robots (and the RX78 and Dragonar 1).... that is how good Pacific Rim's impact was to Japan.

I was actually interested in knowing about Mazinger Zero after seeing him in SRW V. The fact that not only is its design a BEAST, but its own "consciousness" of not wanting to be irrelevant in this day and age is quite shocking
Well the wait was well worth it. Lol I like how Mazinger Zero is basically the biggest Mazinger Z fan to have ever existed. That last part with all the super robots (even real robots) popping up was pretty freakin awesome, a great way to reference the mecha genre and all of super robot wars. :)
I like how in Super Robot Wars V Koji is able through shear force of will able to earn the respect of the Mazinger Force basicly Mazinger Z/Zero's soul and gain control of Mazinger Zero becomeing the most broken unit in the game! As his grandfather said to him in that game you can chose to be a demon or a God and Koji choses to be a God of protection alongside Zero and the prove they are the strongest together always leading the charge of my army once I got it!
IIRC zero attacks are all physical, while mazinger z were mixed but focused on ranged, changing so abruptly could had lead to a loss in power, which it wasn't due to zero's absurd base damage. my endgame Tetsuya was outdamaging Koji just because of that, since Emperor and great mazinger were physically inclined, hence dropping points into the raw stats.

If you translate Koji Kabuto's name in order, it means "Hot Helmet". The name is quite apt for his character, not to mention that he's in the Pilder which serves as Mazinger's brain. ^_^

You have NO idea how much I have laughed with the last segment of your video, about the original Mazinger's popularity and how this manga brings in all the mecha hereos from the genre it inspires to win the day and that through them Mazinger lives on!!!!! Also Me: If it's all freaking possible enough, then bring on JAM Project and Nana Mizuki to sing the show's opening Theme (and as well as welp, to have Mizuki-sama sing a Japanese-language version of We Don't Talk About Bruno from Encanto as a lot of her Characters in which, we can do multiple versions of the same thing as many as we can (because of well, who wants to hear Hinata sing), featuring Toshiyuki Morikawa as the one and only, Dante, from, Capcom's, Demon-slaying, popular, Devil, May, Cry, series).

I love how what Koji said to Zero at the end turned out to be true, as a very high amount of mecha series have a homage to the Rocket Punch (like the Grungust's boost knuckle, and the Aestivalis' wired fist) Mazinger's Legacy lives. P.S. the other guy's voice is cringe.
isnt it the other way around, mazinger pretty much invented the super robot genre, and the vast majority of series is tied to its DNA. even series like gundam are variations on the mazinger arquetype.
And it seems this new series is such a love letter to the Giant Mecha genra, the newest SRW actually has both Mazinger Zero and Great Mazinkaiser appear despite they don't have anime adaptation yet.

Damn, it's so powerful that I think it might be singlehandedly the most broken unit in V, even if it's unit only. I can only imagine the day when all of these OP, planet-breaking, universe shattering machines all get into the same SRW game.
MacroniDude Still, for as popular as it may be, its more fun to have more unique units from different series rather than having many similar units from the same series. Dont have anything against Gundam in particularly, but looking at the rooster... Its pretty close to being more of a "SD Gundam Wars Starring: Super Robots" rather than an actual SRW at this point.

The Mighty Morphin' Megazord/Daizyujin got me interested in Giant Robots. Gundam Wing got me hooked on the Genre, but when I discovered Mazinger Z, that was truly the first time I wanted to learn the history of the Giant Robot genre in general. It was a real treat to learn what the Mazinger Zero manga is like, and to see quite possibly the most powerful version of the Mazinger!
Thank you so much for the video... That was literally mind-blowing. But it's kinda sad that Mazinkaiser is sorta shelved other than his SKL counterpart.... I'm still in denial of the Shin Mazinger's Koji due to nostalgia and that I'd never accept the fact that Mazinkaiser's role is being overtaken by Mazinger Zero in SRW V.... But as the ending suggests, my thought was more or less similar to that of Zero and that I guess it's time to let go and move on to the future. Ok, Shin Mazinger Zero, I'll be reading that manga with a clearer mind than before without any trace of denial lol.
In SRWV Shin Mazinger Zero combined with Shin Getter's getter rays opened up the possibility within Koji to become a god or a devil, it's his own will to change Mazinger Zero to it's Hell Mode form
I remembered seen this video years ago, now that the manga is translated and after reading it, the ending made me tear up a bit, Mazinger is passing the torch to the future generations either from the east or west mechas, Mazinger started it all and as long we keep going the Mazin Spirit will live on! P.S.: My headcanon is that was the first Super Robot Wars universe, and all Super Robot Wars games are consequences of these events.

