- Relationships are a huge part of everyday life, from talking to friends, family or foe these interactions are important. The harry potter universe does a great job (better in the books) of exploring love, hate and “just friend” relationships. In this video let’s discuss what I think relationships will look like in Hogwarts Legacy.

I don't know about romance but maybe at least having crushes, hanging out together at The Three Broomsticks or something, confessing feelings, a kiss on the cheek (or maybe lips) but that's it, maybe if there was ever a party or a ball or festival you get to go with someone you like, like in the Harry Potter movie the Yule Ball..
I think there should also be romantic relationships since after all they are teens and romance is a big thing at that age. Of course not like The Witcher or Dragon Age's romances bc those are adults already. But teen romance in the game might make it more meaningful

Exactly. Not Mass Effect style (couldn't get into Dragon Age myself) but more akin to in the Harry Potter films. Sweet, not steamy.
@@blunthonesty8633 I mean there's nothing wrong with steamy romances where the main characters are adults, like DA and ME romances are totally nice and I love evry part of it but since Hogwarts Legacy is set around the ages of 11 - 18 perhaps a pg-13 romance should be fine and it would also be adorable bc at those ages is when one starts to get crushes and those sort of emotions.

I really hope there's romace in the game that's just sweet and wholesome like a quick kiss or dates and I'd love to go to a dance with one of the companions. I think some people get nervous at the idea of romance in the game becuse they think it's going to be explicit but there are other games like persona or even the harry potter mobile game that have romance with minors. Nobody thinks they're creepy and it's because romance wasn't done in a sexual way in those games, so I hope we have something like that in the game.

On the topic of this, I'm hoping for a Mass Effect squad system where we can befriend multiple people from all houses and decide who comes with us on certain quests, then we have like a companion quest to gain their trust and also help us gain the option to romance them. But, a level trust system seems fun too!

Personally for me I think it would be great to be able to develop a romantic relationship, from a choice of several characters if you want to. Nothing too in-depth obviously, due to the nature of the game. But I think to a large group of those playing (young people & adults, etc), having meaningful and innocent connections; being able to go on dates and so on, while having your choices potentially impact your relationships - whether platonic or romantic. It would add an immersive level of depth to the game as a whole, with the potential to interact with our emotions, in a way that might not be possible without it. It 100% should be your choice though if you want to, and only serve to enhance the game. I would be disappointed even regardless of whether ‘romance’ wasn’t in the game, if our friendships were not meaningful.
However, I completely get it if the people who are more older than myself; would not want to engage in that aspect of the game, if it is there.

100%! That’s the main thing that matters and I do think we won’t have to worry about the game lacking this.
I really hope they're more then just one friend for each house. The reason I like games with companions is because there are multiple unique characters you get to know. I guess the locking houses thing makes sense, like faction companions in Fallout 4, but I would really like to not be restricted by that and just be friends with who I want. Yes, this is coming from a Hufflepuff and, yes, I wanna be Sebastian's friend. I have a track record of being best friends with Slytherins 😅
I agree with you I want to be able to pick any companion or friend no matter what house I’m in! I can’t wait to see who the ravenclaw companion is!
I like the idea of the “Approve/Disapprove” system like in the Dragon Age games and whenever you talk to them they express their thoughts on the discussions you made

I want romance for sure. I thought I heard you age within the game so in the beginning it starts small and innocent and grows with time as you get older. I read an article that said "New Harry Potter RPG rumors claim that the game will have its own Nemesis System, romance and a dark story." So I'm hoping for all that.

There were so many times I was playing and screaming at the screen saying, “Bro! She wants you!!!”
I just went back and listened to the "companions" section of the state of play event. My attention was grabbed by part of a line that said: "You'll meet these students and more..." The 'and more' bit would seem to say we could have more than one companion per house.
To use the films as an example: There was Harry, Hermione and Ron. Then, on the 'Dark Side" there was Draco, Crabbe and Goyle. Our inner circle of close friends might be small (three or four people or so), but I do feel like we could get more than one per house.
On the other side of the coin, I don't see us being "best buddies" with a tremendously big group. Not even if we made our character the kindest soul in the history of Hogwarts.
I agree! I think your tight circle will be small and no more than 5 people. When you go back and watch that state of play you pick things up that you missed! I was I’m so much shock watching it for the first time I missed so much!
companions section hope got some good romance inside it
I think that its going to have a Mass Effect companion system. It doesnt matter in which house you're placed, you will have access to all of them and it depends enterely to you if you go deep in the relationship or not... If you're close enough then you can do his/her personal quest to gain maximun affinity/romance.

