The best comparison of the 2 for my needs. Which is flight and driving sims. Actually after watch around 50 videos from other TH-cam channels this is by far the best . No messing around. Very informative, non biased imo of course. Thank you. I appreciate all your hard work making this content. Have a great day.
I own both, and your commentary in this video is probably the most unbiased, detailed, and accurate comparison I have seen. I keep being frustrated by clear unfair bias toward the Quest 3 in TH-cam videos and comments. There is fanboyism toward PSVR2 out there as well, but not nearly as much as comes from the Quest 3 side. Unlike Meta, Sony doesn't have an Ambassador program to influence the media narrative, and it shows.
It’s all preference. I own both headsets but I will now reach for my PSVR2 for PCVR. The OLED uncompressed image is stunning. There is no perfect headset… yet.
The Quest 3 fanboys are the worst. I get flamed by them all the time when I mention how bad it is for sim racing because of the compression and high latency.
Great summation, I have both and align with your experience (despite being on a 3070). Something I'll add: the better binocular overlap and much wider fov on psvr2 helped me gauge corners better in Assetto Corsa, which genuinely surprised me.
hey im looking to get this headset specially for AC and have a 3070 / i7 14700k, do u have CSP and Pure installed if yes how's the performance like? For example on nurburgering can it keep a steady 120hz?
@@benzyl029 I tested it tonight with High detail and 60% steamvr resolution. On a practice run I could do 120fps pretty ok, but with 7 other cars on track I was down around 70-80. So yeah, it's pushing the 3070 for sure. Now with that said, totally playable in both cases, I didn't get a sense of jitter or motion sickness.
Thank you for sharing your impressions and experience with the PSVR2 on PC. I have the PSVR2 w/ PC adapter and strongly agree with the points you make. The only thing I will add is that I am particularly sensitive to the mura of the PSVR2 which at times can be annoying, but the PSVR2's strengths in other aspects such as DP connection to PC, wider FOV, OLED display and greater binocular overlap makes the PSVR2 my preference in sim racing and sim flight. For games where I have legs such as Half Life: Alex, Beat Saber, Blade & Sorcery, etc., I enjoy using my Quest 3 w/ Virtual Desktop for convenience and being untethered.
I love the quest 3 BUT for me, the psvr2 just feels so much more immersive. Mainly because of the superior light blocking and it just feels less like looking through goggles to me.

Thanks for comment. Every headset has a trade off and the PSVR2 has it's party trick of excellent black levels and umcompressed video at 120Hz. At a sale price of £350 + £50 PC adapter, I think many people will like it for sims. I agree the PS5 is too underpowerd to get the most out of this headset. Maybe PS5 Pro will give it some more love, but I'm skeptical.

It’s possible those games on the PS5 have HDR support, where HDR isn’t supported via the PC adapter. Higher dynamic range can make images look more punchy and sharper.

I am hoping the ps5 pro maybe gets it to 90hz native. This would be a cool option to upgrade everything at once without having to keep doing 2 headsets just because I love a console exclusive.
The PSVR2 is better than Quest 2 it almost all respects as a PCVR headset for Sims. One advantage for Quest 2 I can think of, is it will run ACC slightly better because it works with Open Composite so you can bypass SteamVR which is handy for that game specifically . Maybe. But I doubt Sony would ever add PC to their launch platforms for new GT titles. They sell millions of Playstations when they package it up with a new GT release
Strange it works fine for me. It’s it just ACC or other games too? If it’s just ACC maybe try a clean install of the game or a clear out of the user VR/Video settings files for the game.
Thanks for the video! I sim-raced with the Quest 2 for 2.5 years non-stop, got the quest 3 few months ago, and did not sim-race with it, mostly used it for shooting games before I sold it. Would it make sense for me to get a PSVR2 purely for simracing if I can get it cheap secondhand? considering I was used to the Quest 2?
