I like your review and agree with your critcism of the graphic equalizer being too complicated and time consuming for the average user, but by using a spectrum analyzer, white noise source and a calibrated microphone it is possible to compensate for any speaker deficiencies to get a flat response from the system which is not an ability i've seen in any other unit. I think it's better to have the feature included even if you don't use it than not having it available should you want it in the future. And under ideal circumstances, it's something you only need to do once. Do you know of any good installation videos or can you make one? I'm trying to determine if I can make it work for an uncommon vehicle.
OT, more related to SAAB 9-5: 1. Ever considered moving the SID below the head unit? Would make for a better viewing angle. 2. Any HU that could respond (and do the right thing) to Night/Black Panel input? After all, it should just be a CAN BUS message.
Do you like this over the ENON you review not long ago? I tryin to make the decision between the two. I have a 2006 subaru wrx tr. which one do you lean more towards?
good evening thankyou for the reviews buddy. I bought this head unit after watching the review and some other reviews you have done. the unit arrived yesterday and is now installed in my car in a custom install as my car (Subaru legacy 2004) has a factory integrated heater control and radio. I doing's customer service was great. i told them what vehicle and they suggested a different unit that replaces the upper cubby storage I explained I was doing a custom install and they sent me the additional plug and play harness for the radio to my car AT NO EXTRA CHARGE!!!! needless to say I'm very happy with my purchase from them and I appreciate you taking the time to help everybody with these reviews. I have had one issue though and that's is that I cant find vivid launcher on the play store for some reason it doesn't come up.
Would you consider doing android headrest monitors reviews? Seems like a great concept where the kids could either do what they want or hdmi input from the front.
I agree in regards to the EQ. My unit isnt as advance however still has something stupid like 48 eq points. Ive left my DSP in though which has 32 points which you can move around to overcomplicate the situation. Had to get someone online to build a profile for each speaker. I could then load this and tweek ever so sligntly for my own liking. simular to advance mode. Its really high end stuff though however high end brands do have a better ui and more user friendly. My ts18 does the wave thing.
Depeends on the car you're putting it in. The Joying is single/double din so would be easier to mount in some cars. That being said, Idoing also do single and double din, so it's whatever you prefer
Any chance of you doing an update to the top ten units you did last year? (Or whenever it was) I'd like to see a top five or ten for under £200 or thereabout. Or a comparison to show the difference between a £100, £200 and a £300 unit to show the reason for paying the extra.
I am imminantly going to do a Top 5-10 Android head units, but I have one more I need to review before I do that, the Mekede M6 3D which I have here. I just need the time to fit it
@@SaabUnleashedAbsolutely love the channel dude, you're absolutely killing it with the automotive head unit reviews. Literally no one covers Android head units the way you do. Couple of places that I noticed that you leave a bit of room for improvement that I personally would really like to see covered is the following: - minimum brightness/ ability to put the screen into standby (still have audio/ 2nd screen output?) for night time driving - maximum brightness for daytime driving - screen glare/reflectivity and sheen/texture - availability of screen protectors / anti glare protectors Any idea on how long until you're going to drop your top 10 video? I'm presently shopping and just wondering if I should wait or pick something else up based on one of your current reviews, was hoping to do it rather soon because I'm looking to take the car on a road trip later this month. Lastly here comes a rather car specific (2005 Cadillac CTS-V) question that you probably won't know the answer to, but there might be the off chance you do. Is there a way to retain the ability to display car system info that was traditionally routed through the OEM infotainment system (outside temp, tire pressure warnings, oil life, instantaneous fuel economy, fuel consumption, mileage to empty, TC on/off) through any of these Android head units? This car has a known issue of a misleading fuel gauge that has ended up poorly for me before I started using the onboard fuel consumption meter to monitor how many liters I burnt since my last fuel stop, and turning off ASM uses the same button as TC with a longer duration press and has no separate indicator light on the dash so you don't even know if it's off other than the message displaying on them infotainment screen. Thank you so much for any info you might be able to provide. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the feedback. I don't talk about brightness because I don't have the tools to accurately measure the light output of the screens. I'll look into that. With regards to retaining the car specific functions from the factory head unit, it is possible with advanced Canbus head units. This one, for example, has an app called "Car Info" and this will hold car specific information being read from the Canbus decoder. You would need to pick a head unit which comes with a loom and Canbus decoder for your specific car to have the best chance.
One of the most important things on an aftermarket unit is its “pre-outs” and the voltage output on them…. That being said what pre-out voltage do theses have?

