As someone who has both been hospitalized from being underweight due to anorexia, and has been extremely anxious from binge eating junk food and gaining weight,
I did really feel my mental health much worse when I gained weight from overeating, as well as sluggish and not wanting to do anything.
Same goes from when I almost died from anorexia.
Both extremes are bad and both promoting being underweight or overweight is wrong lmao.

the “blue-head” one is so sad because something happened recently in florida in which a 14 year old boy who was too large to get on a ride safely was allowed on and he fell out of the ride and died. it’s honestly disgusting that that woman would accuse the worker of fatphobia even though they were literally trying to save her LIFE.

Not related to “fat-phobia”, but dying on rollercoaster rides: there has been a case of a legless veteran who insisted on going on a rollercoaster, despite the staffs’ best efforts to convince him otherwise since the ride would be very, very dangerous for him. The test seat should be for your convience. Normally a responsible ride attendant should not let the ride go if the safety measures cannot lock in place. I wanted to go on the same ride the blue hair woman wanted to ride. Instead of going all the way up to the line for the Hogwarts ride I chose to test myself for my height and weight. I sadly missed out because of a mix of height and gut I chose to sit out instead of really trying to force it taking up other people's time. Every day I continue to eat badly and not work out is another day I choose to suffer. It is my choice to miss out on certain activities.

As someone who has an eating disorder, cutting out unhealthy and sugary foods isn’t gonna trigger an eating disorder. Eating disorders are more closely connected to your brain and works together with other issues such as body dysmorphia. this!! i also have an eating disorder, and it is because the people in my life fucking me up verbally since i was a child ( i was chubby when i was very little like, 5 years old and kept basically getting told that i was ugly for it because the adults in my life didn't know how to teach a child proper eating habits instead of just using the whole appearance thing which shouldn't even be a factor because it is heavily subjective ), and i'm sure these women may have grown up similarly but likely have eating disorders that lean more towards binging rather than desperately trying to lose weight although they could easily have eating disorders that are around trying to become skinny ( i mean, personally i'm not exactly underweight or thin but i still refuse to eat mot of the time and happen to y'know,, try to get food out of my body the second it goes in ) though i doubt they'd be making content like this if they had a eating disorder directed towards losing weight. but being told to eat healthier certainly isn't a bad thing, i mean it depends on the tone of course and who's saying it ( is it someone from your past who has already said things that would actually trigger an eating disorder or is it like a doctor or someone else who cares about your wellbeing like a family member or friend ), and the context, but generally it is not a bad thing to suggest that somebody should try to eat healthier.

@@draculaura_keyblade Damn that sucks. If you can't even do the basic thing to feed your family a healthy diet unless you literally can't afford to, why even think to be a parent? Healthy doesn't even need to mean to be full on eating salads, it just has to take adding meat, vegetables and whole grains, and you get to make it tasty on your own with seasoning and spices. Just the basic need to be healthy couldn't even be taught to a kid, that's so shitty.

Yep I remember that.... heartbreaking. It is insane to think we as a society can someone modify and change every for fat people to be able to fit in. Like on a plane, all the tickets get booked and a fat person fit in the seat, is someone else supposed to give up their seat? sorry little Johnny, you cant come on vacation with us, here is 70 bucks, get an uber home and then order pizzas for dinner, we will be home in a week or so. The human body was never ever meant to be overweight during evolution, that's why the health issues come with it, you would of never seen obese tribe members or native Americans living off the land. I do feel bad for fat people with whatever issues they deal with, but when you compare it to something like cancer it is nothing, no one cant lose weight, its as simple as eating less calories. Im twenty-three and found out I have a heart condition last year called brugada syndrome, so I lost 70 pounds and got to 170 and feel energetic, happier and overall better. No one can convince me that being massively overweight is healthier than being at a healthy weight, anorexia is the opposite side of the problem being too little weight. sorry for rant I just had a coffee after work and I'm relaxing and I'm passionate about this

Now I eat breakfast everyday but the breakfast isn't just bread and oatmeal, I'm pretty sure it's the 3x of what I usually take. My sister was a part of the opening team for Escape from Gringotts at the Wizarding World - she said she always felt so bad when she had to tell people they couldn’t ride because they couldn’t be secured properly. Watching all their joy and excitement fade as they realized they couldn’t do the thing they’d wanted most to do (and they wasted three hours in line to hear that news) was heartbreaking. She always did her best to make it as good an experience as she could, but at that point, there’s not much you can say.
It sucks. It’s not like the team members at theme parks _want_ you to have a bad time - on the contrary, they’re working there to bring joy and wonder to life and help you create amazing memories. They’re just doing what they _should_ do by prioritizing your safety over your temporary pleasure.
All that to say, if this person got seriously injured, she’d be pretty peeved too and most likely sue Universal. Eternal victim mentality; you just can’t win. It’s everyone else’s fault but their own.