I think some form of romantic relationships would make the most sense in Hogwarts Legacy not like witcher but dates or dances think it would enhance the immersion since I'd imagine everyone had crushes and dates during that age wouldn't want it to go past kissing and the occasional cringe teenage flirting that we all tried lol

@@NightlyNerd_ Cho is 16-18 in book 4-6 and she first goes out with a 17 year old (Cedric) and then she tries to go out with a 15 year old (Harry). Hermione is 16 by Halloween of '94 and she goes to the Yule Ball with a 17-18 year old Victor Krum. Ginny is 13-15 in book 4-6 and she goes to the Yule Ball with 14 year old Neville Longbottom, and then she goes out with Michael Corner (15) and then Dean Thomas (15-16) and then going out finally for little while with Harry Potter (!6). Ron only ever went out with Lavender Brown so both were 16-16 (until March 1st, Ron's birthday) but after the end of the Second Wizarding War that He finally goes out with Hermione so (18-18 until Sept 19th, when Hermione will be 19)

While the target audience for Hogwarts Legacy probably varies, I think the developers (being fans themselves) know that a majority of their players will be in their early to mid twenties and above, since Harry Potter is such a nostalgic affair for most of us who grew up with it. And with that in mind, I can see them avoiding the romance factor altogether. However, it'd be a bit unrealistic given the apparent age of the MC, and also likely depends on how many years/semesters we're allowed to experience, if there's a timeskip etc. I don't think you have to worry about Witcher-esque romance cutscenes here, HP as a brand is waaay too PG for that, thankfully. What I'd like to see is a variety of companion options regardless of the House you pick beyond just the two characters we see in the trailer, (I'm fine with 'main' ones being route-locked but there should still be a way to interact with them or gain their 'affection', in RPG terms). And maybe a romance system similar to Persona 5, which did it pretty well and never made me feel weird even though I was like 20 when I first played the Vanilla version of the game. My only complaint there was the lack of queer romance options, which I'm hoping doesn't come up in Legacy, since the main cast appear to be pretty diverse. A Fire Emblem style S-rank system could also be cool, where you only get with the person you wish to romance at the very end of the game or get to choose them as your date during balls or festivals. Either way, I'm gingerly hoping Hogwarts Legacy actually delivers on everything it's promising, since Companions are likely a big part of the draw for anyone looking for a true Harry Potter RPG experience, and they've already tried to sell it as such.

I don't think you'll be only be able to befriend the companion(s) you share a house with during companions part of the video we see the MC talking with Poppi and Sebastian while wearing Gryfindor robes as for romance....well they are hormonal teenagers I don't see WB doing full on see scenes but probably just basic hand holding and the like

I think they should have romance options, now when I mean that I don't mean like them having sex with each other of course.
Look at how Harry Potter and Ron and Hermione how they were as they grew. Hand holding a small kiss on the cheek. Showing love without being nude.
i definitely agree about wanting romantic relationships under specific conditions. i would love the ability to develop romantic relationships and go on cute dates or unlock special interactions with that companion but obviously nothing explicit and this doesn't seem like a game that would have that anyway.
i don't want to say I'll be disappointed if there aren't romantic relationships because the game looks amazing regardless, but I'm still crossing my fingers there will be.
I hope we could have many friends and also a cute relationship. And I also hope that these relationships will take a part in the main story
I feel like dating should be a thing is game And like You can meet and choose to take your date out on dates or do quest with and build a bond I feel like that would be awesome
For my Hogwarts characters on each house, I might make them inspired by my queer icons from fiction and real life: Seb/Joe Serafini (High School Musical The Musical The Series) for Hufflepuff, Carlos/Frankie Rodriguez (High School Musical The Musical The Series) for Ravenclaw, Charlie Spring/Joe Locke (Heartstopper) for Slitheren, and Nick Nelson/Kit Connor (Heartstopper) for Griffindor.

I know it's going to possibly get boring after a while but despite all the many personality tests that it's me and other people take
I fully intend to replay the game four or more different times so I can pick each house just to see the different impacts of the game. Because they said it was players choice so I would very much be interested in experimenting with it just like when you pick her choose what to say or who you want to end up with like on The Witcher 3 wild Hunt
I agree with you bro. I want to build friendships and have them help me along on my journey, to also help them and learn thier stories. I feel like a little kiss is how far it should be, going to the school dance like in the movies also with the person of interest.
Call me old fashioned but I just don’t think anything more than that is necessary in a video game!
Same here bro, I am a little old fashioned too. I would prefer more story elements, quests and more customizations for characters. Also I hope we can sit down with all our companions at Hogsmead or in the Great Hall, stuff like that would make more sense.