Can you please recommend a head unit for Volkswagen golf 6 which has a system looking like original or stock android, not the custom system like the most have
Also, you all that say the EQ is too much should learn to tune. My new JOYING is the best sounding head unit i have ever had after i gain matched the amps and tuned it. I have had many different name brands from Kenwood to Alpine and this as a stand alone Head unit without an exterenal DSP is the mest sounding head i have ever had. Testing with an OSCILLOSCOPE, thr RCAs out out over 6volts with ZERO CLIPPING AT FULL VOLUME. THIS IS THE FIRST HEAD UNIT I HAVE EVER HAD THAT PUT OUT 6VOLTS AND AND CAN BE TURNED UP ALL THE WAY WITHOUT ANY CLIPPING. Gain matching this was a trip, as i bearly had to use any gain to get all i can out of my amps with clean, CLEAN sound. Stop simping , learn what it takes to tune a system right, it really isnt that hard, and software is free and good sample mics are cheap. Get yourself a cheap OSCILLOSCOPE from amazon, research for decent hand held, if you want one like i have , ask in reply and ill post a link to it.
Great videos thabkyou. Just wondered, you said you were going to do a Mekede v Teyes 2k comparison. Is that coming soon? Id love to see it with latest firmware installed on both units. Being gready but a flagship head to head would also be good, Joying, Idoing, Teyes, Mekede or whatever you feel is popular. Thanks again.
hey man - been enjoying watching your reviews. I'm trying to retro-upgrade a 2008 Mercedes ML63 (W164) - I love the look of these new huge screens but will try to find something that looks "factory" so was planning on using a Seicane unit ... until I came across your channel and now realise that there are now a lot more newer options out there. I remember Seicane saying that I needed to get a special extra package to support the AMG's fibre-optic connections: do you know if these newer units by the likes of Idoing, Teyes, Joying, etc., ... are already compatible with the AMG's internals or do they need "optional extras?" If they come already compatible out-of-the-box then they're crazily good value!
as always amazing work . just one thing please for bigger head units like this one how did you fit it in SAAB 9-3 did you use the cage with the skinny bezel or the 2 brackets with the thick bezel , how is it secured in ? i think i will go for the 9'' version of this screen to fit within the dash silver line if you know what i mean .
You would need to get the 9inch one. The 10inch one will prevent you from replacing the vents after installation. Use the second chapter in this video to see how to mount to the 9-3 th-cam.com/video/p-6xglcAFZc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=klnyExtI0K409000
You should learn to tune. That Joying, I have the same one, and it is by far the best sounding Head Unit I have ever had. I have had them all from Kenwood to Alpine. It's the first android head unit I have tested the outputs (RCAs) at 6volts, let alone 2volts, and on top of that, it has zero clipping at FULL volume. Testing was done worth an OSCILLOSCOPE. Once I gain matched the amps and tuned this, it is , with only the built in DSP, by far the best sounding stand alone head unit I have ever had. Figure it out bud, you're missing out
Great video. Living here i Thailand and my first Teyes is on the process of being ordered. Q: Mey be this has been on a topic before so please bear with me.... Wrt. to Android version will any of your favourite head unit producer/ provider i.e. Teyes support upgrade to a new version of Android or are one stock with the one delivered? hey! really like your head unit reviews. i want to buy a head unit for my jeep grand cherokee 2012 limited. I think it has a factory amplifier. will i need a separate canbus adapter? where can i buy one?
Just tell whatever manufacturer you decide to go for that it's for a Jeep and they will supply all you need. This Idoing will work and I did a video in a grand cherokee 2012 with the Teyes brand. You can use that video as a guide to install any other brand
I got one of these for my 2020 wrx and I can’t figure out any of the settings for canbus, the panel lights etc. how to change the Home Screen, keep it in regular time and not military time etc. I’m An iPhone user so this android stuff has me so confused haha
I have a question about the Idoing / Teyes CC3 / Joying units. They seem great and I would like to get one with the 3d 360 2k etc. BUT!! I have an Audi Q3 2015 and has a low res Screen that takes a 4 pin LVDS connector which controls the CD, driving mode, other important setting... I see some units of lower spec that don't have 360 or 2k but they have a dual mode switching between Car and Andriod. My question is how can you plug the 4pin LVDS connector into a converter then input this into Video in into one of these units?
Stupic question, but how do you control the volume with no capactive touch or physical buttons? I also do not have steering wheel control buttons in my car.
Hi I like your channel really helpful, I would like to ask u for a recommendation, I have a mercedes benz gl 450 2012 any recommendations for it . Thanks for your help in advance and keep it up the really good work
Watching all your vids, so interesting to see . But so much choice at the moment for buying a double din android unit. Looking for something around 250/350 euros.