I have a rtx4090 and 5800x3d. To get my PSVR2 running at the same performance as my Quest 3 on PCVR, I have to set it at around 68%. If I go to 150% it immediately drops into reprojection.
Interesting, which game? Could you be stacking the the SteamVR global render resolution with the per game render resolution and in game render scale (if it has one)?
Thanks for the video. Quick question, were you able to use the PSVR2 controllers for DCS? I’ve tried with mine and can’t seem to get them to work fully in the cockpits i.e. Still have to use the keyboard for a lot of the controls?
Anybody tried viewing 3d movies or 360 photos/vid with this headset? Sony doesn’t have app for those on PS5 and I’m just going to use it with PC with 1060 card for 360/3D photos/vids

Saludos y gracias!
I just have 100% edge to edge clarity on my psvr2, better than my pico The vof is also much better. I bought my psvr2 at lounge, now have a top pc vr glasses for 59 euros. My pico4 is going into the closet. I have no problems with clare at all
Fantastic review. I do have PS5 with RE4 and RE8 in my library, but also have PC with 2080ti , so should be able to run without adapter, but is that GPU powerful enough to run Alyx or Flight Sim? PSVR2 is £335 right now Quest 3s is only £275 Quest 3 £470 My IPD is 71-72 The only headset I had in the past was PSVR1 and I enjoyed Re7 or GT Sport, but tracking was really bad, move controllers were crap, stupid camera and processor unit.
PSVR1 had a bad setup. The PSVR2 is much better compared to the PSVR1. At least with a PSVR2 you can use that with your PS5 and new GPUs from Nvidia are launching in January. I would say Check out DF's Gran Turismo 7 video for the PS5 PRO and see if you can get a deal on a second hand PSVR2. Otherwise wait for prices to drop in February and then make a choice either way you are probably going to spend extra money if you buy right now.
I went from a Rift S to a G2v2 and send that back within a week, the sweetspot on that was ridiculously small, is it reasonable bigger on the PSVR2 or just a tiny bit? I want to get back into VR for simracing alongside triples, but I cant decide where to spend my money. Running a 3080, so will always need to compromise a but in resolution and eye candy.
The PSVR2 sweet spot is just a bit bigger than the G2, I think the Rift-S was a bit better and probable on par with the PSVR2. If you want a larger sweetspot I'd go for the Quest 3 or Quest Pro.
I have a question. I also use the PSVR2 for ACC but am having trouble finding the right settings. I have an RX4070 Ti S (16Gb) with more than enough RAM and an AMD R7 7800X3D processor. Could someone give me a tip on how I can get my resolution as good as possible? I would be very happy to receive a list of settings. Everything runs on SteamVR. Thanks in advance.
ACC is tough to run in VR, especially via SteamVR which you have to use with PSVR2. For best performance pick the VR medium graphics preset, turn down the number of visible opponent cars to 10 or less and mirror view distance to 20m and mirror quality down low (those eat performance).
Is there any chance I'll get playable experience on a 1070ti? Considering the psvr2 because there is a pretty good deal on black Friday sales here in Brazil. Waiting for the next generation to upgrade my video card though. I'll play automobilista 2 and assetto corsa probably
It should be just about runnable on a 1070Ti with low resolution 90Hz and maybe motion smoothing on. AMS2 runs very well in VR (for day time races). Night time and in the wet with headlights on , it will struggle.
Game and graphics will make a difference, yes. Personally I would be looking at a RTX3080Ti and AMD5800X3D CPU or highter for a reasonable experience. Sony states Intel Core i5-7600 / Ryzen 3 3100 CPU and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later (Turing or later architecture is required) | NVIDIA RTX series | AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or later | AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or later. For best performance, we recommend that you use an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT graphics card direct.playstation.com/en-gb/buy-accessories/playstationvr2-pc-adaptor
Reprojection is via SteamVR motion smoothing and works OK, but I normally disable it and run at native refresh rate. Whether you need to use it depends on your PC spec, resolution, refresh rate and game settings.
