In this update we take a look at the progress on the Smallwood Dam. A lot of work has been completed on the power house and the emergency spillway. The Smallwood Dam is located on what used to be Smallwood Lake. Smallwood Lake is located in Mid Michigan. This footage was filmed on August 16, 2023. This was after the collapse of the Edenville Dam on May 19, 2020. There was much flooding that occurred around the dam at the same time that the Edenville Dam collapsed on May 19, 2020. Wixom Lake was rapidly rising due to heavy rainfall and the Edenville dam could not hold back the water. The earthen embankment of the dam failed sending water rushing towards Sanford Village. The aftermath and damage left behind is devastating. Make sure you subscribe to catch the follow up videos I will be filming.

That's my question. If they don't, what a massive waste of money for the local area... Specially with the storms we get... Prolly some green new deal kick back going to get millions instead knowing our stupid governor
Anywhere there is a damn with resivprs this size, should have hydro elec plants... The emergency spillway is massive, should be a high water simple design hydro plant as well
None of the 4 dams will have a Generator system. Not cost efficient.

@@timsaleski7865 That's what they say. Most likely it is cheaper to keep with the gas generation they have set up now than build new plants. What a shame. And very short sighted.

??,Why is the power house being removed,considering the dam is still there. Why not keep it to produce ELECTRIC POWER Every Watt is needed. WEIRD
So if these dams aren’t gonna produce any more electricity and what’s the point of having the dams sounds like a waste of money in tax dollars oh that’s right so these people that have lakefront properties can still have a lake I guess that’s more important huh then producing electricity

🤦♂Until this work on Secord and Smallwood started, there had been very little worth documenting over the last several months. You'd know this if you checked in on the live cams at all. He can't record video of something that isn't happening yet.