That level of control Is nice..if it sounds good to you, no need to touch all those bands. That's an awesome feature..did you just want a couple Tone controls?
If you watch my other reviews, you'll know I love loads of control, but it needs to align with a decent user interface, particularly with the graphic equaliser to allow for quick modification of multiple frequencies
Hi, I note that you never mention the amount of storage. As I want to load a lot of apps and navigation software to operate offline I need a fair amount of storage. Do some of these units have SD card slots or the ability to use a USB stick?
The new Joying has HDMI as well, but its on the inside. Kinda disappointed they didnt include it on the back. But they show you how to add it and doesnt void the warranty. Also, you can use it as a second monitor to drag to. So you can have music player on one screen while a movie or WAZE is on the other. What really interests me is, i wonder what type of hdmi is used. I have asked Joying several times what type it is, and they dont know??! If it is what i hope, if you add a screen with capasitive touch, you can have two operational screens independant of each other but all in pne system
@dallywhackerify yes, exactly. Like a dual monitor computer. You can have a movie playing on Netflix on one, while using WAZE on the other. Now what I am wanting to test is, if the second monitor can have touch capability. From what I have researched, it can, but I won't be able to confirm that until I actually get a touch monitor
Is it worth buying an android 11 head unit in 2023? They’re much cheaper than Android 12 now, basically want CarPlay capability, not worried about watching videos on it.
I did this with a Teyes CC3 which is the same physical size. I have an image, but you'll have to find me on Facebook to see it. I'm in the 9-5NG groups
I have that white dot. On my android unit. Not the same as this one. But it's like a shortcut to a widget that has several shortcuts. One of shortcuts is to clear RAM. You can also go I to settings and remove the white dot completely if you want.
Is there a way to disable the audio out on the HDMI? I have a second screen. If I put on a video, the second screen goes black. If I pause it, it comes on. If I play USB music, it goes black. If I mute it, it turns back on. I went through a lot of trouble getting this screen in place of the old one. Any help would be appreciated.
Depends on the type of head unit. If it's the same kind of design as this Idoing, then the answer is no because the way it needs to be mounted will preevent you from being able to put your vents back in. If you go for a standard double din format with a large scree, then yes. I have actually installed a 15/1 inch screen in teh Saab 9-3
Interesting. This has a snapdragon 665 SOC in it instead of the 7862S that the Mekede M6 Pro and most others use. I imagine this headunit has a faster GPU. Maybe even better 4g LTE band support in the US
So how dose one hook up a subwoofer amp to this or even a Joying? they have the single rca style sub port and most car amps are stereo connection. do you need a SPDIF to rca converter? or just a Y- splitter?
12/04/2023 I used the link in the description and bought this headunit. Made sure to pick the 9inch 2k unit. Arrived in 20 days. It looks nothing like in this video. The surround that you see from the sides, top and bottom are silver and its a 1 din style. Feels like it weighs nothing. After messaging idoing they said that what I recieced is the "up to date" version. It looks nothing like the pictures on their website or in this video, and it's android 10 not 12. UPDATE: After working with saab unleashed, he contacted idoing and they sent me an update file for android 12. It doesn't look exactly the same and is silver but at least it's android 12.
Please run the app “fake device test” on the app store. It has a question mark as an icon. Email me the results, and any order confirmation emails and a some pictures of the device and I will contact them on your behalf. Stu@saabunleashed.com
It depends on the car. These units are designed to be used with car specific mounting kits which Idoing include when you buy it (you need to make sure you buy the head unit designed for your specific car). If you buy a universal one, it'll come with a couple of brackets to make it easier to fit. For the Saab in this video, I show how to fit it in this other video th-cam.com/video/p-6xglcAFZc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0WrbdgnCYZh8EssC&t=99
how do you get the side volume buttons to light up and work. I have the illumination wire hooked up and in works but the side lights on the unit do not come on when the parking lights are on?
Go into simple mode and press on the user two button. Does it show system pressets when you press the user 2 button? If so, then press on one of the system pressets when in the user two menu. Then it should show you the band graph of the system sounds.
Great reviews. I watched many of your videos before I saw one where you explained that the android version is important because for example you won’t be able to install Netflix from the play store and will have to side load an old version. And you also mentioned that the units often lie about their android version. I’m researching a unit to buy and paying attention to the android version and noticing things like them saying it’s Android 12 API Version 29. But API 29 would be Android 10. So I’m wondering is it just a typo mistake they didn’t update the ad properly or is it really Android 10 and they are faking they are 12… I don’t get why they don’t just update things. I guess it takes more work and they don’t want to. Could you please start testing what version they really are running by testing if the API level actually works. This is important for app compatibility.
