Good audio and video, could have done without side chat on a vest and other unrelated topics. Need more engine rev/exhaust sample sounds. So: gears 5 &6 are more for overdrive. 1st is short. Lightweight and superior turning/nimble/flickable. More upright position due to handle bar and foot peg placement, which I like. Can hold freeway speeds without issue, and curve performance is very easy. Also sub $5k and recommendable for a first time rider. Good to know. Some criticism from other reviews: brakes could have more bite; smallish cockpit controls; anemic sounding horn and poor placement; polarizing aesthetics; too small for riders greater than 5’9; Yamaha financing is garbage/use other method.

I do not recommend financing through yamaha. Get your own personal loan which more than likely will have a lower apr rate. Yamaha puts their "loan" on a card and charge you a apr based on a credit card
It looks much like the Honda CB300R. I like it because the engine is 320cc while the Honda one is around 280cc. But the Honda should be more economical because it's only one cylinder so cheaper services and petrol saving also with the Honda you reach the max power at just 8,000RPMs while the Yamaha needs 10,000RPMs which means you are always revving which can be boring.

Yeah, you'll be up to 65 mph before you know it, but at stoplights, it can initially be a challenge for a brand-new rider to manage all that low-end torque.
It also makes a great bike to do recon on the person that stole and destroyed my last bike since the detective is stuck behind BS paperwork etc to do the job properly. If they won't pick him up in cuffs, they can pick him up on a stretcher instead.
No bro , it's good because it is different. Look at the ktms now , in india all the Dukes from 200 , 250,390 all looks the same , and it is so boring .
You will outgrow a 400cc bike in like 2 weeks and want something bigger, then when you get a 650 you will wish you could go around cars on the highway so you'll want a 1000cc. 1000cc is the best imo just for the usability not the top speed
That's the main reason people want to upgrade to a bigger bike, it's because lower cc stresses the engine and it gets old real quick shifting to 6th gear in town just to cruise at 55

If I outgrow it I outgrow it. I'd rather drop, crash and fuck up a 5k bike than one thats actually worth the price. This is terrible advice.

Nice review. Lights on this bike are rubbish looking and would provide little safety of the rider. The older model ticked the boxes, this dose not. My Ninja 300 may look its age but lights look better and i can be seen from oncoming cars.

I have a 34" inseam, and sat on this bike at a recent PIMS. My legs were really folded up. That COULD be an issue after a day of commuting.

Get a 900 and keep it in b mode. I own a ktm Duke 390 and on the highway it's rough but I miss having a 900-1000 cc bike
