I got so excited when I saw you've uploaded a vid! I saw a copy at Yellow Submarine in Japan when I visited last year, put it back down and was kicking myself ever since but now I think I'll wait for this version instead. Great vid as always!
I ordered this from Amazon Japan but subsequently realized there was no source for English rules so this video is very helpful! Even with a bit of guesswork on the rules my son and I are having a blast playing this!! 😁 It sounds like the green missions can only be scored by one player which I didn’t figure out. Thanks for the great video!
I'm sitting here trying to figure out if its worth it just to get the upgrade pack as if I had the old edition. It's just two extra landmarks and some ui boards but... it would also be extra cars for scoring tracks and maybe I would pick up 6 player??? @@CardboardEast
@@Xorrel Tough call. Normally, I’d suggest doing want would cause the game to get played more with your game group, but this is a JP game, and they’re hard to get. However, itten does go to Gen Con, and if you do too, then it may not be an issue for you.
@@mywalterego9248 Thanks. 😅 I didn’t mean to sell it. I just wanted to create a video that would have everything I would like to see if I were new to the game. But I do love it!
Just got my copy turn up. Had a game last night, loads of fun! I got the 2 player expansion as well so we can play 6 player, it all just fits in the main box as well, I've done a photo guide of how to do that on BGG 😁
@@CardboardEast honestly I'm going down an Asian game hole lol, loving your channel and rules explanations, looking forward to some of the games you bought back from Essen.
Great impressions video. I've played a few times the now old version. Was super interesting but way too fiddly. Puting everything back together again after a piece fell was a pain. It triggered like a chain reaction of penalties haha!😅 Talking about Top 100, when are you continuing with last 30? You stopped at the best part. Looking forward to that.
Great review thanks...I'm new to Tokyo Highway and was just about to pledge for the base game and Rainbow City expansion. You say that in a four-player game, there are not enough roads so I was wondering if I needed to order the two-player set as well (for more roads) or is the four-player game is limited to a set number of roads anyway, so no point ordering extra roads?
You can play 4p with Rainbow City. I just personally wanted a few more roads to make the game a wee bit longer. You could also pick up the 2p version, so you'd be able to play up to 6p
Kaizen applied to a boardgame? Looks like one of Itten’s better games instead of being quirky for its own sake. Is it a large design team or just a few interesting designers behind Itten?
Excellent question. I’m not sure. I haven’t heard of anyone Stateside picking up the license for this game. However, the KS should fulfill by the end of the year, so some may appear in the secondhand market a month later. People always be flipping games. If you do go secondhand hunting, be sure you get Rainbow City and not the original version of the game. 👍
So, do you think one could get around the too few roads in 4 players using 2 sets...it doesn't sound like there's any aspect of the rules that would be compromised playing 6 or 7 players either if one took this approach? One might even have the cars to score with too! Cheers.
Thank you for your prompt response. I think that I will also pursue the possibility of a 4th player add-on road pack (boosting to 11 each per your suggestion) in the comments. As I haven't played this game I am thinking that suggesting an extra intersection and three(?) columns/player in that add-on might help as well. Does this sound useful to your experienced eye? Thanks. @@CardboardEast
@@stephenfarrell8587 I actually really like the restriction of yellow junctions. It makes the game tighter and forces you to plan ahead. But yes. I personally feel 4p games are a bit too short.
Cool. Just looked and they are offering a 2-player add-on already 😁. So don't need to ask for more (I haven't pledged yet), sweet. Looks like one can then easily play a 4-player game with more roads but then with 6...ah, buy 2 2-player add-ons! Thanks for the chat, Jay. Cheers. @@CardboardEast
Fair point. I don’t think it’ll be an issue. I was worried about Crash Octopus’ paper flags, but those have held up after countless plays. I’m sure itten has put just as much thought into the non-wooden components for Tokyo Highway Rainbow City.
Wasn't even looking for this game anymore, but a local store stocked up just now. I'm trusting your word on this again.
This is leaps and bounds the best version of this game. The locations and scoring add A LOT to the game and the table presence is spectacular.
🎉🎉🎉 welcome back! Nice set up behind you. Thank you for a great video on Tokyo Highway 😊
Thanks for watching! It’s soooooo goooood to finally be back!

Thanks! It’s already live on Kickstarter, so you won’t have to wait too long 😉 Link in description 👍
Nice, always thought about getting this. Glad I waited for this version!
You're lucky! This is the best version of it that I've played!
at last! you're back!!!
Sooooooo good to be back!
If you want to use the scoreboard, you can use the starting sedans as score markers.
Goood call!! I’ll try that for our next game!
Nice to see you back!
Thanks. Good to be back!
Such a great overview! 🤗And I learnt a lot about the history of the game also. Thank you!

Thanks for watching! Glad I could help out. Yes, the Green Ones are only scored by one and only one player!
Another thing the Amazon one doesn't come with are any of the kickstarter stretch goal Extra's incase you want the harbor or amusement park etc.

A small few. I honestly don’t know many “large design teams” in Asia. Usually, there’s one designer and a small handful of developers.
I’m confused - is it possible to play the game without the base? I thought it was an expansion.
Yes. It is a stand alone expansion!
any idea when this will be available in the US fir purchase?