I was interested in the Teyes CC3 but it is only Android 10. It has a gyroscope but I read somewhere that it’s probably proprietary and only works in the teyes apps and not exposed by Android APIs meaning that other apps you install wouldn’t be able to use gyroscope features. Which would be handy for 4WD. This is another API compatibility thing that could be tested.
Higher android version has stricter OS security and functional requirement which maybe difficult or impossible for hardware manufacturers to comply. Thus resorting to older android but try to emulate some features is easier to do.
I have a silly question, I never had a head unit with android in my car, so , can I turn it off whilst I am driving? when I do not need to navigate or listen to music, can I just turn it off? or would I have to turn down brightness to the lowest level?
If someone could tell me where you find one of these idoing android 12 with hdmi please let me know? I have searched the internet for 4 hours and havnt found one yet with all these features.
Thanks for the response.. Can I get this same unit in a 1 or 2 din?? It's going into a moterhome so not to particular for what vehicle it is, but would mount nicely with a 2 din.
I’ve got an 2001 4Runner. It just has a spot for a double din. I think I might just barely be able to shove a 9incher into the space I’ve got but idk how it mounts
The one in this video is neither single or double din, however I have been informed that they have changed the design of this to make it fit into a standard double din. I'm waiting for this replacement to be sent to me so I can assess it

@@SaabUnleashed cool thanks. Didn't know that
Thou I love it
It would be all in the way
For my 2005 skyline coupe
Still trying to find a unit to install that’s blue tooth
Watching all your vids, so interesting to see . But so much choice at the moment for buying a double din android unit. Looking for something around 250/350 euros.
For newer cars will the other system/engine functions still remain after the head unit replacement?
Looks very cool, would look way out of place in my car due to how high up it would sit, but would be very tempted otherwise.
Does Teyes also offer this kind of HDMI trick?
Can we send any app to the auxiliary screen via HDMI or only apps that plays video etc?
Are the 03-06 9-3’s still stuck with the ICM makeovers, or has a better option become available?
The other option is the Carpuride th-cam.com/video/LMHai1Fj7Cw/w-d-xo.html
Can I get this new unit in a 1 or 2 din application. I need the 6 channel with Hdmi out port.. in either a andriod 10 or 12 what do you recomend?
oh shit, this one is kind of dope. I still want a 360 cam though
The Joying I reviewed last is 360 camera compatible
Is this compatible with 360 camera?
Btw good job on the video, much appreciated 👍
The new Joying has HDMI as well, but its on the inside. Kinda disappointed they didnt include it on the back. But they show you how to add it and doesnt void the warranty. Also, you can use it as a second monitor to drag to. So you can have music player on one screen while a movie or WAZE is on the other. What really interests me is, i wonder what type of hdmi is used. I have asked Joying several times what type it is, and they dont know??! If it is what i hope, if you add a screen with capasitive touch, you can have two operational screens independant of each other but all in pne system
So if I understand, you're saying that joying head unit can play something else on the auxiliary monitor other than what is displayed on the main unit
Can you use any apps for the dual zone fun functionality, or only dual zone enabled apps? I want to run VLC on the second screen and maps on the HU
will this fit a 2017 nissan serena?
Do these radios come with AirPlay?
Ekiy better buy?
Could use more screens to show things like obd sensors or weather or whatever
Is it worth buying an android 11 head unit in 2023? They’re much cheaper than Android 12 now, basically want CarPlay capability, not worried about watching videos on it.
Android 10 is fine. Cheap headunits fake their Android version. Ultimately though, the Android version is irrelevant when you're only using CarPlay
@@SaabUnleashed thank you 🙏
Can you try mounting it on a NG9-5 to show how it would fit ?
I did this with a Teyes CC3 which is the same physical size. I have an image, but you'll have to find me on Facebook to see it. I'm in the 9-5NG groups
Is it possible to adjust the Volume on the Head Unit? I don't see any buttons or widgets for it
What's the purpose of the white dot on the left of the display, a home button or something?
I have that white dot. On my android unit. Not the same as this one. But it's like a shortcut to a widget that has several shortcuts. One of shortcuts is to clear RAM. You can also go I to settings and remove the white dot completely if you want.
Is there a way to disable the audio out on the HDMI? I have a second screen. If I put on a video, the second screen goes black. If I pause it, it comes on. If I play USB music, it goes black. If I mute it, it turns back on. I went through a lot of trouble getting this screen in place of the old one. Any help would be appreciated.