Fantastic video! I had no idea Majinger Zero would get so deep like that. I think he's in the running for most powerful super robot after all that. I've enjoyed all your Mecha Talk videos so far, and I can tell from the end scenes that I'll like the next one a lot as well. As for ideas, have you considered looking into the Zoids series at all? There are some interesting bits to it, like the Organoids or the Battle Story.
Just imagine an anime made out of this with crazy metal bg music.... And just imagine with the animation style, voice acting style and overall crazyness of getter robo armageddon.... Maybe a top 10 anime of all times
Many robots will come and some DO surpass Mazinger's power but one thing that can't be changed is that Mazinger was the first MODERN robot hero to show "the way it was done." Yes, Giant Robo, Astro Boy, and Tetsujin-28/Gigantor came earlier but the way we think of giant robots today is BECAUSE of Mazinger Z.

@@180223 Also, what's the story behind that Other Kouji our Kouji is talking to? What research I've done suggests it's either Zero speaking to Kouji through this form, a version of Kouji that submitted to Zero, or a mix of the two.
Seen your video, loved it and now subscribed to your channel. I would love to see you do a video on Grendizer, its abilities and story themes and how it helped popularized anime in Central Europe (notably France and Italy) and the Arabic speaking part of the Middle East and has become a phenomenon in those areas (for example Lebanese singer Sami Clark still sings the Arabic version of the theme song in many of his stage appearances you can find several of them on TH-cam actually)

IIRC zero attacks are all physical, while mazinger z were mixed but focused on ranged, changing so abruptly could had lead to a loss in power, which it wasn't due to zero's absurd base damage. my endgame Tetsuya was outdamaging Koji just because of that, since Emperor and great mazinger were physically inclined, hence dropping points into the raw stats.

If you translate Koji Kabuto's name in order, it means "Hot Helmet". The name is quite apt for his character, not to mention that he's in the Pilder which serves as Mazinger's brain. ^_^

isnt it the other way around, mazinger pretty much invented the super robot genre, and the vast majority of series is tied to its DNA.
even series like gundam are variations on the mazinger arquetype.
And it seems this new series is such a love letter to the Giant Mecha genra, the newest SRW actually has both Mazinger Zero and Great Mazinkaiser appear despite they don't have anime adaptation yet.

The Mighty Morphin' Megazord/Daizyujin got me interested in Giant Robots. Gundam Wing got me hooked on the Genre, but when I discovered Mazinger Z, that was truly the first time I wanted to learn the history of the Giant Robot genre in general.
It was a real treat to learn what the Mazinger Zero manga is like, and to see quite possibly the most powerful version of the Mazinger!
Thank you so much for the video... That was literally mind-blowing. But it's kinda sad that Mazinkaiser is sorta shelved other than his SKL counterpart.... I'm still in denial of the Shin Mazinger's Koji due to nostalgia and that I'd never accept the fact that Mazinkaiser's role is being overtaken by Mazinger Zero in SRW V.... But as the ending suggests, my thought was more or less similar to that of Zero and that I guess it's time to let go and move on to the future. In SRWV Shin Mazinger Zero combined with Shin Getter's getter rays opened up the possibility within Koji to become a god or a devil, it's his own will to change Mazinger Zero to it's Hell Mode form

I remembered seen this video years ago, now that the manga is translated and after reading it, the ending made me tear up a bit, Mazinger is passing the torch to the future generations either from the east or west mechas, Mazinger started it all and as long we keep going the Mazin Spirit will live on!
P.S.: My headcanon is that was the first Super Robot Wars universe, and all Super Robot Wars games are consequences of these events.

Fantastic video! I had no idea Majinger Zero would get so deep like that. I think he's in the running for most powerful super robot after all that. I've enjoyed all your Mecha Talk videos so far, and I can tell from the end scenes that I'll like the next one a lot as well.
As for ideas, have you considered looking into the Zoids series at all? There are some interesting bits to it, like the Organoids or the Battle Story.
My Zoids knowledge is very limited but I don't mind doing some research on the various Ligers if I ever decide to do a Zoids video.

since none has reached end game yet in SRW V, let's make a wild mass guessing!! so for the final chapter of mazinger zero, yes he will erase other mechas in existence, but one entity will remain to stand against the demon-god incarnate (before Koji and Tetsuya bring back the gang as per series) - Yamato - because she's not a mecha series. then the Nadesico and the Gundams will come back through Yamato because their series' battleships where inspired by her. then the rest of crew comes back. also as an anniversary installment, they could use this event to show previous SRW games and other series that have been part of SRW.

@@180223 Also, what's the story behind that Other Kouji our Kouji is talking to? What research I've done suggests it's either Zero speaking to Kouji through this form, a version of Kouji that submitted to Zero, or a mix of the two.

I would love to see you do a video on Grendizer, its abilities and story themes and how it helped popularized anime in Central Europe (notably France and Italy) and the Arabic speaking part of the Middle East and has become a phenomenon in those areas (for example Lebanese singer Sami Clark still sings the Arabic version of the theme song in many of his stage appearances you can find several of them on TH-cam actually)