OpenXR games and OpenXR toolkit work with the PSVR2. It's Open Composite that doesn't seem compatible at the moment and you need Open Composite for none OpenXR games like ACC to work with OpenXR toolkit.
@@Tin_Fed It could be, it would be down to the devs of Open Composite to figure out what the issue is and update it to support PSVR2. That would give users access to OpenXR toolkit for none OpenXR games e.g. Foveated rendering in ACC, but they would still have to use SteamVR as the PlayStation app uses SteamVR's OpenXR runtime and SteamVR itself uses up resources, so you woudn't get as much of a performance boost compared to using a Meta headset which doesn't need to use SteamVR in that scenario.
I found a decent deal on eBay for a PSVR2, but it doesn’t come with controllers. I wouldn’t need controllers to sim race, but im curious if I’d still need them for the initial set up process. Do you know if I can get away with no controllers? Thanks!
Hi Ham VR, great video, thank you. How did you get EA F1 24 to run with the PSVR2 PC adapter ? I run the PSVR2 PC app in Steam, then turn on STEAMVR, start the game in the EA App and it seems ok until I get to the point where I'm in the car about to start the race, suddenly it barely runs , like extremely slow motion, 1 frame a second type thing. I've tried 90 and 120hz, both the same. Any tips or advice would be appreciated, cheers. Daz. Edit: Managed to get it running, started the game in flatmode and turned down the graphics settings to low, then started the game in VR and adjusted the VR Graphics settings to medium and it ran ok. Not fantastic, colours pop more with the PSVR2 headset but that's about it for me.
@@albert.escobar31 No probs, unfortunately even with the graphics turned right down it did it again, running very slowly, even in the menu , to the point where I came out of the game and went back to my Quest 3 where it runs just fine. *EDIT 2*....ok, determined to get this working smoothly this afternoon and have managed to do so . So, I was originally playing the EA trial version from the EA app on the pc and was having issues, not sure if it was the app or not. Spent more time fannying around trying to get it to work so basically gave up and this took me near to the end of the 5 hour free trial. Here's what I did, I purchased the game on Steam , moved my bluetooth usb cable from a USB 3.0 slot to a USB2.0 slot, right click the game in Steam and select Properties until you find manage files and then click on view integrity of files, turns out there was a critical file missing for some reason, Steam automatically downloaded the missing file. Rebooted my pc, fired up Steam, started the PSVR2 app in my library, started Steam VR, turned on my PSVR2 headset and donned the unit on my bonce, started the game with my xbox controller fired up, the game loaded and I've done 4 races in Grand Prix all without issue and a ton load of fun, colours are more vibrant than my Quest 3 and everything ran on VR High graphics settings with not even so much as a twitch, Soooo, I think something I've done has solved the very slow running ( which made it unplayable ) . Give the above a go if you are having similar issues, let me know how you get on and I'll help if I can if you run into any issues. Happy racing, cheers, Daz.
@@coffeeguy6673 Wow, thanks for the detailed explanation. I'm glad you got it going. I solved my issue too, not as detailed as yours. For me, turns out, all I had to do was delete the saved game data. It's running great now.

I just tried one today on iRacing and it has that shimmering effect on everything in the distance. I used to have the same on my Pico and was hoping with my new 4070ti and new VR that would not be an issue. I am still so confused about this after a few years of VR. Some forums say 'That's just the way VR is right now' but then others, like your video don't even mention it, which makes me thing I am still doing something wrong! Also on iRacing the front tires on my open wheeler both had bad ghosting. You didn't see anything like that?
I didn’t test iRacing as I don’t have a subscription currently, but it was CPU constrained last time I tried it. Shimmers usually appear at lower resolutions with AA off. You normally reduce this by enabling different AA modes or increasing the resolution higher if your system can handle it.
If you can't connect your PSVR2 controllers, you can't run the VR play area setup process, which means no VR. However once you have run the setup process, you can play games without the PSVR2 controllers.