Is the non 1200p version identical in terms of specs and connectivity?
Bc id like to have some buttens
Yes it is
“Can the Saab 9-3 2008 model accommodate a 10.2-inch screen?”
Could you use the duel screen feature to project a heads up display of google maps?
If you can find a heads up display with HDMI. Totally possible
Interesting. This has a snapdragon 665 SOC in it instead of the 7862S that the Mekede M6 Pro and most others use. I imagine this headunit has a faster GPU. Maybe even better 4g LTE band support in the US
I'd love to see a comparison between the two. They look VERY similar
does it fit on the Opel Astra H skyframe? i wanted a joying unit but that doesn't fit.
Hi, does it fit into a toyota higlander 2nd. Gen. ?
Does anyone know if the second monitor could be configured to display a rear-view camera while the head unit is in normal operating mode?
What about AR Camera app?
is this compattible for a cadillac cts 2005?
So how dose one hook up a subwoofer amp to this or even a Joying? they have the single rca style sub port and most car amps are stereo connection. do you need a SPDIF to rca converter? or just a Y- splitter?
Subs are a single speaker and are therefore mono, so you don't need a splitter. Use the left or right RCA port
My 2021 Joying has a single sub out port. I used a male to male RCA-Y cable.
could you possibly share the factory codes that come in the manual i lost my manual and the codes on the idoing site do not work
Why flat and not Harman?
@@SaabUnleashedI will do this in the next few days. Thanks for the response
But how many watts? Is it 45*4, 50*4, 60*4?
How was it mounted in the car? I just bought this unit and it came with no mounting hardware
There are no side lights or buttons on this
I noticed you had it set to user 2 on the eq simple mode.
Is there other options when you oress the user 2 button? Like rock and so on.
Yes, I showed that before I showed you simple mode
@SaabUnleashed yes. But it might show you the band graph of each user setting, including system presets like rock for example
Go into simple mode and press on the user two button. Does it show system pressets when you press the user 2 button?
If so, then press on one of the system pressets when in the user two menu. Then it should show you the band graph of the system sounds.
User 2 is a preset for the equaliser. I had already saved something to user1
Can you have the navigation on the additional screen and radio on the main screen?
Yes can,, via the split screen features
How can I tell for sure what operating system I'm running is there an app or something that will tell me the truth about the head unit I own ?
Use the app "Fake Device Test". It has a question mark as its logo on the Play Store
which model is it with a 2k display
if you can help me with a link. can a uk be delivered?
The link is in the video description and I am in the UK, so yes, it can be delivered to the UK
Did some one nows the output voltage on the rca output?
Great review
Could you please tell me which model this is as could not find it on the website
There’s a link in the video description
Many bravo support this head unit fpms sensors
Sorry tpms
Wished something could be done about Google maps on these units. Waze runs buttery smooth but Google Maps still runs like crap.
Depends on the hardware specs.
Great input and should be a normal part of any review (fantastic ad the all are though) i.e. is it possible with an upgrade...
You can turn the screen off. Turn it on again by touching anywhere on the screen
@@SaabUnleashed Thanks a lot for answering. your videos are great, thanks to you I have now an idea of what I want and what to get. Thanks !!!
I clicked on the link, and in the description it says it runs android 10?
Question, is joying using the real version of android 12?
Yes they are
The link for this unit takes me to a 10 inch version, where is the right link?
The link takes you to the product page where you can choose between 9 or 10
🏁
If someone could tell me where you find one of these idoing android 12 with hdmi please let me know? I have searched the internet for 4 hours and havnt found one yet with all these features.
There’s always a link in my video description
Thanks for the response.. Can I get this same unit in a 1 or 2 din?? It's going into a moterhome so not to particular for what vehicle it is, but would mount nicely with a 2 din.
so... how are you supposed to mount it? doesnt look like it attaches to a double din
Depends what car you have
I’ve got an 2001 4Runner. It just has a spot for a double din. I think I might just barely be able to shove a 9incher into the space I’ve got but idk how it mounts
will this work on the 2011 95 NG?
Yes if you ask them to provide the Insignia loom
Is it 1din? or 2din? or how do you install this?
The one in this video is neither single or double din, however I have been informed that they have changed the design of this to make it fit into a standard double din. I'm waiting for this replacement to be sent to me so I can assess it
What's your favorite Android 12 Head Unit?
👍👍👍...
Why don’t these things ever tell you what the CPU and GPU are so that the customer will have a clue of the actual performance instead of guessing!
Feel sorry for u guys having your radio on the left side
At least the steering wheel is on the RIGHT side ;)
