    This is very true. Gap years from high school are good. Wish I would’ve take one. Going in to college I was unsure of what to study and wasn’t sure what to study.

      I'm currently taking my Gap Year still. I actually graduated from highschool back in May of this year (2022). Originally I wasn't going to take a Gap Year but since I wasn't really sure and not ready for college right away I told my grandparents, that I live with, that I was going to work for a while and make some money. They thought that would be a good idea and so did I. Although I'm thinking of starting my 1st year of college sometime this spring I'm thinking/considering doing online classes while I work at my 1st job still.

      SAME I would’ve benefited from a gap semester, but I thought I was best to power through 🙄

    High schools are toxic in most places. It's all about tests and nothing else. Yes, some of the information you learn there is important, but it has become a race to prove who can get most A's and get the best test scores. (Which don't actually matter in the real world.)

      Even if they did, they are still not fine imo

    I'm currently on my Gap Year right now. Although I originally wasn't going to take a Gap Year i decided, during later this summer, that I'd wait and go to college sometime soon in the new year (2023). Since I also just graduated highschool back in May of this year (2022) I wanted to work for a while and save up some money for my community college that I want to attend. I remember when I was thinking about my college plans and stuff that I told my grandparents, that I live with, that I'd wait until either this spring or summer of 2023 to start college classes. And they thought that that was a good idea. Also with working in fast food I also, sometimes, tell customer about my college plans and how I'm wanting for college and they usually say that that is a good idea that I did.
    So in short I do think that taking my Gap Year was a good idea. Hopefully here soon I can start my way to getting enrolled at my community college but I'm going to wait until the new year starts and go from there. And possibly do some of my classes online as well

    Am on a gap year right now, and my friends we all enrolled together are graduating this year. I am really happy for them but deep down it hurt me every second of the day, I can't sleep, I can't eat well, and I have been blaming myself, I somehow feel like a loser right now. I really don't know how to get through this.

      I think it's important to understand and expect that this is what you may feel like for the first couple months of your gap year. Everyone is moving forward in life, and you may feel as though you're taking a step behind. It'll feel lonely since you're not going to be going to a school surrounded by your friends for majority of the day. However it's alright, this is just a season of time right now, don't soak in all these emotions and sit idle but get active!
      Here are some suggestions I suggest you do during this time (if you haven't already):
      - Watch videos on those who went through a gap year(or anyone you know) like you. It helps getting understanding from people who've been in your situation
      - Exercise or dieting
      - Research the benefits/programs/life experience at the college you applied for
      - Look at videos you can find about what to do in preparation for college
      - Seek job opportunities around your community
      - Take time to learn some practical life habits (discipling yourself, doing taxes, how to budget, how to cook, learning how to build up credit, what insurances you'll need depending on what you're investing in, etc.)
      A gap year is good time period to really mentally catch up with yourself, so don't regret the decision you made, you took a privilege that many college students like you would wish they took. Take care!

    To be honest I can’t tell if I should have taken a gap year because after high school I went to east bay in San Francisco and I live in San Diego and it cost a lot of gas money to get there , also my tuition was all paid for except for my housing and I was charged 5,200 dollar, I made a payment plan that way I could work and pay it on time but I couldn’t meet the payment deadline because I used that money for the gas in order to come back to San Diego , and I didn’t pay the deadline for December and I was told that I owed 670 dollars and I only had three days to pay for it other wise it would go to my record which shows I didn’t pay on the deadline I agreed to and it will stay there for 7 years , and I haven’t founded a job yet , i really wish I would have taken a gap year to just focus on saving money but I don’t think if I have taken a gap year I would truly start working for the money because I’m not in the situation I am now , I always asked myself if going to college would be worth it but honestly I went to college because I had a dream but now I’m not sure sure I can reach that dream. I’m going to see what happened in the future and after 1 year and half , if I have paid off my payment plan and been able to raise enough money and scholar ship , I’ll transfer to a college in San Diego , if I couldn’t save enough money and scholarships I’ll ask my councilors and teachers and old high school teachers what I should do , if it seems that I can’t be able to go to college then I will leave college and start working again to pay off my debt that I may own , I apply for the fasa but I hear that you have to pay it back in 6 months for 50 dollars a month , depending on how much my tuition was paid I’ll have to start paying for it for about 10 years , I’m glad I was about to go to community college and apply for a program that gives me two years of free tuition

      Same! In the beginning I was kind of anxious and was really doubting my decision especially since my peers were all talking about colleges and are now getting accepted into their colleges. But, I've realized that this is definitely what I want to do. I want to try doing something creative and new. Step of the pre built road and take my own path for a bit, enjoy the scenery rather than racing into the future.

    Gap years are for rich kids. The truth is covid just obliterated this argument because stress is not important. Life is important. A gap year with no direction is just the same as a gap with direction. You benefit nothing but figuring things out or not. Experience the world... internship, travel, and all the things only the wealthy can do. What a load.

    • @n.a3642
      @n.a3642 3 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      I sort of disagree. Who said you need to be rich to do internships? Sorry, I agree with some of what you said but you sound like you don't really know what you're talking about.

      The federal government has a program called Americorps NCCC which is perfect for high school graduates of any family income level. They provide food, housing, and travel expenses, a living stipend, and if you complete the ten month service term an education grant of over $6,000.

      Bruh there are so many ways to do gap years for free. Volunteering for a non profit in a different country which provides housing. Or work for a resort or ski resort.

    Video games shouldn't even be allowed in college dorms.

    • @ErutaniaRose
      @ErutaniaRose 4 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      I disagree. I myself use video games as a tool to reward myself (after doing work) and to cool off. It can also help cope with stress since it can give a small amount of escapism. If it is handled like that and not as an addiction, I believe video games can be quite useful.
