I think the Forest Green is a massively underrated color for the Rivians. The Green Machine!
While driving on the freeway in Southern California I was passed in excess of 75 mph by an R1 towing a 25-foot Airstream trailer. Both had Texas plates. Not sure how often he had to stop to charge. I was hoping he would exit the freeway because I really wanted to speak to him but due to traffic I couldn't catch up to him. Really impressed.
The R1S can tow 11,000 pounds and you won't even notice the trailer. They are very impressive. Now as far as towing range..not so much.

Duke I wholeheartedly agree with regards to the price of the vehicle $100k is TOO MERCH for an EV PERIODT!!!! That is why I am waiting for 2026 to pull the trigger on my EV purchase....
Hopefully intrest rates will be a lot lower, and there will be a lot more charging stations.

Its worth the price for the power, but most people will be fine with much less, and they don't need the off-road capabilities either. That's were the R2 will fit in.

In the interest of "keeping it real" as I know you want to do, one drawback of Rivian is they don't have EV heat pumps which are more efficient for cooling and heating. Almost every EV manufacturer is adopting heat pumps and so will Rivian eventually. When Rivian gets heat pumps, the frunk will be much smaller in space so don't get too attached to Rivian frunks. Also, end-of-life removal of refrigerant (by scrap yards) can be a drawback (as it is now in ICE vehicle air conditioners and EV batteries). I researched “safe” refrigerants online and it seems R134yf is starting to be used instead of R134a (R134a contains Fluorine) in vehicles (this may just be the ICE vehicle standard air conditioners-not sure) as a safer alternative and R407C (contains Fluorine) is being used in buses as due to high thermal exchange rate (this may just be the ICE bus air conditioners-not sure). I'm a Chemist and my husband is an HVAC Contractor so I study this crap. LOL.
I've never heard of rhe refrigerant in a heat pump needing to be disposed of, it's a closed loop system. Not something most consumers are worried about. A heat pump would be nice but as an R1S owner myself, I've not found loss from cold weather to be that significant as long as I preheat the battery before departing. Better autonomous driving would be nice too, but the Rivian is still an awesome vehicle for $75K.
@@Aegisx5 I agree. Rivians are awesome!!! I want the R3X someday. We have an R1T and Ioniq 6 (with a heat pump). I have virtually no frunk in the Ioniq 6 because the heat pump takes up the whole frunk. Teslas have smaller heat pumps so a little bigger fruncks than in my Ioniq. I meant end-of-life refrigerant removal by scrap yards so I will amend my comment.

Good choice! We were really close to getting a Lyric, but I don't care for the dealerships. That alone was worth the extra cost of the Rivian. Plus the Lyric doesn't have a front trunk, and my wife uses the Rivian front trunk all the time.

Does this car have air suspension? I just saw one of these driving in front of me today. I noticed it was sitting uneven when we were at a stop light and looked somewhat bouncy when driving down the street. The car was brand new and still have paper plates on it but seems like it's already got issues. I'm curious how's the reliability and build quality of these cars.
I have the R1S and the R1T, and I haven't experienced anything like that. In fact, I was so impressed with the R1T that I got the R1T as well. I did have a few minor issues (a panel gap and headlight adjustment) that were corrected in a few hours.
how's the sound system compare to the R1T? im assuming you have the Meridian Elevation in the R1T and the Rivian Elevation in the R1S.
Great ideal! I will compare them. I have the Meridian system in my R1T, but the have switched to an In house Rivian system since then. So, the R1S has the Rivian system.

Question: how is Rivian able to have an automatic frunk closure, when I ask Tesla why their frunks have to be manually closed, they claim it’s because of a government law “anything that opens in front of the driver has to be manually closed”

The Cybertruck frunk is opens automatically, and so does all the other electric trucks. So, I'm not sure why they said that.

Hi Duke, we both received our R1S’s a day apart. I was wondering if the threaded tire pump adapter you screwed onto the tire stem came with your R1S?
Congrats on the R1S. Yes, the adaptor came with both the R1S and R1T. Did you look in the zipper pocket of the hose case? That is where it is stored. If not, I would contact Rivian.

Ever since we took delivery of our R1S, we've never looked back and will never be going back to ICE vehicles. If it's one word, the R1S is CAPABLE of doing everything you could possibly expect.

There is a camp mode, but no utility mode. Camp mode even levels the vehicle for you. I have a video covering it on my channel.