My cardiologist was happy about my progress and told me that I just added 15 years to my life. All it takes to lose weight is simply to WANT to be healthy, and actually do something about it.
It doesn't necessarily have to involve transforming your whole life into a strict training regimen... You can just swap out your usual snacks for something healthier, drink water or freshly squeezed juice instead of soda.... etc...
Giving your body what it needs to put its metabolism back on track, is usually enough to start slowly losing weight.... believe it or not, your body is programmed to naturally get rid of excess weight, but it needs the proper conditions/environment to do so, same way an engineer is going to need a workshop to fix a car, the body needs a clean toxin-free environment to fix itself.
Obviously, you won't snap to ideal weight and become a freaking model just by eating right, you'll just lose enough weight to recover from MORBID obesity, you'll still be obese, but more in the green zone of obesity, somewhere around "chubby". :P

A friend of mine wanted to bungee jump many many years ago. He's very large; tall, fat and also carries a lot of muscle. He weighed well north of 300 lbs, and was denied a jump simply because the equipment they had couldn't safely handle anyone over 260 lbs (118 kilos). My friend understood this, and just said "oh, bummer, but I understand." Like any sensible person would, because they understand it's about their own safety.
There was no fat shaming going on. There was no singling fat people out just to oppress them. There was no evil conspiracy. There was no societal brainwashing that led them to deny him taking the jump. Just physics and his weight exceeding the maximum stress the equipment is rated to safely handle.
The bungee business - or an amusement park running a roller coaster - can't be expected to buy, maintain, replace and re-certify extremely expensive oversized equipment just so that a tiny fraction of the population can jump or ride too. There's no profit to such a business model. They would go bankrupt and not exist anymore.
But I kinda suspect that that is what people like the ones in this video actually wants. They don't really want to ride a roller coaster or go bungee jumping. They just want to make it so that people who aren't obese can't enjoy them either.

honestly I have no problem with fat people at all, like do whatever you want irdc just don't go around advocating for obesity. body positivity imo should be about accepting your body while trying to improve simultaneously (if you're not healthy or you have any realistic body goals etc), its nice if they're trying to tell fat people they're not "disgusting" and I genuinely feel bad if they're made to feel so, but saying "if you don't wanna be fat you're fat phobic" is literally not it.

I agree. It's okay to be fat or bigger than others as long as you're still eating your veggies and fruits and even doing exercises (even if it's light).
I hate it when I see comments that say "fat = ugly or disgusting" because that is not the case There are beautiful and handsome fat people out there and there are also those who are branded "fat" that are not that big at all. Some of them are just chubby or a little overweight which should be just fine.

    • @j.a.n.covers94
      @j.a.n.covers94 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I understand why fat people would like to be accepted (being fat myself) because we feel like people will only accept us if we are thin like models and that if we aren't, people make us feel like we aren't worthy of affection because of our weight; that the only thing that defines us as a person is how we should look and not who we are as a person. It really gets annoying when people look at you and always say "you should lose weight" or "I would have date/married you if you were not fat", etc. Like, I already heard that a lot of times, it's not gonna make me not fat or encourage me to be thinner for you.
However, saying that everyone should be fat (or rather obese because clearly the issue here is more of obesity and not just being fat) and that wanting to be healthy is fat phobic defeats the purpose of body positivity and/or fat acceptance. We want to be accepted for who we are as a person and not how we look but that doesn't mean that we demand other people to look like us. We should be accepting of all body sizes no matter if you are thin, normal size or plus size.

As a fat person, I can say that due to the weight I'm more lethargic, fatigued, and generally tired. The only time I ever felt like I had energy was when I started exercising to loose weight. I have a plethora of energy, I feel like I can conquer the world lol it's not "fatphobic" if it's a fact.
Also, person who was talking about preference is probably not looking to date overweight people, they're probably looking to date thin/fit people. They're just mad that they can't get a date with them lol

@@xmr.ai-emixc2918 It is ableist. I'm disabled, I think I know what the fuck I'm talking about. I didn't say being obese is a disability, I'm talking about disabilities, period. Expecting control from everyone when some people got health problems and then got fat is ableist. I'm not even that fat (64 kgs) but I've realized the past 6 years how it's not about discipline when your health was the first one to fail you. So yeah, this is ableist when you imagine every fat people is just lazy or lack control. Cuz in some cases they will literally never be able to go back like when their life used to be. Now sure, I absolutely despise hearing people blame the world around them when their body can still move around however they want and actually do something about it, but once you're already disabled, there is no more of that "glorious discipline". That's why I'm saying it's ableist to say. I've only been able to lose weight from good regular meals but it will never be any better since I cannot exercise like your regular guy.

    • @yopi_yopi
      @yopi_yopi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

This is also why some of the "just eat better" statement irks me. It's not the case for everyone and I'm sick people forget we too exist. We eat better meals than others, we try to stay alive and move around, we try harder than ever. You too could get hurt or ill one day, not be able to live like you used to and suddenly you can't control your weight anymore, you'll lose or gain too much and never find balance again. So yeah, it is ableist in its core in this way, as simple as that.

