Recovering from a Year of TERRIBLE Prison Food

  • The food in prison/country jail was horrible. And I was forced to live on it for over a year. This is my effort to get back on track with my eating habits.

    I absolutely loved chocolate when I was younger. I mean loved it! I decided to become more healthy but struggled with people offering me treats. I started saying I didn’t like chocolate or cake etc. Fast forward years later…I don’t like chocolate! I don’t like cakes! It’s bizarre what your mind can do. I actually convinced myself I don’t like these things 😂. I tried to eat a piece of chocolate a while back and it was actually unpleasant.😮

    This video is so relatable! I love nutritional yeast on Skinny Pop popcorn. I also struggle with always having temptations in front of me (usually not by my choice). I also have GI issues (just had my first colonoscopy at 29 to rule out anything malignant). I hope your diet is still going well! Great choice in music btw - all your song choices/artists have been great. I love The Smile and Jeff Buckley.

    Prison food! Did you ever get the loaves of mashed up crap molded into a loaf?
    I ate the food some while working as an officer, but it was mainly scrambled "fake" eggs.😁

    Just came upon your channel. Good job setting a food routine. Your idea of eating some oatmeal is a good idea. It's quick and nutriois and you can add a lot of things in to change the flavor up. Chopped apples, cinnamon and brown sugar are my faves.

    I’m by far not a health food expert, but I started reading up and watching videos from proven individuals. Please research the almond milk that your using. Although I’m unable to quote the studies (I’m sure you can find them). They’re starting to say that almond milk is not a good choice. Something to do with the skin. Anyways, just a suggestion from someone who readily admits her shortcomings. Good luck darling

    You came up in my newsfeed so I just started watching your second video which is this one. I am a retired Registered Nurse and I always wondered how Nurses, doctors, lawyers etc took the chance to risk it all after working so hard to obtain their degrees and having a profitable income. I plan to watch them all!! Keep getting your messages out to those who need it. After watching the first one I’m motivated to get rid of STUFF 😂. Thank you! 😊

    Another thoughtful and constructive episode Brian. I had the benefit of several years of personal coaching in my past. Through it I learned about many things I should be doing but the key to the success was my personal accountability to actually do the things. Kudos to you for maintaining the discipline to do what is right. I have a thought regarding your meals. I try to make my meals an "occasion" by not eating standing up or out of serving containers. I go through the ritual of sitting at the table and using a nice plate and glass and I believe that I eat better and enjoy it more as a result.

      They were called that because it looks EXACTLY like canned cat food in between two pieces of soggy bread 😆. Sometimes we would spice them up by adding some crunchy top ramen noodles if we had any 😁

      Yeah it's pretty great. Of course, I'm a sucker for anything that Thom Yorke or Jonny Greenwood does so I recognize that I have a strong bias. Haha. I also really like track "Free in the Knowledge"

The first video i saw was the one about your time getting clean in jail and the second one was your journey with your wife and your final days as a doctor i forget what you are called officially, sorry.     Advice: eat more animal based, cut leafy greens, seeds, grains, eat more beef/lamb/elk, eggs, raw cheese and some fruit..will change ur body in 10 days. Cheers
