The Sena having a camera is more so treated as a dash cam to me. I always ride with buddies, so it being a comms system is nice, but also recording the rides in case something happens is also nice. I never expected high fidelity footage from it, that wasn't its main purpose. So yeah, spot on review.
I used my sena 10c the first years i was riding my motorcycle. Mostly from home to work and work to home. Those rides took about 35-45min withouth traffic issues. Battery life now filming has dropped to 25min. It's an old unit ofc. I use it as a intercom now mostly. But for work rides the camera option was handy for insurance purposes if i would get into an accident or something. So i might just get this unit for a upgrade. I have gopro's (6&7). But the issues with that is, tons of cables. And riding a harley street bob with a custom exhaust thats loud af, the sound of a gopro just ain't good enough without a mic going into the helmet. And i prefer easier and all in one devices above expensive plus additional options for a full set price. Gopro with adapter for a mic and mic was around 700€ back in the day. While this device just costs 306€ at the moment. And looking at how my current sena 10c from 2017 still works fine (except battery life filming on 1080p 30frames), ill choose the sena over a gopro for reasons stated above. For all you gopro fanboys out there, don't worry i own gopro's too. And i am amazed by their quality of video recording. But for intercom purposes this unit is awesome. I own 4 helmets. Caberg Duke 2, sena 10c mounted. Shark Skwal 2, gopro6 mounted. Shoei GT-Air2, gopro 7 mounted with microphone, integrated sena unit also installed. Scorpion Exo 930, will have the sena 10c evo on this.
Thanks, nice video! A friend told me that the 10C Evo would not charge AND record video at the same time. If the 10C Evo's camera was turned off then it would charge while listening to music or intercom conversations. He said as soon as the camera was turned on, the charging stopped. Did my friend have a bad unit, or is this actually true?
True. From the user manual, page 11: "If you connect the 10C EVO to the Powerbank while the camera is on, the 10C EVO will use the electricity stored in the Powerbank but the battery will not charge." However, as soon you turn off the camera, the battery start charging.
I use this on a daily basis with students receiving with the 10s. Quality is very good and I have set mine up so it can charge whilst recording therefor able to record 4k all day long. My biggest moan is the location of the charging port which isn't weather proof whilst being used
@@mancavemoto has anyone found after firmware updating to v1.6 that their unit won't turn on? I have this issue right now. Have contacted Sena but cannot resuscitate it... ;-(
I bought a SENA 10C EVO earlier this year. It has stopped working after less than a dozen use. It won't open and it won't charge! I have contacted SENA’s technical support and exchanged several emails with them over the last 3 weeks with no resolution (Fix or Exchange) so far or explanation for the slow progress. I consider myself a valuable customer after having purchased several SENA products over the past 10 years (2x SENA 10S, 2x SENA 20S and 1x SRL for my Neotech 2 helmet) and was pleased with the products. Sadly, my experience with the 10C EVO has not been good and their Technical Support has not been helpful at all. My conclusion is that the 10C EVO is not reliable and SENA is not interested in their customer’s satisfaction. Has anyone else had bad experience with the 10C EVO and/or SENA’s customer service?
Thats not good, did you buy it directly from Sena or through a retailer? not that it makes a difference, but a retailer should be replacing it in the first instance if its faulty. I've had no real issues with the unit,.
Usually just take short trips but for longer rides just plug in a portable power bank and toss it into your pocket while you ride. Just have to remember to unplug before you take off your helmet or use something like a double 360 magnetic cable.
Just seen your review on the 10c which was great as im thinking about one of these for myself. I like to listen to music whilst riding so what was the sound quality like with the speakers which came with the camera? Many thanks. Nick.
Yes it’s a bit of a shame, I’m not sure if it is something that could come along with a firmware upgrade at some point? 60fps is going to help slow motion in the edit and will also reduce motion blur, but 30fps offers a natural look. I’m not sure the frame rate has any effect on TH-cam uploads?
How does loop mode work? Just like on gopro (trashy) or like traditional dashcam (just hit rec and forget about any problems)? And can we reduce somehow that crazy sharpening?
I have found that if I use it for small recordings where I want to get my thoughts down while riding, it works great. You can record a lot of 2-3 min clips in a single charge. Image stabilization would round this out for me though. Seems a shame it doesn't have it. I also wish the mic options provided something better.
I don't know.... I had the 10c first. After a year, the external mic dies and I have terrible windnoise on my vids. I contacted sena, but my warranty was over, so they couldn't help me. Then I bought the 10c pro. After a year, exactly same issue. I did contact sena again and they told me to send the device to them for a check up. Result, they confirmed the mic issue. They gave me a second 10c pro device, because I still had warranty this time. But for how long will this external mic work. I really love those devices, but they are fragile. Now I have 1 10c and 2 10c pro devices. 3 devices and 2 of them with bad audio, but they still work perfect as a normal intercom. The evo sounds great to me, but I don't risk it to buy one because of my previous experiences.. if you want a cam, just buy a go pro or something... a real cam. My old gopro hero+ still works fine after 4 years.
Hi. Nice video. I also have 10C EVO, but on the video there is a very annoying sound of wind (starting already on since 30/40 mph...) which drowns out all other sounds. This is completely the opposite sound to what can be heard in your or other YT videos. Can this be Sena failure or maybe I have my micfrone mounted incorrectly?
Thanks Tony - perhaps a difficult question, but given your extensive knowledge thought it worth the ask - will the 10C EVO fit into the Nexx Coms fittings in the Nexx x.Web2 helmet? ....Cheers mate
hello you bought 10c evo intercom. i am using a chin-up caberg duke 2 helmet. I assembled the helmet myself. I wore a boom microphone in a helmet. While there is no problem in listening to music, video recording, no sound is sent to the other side when the chin is open during the phone call, and when the jaw is closed, it is low quality. I checked the helmet mount. There is no damage to the cables. There is no sound problem during video recording. I checked the installation from the user manual over and over again, as suggested, My own interpretation is humble, would you have a suggestion without perceiving my voice as an instrument ambient noise and suppressing it? It is a common problem and do you have any suggestions to say the solution is this?
How long does each video record? Is it a constant stream of recording until you stop it or run out of memory? Or does it automatically cut its recording off at a certain time like 10 minutes or something?
Hi @Man Cave Moto, I recently purchased a Shoei Glamster and have also seen your review on it as well as the video on mounting a Sena 5s. Would you happen to know if the 10c EVO would fit on the Glamster? Really looking for the combined comms/video that this product offers. Thanks in advance.
My biggest problem with 10c pro is limited volume. I can’t hear anything over 70 mph. Are there options for increasing the volume of this unit? Other speakers?
Thanks for your efforts. I am using the Evo with firmware update 1.7. My experience is most reviewer video footage is with the camera pointed in a way that leaves the sun behind the rider. I experience terrible over exposure and contrast issues with the sun forward or to the left or right of forward. This generally makes the footage marginal for TH-cam without major post editing. Very disappointed with this aspect. Does nobody seek a true comparison? I have gopro cams rear mounted that perform much better. They are only mid quality Silver editions. I don't see that the Evo is even close in this regard. Especially when the golden hour is sunset/sunrise.
Filming chews up battery life, it’s the same for the GoPro too. Of course you can swap the battery out in a gopro. I think it will only be a problem if you want to film in huge great chunks of time obviously