Every time I try to run F124 on psvr2 the game crashes. It runs fine in the menus, but when it comes to loading the track I get taken back to the SteamVR Menu. Did you run into any setup issues with F124 Ham?
Could anyone let me know if I can use a PSVR2 on my laptop for sim racing? I have an ASUS TUF 15 laptop with AMD Ryzen 7 6800H, RTX 3070 and 32gb DDR5 RAM. I run most of my sim games on ultra settings on my 4K monitor but how much more will the PSVR2 demand and will my laptop be able to handle it?
Any idea why my F123 is totally stuttering once i hop into the car from menu? It´s totally freezing and it was instant quit for me as it was unplayable as screen was freezing. I was really hoping for some F1 in VR finally first time in my life using PSVR2. Should i change any setting or whatever in-game or in SteamVR/PSVR app? I am running on RTX3070ti, on flat screen the game was running fine on max settings.
F1 23 stutters in VR when you aren't achieving the FPS that you've set your VR headset to run at. You need to lower settings for it to become smooth. That could mean changing game settings and / or even headset settings (i.e. run at lower Hz).

Thank you for the review - is the quality better on high spec PC compared to PS5?
Yes and on a good spec PC you reach 120Hz native refresh, without motion smoothing.
I just have 100% edge to edge clarity on my psvr2, better than my pico The vof is also much better. I bought my psvr2 at lounge, now have a top pc vr glasses for 59 euros. My pico4 is going into the closet. I have no problems with clare at all
Would i need the psvr2 controllers to set it up for pc? Or is the headset alone, with the adapter enough?
You need the controllers for setup.
Fantastic review. I do have PS5 with RE4 and RE8 in my library, but also have PC with 2080ti , so should be able to run without adapter, but is that GPU powerful enough to run Alyx or Flight Sim?
PSVR2 is £335 right now
Quest 3s is only £275
Quest 3 £470
My IPD is 71-72
The only headset I had in the past was PSVR1 and I enjoyed Re7 or GT Sport, but tracking was really bad, move controllers were crap, stupid camera and processor unit.
What about the neo 3 link in terms of sweet spot? Pico 4 will probably be better again?
do you have any motion sickness ?
I have a question. I also use the PSVR2 for ACC but am having trouble finding the right settings. I have an RX4070 Ti S (16Gb) with more than enough RAM and an AMD R7 7800X3D processor. Could someone give me a tip on how I can get my resolution as good as possible? I would be very happy to receive a list of settings. Everything runs on SteamVR. Thanks in advance.
ACC is tough to run in VR, especially via SteamVR which you have to use with PSVR2. For best performance pick the VR medium graphics preset, turn down the number of visible opponent cars to 10 or less and mirror view distance to 20m and mirror quality down low (those eat performance).
does normal assetto corsa look blur?
Could you do a settings video?
I was getting sub optimal frame rates despite my 4090 at 90hz - 68% resolution.
Which game and graphic preset?
@@HamVR Dirt Rally 2, ACC . In that order
What are the recommended pc specs for PSVR2? Is it game and graphics settings dependent?
Game and graphics will make a difference, yes. Personally I would be looking at a RTX3080Ti and AMD5800X3D CPU or highter for a reasonable experience.
Sony states Intel Core i5-7600 / Ryzen 3 3100 CPU and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later (Turing or later architecture is required) | NVIDIA RTX series | AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or later | AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or later. For best performance, we recommend that you use an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT graphics card
direct.playstation.com/en-gb/buy-accessories/playstationvr2-pc-adaptor
Does it still use reprojection like was being used on PS5 and looking through lint cloth?
Reprojection is via SteamVR motion smoothing and works OK, but I normally disable it and run at native refresh rate. Whether you need to use it depends on your PC spec, resolution, refresh rate and game settings.
how do i run assetto Corsa in psvr2? i cant find any vid on this... Do you have a vid that can help me?
I use Content Manager and run it like any other SteamVR headset. No special settings needed.