I really REALLY want them to add a DLC where we can form better friendships but as well as romantic relationships with the characters I honestly think that it would make it so much cuter and interesting like going to hogesmead on a date of flying brooks together ! I’d love to be able to create a romantic relationship with a character from the game !
I doubt this could happen but I would be a total Ice Queen slytherin like Cassandra Vole, being a goody two shoes wears me out.

I feel like romance is always a fun mechanic for RPG games and games like it. You don’t have to make a X rated dating sim like The Witcher to make the characters and world feel more real. Something a bit like Mass Effect or Dragon age without some of the spicy bits would be great.
I do want romance but I'm also alot younger than alot of people who will play this game I'm only 18 so I can understand why it would feel weird for older players

I think in the future there maybe a trailer on companion and also relationships cause we do not know much about who is the companion and relationships.
I hope they do a full trailer on just that rather than a small minute section in a bigger info dump!

Is he talking about the three characters that eat were already programmed to the game or is he saying that other characters are optional to befriend other than the ones that have been programmed into the game
I mean it is canon that there's stuff like the Yule Ball so we might have a chance of inviting companions as the dance partner to certain events requiring a plus one. I'm far more curious at this point on how classes will be handled. If it is a video game then going to classes every day would seem like a chore unless it is a minigame in terms of how well we do in class... which might be somewhat similar to how the game Bully handles that aspect of the game. As interesting as it may be to attend a wizarding school, I do not want to spend an actual school year attending class in this game as if it were for real.

I mean I don't really agree on the romance front, a lot of the fans like myself are teenagers and early 20s and you do realize that 15,16, 17+ year olds do have romantic relationships and actually they do a lot more than kiss but let's not get into that lol, my point is that this ridiculous idea that romance is sex has got to go, I want to have a significant other cutesy relationship with which I can go on dates with and maybe that'll translate into XP or extra abilities etc... Also, not sure if you've played it but with the mobile game Hogwarts Mystery I believe you can start dating and having romantic relationships in your 3rd year which is 13-14 year olds, I don't play Hogwarts Mystery because the micro transactions suck, but the "romance" aspect is just flirting and being nice and going on dates, which is what I want in Hogwarts Legacy since we're much older than 3rd years.

@@NightlyNerd_ yeah ew no, even I just left the room during those cutscenes cus I have no interest in Geralt and *insert any woman in the game with lines here* getting it on. Also I do understand 30, 40 etc... year olds not being comfortable with it at all and it definitely shouldn't be obligatory (which it wouldn't be) and maybe even a setting at the beginning of the game were you can toggle on and off romantic relationships, that would be very cool for those that don't want it at all and aro/ace people as well.
@@NightlyNerd_ I'd be okay with the Witcher 3's 'formula' romance, just not the more extreme themes, you know give you the option to romance your companions, and if you romance too many main love intrests it just kind of blows up in our face, more in tune with the lines of persona 5's style of romance.

Anyway, looking over at the faq i dont think they are gonna put a romance mechanic. Its always judged on minuscule level, like why there is not enough screen time, if there are same-sex relationship or not and how many are there etc.
Its extremely "odd" indeed! Teenagers KISSING in a SCHOOL??? Ive never seen that happen in my life! LMFAO Romance between people at the height of puberty could NEVER happen! :D - especially in the 19-th century when..... alot of people actually were marrying young, and having lots of children fast cuz.... ya know, not much medical help if your one or two children get sick and die, and the family dies out. Im sure 15-16 year olds in the 19-th century didnt even DARE to touch the opposite seggs! Just like today they were probably conditioned by media, to be ashamed and fear to even talk to a woman, so she wont lawsuit them for harassment! Everyone was a smiling peasant, just like those big food corporation commercials on "ethical workers" in 3rd world countries where they say: "I have potato blood in my veins! I dream of potatoes! My life is potato!" Im sure no peasant boy ever decided to touch a girl in school! Let alone children in an aristocratic, magic school setting of the same period! lol (((Jokes aside, nothing "odd" about it. I dont see what you found odd about it? I mean Harry Potter was indeed children's books and movies, but i doubt all the couples on the Jule ball were "platonic" and temporary. Especially in the upper classes, which in this game you will be a 5-th year, not a toddler 1-st year.)))
Let’s not get it twisted, I didn’t think it was weird when I was a teenager but now that I’m older I don’t want to see any Witcher cutscenes in hogwarts legacy. Would they show anything… probably not. Are they mostly still underage… yes. I think a bit of flirting, kissing, having a relationship is fine let’s just not go overboard!
Romance isnt just about getting naked, things like going on dates and stuff would be a nice add to the game - that is ofcourse if they make a good dialogue system, where you're not just a nodding silent avatar. And ofcourse if they actually make enough romance options, cuz there is a possibility we might just be stuck with the trailer characters, just 1 per house and no real choice whatsoever. Should be atleast 1 boy, 1 girl per house.