I once went on a rollercoaster ride with some of my brother’s friends when I was very young(9 to 10ish). We were put into the same seat as this women who was over the healthy weight amount. When we pulled down the bar that’s supposed to hold us down, it was in no way secure for me and my brother’s friends because we were much smaller than her. The workers there didn’t seem to care though. They just sent the ride off. I almost fell out and was terrified. It is there for your safety, and the safety of everyone else on the ride. Even the slightest bit of a weight imbalance can have absolutely devastating effects.

I feel so sad for them, man. I am overweight ever since and have gone through ED which made me lose weight quickly and then I gained more than I initially did, I am well will my relationship with food now and losing weight, slowly but surely. This has what the world has come to, when people think that their ideas are different from everyone they never think that maybe the wrong is them, its always the people or the society being villainous. I never really got the body positivity movement being mostly about fat people being accepted. By all means, love yourselves. However, I think the body positivity movement should go more on the people who can't change their looks, people who has gone through accidents, deformities, post pregnancy changes..etc. Fat people are accepted, but if we also make it as if being obese is normal, obese people would not do anything about themselves which is very very dangerous for their overall health.

See thats the thing, fat liberation is whats toxic, not the body positivity movement. The body positive movement is exactly what you said it should be, accepting things like scars and stretch marks, missing limbs, and unique frames.
Fat liberation started on tumblr as most toxic groups have, staying alive on Twitter before moving to tiktok where they've seen a new boost of enthusiasm and life unfortunately. Now the fat liberation group really latched onto the body positivity movements acceptance of different body frames, which was neutralizing things like actually having broadset bones/short torsos/etc, and instead made it about 'if YOU don't find me fuckable then YOURRE the/a problem'. And since the fat liberation movement is so loud, dumb, and willing to harm others that don't agree with them, people are now embarrassed to include themselves in the body positivity movement which is real and actually very good :)

A teenager actually did die on a ride because of that very issue.
The ride was that one tower thing that has you strapped in a chair and shoots you up with about 15 other people. He was clearly not in the range to go on and the seat couldn’t be able to carry him.
Unfortunately, the employee allowed him to get on because ~body positivity~.
As expected, the chair couldn’t accommodate him and he fell from the top.
Someone show her that article and see what she thinks of it. She’ll probably try saying “well they should make the chairs to accommodate large people!”, which would be a very poor argument since it would put the majority of people at risk for similar reason so they wouldn’t be able to ride.

Redhead, my response: Let's talk about Thinphobia. Let's talk about how if there was ever a zombie apocalypse that you'd fall behind as you ran away, screeching at the top of your lungs about the people running ahead of you are 'fat phobic' as the zombies are alerted to your direct location and will probably keep them well fed (occupied) for over two hours.
Greenhat, my response: No it's not, you're laziness is due to lack of energy because you haven't the stamina to maneuver. Historically fat women were seen as a sign of prosperity, well fed, well educated and of the wealth class whereas thin women were seen as of the poor class. In today's society, people over indulge on fatty foods, foods that are not healthy. Before it was woke TLC used to do documentaries on super obese individuals and their struggles, such as cleanliness. Not being able to clean between folds of fat causes rashes from sweat and eventually leads to gangrene, also the smell of rotting flesh which festers between folds.
Blue, my response: He's had training on how to prevent a lawsuit. It's 50/50 with this one. "Let me ride and get hurt so I can sue you!" Or "Don't let me ride and I sue you!" It's like the case with the horses.
Being fat is a choice. No one should suffer because of your bad decisions is what this boils down to!

I am someone who suffered from both binge eating disorder and anorexia.
In the first case, I was bullied for being fat, and although I wanted to loose weight so that people wouldn't make fun of me anymore, I wasn't able to stop eating.
When I was reaching adolescence, my doctor told me that I should loose weight because there was a huge risk I’d suffer diseases when growing older.
After that, I became super conscious of weight and I started to be OBSESSED with being skinny. I never got to the point of being extremely thin, but I was always thinking how to eat less, how to hide my parents the fact that I wasn't eating.
Both eds messed me up really badly, and they deteriorated my health.
It's okay if you like your body, that’s actually great. But PLEASE, make sure to put your health first and don't try to promote being overweight and underweight as something positive.

And I’m not even that fat, at 5’ 10’ and 235 lbs, y’all can do the math. I hate the way I look and feel. But I also would kinda like to not end up with a missing leg because of people like this. People who openly decided that them being grossly overweight (gross as in total, not appeal) isn’t something that could LITERALLY KILL THEM. I could legit FEEL the extra weight on me and it was awful. Between calorie deficit and getting more active I've never felt better. That's my preference. I dislike feeling heavy, or being unable to walk up to my home. If you wanna be plus size, good for you. But don't try and say that people are fatphobic just bc they don't share your preference, or bc they choose to believe the evidence that being plus-size comes with tons of heath risks! (that happens to come from medical professionals, might I add.) Making poor food choices on the daily is no better than smoking or drinking excessively. Maybe they'd feel different if we had windows to view what is happening to our insides, and the damage to our organs when we make less than stellar choices. Terrifying to think about, isn't it?