You're a god a Dirt Rally 2 ... !!!
Sebastien of mrtv fame was running oxr and utilizing the oxrtk with psvr2?
OpenXR games and OpenXR toolkit work with the PSVR2. It's Open Composite that doesn't seem compatible at the moment and you need Open Composite for none OpenXR games like ACC to work with OpenXR toolkit.
@@HamVR oh bummer. Do you think it will be compatible in the future?
Thanks!
You need the controllers for initial setup of the play area. There’s no way around that, that I’m aware of.
@@HamVR after the initial setup are the controllers needed to launch games? I simply race and done want to rely on controllers after setup.
@coffeeguy6673 Ah nice, I have the exact same problem, I'll try it tonight. Thanks for the edit.
@@albert.escobar31 thanks for replying, glad you got it sorted too. I didnt even think of that one, deleting the saved game data. Good to know and cheers for the heads up ! I think the visuals are better than the Quest 3 so now I'ts running nicely, this could be my daily driver 😊👍. Happy racing Albert, cheers pal.
Need X3D...
How can you drive with a q3 when it has so much latency
can you play games with mouse and keyboard if no wifi module to connect controllers?
If you can't connect your PSVR2 controllers, you can't run the VR play area setup process, which means no VR. However once you have run the setup process, you can play games without the PSVR2 controllers.
Every time I try to run F124 on psvr2 the game crashes. It runs fine in the menus, but when it comes to loading the track I get taken back to the SteamVR Menu. Did you run into any setup issues with F124 Ham?
No problems with PSVR2, Quest 3 or Pimax Crystal.
@@HamVR Thanks Ham, a few comments down, I got a few pointers from another follower. Gonna give it a shot tonight.
PSVR2 should be less demanding than say a Quest 3, and your laptop capable of lower resolution play at 90Hz
nvidia abandoning virtuallink was a mistake
Any idea why my F123 is totally stuttering once i hop into the car from menu? It´s totally freezing and it was instant quit for me as it was unplayable as screen was freezing. I was really hoping for some F1 in VR finally first time in my life using PSVR2. Should i change any setting or whatever in-game or in SteamVR/PSVR app?
I am running on RTX3070ti, on flat screen the game was running fine on max settings.
F1.2023 =KaKa VR....
@@JoseFcoBN should i go for f1 24? :D
F1 23 stutters in VR when you aren't achieving the FPS that you've set your VR headset to run at. You need to lower settings for it to become smooth. That could mean changing game settings and / or even headset settings (i.e. run at lower Hz).
@@LargeStyle thanks for reply! yes i will try that, i also tried F124 trial via EAplay but for some reason my thrustmaster wheel is not recognized/not working in-game - on flat screen it´s working but in VR not :D
Will this work with the latest windows 11 patch after they killed Windows mixed reality?
Yes. PSVR2 doesn’t require WMR.
Rift s or psvr2?
PSVR2
@HamVR much thanks!!! I read that rift s was the best for sim racing because of the display port. So i will save for psvr2 now
I’ve got a nividia 1080 in my 2017 pc,will the adaptor work?can I get an adaptor if not?
It will work. Enjoy.
Wait. Cancel that untill you see someone actually try.
I see no obvious technical reason why it wouldn't work, but Sony does say this isn't supported.
No.virtualLink only 2080 series.
If sony's drivers don't work on it, ivry on steam should.
@@Azeazezar I googled it and people said the 1080 TI won’t work so I wonder if I could just get a newer graphics card for my pc.My pc is a i7 7700 processer.?
Qwest 😂
no thanks....
dude, if you play on PC, then just get a PCVR headset. they are WAYYY better in every way compared to the psvr2.
Like what ?
PSVR 2 is not for sim racing or...anything ! And it rhymes !
in no way does it rhyme
Quest 3 is for sim racing with a 50-60ms motion-to-photon latency, the worst-ever 3D binocular overlap, and compression artifacts that make the image a smudgy mess. 😂