For fucks sakes finally someone gets it 😂 that's exactly what I was getting at, I mean if you're older than say 25 I can understand being "uncomfortable" with teenagers (not "children" as some people can't stop saying) having sex, I'm not uncomfortable at the idea because for me that wasn't but 7 years ago and I remember it clearly. I'm not saying that sex should be in the game at all nor will it be, but this prudish illusion some people have that teens don't do WAY more than kiss at 15-16 is just ridiculous. What I don't want is for the prudes to ruin the possibility of romance NOT SEX in this game for us the romantics, romance is a big part of a game's immersion, the best RPGs have it, it's actually one of the few things I didn't like about "Outer Worlds". But anyway, there are some people that need to get it through their thick skulls that #1 Romance isn't sex, and #2 This is FANTASY, also not everyone that's going to play this game is 30+ if you are and don't want to do it then don't because it won't be obligatory (if it's even in the game at all since there's been zero sign of it) if you do, do because it's a video game. I love the hypocrisy of some people wanting to murder classmates in this game but think romance is going too far lmao. Also I mentioned in another comment something people are either unaware of or are completely ignoring, "Hogwarts Mystery" has romance options starting in 4th year! As for your comment about the Yule Ball, funny you should mention that, because in the movie there was actually a scene where Harry passed a bunch of couples kissing, sneaking away, and having sex behind bushes, in carriages etc... And that scene was cut 🙄 should tell you something about this uptight society.
so what about all the hand holding in Madame whose it Teashop? Or about the make out session done by Ron and Lavendear (and the only make-out session done by Ginny and Dean)?

As much as I love these ideas of yours, I fear this whole game will be unplayable on some devices, especially PCs, laptops, etc. The game so far provides us with so much graphic details and open world scenario that I feel like its gonna blast graphic controller and RAM. I feel like the minimum requirements already exceed what my laptop can handle. I hope the developer and graphic content designer find a way to make it playable even if you don't have the latest setup of gaming devices.
I think you can rest easy knowing that if it can run on Nintendo switch… there should be graphics settings on pc that you can tune to your device

Well, if chocolate Well, if Hogwarts legacy is about Hogworts, a school, if you think back to when you were in school, there was romance, why not make the experience more real. Course there should be romance.
Romance could work , keep it pg 13 of course like you could go on dates to hogsmead or on the grounds and they help you out kiss and hold hands but that's it

There is no reason not to have a romantic relationship in this game, minus the sev aspect. Harry Ron etc all had some form of relationships. IF there were a romantic aspect then you would be more protective of that person.

I thought the game was going to let you have relationships with those three characters. Not a just because you're in the same house with them. I would think it's kind of like as long as you're in the right time and place the parts that the game is programmed to then the events will happen you just have to do certain things to activate the events with the other characters
Pretty sure they said there is no dating/romance in this game. Your companions are friendships and nothing more. Maybe you can gets perks for having a stronger friendship, but that's probably it. The characters in the game are only 15 and WB Games knows about 60% or more of the fans playing Hogwarts Legacy will be in the late-twenties/early-thirties. It would be creepy and problematic.

@@NightlyNerd_ They didn't. Also, Hogwarts Mystery had romance ADDED because of the overwhelming fan requests for it. Romance doesn't automatically equate to full on sex scenes as people seem to think. In the mobile game it's for events like dances and festivals and simple dates which would work perfectly for this game as well.
I agree, a nice little date or school dance would be an awesome addition especially if you get to pick who you go with!
Dear gods, another one. The only thing "creepy and problematic" is how so many people can't get it through their thick skulls that romance is not the same as sex, and what does our age in the game have to do with anything? There are literally dozens of games where the characters are teenagers and there's romance, are those games played just by teenagers? No. I'm very uncomfortable with how so many people seem to be trying to make this topic into something gross and wrong when talking about the possibility of friendships turned into love (in a fantasy game) is anything but.
@@SmearyBridges They didn't say that exactly. As you said Hogwarts Mystery has romance, and it's a silly mobile game suffocatingly full of micro transactions. That's why I feel like the developers of Hogwarts Legacy will really have dropped the ball if they don't put romance in the game. Tbh I really would love the option for romance. Of course, it’s not something that would be NEEDED for me to play the game but if they do it just adds to the immersion factor & the role play factor of the game. Since it is an RPG choice should be a big thing so providing that as an option in my eyes is a good thing. Also I’m extremely single and want some cute fluff moments like a kiss on the cheek, little walking dates, dances, and anything else that you would do for a date. 🥹
